I come in for breakfast today, on the 12th of October and the lady staff member there was amazing, she was very polite and very helpful, made me feel very welcome! very good customer service! I will definitely be returning :)

Lovely food, fab service for a table of 10 today for lunch. Definitely recommend , so friendly and service was exceptional. We’ve booked for us to meet again in Dec for Xmas 👍

I took my nine year old daughter for lunch today and we were looked after very well by Julie! She was so nice to my daughter the childrens menu didn’t have broccoli and we said we’d opt for corn on the cob but Julie said no she’d check if it was okay and she made sure my daughter got broccoli. When she served us she was really kind and polite checking we had all we needed and came back to check on us. She cleared our plates promptly once we were finished and she was on dessert duty and made sure my daughter didn’t have to wait long. She was so friendly and kind too talking with us making us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Big thank you to Julie my daughter can’t wait to come back and be made to feel welcome again by you!!

We came in and place was pretty empty, it took a while until we found someone to tell us where to sit. We then decided to sit in the bar area. My wife was drinking at take away coffee, as we were on the road for quite a long time. Everyone saw she had the coffee and didn’t say anything, we ordered drinks, sat down to check the menu and out of the blue a guy (according to the food receipt his name is jack). Just shouted from the bar that my wife couldn’t drink the coffee, so my wife asked if she could go outside and he still shouting and in a really rude way told her to go to the parking lot. At that point we were gonna leave the place, but as we were in a hurry, we stayed anyways. We ordered food and it was not only bland, my schnitzel had a lovely hair as you can see on the photo. I completely understand if there’s a policy against bringing a take away coffee, we never argued that, im not sure why jack had to be so rude about it from the start. And why nobody pointed that out when they saw us coming in, or ordering drinks. I can understand why place was so empty with rude staff like that and hair on the food.

To whom it may concern, Came in last Friday with clients as I heard about the current reputation of the pub and the new refurbished restaurant, I have a couple of complaints which I would like to declare which is as i came in bar staff where quite rude to me and my clients. When we had our food it was okay but could tell that it wasn’t fresh, however the waitress Sophie was very understanding and catered towards everything we needed.

I had a Lunch menu deal £9.50, chrispy Texan BBQ sauce Chicken Cheese Wrap, Fries and a Peroni. The wrap and fries were really good( I will go back). The pub has been extended, and it's spotlessly clean. Would recommend.

Lovely evening celebrating our anniversary. Great food choice, even for my fussy partner. Very impressed with the refurbishment, the decor is very tasteful, and the outside area, including the covered outside space, looks fabulous. Karl was waiting our table. We were here celebrating my Wife birthday on the 30th june. Our first time at the Duke since your refurb. We have been here plenty of times before. I celebrated my 40th Birthday party here 10 years ago. Food was great and didn't have to wait long for drinks to be ordered. Was served by Chloe and Luke. I did order from the specials but was told that the one i wanted wasn't available which has happened before. Our two sons are in electric wheelchairs and they did struggle to get under your new tables. They were ok getting under the tables before your refurb. We like the decor and the extra eating space you have provided, but i did struggle to take my son to the toilet as the seating was in way of the doorway. We haven't been put off coming again and my autistic son loves the place. Our youngest son did get his ice-cream thrown at him by accident by the staff , which did laugh at, but accidents happen and he quickly got him another one , the ice-cream stayed in the glass bowl so there was no need to change it. Slippery glass bowl lol Will be back for the next Birthday coming up in our family.

We visited yesterday for my birthday, was greeted on arrival and shown to our table promptly. Drinks order was taken and we each decided on different Sunday Roast dishes (Beef, Turkey and Lamb) all three were delicious - we had to all try each others. 😂 Lovely setting, delicious meals and fantastic staff, will definitely be back. We were served by Chloe.

Luke was spot on! Table service and came over as soon as our drinks were low, no need to go to the bar 👌🏽 interior is so updated now! Very recommended

Beautiful pub which has just reopened after an amazing refurb. Plenty to choose from on the menu, value for money and really good quality food. Service was excellent, and a special mention to Luke who went above and beyond from start to finish!

