The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

What a find! This cute & quirky tea room is full of helpful, friendly staff, gorgeous furniture & decor, and delicious food & cakes. Gluten free is available at no extra charge! Variety of milks available. Currently the decor theme is Charlie & The Chocolate Factory but the ladies tell me it changes every 8-10 weeks. Such dedication! And it makes me want to go back and take it all in all over again. Maybe worth booking as it is a tiny venue - but the best things come in small packages!

Hadn't been here for some while, so decided to take advantage of their 3 courses for the price of 2 set lunch deal. I started with the duck spring rolls and the wife had a very nice soup. We followed with very tasty mains and rounded off with tiramisu and coffees to close. All very nicely prepared and tasty, as always. The students are just learning their respective roles in hospitality, so they do need to be brushing up on their serving skills and customer service etiquette but that's what they are there for! The food is always good and the choices give the chefs a wide range of preparation experience and we've always found they come up to the mark. Well done all!

Good food at a good price but ,do they really have to have that loud radio playing a row while your trying to talk and eat ,they used to have smooth or similar station playing well known hits which was ok ,but now it's really annoying,it makes me want to leave and not go back ,,don't get me wrong I love music but this is just not on

It feels like home from home, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The food is fresh, presented beautifully and at a decent price! You aren't just getting a great meal or drink though, you become part of the community to help people develop their catering and hospitality skills. You'll leave feeling full of nice food and the positive warm fuzzy vibes

I had bought a wheel of tete de moine last Christmas, which The Cheese Plate had posted to me. It was great and I wanted another one this Christmas but this time I thought I'd drive up to Buntingford and see what else they have. Fortunately I was able to buy their last wheel of tete de moine, which, surprisingly, was the same price as last year! But they had some lovely other cheeses too - a spread of English, French, Swiss, Italian and Spanish I believe. The highlight was the creamy/gooey gorgonzola but I also bought a small pot of garlic jelly - something I hadn't seen before and an excellent morbier, far better than what's on offer in supermarkets.

We have eaten here for Sunday roast and enjoyed a recent 'round the world' evening (Caribbean). The staff are wonderful ... really welcoming and attentive throughout. The food ..... omg!! You can smell how wonderful it's going to be, as soon as you park your car ... It is absolutely delicious 😋... the roasts are gorgeous, loads of tender meat/choice and beautifully cooked veg.. with a huge yorkshire pud ... that I wish I could master, but why bother when you can come to the L&R!! 🤔😁 The themed nights are tapas style with loads of meat/veg/hot/cold options and believe me.... each dish just absolutely melts in your mouth, and all are all so full of flavour and perfect balance of herbs/spices.... just simply delicious. Before each time we've been, we said to each other... 'we're not having desert' ... then seeing what comes out of the kitchen.. that statement went out the window!! Once you've finished, you can also then take home a selection of goodies ... pastries/pies/cakes etc from the fabulous deli counter... and I challenge you not to eat them before you get home ... or eat them as soon as you do get home ... as they smell, look, and taste so delicious. There's a fabulous choice of beers and lovely wines. Please visit, you will not be disappointed. Thank you L&R... keep up the good work and delicious food... and as Annie said .... we'll be back!! I love the place, it is nice and comfy, very homey. The menu is very good however what knocks it out of the park is the team! Ewa and the rest of the team really take it to the next level

Popped in whilst on a central line pub crawl and found this hidden gem! Coffee and beers available and their menu looked delicious but we didn’t eat

What a truly fabulous old fashioned pub with very welcoming landlady Anni and her customers, especially Janet and Peter, when we joined in Quingo yesterday afternoon. It was thrilling to win the picture quiz. The room was warm and cosy due to its great wood burner stove. The complimentary sandwiches were an added bonus! Thank you so much for the welcome and will join you all again in the New Year.

Just visited The Grove Restaurant for their Christmas menu and the food and service has been excellent, would highly recommend to all. Thanks for a lovely meal! 👍

Had an INCREDIBLE Afternoon Tea at Cups and Cakes Cafe today. Everything was PERFECTION! The attention to detail and thought that has gone into each of the homemade delicious bakes and sandwiches were out of this world yummy. We had a delicious variety of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cheese scones with cream cheese and chutney, fruit scones with clotted cream and jam, strawberry fruit tarts, galaxy chocolate cupcakes, banoffee pies and of course, copious amounts of tea! Would thoroughly recommend Cups and Cakes for the personalized and friendly service too. I've experienced a lot of Afternoon Teas over the years and this was definitely the best! Qué maravillosa noche para nuestra fiesta de cumpleaños recientes - enmarcada en un excepcional lugar de paneles de madera/habitación con vistas hacia el bosque desde el campo de golf (hoyo 19). Servicio de primera clase y catering top y todos estábamos de acuerdo en que era uno de los mejores partidos habían sido a cualquiera en los últimos años. Lugar y catering altamente recomendado para fiestas y eventos, y el menú de día parecía por encima del promedio para los golfistas. Excelente opción de bar y cerveza. Me pregunto si se puede comer allí y no ser un miembro? Sería bueno también!

I have a toasted sandwich I love, it's antipodean in origin and I call it the Jademan sandwich. It has bacon cheese and tomato with hot sauce and banana. Many have made this sandwich for me over the last 24 years in the UK but none make it better than Gary and he certainly is the best company if he has the time, while you wait :-) The prices are also very reasonable, especially for the breakfasts and burgers. Good tasty food at a good price.
