We have never had food, but the service is always friendly and has a nice atmosphere.

Unreal atmosphere, cosy pub, super clean. It’s the place to be especially once the DJ starts.

I absolutely love the place and the staff members. It's always such a good experience. If this place was slightly bigger for the night weekends, it would've been amazing. 😊 Being a regular, I do wish that the DJ would sometimes change the repetitive playlist. Good music, though. Thank you to everyone there. X

Great pub to watch formula 1 on a Sunday afternoon

Nice place for a Thursday afternoon drink. We sat outside on the roof terrace - which was nice and open. Good variety of beers.

Best pint of Guinness this side of the water. Tayto selection. Staff lovely. Proper pub the Gaelic’s would be proud.

Amazing pub hidden in a side street saint Albans, really enjoyed how the inside of the pub looks, we had a wonderful time sitting outside in the sunshine, the service was quick and polite, I was in a small group of people and we had a great time and will definitely return, I think its definitely worth a visit if you want a great pub in saint Albans

Fancied a couple of pints to unwind, pleasant evening, not too busy, seating outside. Decent beers, excellent staff, really friendly, what I would call a traditional boozer.

The live band played a great mix of songs. Had difficulty parking nearby.

Busy pub in St.Albans with lots of space. They have a roof terrace which gets full when the sun is out. They also have outdoor seating on the ground floor along with their cozy indoor seatings. We ordered a drink and relaxed outdoors. Had decent non-alcoholic options as well.

This is how you, as a German, imagine a typical British pub. Plenty of selection of draft beer

Great pint of Guinness and a lovely roof terrace!

Went for a Saturday afternoon drink and was interrupted by two out of control children, running around and playing with utensils from the fine place. Their guardian was clueless about how to control children, so when one of them nearly burned themselves on a candle l mentioned it to the landlady who dealt with it swiftly and professionally. Two complimentary drinks later, we would definitely be back!

Popped into the white swan saturday on a weekend trip. Lovely pub, but spoilt by the constant swearing of one of the barmen and also the , " I hate people". comment...very reassuring, won't be coming again sorry...how one man can change your mind, it's a shame

Nice pub. Popped in to have a rest after a busy day trip to lovely St Albans. Had my first pint of beer in England on a Saturday afternoon in May. Abbott red ale was recommended, and it was very nice. Really glad we chose the White Swan.

Cocktails (strawberry daikiri) were quite good but extremely tiny. The terrace is so lovely, I loved it and the workers were really nice and friendly 😊

What a fantastic venue. Seating available outside, great traditional feel inside and an amazing roof terrace. Michelle showed us round, we finished up on the terrace enjoying a lovely chilled vibes and a crisp cold beer.

We popped in to catch the footie on the spur of the moment, friendly bar staff, great service and pub smelt of zoflora, lovely and fresh. I've been here before for music, great pub.

Popped in for a drink with some friends to celebrate a birthday and our group got asked to leave due to a drunk young girl attempting to join our table and hurling abuse at one of our group for no reason. Seems the staff didn’t want to do the right thing and ask the offending person to go - we were the easier target, being in our late 40s and too old and laid back to argue. I will never set foot in this place again.

Stopped into The White Swan when killing time in St Alban's and was pleasantly surprised. From outside the pub looks like an old locals kind of place. However, inside the interior is modern without the expense of the old charm. The Guinness on tap is one of the best I've had outside of Ireland. Special thanks to Michelle, who was great to talk to about the local area, suggesting things to do.

Dog friendly. Dog treats offered, as well as a water bowl. Immaculate friendly back street pub. Nice beer, real fire. What more do you want?!!

Nice little pub but no wine glasses. We asked 3 times whilst there and both bar staff refused to look for a glass even though we observed others getting a wine glass fresh from the dishwasher.

We love this place! Particular mention to Michelle who is always so friendly and accommodating to us whether we are with our daughter or not. We would definitely recommend!

Good pub, great for live sport on TV

We enjoyed a drink in this pleasant old pub in the centre of St Albans. My partner had a pint of Guinness, which was very good and is apparently the most popular beer served in the pub. I had a small bottle of Prosecco and both drinks cost £13. It was quite busy as people were calling in for a drink after work, and there was a good atmosphere.

