On such a hot Saturday afternoon whilst walking around the green after lunch at The Fox we needed an ice cream! The coffee ice cream is highly recommend.

Really nice breakfast and lovely staff. The beautiful village of Finchingfield is always top of my list when traveling this part of the country. This café/resturant serve Ice Cream outside on sunny days, have a super range of fresh local produce cooked to your liking.

Finchingfield is such a lovely village. We have visited many times & the 3rd time at Bosworths. We ordered for 4 people probably the simplest things on the menu. Sausage sandwiches, egg on toast & scrambled egg on toast. We waited an hour! Scrambled egg was microwaved to an inch of its life & so we’re the sausages. Absolutely awful breakfast. Fully appreciate it was a hot day and busy. Totally get that but for £28 for 4 which ended in 4 plates of discarded food not great. To make matters worse 2 of us had to stop 2 miles up the road due to stomach cramps! Think we will give it a miss in future which is a shame.

I like a nice scone and some generous cream, and perhaps home made jam would be nice. What I got were very ordinary small scones, a small pre-packed portion of cream and the standard 'jam in a small jar' I was disappointed.

A most pretty setting, the tea and cake selection is great. Deco will return here, gets very busy over the weekend but well worth it.

Nothing nicer than after a wander through this wonderful village to sit outside with a cup of tea or coffee, or even, a soft drink while overlooking the duck pond and village green. Why not treat yourself to a cream tea?

Sent cups back twice ringed from previous guests tea one with lip marks, no apology from staff just changed as though reg occurance and hastily slammed down into saucer. Sandwiches tasty, but the flies floating around the inside table including a blue bottle could possibly have given a second opinion plus the toilets needed a clean. Staff ok ish but very different to previous experience, could be made more enjoyable by having table cloths and fresh produce rather than the whack em in whack em out bare tabled pre sealed clotted cream experience today. We brought my mum following an illness and she wanted more tea, called waitress to add another tea and she automatically assumed we wanted bill, felt very rushed, not impressed especially as drove 1.5 hours to get there.

I have been coming here for years. I used to work in the area and it was always a good stop off for morning coffee or lunch. Many years ago I was filming in Finchingfield and took the crew for lunch. (They paid!). My wife and I took a drive out here today (14/07/17) and had a lovely lunch. This is a popular place and they do some nice food. Next door, is an antiques centre. They have some very nice items and it's good for a browse. The village itself is great for strolling around. Some of the buildings are very old indeed.

Have visited here before when cycling through for lunch. Today we stopped for breakfast which was good. What was a bit of a surprise was the Manager telling me to unplug my Garmin (which was only going to be in for 10 mins) and accused me of stealing. This isn't the only Tiptree restaurant I've visited and am surprised it was such an issue.

After my last complaint about cold plates in June 2016 I emailed Tiptree tea rooms head office. I was replied to with the usual sorry and in future the plates would be hot. Sad to say did not happen. Reluctantly we returned on August 9th 2016 with our Daughter and son in law who wanted to go there. My Husband said when we order I will ask can you make sure the plates are hot. I said say nothing and see if the assurances given by Head office have been taken on board. Alas no the four of us each had breakfast and as soon as I saw the server coming towards us with just the two plates she was carrying held with her bare hands knew instantly no hot plates. When I serve food up indoors my plates are too hot to handle without a tea towel. I detest having to bolt food down before it goes completely cold which does not take long in this tearoom as the minute the food is placed on the cold plate it takes the heat from the food. By the time you are half way through your breakfast the rest is barely warm. It is something obviously the Management seem unable to get across to their staff. This is not the experience I pay for when I eat out which to me is a lesser standard than I myself have. So no more visits for me here. I have worked in catering in years gone by and the order of the day was always hot plates and arriving at work each day and putting the ovens on in went the plates ready for service. I am surprised considering staff today have to have Health/Safety certificates to work in a food environment that they ignore this rule and even more surprised the management continue to let the staff get away with it. It is after all just slap dash to plonk food on to cold plates. Perhaps they get too much custom so could not careless whether a customer comes back or not. Well they have lost my custom and I am sure I am not the only one.

Went there with daughter and son in law who go there for breakfast regularly and they kept praising it up so said we will come with you next time you go. It was obvious the best ingredients were used as the flavours were lovely. We all had breakfast everything was cooked to perfection. Only one small moan plates needed to be warmer than they were. It is a good job it is an hour away from where we live otherwise would be going there too often and putting on weight. However could not fault it.

My father and I visited Bosworths on the Green at Finchingfield after a doctors visit. Dad had filter coffee and huge soft warm scone with clotted cream and cherry jam. I had perfectly cooked piping hot scrambled egg with tomato and a cappuccino. Both coffees and food really top quality. Thank you for making a doctors visit really special. We have to be return for results tomorrow - so Bosworths- here we come again! :-)

Visited today as a treat for my husbands birthday tomorrow and paid for by our grandchildren. Pot of tea was refilled on request and was really good. Sandwiches were well filled and the scones were lovely. Choice of cakes very good and the staff were friendly and efficient. We had a lovely afternoon tea and would definitely return again.

We had the Groupon voucher which made the afternoon tea even better. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Sandwiches lovely and fresh and cakes delicious. Well presented. One comment I would make is that there were 3 of the two types of sandwich for two people. Good job we didn't argue about it but just cut the third one in half. The tea rooms have just been taken over by Tiptree so lets hope it is allowed to be as individual as it is at the moment. A lovely afternoon tea thanks.

