Had the most delicious Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time. Beef nice and tender, lovely selection of vegetables, a massive homemade Yorkshire pudding, gravy tasty too. If you didn’t want a roast there are specials and also a menu too with plenty to choose fromCan’t wait for next visit

Really bad food, badly cooked, never in 20 years have I ever experienced this, no proper Sunday roasts, no menu, no specials

We went to this pub yesterday to meet friends for lunch. Never been there before. This place is great, the food and service is excellent. All food was cooked to order and the quality is amazing. There facilities are great for disabled customers as well. I would recommend and can say best pub we have been to for lunch in ages.

First visit here since they reopened following lifting of lockdown. It was good to see the car park full, Covid measures in place with tables spaced and all the necessary precautions in place. We had Roast Turkey which came with a good selection of vegetables and extra gravy. Generous size serving, so come hungry and best to book to avoid disappointment, especially on Sundays. Understand dogs are welcome in the bar area so remember to ask for a table there if you intend to bring your fur baby.

I’ve not been here for around 3 years so decided to come here and bring my mother in law for lunch. There was lots of choice on the menu and special board. I ordered chilli con carne, my husband the steak and ale pie, in law had the chicken curry and my son had the fish and chips. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. The place was clean and the covid procedures were spot on. Unfortunately that’s where the good points end! My in-laws curry was homemade and she actually count eat it, we tried some and there was an overwhelming taste of cumin, the consistency was very sloppy to, she couldn’t eat it! My chilli was so dry, there was no sauce nor actual flavour, the tortillas were dry and stale, my husbands steak pie was watery, the mash had a very odd shiny look to it and an odd taste! Of all the meals, the fish and chips was really the only nice meal to be served! It was such a shame as reading other reviews, the foods been good! The waitress came to collect 4 pretty full plates (my son couldn’t finish his fish and chips, for a child portion it was very big which is pretty good, just to much for my 5 year old), she asked if everything was ok, my mother in law then complained about her curry, we felt guilty complaining about the whole meal, but Ild imagine seeing all these full plates coming back, would suggest we weren’t overly happy. The price of the curry was taken from the final bill. Maybe we caught the bad straw for the day which is a shame, we left pretty hungry and stopped for a McDonald’s! The ladies however were brilliant!

Sunday roast served all day here. Good covid measures in place. Staff friendly and helpful. Dinner was served piping hot and in good time. Really tasty and generous portions. Couldn't fault our visit!

One of us went in to see if there was a table for 4 plus a dog .there was so in we went filled in the paperwork sat down at the table waitress was very friendly.tables was a good distance apart .Service was exceptional drinks and then the food was ordered .very very good food the quantity was really good .We went back the following night it was exactly the same as the first night .We all had different food and could not fault it .A excellent place to go for food and drinks

Friendly staff excellent service and the food was just right for both my wife and myself My wife had the lasagna and I had the mixed grill, that I could not finish it could have done me for another meal.

What a lovely pub. We were staying just up the road and wanted to enjoy a nice meal out. We had a friendly welcome and served with a smile. The menu had a good selection and included gluten free options. The food we both enjoyed was very tasty. We will definitely return when we are passing again.

The choice of food was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals. A mark off because of mistakes over our orders - silly little things that were down to inattention. Otherwise, would certainly go back.

We come here often, the staff are fantastic as well as the owners. The food is always hot, fresh and a welcome feel. Whilst there is no children's menu the light bite section covers a good selection when we bring the children. This place does get busy so best to prebook if your wanting premium times... Another sign of a great place!

Visited for a couple of lunches recently and could not gave enjoyed it more. The staff are very welcoming and helped to get 7 of us seated. The lunch was very good and we booked for Sunday lunch. Once again all sorted for us. The food was great on both visits and if we are in the area again will definitely visit. Give it a go.

3 adults and a toddler ate here for early dinner about 5pm, good selection on the menu including specials. All food freshly cooked, piping hot and very tasty, very good value for money I would highly recommend.

Fabulous fresh food, simple workable menu, with a specials board that offers a good variety so you do not get bored.Portions are generous and the desserts are fantastic. Would recommend for solo travellers, couples or families. The children enjoy the food here too. Simple and effective with a couple of key staff and the owners keeping it ship shape making this our favourite go to.

Visited as a group, the meal was good as was the service. The one thing that spoilt the event was the tasteless Luke warm tea and coffee.