I went with my husband on a friend's and family night after their refurb. It looks lovely inside and out and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the food and found it easy to find an option suitable for my plant based diet. It's an all round friendly pub with a lovely garden with play area for children and families to spend a lovely afternoon in the sun. Highly recommend 👌

Came for family lunch and sat in the new pergola area. Cannot fault anything. Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and lovely staff. Especially cheri who served us. Nothing too much trouble for any of the staff. Very impressed with the refurbishment. Looks amazing .

We were a party of eight celebrating a friends birthday that had dinner on the opening night at this venue that had been closed due to a refurb, which looks great by the way. We could not fault the food or the service and we came away with very positive views on our evening being catered for by the team, especially Chloe. All the food was freshly cooked (you could tell) and even our coffees at the end of the meal was lovely and hot (I have a thing about hot coffee). We are very lucky to have this pub in our village and in the last year, since it has been under new management, I have not been able to find anything that has disappointed me. My only criticism is that they no longer take tips on card - which caught us out last night. Luckily some of us had cash so was able to leave a tip but sometimes I have been known to be cashless.

Was back tonight for the first time since the refurb. The pub looks different everywhere you look with plenty more seating than before. Food was delicious and staff very welcoming and friendly. Thanks to the staff. I will be back.

We booked a table for 12pm and arrived just before at 11.45. The opening time was shown as 11.30. However we weren’t allowed in until 12pm due to workmen being on site. However we entered at 12pm and were seated by a lovely member of staff (lovely purple hair!). Unfortunately we were seated in the conservatory area and there were workmen/builders using a circular saw, with a radio on too, directly behind and above our heads and another lot of workmen using a different piece of noisy machinery outside to our left. The noise was incredible and made it difficult to speak to one another or hear each other whilst the machinery was being used. There didn’t appear to be any other spare tables otherwise we would have asked to move. That said, we ordered our food which was served very quickly and was very tasty. Portion sizes of chips was meagre and varied from plate to plate but when we questioned this our server brought some extra chips to our table. Overall, the food was very nice, staff were friendly and ordinarily the setting would be very pleasant too but I would not drive the 1 hour journey to return until the building work has been completed.

Although we live locally, we've avoided The Duke of Wellington for a few years due to previous bad experiences. Last Saturday evening we decided to give it another go and I'm glad we did, it was a very positive experience and we'll definitely go back. We were seated in the conservatory area, and it had a lovely atmosphere, with lots of space around the tables. It's a good menu, full of 'pub classics', with a wide choice for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans. Service was professional and friendly, our meals arrived quickly and the food was piping hot. We'd ordered different types of pies, and I liked that the gravy was served on the side. We had a slight issue when paying. It wasn't possible to add a tip to the bill when paying by card, which was an inconvenience as based on the food and service, we wanted to tip, so we had to scrabble for loose change. Then, I mistakenly entered the wrong PIN number into the card reader, which I realised immediately. Despite numerous attempts afterwards for me to enter the correct number, neither our server nor his manager were able to get the card reader to work, so I had to go to the bar and pay with another card - it would have been awkward if i didn't have another card with me! I've knocked a star off due to the issues i experienced when paying, but I caveat that based on the food and service we received, which were very good, we will return soon to The Duke of Wellington.

Cosy atmosphere, nice food, good service, Luke served with a smile and was courteous throughout. We were very pleased to see there was a dedicated and extensive vegetarian and vegan menu.

Just popped in on the off chance breakfast was available. It was 😊 Karl served us and was really friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and quality ingredients were clearly used. Shame we aren't local as would definitely come back if we were.

Was greeted by the wonderful cheri! She went above and beyond when reccomending food and drinks and showing me the best place to sit for a quiet spot of lunch. Will definitely returning soon!