We would just like to say a huge thank you for such a thoroughly pleasant afternoon in your delightful tearooms. You were so kind and conscientious even when we arrived 30 mins late because we got misdirected by our sat nav. The afternoon tea tasted every bit as good as it looked. It's such a delight to find such scrumptious home-cooked baking and of such a high standard. My friend even commented that they hadn't had such a marvellous spread at 'the Ritz' , so very well done!!! A special thank you for taking extra special care of my platter with regards to my diabetes to ensure I didn't feel as spoilt as everyone else. The delightful boxes you packed our leftover goodies in for my husband to enjoy later at home,, really was going that extra mile! We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Bosworths Tearooms to anyone.

On arrival a couple of tables reserved and couple being used. Was not particually welcomed although more than enough staff . Was offered a small coffee table right next to the door.and asked if we were the groupon!! We had a afternoon tea booked with a group on vouche. Asked if we could sit at another table . yes that was fine. Was sat in the narrow walkway to the toilet and staff area. Sat down. served.very small pot of tea and 1 cup of coffee shortly follow by 1 bland salmon sandwich and 1 bland egg mayonaise sandwich which were cut into 3 fingers crust removed bit dry and not too fresh. def made a few hours earlier! 1 scone each some clotted cream and pot of tiptree jam freshly made and delicous. on the top tier 2 mini eclaires an 2 mini mereinges tasted homemade and nice and chewy with mango sauce.cream and blueberry's very scrumpious.. groupon price 12.95 for 2. full value 25.90 not worth the money. staff scruffy. And were not too sure how many there were. 1 even served us with her coat on... inattentive . loudly having conversations with other staff members and the short one that was wearing brown today should learn to keep her voice down . was having a conversation with friends . didnt come here to listen to your voice for the afternoon!! This is what Is needed A tidy up of staff uniform. Less noisey staff . rAsk your customers if they enjoyed what you food you gave them . freshly made sandwiches and just 1 extra sandwich added to the afternoon tea would be perfect. Drove an hour to go here . really disappointed could be so much better . wouldnt go again!! The sandwich nd staff are a let down....have some pride in what you do!!!

Touring through Essex we arrived in the lovely village of Finchingfield where we had lunch at Bosworth's. Although it was crowded we were served rather quickly by very friendly staff and enjoyed a delicious lunch (tasty prawn/avocado sandwich). It was too hot for us to sit on the terrace so we had our meal inside and were surprised of the space Bosworth's has.

Had a lovely trip over to Finchingfield at the weekend. Although the menu did look a little pricey it was a really lovely treat. We had lunch from the sandwich menu and it was really yummy, I would recommend to a friend and would go again on a different occasion. The staff were kind and the service was fairly quick. The only down side was perhaps the cleanlinesses of the toilets, they should maybe be checked more regularly. Other than that very minor point it was an enjoyable experience looking out on the beautiful scenery of Finchingfield.

You cannot fault the location of this eatery. Finchingfield is beautiful and this lovely establishment is right in the heart of it. The venue is really nice, very clean and well laid out. The staff on the day of our visit were basically polite but didn't really go out of their way to make us feel particularly welcomed, by no means was anyone rude but they didn't really say much at all. The only thing is, about £8 for a baguette? I know you are paying for the setting as well but I think that's a bit much. Our lunch; 2 sandwiches, a couple of milkshakes and a portion of chips came to around £22 which I think is just a little too overpriced. For that sort of money you do expect the food to be gourmet (it was very nice but pretty much what you'd expect) and for the staff to go out of their way to make you feel like that's reasonable. Maybe it's just a personal expectation but there we go!

we drove from Braintree today excited on having a lunch out in pretty Finchingfield. When we arrived we sat outside and were immediately visited by many wasps as they had lots of flowers outside that attract them. The whole demeanour of the catering staff was terrible and none of them showed any warmth or empathy. I asked for a draught beer but to be told the pumps not working and choose bottled. I had an order for 2 adults and 2 children but on feeding back to the curt woman serving me she snapped is that your order complete after me only listing myself and wife's order. I ordered 2 baguettes and 2 sandwiches for the kids but asking for a bowl of chips she stated I don't know if the fryer is working!!! At this point my whole good feeling about the afternoon changed and got worse with the many wasps joining us for company. I decided to ask for some crisps whilst we were wiring but again this seemed difficult to the bar lady and she eventually placed a few frazzled ridge crisps in a small white bowl and snapped that will cost you 80p. The food when arrived was soggy and average and after wasps being attracted to it we decided to go inside. On finishing the lunch I went to pay whilst the three female bar staff chatted about the private life in front of me and gave me no consideration or empathy. The overall experience was terrible which is a shame because the surrounding area is beautiful. To finish we decided to goto the adjacent ice cream parlour and again a very camp man showed no warmth or politeness as he robotically scooped our ice cream into very stale looking wafers. Will not recommend this place and will not be going back - shame

Found this lovely tea room on Thursday a couple of weeks ago. Extremely pretty and typical English village with A stream, ducks and geese as well as a gosling. We saw a church tower in the background, more tea rooms, a car park and a pub. In warmer weather this place must surely be bustling. My wife and I were given a very friendly welcome by Rita who gave us a superb pot of tea and delicious, warm scones. Also on the tray was a large pot of good cream and two pots of strawberry jam. David then gave us a bowl of strawberries which completed our afternoon tea. We had a very enjoyable afternoon and will return because this wonderful tea room also serves Sunday roast at their Sunday Carvery and at a very reasonable price too. Can't wait to return.
