The Beehive in St Albans

First time of visiting the Beehive, but won't be the last, its a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The garden is big with lots of booths and sesting and very comfortable. The food was also very good and lots of it! Definitely worth a visit!

Cosy, reasonably good pub in St Albans. Good range of Korean food and beers and nice beer garden at the back of the pub. New darts board which was good fun and tasty ramen dishes. We went on a Friday evening but staff were fine to start with & then became a little pre occupied with themselves and didn't seem interested in serving customers & came across as homophobic and a tiny rude. Other customers seemed upset too or weren't shown respect. That said, the ramen was enjoyable and reasonably priced. Possibly a busy day for the pub but thanks for great meal & enjoyable beers. Overall 6/10.

The manager was extremely rude and appeared to not want our business. Disappointing experience for a wedding party. Prioritised dogs over children of the wedding party. Would not return

Didn't have food, so rated 3. Staff are great and atmosphere is great fun with live band and fun locals. Only negative is the toilets were not nice. I know male toilets in pubs often are, but this was especially disgusting. Water (or other liquid) all over the floor and poo on the toilet seats. Might have been a one off bad night, but that's how it was for me.

Cost pub with a nice beer garden, this was my pub of choice along London Road while living in St Albans. The guest ramen menu is very good. Can be very noisy when even only half full both outside and in the garden due to the small rooms. Often see people with dogs inside.

Have always loved the Beehive, it was great 25 years ago and is great now.

The most amazing place in the world I would fully recommend for anyone, gent with short blonde hair was really accommodating! Would highly recommend this venue!

Had the Electra Fried Chicken Ramen it is to die for well recommend

It's quite good pub for a lager or two. Then when that's all said and done it's back home for a lovely long soak in the bath - with plenty of bubbles of course - followed by a clear-out then a nice lay down in a freshly made bed, and a little scroll on the phone. Finally, some "me" time - bliss 😊

Awful. Took 50 minutes for the first meal to come out and then another 20 minutes after that for the next one. Also had to go and get my own cutlery as none of the staff could be bothered. Go elsewhere.

Great location, good for sport, nice inside but is so often let down by staff that are consistently more interested in themselves and their plans and antics (told out at very high volume) rather than actually being at good at serving their customers. Shame really.

I've been a regular at the Beehive for nearly a year but only just got around to having my first taste of Ramen Elektra and - oh my - it was absolutely delicious.

A great pub, good service, nice atmosphere, lovely garden. And the Ramen?? Everyone should taste it - authentic and so tasty...

Went into the beehive with my partner for a drink and lunch on a saturday, have to say the atmosphere, service and food was perfect! I also found out that they show sport I will 100% be back and would thoroughly recommend!

I've visited The Beehive for the occasional dance/DJ and music events they host. Great atmosphere and friendly staff/service. Lovely garden area with separate heated booths. Just needs a bigger dance floor 😉. I haven't eaten so not rated food, but it (ramen) always looks delicious. Proper old-skool house, techno, breaks and DnB vibes on the DJ nights 🫶🏼.

Got all my favourite beer/ales on tap, nice, relaxed warm homely feel to this place with loads of board games to keep a group entertained. The highlight of this pub is the ramen! I can get good ramen without going to London but the concept of also having great beer gives a unique experience. One of favourite pubs in st Alban's!

The recent refurbishment has made it look great, very lively and a fun place to go, one of my favourite pubs in the town.

Extremely rude. Accused me and my friends of getting an extra pint for free. The woman was very rude about the situation and even if this was the case, which is was not, trying to pin the blame on someone who didn’t even order is so completely wrong. I would never come here again

Went on a Friday lunchtime to try the ramen electra menu. It was quite quiet but we actually found that a benefit as we went with our small baby. Really pleasantly surprised having never been in this pub before. We found lovely decor, friendly staff and good food. Prices were reasonable too, given portion sizes. Only slight downside was the lack of ramp/level access for the buggy. Will definitely be back!

A real sign of a good place is how they deal with unintentional issues and the Beehive did a great job. Unfortunately our order for food didn't make it through to the kitchen. However once this was realised the team here went above and beyond to get our food prioritised and brought out as quickly as they could and were really friendly about doing it. And the food itself was fantastic. Great ramen! And we were nicely on time for our film so thank you all very much! Will definitely come back!

Can't give zero stars but that would be the preferred option due to an absolutely shocking service by a so-called manager who thinks it is acceptable to firstly complain she has to serve a group of paying customers, refuses to get ice for the drinks, and then finally tells the paying customers to F*** off. The reaction came from nowhere, was completely unprovoked and totally unnecessary. Even another member of the bar staff couldn't understand what had happened or why. Our group was not loud, drunk or rude in anyway, there was simply no reason or excuse for the treatment received. An email has been written but as the only email address is for the manager, a reply is not expected

2 years ago I came here and recieved horrible service and wrote a 1 star review, Saturday I went back and then took down my review because the beehive has gone through a seismic shift. I was absolutely thrilled with the food service and generally everything. Although we were in on a busy day and they said the food would be 45 minutes the atmosphere and drinks made that go by in a breeze and it was absolutely delicious the change to the more Asian style food is a stroke of genius considering the area is flooded with pubs with standard pub food and the beehive stands as a gem in the rough with a good selection of draught drinks and food. I would say that after my experience 2 years ago they definitely deserve all positive reviews and everything coming thier way. Very impressed and will visit again.

We always visit during the daytime. Nicely decorated pub with a great courtyard garden area which includes several lovely booths for small groups and an outside TV. Staff are always lovely.