Excellent service, the menu is very comprehensive, with a new specials board every day, the food is excellent and good value for money. The interior of the pub is very welcoming

I found this pub on Trip Advisor when looking for somewhere near Kings Lynn and was so pleased I did. The staff are lovely, the food is very tasty and it is reasonably priced. There were 4 of us and we all had different meals and every meal was great . I personally can highly recommend the Stilton mushrooms as a starter, they were delicious and the warm toast spot on. It is also spotlessly clean, which is a must for me.I would definitely recommend this pub for all of the above reasons.

There was nothing overally wrong with the pub just nothing stood out either.Positives - nice food, clean toilets, dog friendly, plenty of parking. Negatives - one worker I noticed like to pet the dogs and bought out dog biscuits but she was also the same lady who served the food. They also quite clearly preferred dogs over children as there was no kids menu so we had to pay over £7 for the smallest fish & chips they did which was a ridiculous size for my young son.Half the restaurant is casual, the other half is old fashioned table cloths and napkins folded up decoratively. Certainly attracting the OAPs!I probably wouldn't return on the basis of wasn't overally kid friendly and just not my style at all.

We recently had a New Year's break at the Norfolk Woods Spa, just down the road from the Carpenters Arms, on our last night we had a lovely meal here and Harvey our server was so attentive, gave great advised on the meals and basically couldn't do enough for us to make a meal and evening enjoyable

If you are after just a lunch time snack you cannot do any better than their home made soup.

My wife and I decided to stop here for lunch after delivering Xmas presents to my parents. What can I say delightful, bright, welcoming and very friendly. The food we had, 2 turkey roasts was beautiful, best roast we have had out in a long while. The staff are a credit to the pub, very professional friendly and helpful, will definitely be going there for another visit very soon. Recommended by J.Southgate and H.Court.

6 of us booked in for a Sunday roast here, we were not disappointed. Lovely staff, lovely food. Pleasant atmosphere.

Visited as a group for lunch. The lunch was delayed by some of our group arriving late due to a severe hold up on the A 47. The staff coped well even though another part of the group arrived an hour late. The food was good quality.

Family run pub situated on the A47 between Kings Lynn and Swaffham. Called on for lunch and they were reasonably busy for a midweek October lunchtime. Good selection of beers including real ales. Food portions were very generous, we didnt really need a starter. Quality of food was good. Service was pleasant throughout. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Nice greeting with instant seating, VERY pleasant staff with excellent service to a very excellent meal from an extensive menu. The meal was very quickly served even though the restaurant was very busy. My wife and I had roast of the day followed by desserts and then coffee - all served by very friendly staff.

As always the service and quality was second to none, two of our party got stuck in traffic but the staff were sympathetic and did not rush us. After their delay the rest of the party joined us and had a very good meal, everyone very complimentary about the portion size, quality and pleasantness of the staff.

We were staying at Pentney Lake's just around the corner. We booked here as recommended by the sister inlaw who lives near by and has visited a few times. We arrived early and sat out in the garden having a drink. The restaurant was busy (thought that's a good thing) we sat down for our meal and nothing but perfect service very polite and EVERY meal came out correctly and all together (we were a group of 10) sometimes meals come out wrong or have a bit of wait at other places we have been to as a group. We all planned to go back to the lodge and have a few drinks after but we were all full up from the meal. Everyone complemented on the quality and quantity of the food. Amazing place highly recommended. Well done to all the staff.

We stopped here on the way to our Holiday at Norfolk Woods Spa and liked the feel of the place and pleasant staff. We returned for an evening meal and were pleased with the quality/cost and again pleasant staff. Would recommend for a relaxing casual meal.

Family Get together of 15 before my daughter goes to Uni, had Chilli Beef Enchiladas absolutely delicious, superb, my brother had the Salmon and Prawn salad which also looked delicious. Ample portions (I couldn’t eat it all) pudding looked amazing. Great service, highly recommended

Had the Cromer crab salad which was amazing! The FOH staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you......would highly recommend 😁

My fiancée and I ate here whilst staying at the nearby Little Abbey Farm B&B.; My fiancée managed to make a booking very quickly over the phone, and our table was ready and waiting for us when we got there.

Have been several times when family are visiting and we had excellent service and food. Last time we took our daughters puppy with us, he got a bowl of water and several doggy biscuits. Would definitely recommend a visit.

After two weeks away on holiday, took the family to Carpenters Arms for Sunday Roast. Service was to a high standard as was the food. A great way to round off our holiday.

Have eaten at carpenters many many times in the past, every time we go back it’s just as we remember. Best Sunday roast for miles, when we do get chance to go out, wouldn’t think to go anywhere else, the gravy and roast potatoes are to die for, never ever disappointed in the quality of the amazing food, not just Sunday roasts, we have been for weekday meals too! Good all rounder... although you must go and try the roast... followed by the sticky toffee pud! YUM! Just thinking about it makes me want to go back!

