We came in and place was pretty empty, it took a while until we found someone to tell us where to sit. We then decided to sit in the bar area. My wife was drinking at take away coffee, as we were on the road for quite a long time. Everyone saw she had the coffee and didn’t say anything, we ordered drinks, sat down to check the menu and out of the blue a guy (according to the food receipt his name is jack). Just shouted from the bar that my wife couldn’t drink the coffee, so my wife asked if she could go outside and he still shouting and in a really rude way told her to go to the parking lot. At that point we were gonna leave the place, but as we were in a hurry, we stayed anyways. We ordered food and it was not only bland, my schnitzel had a lovely hair as you can see on the photo. I completely understand if there’s a policy against bringing a take away coffee, we never argued that, im not sure why jack had to be so rude about it from the start. And why nobody pointed that out when they saw us coming in, or ordering drinks. I can understand why place was so empty with rude staff like that and hair on the food.

We had an incredible evening at the White Horse Shenley this evening. Thank you to our waitress Jolie and chefs Marian and Chen. Food and service outstanding. Most of all on leaving my car failed to start despite several attempts. We were invited to wait inside despite the staff wanting to finish up after a very busy service A big shout out to everyone for helping us out, offering to make hot drinks and just being there. A huge thank you for getting us out of the rain into the dry.

The Falcon accommodated 14 of us for Mother’s Day, the food was absolutely delicious, and we all enjoyed it, all the staff were amazing, helpful and friendly, I would highly recommend The Falcon, and we will definitely be back, thank you for such a rememberable Mothers Day 🤗

Service from the staff was OK, they forgot our drinks and we had to ask for them again, the food, the starters were as usual amazing very well presented and tasted excellent. The Sunday lunch was average, the presentation was again very good, but only two small slices of beef, we asked for pink but it was very well overcooked ☹ The roast potatoes were very anaemic. My main course was a total let down, I ordered the Gnocchi, sun blushed tomatoes, Pesto, Black Olive Crumb, Tomato sauce and Parmesan, what I got was very thick Gnocchi drowned in a watery tomato sauce with a sprinkle of Parmesan and spinach, no sigh of pesto or black Olive Crumb, it was also not very hot at all. If I had not been someone guest I would have sent it back, but I had to wade through it. Desert was again very good. We have booked for Christmas day, and I am now very worried that it was the wrong choice. Considering this is your flagship Restaurant I really think you need to have a look at the food that’s being served, I do think that I am not the only one thinks that it’s poor as the whole place was very quiet with a lot of empty tables. Such a shame as we loved the Pack Horse Inn and have recommended it to lots of our Friends.

Excellent service! Friendly and helpful when we booked and just so well organised and efficient on the night. We booked dinner for 17 people, they served all of us together and even took orders for drinks during the meal, later itemising the bill individually. One or two starters came a few minutes late but overall it was super service and good food, big potions and lots of choice.

Made a last-minute decision to travel ten miles for a spot of lunch, as we had not been to the Plough and Sail for some years. Quite a trek but totally worth the effort. Realised on arrival that we really should have booked, as the place was rammed at just before two o'clock. The staff could not have been more attentive or kind, and ensured that what had started off as a twenty minute wait time actually turned out to be much less. The menu is extensive and certainly a great deal cheaper than other local restaurants! The wife opted for the duck spring rolls, which were absolutely first class, as was my whitebait. The main courses were something different - wife went for a vegetable burger, which was hugely tasty and served with proper chips, which actually tasted like chips. I opted for the local Barling sausages, which were cooked to perfection and memorable. The wife is a lover of lime desserts, and was preoccupied with the fear that the lime and mango cheesecake would have run out before she was ready for it - the young waitress smilingly undertook to save a piece for her, which made for a very happy wife. The waitresses had their work cut out in view of the crush, but they were all charming, friendly and professional throughout. Meal just over seventy pounds including drinks and coffee - an absolutely fantastic experience. Impossible to fault the place and we shall certainly return sooner rather than later.

We called in here for Sunday lunch on the way past. We didn’t think we would get a table but they got us in straight away without fuss even though they were busy. We were sat at a nice table in the corner, served immediately with drinks and left to peruse the menu. We had the full three courses which included Sunday lunch. Food was very good. Wholesome traditional pub food. Hot, tasty and plenty of it. Portions are very generous. Sunday roast was so good. It included cauliflower cheese which is usually an extra. I had Turkey and my wife had Pork. Meat was fantastic. Lean and cooked well. My wife had wine and it was chilled wonderfully. All in all it was a wonderful experience we would heartily recommend this pub.

Arrive at 1.30pm. Told we had to wait for a table as we were a large party, that’s no problem. When seated 10 minutes later we had to wait a long time to order drinks , even a longer time for them to arrive. Ordered food, 15 minutes later another waitress came over and said there was no fish left ‘the chef can’t find any’ she said. Why didn’t the original waitress know this when we originally ordered? Had to get menus and then go to the bar to reorder as no sign of staff to take our new order , (only about 30% of tables taken so not busy). Ordered at bar and said we had been here an hour and needed the food by 3pm, told by bar staff that would be ok. 10 minutes later original waitress came over and spoke so rudely to us saying that no way would the food be ready by then ( still 25 minutes away), making it sound that it was our fault for asking for a pub meal to be served within 90 minutes of entering an over half empty premises. Terrible customer service under the new ownership. We’ve been visiting the pub for over 22 years, as locals, not likely to visit again and will be telling neighbours of our awful experience. Plenty of other places we can visit, such a shame as it was a good establishment.

Very good food:. We had:starter duck &orange pate, hot fish trio. Mains, 5 bells burger, trio Suffolk sausages and twice cooked pork belly all very tasty. The setting was lovely, clean, an excellent friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend.

This has been our local for 10 years. We’ve seen a few changes during that time and have always supported it. Unfortunately it seems to have turned into a sports bar. I can understand this for the Euros and Olympics. However, last night there were 3 large TVs blaring with Sky Sports. The locals don’t want this. We’ll be finding a new local that cares about what their local customers want.

Definitely worthy of a 5 star review, excellent food first visit and with added bonus of 50% off mains for the summer. Heard great reviews, finally managed to try food, the special was a hunters chicken burger. It was worthy of the £17 let alone the 50% off, will certainly be back. Dog friendly advisable to book

On two consecutive nights my food was poor. I took a preventative antihistamine pill. I was too polite to decline the chicken pate. Hot weather, how come the chicken pate underneath a thin layer of butter was liquid? The quantity thankfully was very small. I regret eating it out of politeness. I hope it was only something defrosted in a microwave, it tasted okay, but the liquid texture? Yesterday risotto was pretty bad too. The restaurant was more of less empty, perhaps two tables eating, not great. Avoid?
