I visited for a special occasion Sunday lunch as a party of ten with the children up one end and we all had a brilliant time kids included. The service was really personalised to us thanks to our fantastic waiter Aravind who was really warm, attentive and efficient. The food and drink were delicious and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere then perfect spot to walk off the food and drink after with the beautiful river and village! Thank you very much Aravind and Rose & Crown for providing the perfect venue for us all :-)

We visited Cambridge with our cats so we’re looking for a pet friendly pub. This stands out as it’s next to the river (you can sit in the beer garden) and has some interesting history. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff and we were allocated a quiet table in the pub. The food were delicious and the ingredients were very fresh! It’s so good that we forgot to take photos! We had a lovely lunch there and will definitely be back!

The menu here is superb, as is the wine list, the decor and the whole experience. Food cooked over the fire is sensational - and I wholeheartedly recommend a visit. Whilst not every space is dog friendly there are several rooms that are in addition to the beautiful outdoor space. A fantastic experience to be repeated Im sure.

We went in for breakfast as was staying nearby with our family of 7, was greeted by the lovely Leiyanna (I believe a member of staff who also works next door at the premier inn). Leiyanna was so nice, she explained the menu, took our order promptly and checked on us throughout our breakfast. Food was cooked to order and was all very nice. Lovely little beefeater with fantastic service!

Sadly this ‘pub’ operates table service only, so it’s not really a pub is it? The once-lovely traditional bar now houses some outward-facing computer screen ‘tills’ for the staff and provides a surface for the empties to be stored on. Not a great look! When we were there, there was only one member of staff behind the bar preparing drinks for the entire pub and restaurant - what a crazy and frustrating system! All the human connectivity of going to the bar, checking out the beers, maybe having a chat with a stranger - gone. Perhaps this is the only way of operating that generates enough profit to satisfy the owners, but it makes for a very sterile experience. Also, the place is overrun with lockdown dogs and their inexperienced owners.
