One of the best meals we've had in a long time! We dined as a foursome on Bew Years Day. Staff were super friendly. All dishes were exceptional quality with THE best sticky toffee pudding I've ever had in my life! We shall definitely be returning & given how good the food us, were thinking of basing ourselves at the onsite accommodation!

We had an incredible evening at the White Horse Shenley this evening. Thank you to our waitress Jolie and chefs Marian and Chen. Food and service outstanding. Most of all on leaving my car failed to start despite several attempts. We were invited to wait inside despite the staff wanting to finish up after a very busy service A big shout out to everyone for helping us out, offering to make hot drinks and just being there. A huge thank you for getting us out of the rain into the dry.

Really cozy country pub. The menu is very thoughtful & provides something for everyone. I had the salmon fillet, which was very tasty & accompanied by creamy mash & a selection of vegetables. The only downside was the £5.50 they charged for two small, cold bread rolls!!!! Staff were all very welcoming & attended to our needs throughout.

We went for New Year's Eve dinner and will not be returning. Unfortunately, the quality of cooking since being taken over by The Chestnut Group has let this place down. So here is the list of the problems we encountered- The nibbles did not arrive before the starters. There was a 10 inch long blond hair in the ham hock starter that my friend had to extract from his mouth . He did not eat the rest of the plateful. The scallop starter when I did finally receive it as they did not bring it to the table with all the other starters, was not cooked properly and the seaweed base was inedible. The waiters were hard working and I cannot fault them. When we broached the hair in food situation with the manager on paying the bill there was no apology whatsoever. Don't waste your hard earned money eating there.

Great pub, good food. 4 friends ate here after golf. I had an excellent burger with bacon and cheese, one of my friends had the steak. Both were cooked really well and were very tasty. Can’t remember what the other 2 had but i know they loved it. Great service, the young lad that waited on us was friendly and efficient. The owner/boss was doing a sterling job operating as chef. Lots of beers, 3 real ales on draught to choose from. The wainwrights bitter was delicious. Price wise, typical pub prices, no problem there. Thanks very much to Sally and her team for looking after us so well.

First time visiting Plough & Sail. Went for lunch on New Years Eve and had an excellent meal. Three superb courses plus very friendly & helpful staff. Next time I am that way I will be sure to visit again. It was the best pub meal I have had in a very long time.

Have been before and have been quite satisfied in the past however, last week there were 24 of us for a club lunch. Portions quite small and had to ask for more potatoes, only one slice of meat too. Food was tasty and the meal was to include a dessert and coffee or tea. I fancied an espresso rather than the usual filter coffee but was told that an espresso is not included and I'd have to pay £3.20 extra. Bearing in mind we spent nearly £700 and as two people couldn't make it, their meals weren't served up despite having been paid for, I found it really strange that I had to pay extra for what was a smaller, and replacement coffee. Sounds petty I know, but successful businesses are successful because they get the little things right. Last time we'll eat there out of principle.

Just had Christmas afternoon tea at The Orangery. The staff were friendly the food very nice, however we were seated in the side conservatory which was cold and devoid of any kind of Christmas atmosphere or decoration. Burghley always looks lovely at Christmas I don’t understand why they can’t make more of an effort with the part of the Orangery.

We have visited on several occasions and is becoming our go-to for dinner whenever we visit Southwold. Family of five. Chose fish snd chips, curry madras (chicken and prawn) and two Bells burgers. Chicken madras was bright and fresh with a kick. Our boys loved burgers and fish. Never disappoints and service was friendly with good beer. Cannot go wrong.

Bar staff great. Pizza chef totally dismissive when I questioned what was missing from my pizza. Pizza dough very good to be fair although mine was missing extra pork belly and chilli. Chef basically ignored me and went back to washing the floor. Also don’t say “Happy Mondays! 2-4-1 Pizzas all day long!” Because it isn’t true. We invited friends to join us, when they arrived at 3pm the kitchen had closed

Absolutely superb meal at the Village Maid. We were a party of 3 including one of us who is coeliac. Could not fault the food or service it was exceptional. The parsnip and apple soup was delicious as was the scotch egg starter and the mains (festive turkey Christmas dinner, chicken in a bucket and burger) were absolutely delicious. We took our dog and she was given her own little bowl of water and a couple of treats on a saucer by the table. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and looked very festive. This is the second time we have visited (first time was in the summer) and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a great meal and fantastic service. Really felt like the start of Christmas.

A group of friends and ourselves met here for lunch, although trying to park the car was a nightmare, avoid Friday lunchtime! A selection of meals from sandwiches, lovely carved ham, prawn cocktails both said nice, a lovely looking prawn, smoked salmon, avocado salad, I was told was lovely and I opted for the skate middle, which was small but nice. As always the pub was busy, with efficient service and we all had a good time