Went for meal with friends, staff were welcoming and helpful. Ordered the ramen and they were helpful with any questions I had, the service was very quick and the food was fantastic! Highly recommend and will be back soon!

A fair local pub with reasonable 'everything'. Nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. So worth stopping off for a couple at any time.

Liked the look from outside but less character inside. Large open bar. Madge took a quick half. Lots of TV'S. A younger crowd than the nearby pubs.

Very accommodating with gluten-free options and taking it very seriously. The cider and the gin & tonic were good. Staff was very nice. Excellent Ramen. Outdoor space lovely too. Good spot for a nice day at the pub.

The staff were lovely but the burgers took an hour when they said 30 mins (apparently a policy to make the food ordered by people who had booked a table before those who had not despite the order in which you place your order - a new one for me!) and we all agreed the worse burgers we’ve had in our life. Good for drinks but literally the worse for food hence the reluctant one star. We did say this to the waitress but nothing happened. I guess business is booming and they don’t need return customers or a continuing good reputation

The pub's menu is underwhelming since they have replaced traditional pub food with ramen. Although ramen is not bad, it is quite restrictive. Nevertheless, the pub itself is delightful as a venue.

My son and I had a very enjoyable visit.We had a delicious lunch, excellent starters and then noodlle soup from their Ramen menu. All very tasty and well presented. The bar staff were friendly and efficent and Liv who served us at our table was faultles and charming. I would have no issues recommending the Beehive to any of my friends.

The pub is a 4 star but Ramen Electra hosted out of the Beehive is a 5+ star. It emerged during the Covid pandemic as a once a week pop-up and became a regular lockdown treat / saviour for us so I'm glad it's become a permanent feature. I love ramen and the offering at Ramen Electra is sooo good. Better even than Tonkotsu and most other ramen restaurants in London. Go for the food!

We had a lovely meal at The Beehive's in-house Ramen Electra restaurant. Friendly team and yummy food. A great local find. Dog friendly too!

My partner and I stumbled upon this place by chance whilst in St Albans. We were first really impressed by the cozy pub ambiance and decided to have lunch there. Wow! The chef knows his stuff. The food was amazing. So much flavour. The Cauliflower Wings starer were fantastic and the Ramen Electra was the best I've tasted. I noticed vegan options also. I loved the simplicity of the menu, yet great options. The staff were great, very knowledgeable and passionate about the food and they were helpful with our order. Making sure we didn't over order due to the decent size portions. We will definitely be back, sooner rather than later I hope, and I will be sharing this little gem of a find with my friends and family. Thank you all at the Beehive!

Lovely and cozy , this is a great pub! Had a delicious chicken burger and chips were to die for.

The food was tasteless and we had to wait for it for an hour. Altogether a very disappointing experience.

After many years a pub that had rediscovered it's Mojo! Great selection of real ales and lagers in a buzzing and young pub vibe atmosphere but in a traditional pub atmosphere.

This is the pub to go to for live football matches, with different games on inside and outside in the garden. The mood inside is always good with no unpleasant rivalry.

Really bad experience in this pub, ordered kids food that took 30 mins to arrive, staff were really defensive when we complained and when the food arrived the chicken from the kids menu was so peppery that it was spicy.

Loved this pub, it has a great atmosphere. Staff were really good, the garden was lovely with both small and larger seated area's that you could feel the buzz of people but felt u had your own area. I will definitely go again

This is a great place for sky sports and some good beers, selection of gins and wines. I would not recommend this as a pub for food. Vegan burger was pretty tasteless and very greasy and chilli and rice was also tasteless (it seemed to be old and microwaved). The fish and chips was ok. Our meals were expensive for what they were although in line with current prices elsewhere. I'd come back here for a drink with friends though...

Great sports pub with a very good selection of gin! Outside booths are brilliant, if you get there early enough to bag one. Small menu with very limited choice for vegetarians/vegans. This is a pub to visit for sports and alcohol, rather than food!

Toptastic beer. May have had one or two pints of excellent Tribute. Matey boy necked a couple of ice cold ciders. Good crowd, not too busy, lots of punters having nosh, nothing left behind, so couldn't even nick a chip😊

I’ve got to complain because the chicken katsu burger I’ve just eaten is the best chicken burger I’ve ever eaten, so now it’s ruined all future chicken burgers I’ll ever come across!

Good pub with many tvs for the sport. Nice outside area but sun blocked by the trees which is great when hot but can also be chilly. Recommend it

Great seeing this pub still thriving (haven’t visited for many years, but used to be a regular). Friendly service, good range of beers, food good but could do with a few more vegan options.

Never been here before but the staff were friendly and they serve a good coffee as well as great food. Not too busy on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm so if you want a late lunch in St Albans this is the place to be. It's a bigger inside than you think and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Plenty of nooks to sit in. Well cared for and parking available in the London Road carpark.

Been coming here for a few years now on and off, probably my favourite pub in St Albans. Always enjoy meeting up with friends here, although it's only a short walk into the town centre, the pub never feels over crowded and you can get served relatively quickly on a Saturday night. Good selection of beers and good place to watch sport

Overwhelmed with food orders when we visited. Nice beer garden.

First time at this pub and was a good experience. I had the scampi and chips whilst my friend had the nachos. Food was ok and not expensive. Watched the football. Would return .

My wife and I popped in this lovely pub on the off chance and we are trying to support local pubs .we had some lovely wine and a few beers plus some nibbles and were able to watch the football on a big screen with plenty of space and a few friendly locals who shared our love of sport . The pub also has a hat den with covered seating ideal for outside drinking . The pub inside has a great choice of beers and the wine was great too . Service friendly and obliging.
