We had to wait about 25 minutes for our food to be served after ordering it at the bar. The portions of food were good and it was hot. Our position by the window was a little cold. Eventually the adjacent radiator was turned on. The waitress was friendly and returned to ask if the meal was alright - we confirmed it was fine. She also helped in providing drawing paper and pencils for our 4 year-old grand-daughter. None of the cask ales were available thus reducing our choice of beer drinks.

Pub in the Centre of Cambridge that is owned by the Greene King group. Ales were excellent - I had a pint of Landlord and my wife had a Greene King IPA. We had rather a problem with our Steak & Ale pie because it didn't contain any actual steak!! So I was left wondering "where's the beef?" We returned it and the staff were very good about it even going so far as to refund me the entirety of my order. I hadn't asked them to do that so they went above and beyond in that sense. But the excuses for the steak and ale pie not containing any steak was "we buy it in from outside, we don't make it in-house". Huh? That sat oddly with both me and my wife because surely if you are in charge of serving up food (£13.75 for the steak and ale pie) then you have some quality control which checks whether the food is, you know, any good? Either way it didn't seem much of an excuse! Also the chips were first served lukewarm and definitely not fresh. They were replaced swiftly enough. Walking into this pub we wanted a simple small pub lunch but walking out with nothing in our stomachs we were wondering if Greene King breweries spend much time on quality control of the food they are buying in to their pubs? We were then told to go next door to Bread & meat which we then did and had an outstanding lunch. We ordered the Philly Cheeseteak. Which contained masses of lovely succulent tasty shredded beef topped off by yummy melted Cheese. I suppose it's the difference between making something with love in a place that is your dream versus big chain mass production which is most certainly not made with love. And not only not made with love but not even made in-house! Thanks for refunding me my money. I'd have preferred a real lunch with real steak in a real steak and ale pie.

Family of 6 and 2 small dogs. Reserved a table which was available to us earlier than the booked time if we wanted it ( we did!). Very good customer service skills by all staff members. Each of our dinners was devoured from lovely hot plates.

My parents have been here multiple times and recommended it as a great place for my 30th birthday meal! The food is incredible! Firstly, the menu is so varied and I wanted SO many things on there, it was hard to choose. I settled for the starter of Beef Croquettes with Wasabi Mayo and my main was beef rendang with rice. Both were delicious and full of flavour. I also tried the Bang Bang Cauliflower which was SO tasty! The highlight of the meal was the apple crumble though .. beautifully sweet and sugary. It is expensive here but so worth it for the quality! Thank you for making my birthday so special!

First time visit since the refurb and very impressed! Very spacious restaurant with a good atmosphere. Excellent choice of menu options and the food was outstanding! We received excellent service and will absolutely come again! Shout out to the Chef for an excellent well filled pie, a delicious roast dinner and one of the best burgers my step-son has ever had!