What a lovely, friendly and welcoming pub this is. Just popped in for a Sunday drink and we were greeted like old friends. The red wine was delicious, a log fire and the sport on TV was not overwhelming like some places. We had a wander around and saw the roof terrace, everywhere was clean, warming and we definitely recommend a visit. Michelle introduced herself by name and explained some of the photos and pictures on the walls. Apparently their Guinness is the best, so we will sample that on our next visit. Feeling cold and fed up on a dull winters day in town? Pop in to the Swan and enjoy their log fire, friendly welcome and maybe some sport on TV or maybe not. In summer there are tables outside and the roof terrace catches the sun.

A large group of us from a wedding party came in for some drinks before the ceremony- staff were excellent and a very nice homely atmosphere. Fast service and great price drinks.

Went back to my old local on Saturday evening with my wife late and had the best time ever. We so much missed the atmosphere. Best pub ever. Bob & Penny.

Disgustingly rude pub- from the bouncers to the barstaff, horrible service, horrible staff. For the service you’re given the drinks should be free!

Popped in for a drink earlyish on a Friday. No queueing, got served straight away, and got a seat. Nice old style pub in the centre St albans. They had a live band on later that night. Also has a roof terrace round the back.

We were very well looked after by Michelle especially as we had a disabled person with us. Also I would highly recommend The White Swan for its beer and for watching Sport.

First time I have visited - I moved away from area some 35 years back - just on a re- visit. Fabulous place - friendly staff. A total gem. Hand pulled ales extremely well kept - a perfect pint. Did not eat so afraid cannot comment there and have left review rating blank for such. Will I revisit - definite yes if in area again.

Awful experience with a bar lady towards my friend. She was so rude and refused to serve us for god knows what reason then when I questioned as to why she was acting the way she did she told me “she did not care” for what I had to say. We got into a bit of an argument and she was just outright rude. She said her name was Angela but I do not know if that was true (she did not speak with an English accent). Will not be back here as that has competely put me off.

Nice friendly city centre pub, good range of drinks at reasonable prices. There's a nice secluded roof terrace area which is a real sun trap. We'll worth a visit.

Great pub, music, drinks, and bar staff are lovely. Door men are brilliant and so respectful. Roof terrace is cute, and as a woman, I feel safe going there and letting my hair down.

Lovely pub and very friendly staff. Being a guinness drinker from Ireland I'm always reluctant to drink guinness in England due to previous experiences, however the guinness was spot on in here - nicest I've had in England.

Since when was reserving seats in a pub that doesn't serve food a thing!!! Came in and couldn't get a seat because 2 large tables had "reserved" signs on them...yet no one turned up in the time we were there. We were a group of 4. Service was good though hence 3 stars

The bouncers are awful They wouldn't allow my two male friends in as the pub was too busy but allowed two females in. When my friends started to question why they weren't allowed in the bouncers 4 of them took one of my friends to floor and held the other one. Now all I can think off is that they are racist due to the fact they had an issue before eith them and they do anything wrong either that particular time.

The pub has a real cosy welcoming feel about it, open fire and friendly vibe. Great heated rooftop garden too.

Went Boxing Day 2021. Wow. Went Boxing Day 2022. Duh(!) Music on one speaker and low atmosphere. I asked bar staff if they could fix the speakers, not swearing or being in the slightest bit aggressive (I just asked), I a negative response. As I write this, the music is near silent and atmosphere is tepid at best. I love this place on a normal day... Update. They said the speakers were fixed. Tunes OK.. Speakers just not working. Bar staff working.landlord? Bar manager fronted it... Heading home now. Boxing Day 2022. Could have been better. BUT don't forget the rest of the year. Great place. One example. My partner was alone and had a cold. Two youngervlocals made sure they were OK...:)

Good pub for sport good choice beers and staff who know what doing recommend to anyone visiting the town..

The bouncers physically assaulted a member of our group and were incredibly rude and obnoxious. Would not go here again, especially given the number of other wonderful pubs where people are treated as human beings, not dogs!!