Went out for lunch with parents today. NEVER AGAIN. Two of us ordered braised beef, mash and veg from the 'specials' board. The beef was inedible, neither of us could even cut the meat with a steak knife. It tasted awful and really chewy.The veg had a strange taste to it. Hence 99% of the meal was left.

I eat here fairly regularly and have NEVER had a bad meal. Most recently I went on the quiz night and had the courgette risotto off of the Specials board and it was epic ... so delicious and plenty of it. A friend I was with had chilli nachos and the portion they got was huge and also very delicious (I nicked some). Lovely atmosphere and always good service. A definate recommendation from me if you're looking for somewhere that serves excellent food for a very decent price.

Went to the Carpenters for the first time in a while a few weeks ago and it didn’t disappoint. I had a Pie which was one of the specials and the flavour was just fantastic. I went again yesterday, a last minute decision to have a roast with my partners family. On a busy Sunday they delivered as they always do with an amazing roast. Would definitely recommend this to anyone if you’re looking for one of the best Sunday roasts.

Have reviewed this pub before a while ago and thought it was amazing, in fact I have 2 reviews to say that. Unfortunately on this occasion the lunch we had was mediocre at best.

We visited this place a couple of times recently as we were staying nearby. On both occasions the food was disappointing - pretty tasteless with soggy chips. My daughter described them as "school dinner chips". Not great at all.

We were staying nearby and passed this pub as we drove to Kings Lynn. We decided to give it ago for dinner; there was 5 of us in total. We enjoyed it that much so we booked again for the following night as the menu had plenty on offer.

Booked a table for a family get together during the hot spell. No air conditioning and just a couple of fans to cover everyone.

Ate here two weeks ago, enjoying a very acceptable lunch.Returned today, very disappointing. The landlady opened a door behind my chair, without asking whether I minded, so that I sat in blazing sun (v hot today) The food was mediocre. Husbands meal was a piece of 'cardboard' chicken with a messy bowl of mushroom sauce. The latter had been microwaved and overflowed. Poorly presented plate...with bland food. I had to ask for the garlic bread I was expecting with my linguine.

Our group of four adults and toddler arrived for an early evening meal. The dining side of the pub was fully booked but we had a table near the bar. The young lady who looked after us was very welcoming and attentive, especially to our little grand-daughter.

Stopped here for early evening dinner food was hot and a full plate full even though we ordered from the light bites menu on the back of the main menu will call back again most definitely

My husband & I usually eat here every Saturday evening. However I booked a table for 4 on his birthday on 11th July. We all had a lovely meal. Our daughter & her fiancé have to have dairy free meals, this was no problem at all.

Great staff great food great beer not much more you could ask for really! Tend to go a couple of times a week! Shoutout to Liam and Paul both give great service!

On way in the middle of the day to Norfolk coast on 7/6/19 and stopped here for the first time for a snack. We were so pleased with both the staff and food/drink that we called in on the rainy Monday following this for a coffee, however the cute little dog who liked to lie on the floor and have a tummy tickle was not there this time.

Great pub ,fantastic Sunday lunch ,great atmosphere,very efficient staff Overall fab experience. Probably best in area.

We visited here twice on our week’s visit to Narborough about 4 miles away on recommendation. It has a very nice atmosphere and we were made to feel welcome. The food was very good and the “specials” suited us. We would recommend it to anyone. We were able to buy fresh asparagus from the bar too so an added bonus.

Lovely restaunt , very friendly and welcoming , food was freshly cooked and delicious, they had a good menu plus daily specials , I had the marinated chicken ( Stilton sauce ) I had new potatoes and delicious fresh veg

Our first visit and it was accidental as we were hungry and passing, late (ish) on a Saturday night. From the moment we stepped in, we were made to feel very welcome, ordered drinks and asked for a table which we were shown to. The bar area was very warm and well attended. Waiting staff were very attentive and the food was hot and tasty. Fairly standard pub menu but that suited us perfectly with nothing pretentious or fancy, pub food well done. Very reasonably priced, good portion sizes and friendly customers too! Waiting staff who genuinely seemed to care whether we were enjoying the food or not. Offered desserts even though the kitchen would have been closing. The only negative for us was that it is so far from where we live that we can't visit more often. Would like to come back.

Second visit for a Sunday roast.Bar service good. Drinks good. Very disappointing. Beef very tough. Complained, they did bring some more, which was marginly better. Waiting to be asked what, if anything, we wanted for dessert. All four of us had decided what we were going to have. Waited 30 minutes and finally gave up. Complained yet again when paying the bill. He did apologise. However the lady who takes orders was not that bothered as walked past us twice without saving a word of apology, as she was clearly not on the ball as it should have been her job to know who was still waiting for service. Another customer commented in car park when we left that beef was tough but had no problems with service. Clearly they care more about regulars than possible retuning customers as I can assure you we will not be returning to this establishment. Gone down hill completely.