We enjoyed the food. The coffee let the experience down. We ordered a large americano. The coffee that arrived was a small instant coffee. The cup arrived with the spoon sticking out of the cup and coffee granules floating around the top. When we questioned the coffee, we were told that an americano was just a black coffee. £2.20 for a spoon of instant coffee! It wasn’t even a nice coffee, it was weak and tasteless.

I honestly cannot fault the service and food from a visit last night. I rarely come away from this pub with good comments but have not visited for a long time, at least 6 - 9 months, but the team they had on last night were exceptional which resulted in a lovely evening. Thank you to the young lady behind the bar taking our order and young lad serving our food and making sure all was good. We were looked after and praise should go to these two young staff members and know you were appreciated

We hadn't been to the Duke of Wellington for a while following a couple of experiences of badly cooked food, and terrible service, but we decided to give it another try after reports improved. I'm pleased to say that the food and service were excellent! In fact my wife said that her lamb shank was the best she had had for some time! Keep up the good work - we will be back soon.

Not the best , we went for lunch but it didn't start off well! Ordered Cokes which came in stained glass and half filled. Starters where poor , chorizo and prawn starter was disgusting,beef dumpling was ok but it came with weird grave which both myself and my wife couldn't stomach. To top it all my fork had several angles and looked like it had been jammed into the waste disposal unit. Then we had to ask for napkins which really should be given as standard. We didn't stay for the main!

Went here on the 29th December for my son’s 16th birthday for what we hoped would be a nice evening meal. Table was booked for 7 and we left at 9 as are food still hadn’t arrived even thought we had been told half an hour before it was being plated up. Crap pub don’t ever go here. Other people in pub we’re having same issue.

This was a visit to celebrate 2 adult birthdays, booked at quite short notice. We arrived a little early but were greeted and seated quickly, but without a rush. Having pre-ordered (there were 9 of us, 1 child, 7 adults and one in that age range when child or an adult can appear, depending upon time, conversation, mood [mostly mood] and in who's company he is in), only the drinks order needed to be taken and the drinks were delivered in a timely manner. We were well into getting updated and talking across each other when our meals arrived. These were hot, tasty and sufficient unto the hour. (that is to say, that they hit the spot).There were no complaints beyond, too much, I can't do a pudding. (That didn't stop all of us mind). Then came the bill . . . . . .Hmmmm Nowadays, I travel light. Credit and debit card on my phone, NO change, in fact, no real money at all. I can't remember the last time I used proper folding / jangling type money. "Can I add a tip onto the bill and pay by card, I asked. Sorry, no was the reply. "You can certainly pay the bill," she said, "but we can't add a tip." Really?? In this day and age of fast food and fast money, I can't add a tip to the bill? "How about you add a 10% service charge?" Again; "Sorry, no" was the reply. "You can certainly pay the bill," she said, "but we can't add a service charge." Really?? In this day and age of fast food and fast money, I can't add a service charge to the bill? Is this a regular thing I asked. No, we have done it before the lady said, but, we just can't do it now, the system won't let us. We left somewhat, richer than expected, but, somewhat disgruntled as well. In this day and age, tipping is more the norm than it ever was. We customers like to show our appreciation and a round of applause really won’t cut it in a restaurant. Can I ask that Greene King ensures that we, the food, buying, drink guzzling public can offer your staff our appreciation in a way that helps us all?

Just had a lovely Xmas meal at the Duke of wellington, the roast turkey dinner was one of the best I have ever had. The turkey was beautifully moist and all the veg was cooked to perfection and amazing value for money, will definitely be back again.

Gorgeous food and lovely atmosphere! After a bad experience in a nearby pub just before in Terling, we took a chance and managed to get a table in the bar area. We had the ‘sharing homemade nachos’ (gorgeous) starter and then I enjoyed the beef pie with mash and broccoli. My husband had the chicken and ham hock pie. We both couldn’t be happier with our meals (nice and hot too) and the attentive staff. We will 100 percent be back and will see you at the upcoming bottomless brunch in December. So glad we called in and parted with our money with you guys and not the pub before hand! Thank you!