Visited this pub many years ago while on holiday, so happy when family told me we were holding a big family get together there, that's where my happiness stopped. On arrival I asked for a shandy, only to be given 2/3 of a glass of lemonade topped up with lager and another drink in a dirty glass, nory these thing wodnt worry me but working in the same business highlights this, the lady who was supposed to be looking after us was rude, very cold and not very attentive, when handing out meals she decided to argue about a meal that had been ordered, instead of changing it just stood looking at us, we decided to take the meal. £11.25 for scampi, chips and peas, frozen chips, half decent scampi and dehydrated boiled to hell peas, I expected better. I add we were a 17 person group, we dared to ask for another slice of meat for the children as their meal only came with one slice, this was shown on the end bill, with 2 slices totalling £1.50, as 2 special birthdays were being celebrated we had our own cake, no plates were provide but cheap paper napkins to hand it out in. Total lack of care, no professionalism and certainly nothing to make me want to go back.

We had booked a table for five a few weeks in advance, because as it was a special occasion , we definitely wanted to make sure we got a table. We did phone up a few days before, just to make sure things were going to plan. Anyway, we were booked in for Good Friday, as it was the actual day of the birthday too. My Brother and Sister-in-law, who now live on the other side of the country, were pleasantly surprised by The Carpenter's Arms. It has been given a makeover since he last went in when he live here. Anyway, 3 of the 5 had haddock, chips and mushy peas. Brother and sister-in-law were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion of haddock, I had my "almost" standing order, the smoky chicken melt (aka Hunter's Chicken). Fabulous as usual. Mum had scampi, chips and garden peas, as it was Good Friday. Despite getting full by the main course, which surprised my brother, who couldn't believe how full he was, we did have some desserts. My brother can be fussy and picky, but was amazed by the quality of the food. He's travelled the world and yet had not tried sorbet before. He tried The Carpenter's Arms blackcurrent sorbet. Very refreshing. My sister-in-law thought so, too. The Birthday Boy himself had a cinnamon waffle with ice cream.. Mum had a mango sorbet, which she has had before. It is her favourite. I had a delicious pink gin. Overall, terrific meal. Great, friendly service.

Had a late light lunch here after playing foot golf in Tilney. Food was lovely and not too expensive. My daughter had a steak in the lighter lunch menu and it was so tender, definitely have it again.

Just been for a roast on Mother’s Day. All I can say is great food, well cooked and served by friendly staff especially Abbie.Great value for money nice and relaxing place to eat.

We've been here quite a few time before, however this was the first time we've been on a quiz night. The Carpenters holds a quiz night on the 3rd week of the month and it was packed. Not for just the quiz but for meals as well. We met up with friends who had booked a meal and also to take part in the quiz..We had already eaten but wished we had also booked for a meal. Our friends said the meal was well above average and we also thought the same. Next time we will also book a meal and take part in the quiz.. The service and and the staff is first class..Il'l give it 5 stars for a local pub that really looks after you..Many thanks to all at the Carpenters Arms for a really great night.

We decided to make a visit here for our anniversary lunch although we hadn’t reserved , there were quite a few cars already parked up but once inside we could see there was plenty of room in the main restaurant or in the bar area. We arrived at 1:15 and noted they served between 12:00 -14:00.

My wife and I picked The Carpenters Arms for a dinner time meal, on the strength of the reviews on Trip Advisor. Well we certainly weren't disappointed.

Visited on Saturday as a group of us were staying at Pentney Lakes for my Hen weekend. I cannot thank Liam, Harvey and Abbie enough, they were all fantastic in making the evening so enjoyable. The food were large portions and was fairly nice. All the waiting staff couldn't do enough for us, and got involved in the laughs we were having as a group. It was so nice even the kitchen staff came out at the end of the evening to see us as we were sat near the kitchen.

Took my wife here for a Thursday Evening Special and we both really enjoyed the Meal, and the décor has improved since we last visited this Restaurant

So, why 4 stars and not five....

Despite the place being busy, the service was friendly, efficient and prompt. The excellent meal was hot, tasty and not overpriced. What more could you wish for? Our next visit!

Really lovely place. We were a group of 9 and had a nice table near the window. The food was lovely and was a good portion size. The staff were very attentive. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I have been visiting this lovely place for some time now and are always very very happy. The service is excellent and the food is delicious, plenty of it and good variety. The carrot mash,that comes as part of the vegetables, is amazing and the gravy is how it should be.

My wife and myself went here for Sunday lunch. We went to the bar and ordered drinks and said we had booked a table. The barman was most helpfull and checked his book and sent us to our table. The table was very clean and well presented. The service was second to none with our starter out in a good time, very nice too, Tomato and Garlic soup with warm bread. For our main meal we had the Sunday Roast. We had the Pork and Beef which was cooked to perfection and five different vegatables. We passed on the sweet as by now we were so full. Overall we were quite impressed with the whole package and will be back soon. Thanks to all the staff, you were all on top of your game x

We have visited several times, and always had first class quality and service. The best in the area in my opinion with very generous servings and friendly, polite, well trained staff (today we paid more elsewhere for half the beef which was as tough as old boots!). It's half an hour away for us but there's nothing nearer which competes so we'll be back!

Called in as Jolly Brewer weren't accommodating. Not disappointed at all. Make this your first choice!

Been here before 2 years ago and all was good but this year with eleven of us booked which is a good number for lunchtime very disappointing I had tagliatelle which was just pasta in a tin of chopped tomatoes with some very dry chicken my wife had a beef roast which was indescribable I think the beef was a Christmas present for my granddaughters play kitchen along with the microwave veg the chicken coujons where deep fried with in an inch of there life I could continue but I have already wasted a lunchtime there so overall not impressed so just paid the bill and left much to my daughters disgust because we never complain

Had a really appetising three course Christmas meal here with a group of friends.

Spent the weekend close by and popped in on the Friday for light lunch which was lovely so we decided to book Sunday lunch. Good job we booked as it was veg busy which is a good sign. Our party of 8 had different lunches few of us had the roasts which was very good, a few had fish and chips which where large, curry and lasagne also looked very good. Everyone enjoyed their food. Would highly recommend a visit.

We have visited this Pub / Restaurant on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed.

As roadside pubs on the main road go this pub is well worth a stop. It’s quite a nice large pub inside with plenty of tables & the staff are pleasant food I feel is average pub food at average prices.

We have eaten at the Carpenters both lunch and Dinner never ever had a poor meal or poor service, their Roast dinners are of first class. Waiters and waitress are ALL friendly and helpful, with a good sense of humour, but one did say that I had a striking resemblance to. Joe Pasquale, pleased the wife.

Passed this pub many times travelling from cambs to the coast,it always caught my eye and always is busy,decided to ring bye chance on a Sunday and got a table,have to say was pleasantly surprised when we got in the pub,very warm welcome amazing service,very clean spotless,gents toilets sparkling clean,got a drink was seated had the beef just melted in your mouth the gravy was amazing the veg was delicious,5 star,had a cheesecake for dessert it was also amazing,when this way always return defo worth a visit highly recommend.

This is the 3rd time I’ve been here for a roast, every time it’s spot on. It’s not fancy fine dining, its a lovely traditional roast with excellent meat, potatoes, Yorkshires, vegetables and gravy. And the price is more than reasonable. Highly recommended

Took my sister and brother in law for a lovely Sunday roast today. Booked a week ago as they travelled from Cambridge. Could not fault the food, service and cleanliness. Arrived early but the table was ready, ordered drinks and they also took our food order. Within 10 mins we all had a plate of delicious home made roast dinner. Very reasonable priced will definitely be visiting again.

Although we have passed this pub 100s of times it is the first time we have stopped, it was a good decision, great food, friendly service,and decent prices.

We’ve been several times before, came tonight with a load of friends, everybody loved it, great staff, lovely food, more than we could eat, deserts were fantastic. Great value and they couldn’t do enough for us. Will denfinately come back and highly recommended.

I don’t normally leave reviews but read some of the previous stuff and had to laugh out loud from idiots that were clearly after something for nothing. We had a wonderful meal with 8 friends. The staff were lovely, we couldn’t eat it all but still ordered deserts that were amazing!! A wonderful find, all of us couldn’t find anything to fault, will definitely be back. We stopped here on our way from Peterborough to Norwich for a bite to eat. We could tell from the car park it was popular and we hadn’t booked however the staff were welcoming and very accommodating, they did their best to find a way to fit our party of four in somehow! The food was great, the option of a smaller sized portion of a roast was welcomed by my elderly parents and the desserts were traditional and tasty. We were particularly impressed by the extra gravy that was brought to the table without us requesting it and the friendliness and efficiency of all the staff despite them being extremely busy.

This venue is a traditional pub that serves good food. It's always reliable and reasonably priced. We tend to go there when we just want a nice and comfortable evening with no fuss.
