The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

The breakfast patties and the buns were burnt. The order was completely incorrect as well. Cheese when asked for no cheese. Flatbread instead of wrap. The worse McDonald’s I’ve ever eaten. Do not go here.

Upon arriving there weren’t many people in the restaurant. We ordered 2 portions of mac and cheese, a child’s chicken nuggets and chips and a cold sandwich. All the hot food was stone cold. I spent 10 minutes searching through the utensils pot to try and find a clean set. The hot drinks from the hot machine were cold and the mugs were dirty. The staff were rude and when giving them our dirty plates he slammed them down on the table and walked away. Overall, not worth it, never coming back

Wish I’d never walked in the place, the woman was on her own & very angry at her boss (Ian) she was swearing & openly talking about him & the problems in the cafe in front of customers. Yes she was very over worked & on her own for my first 15 minutes there but she was not professional at all & the way she spoke to us was very rude & unwelcoming, now on to the food, it was absolutely disgusting, ordered a large breakfast, the eggs were covered in horrible dirty black bits & I couldn’t eat them, the bacon was undercooked & beans were tasteless & fried bread was very overcooked, the sausages were ok, the mushrooms were like leather, then the presentation was just like it had been thrown on the plate, I couldn’t eat it. Please go elsewhere, I don’t know how this place still exists, the place is an absolute dump too! An absolutely horrible experience. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

Overpriced, but aside from that the staff were all rude children - they didn't smile, didn't say hello or anything and just ignored us when we were waiting to be seen. These kids need some adult supervision and some training.

Visited on a weekday at 12 noon. Two people sitting in the window. My order was taken by an unsmiling, scruffily dressed girl who didn’t greet me, smile or say Thankyou when she took my order and payment . I would have ordered some cake but what was on display looked dire and unappealing. I waited over 15 mins for a cup coffee which was slammed down on the table! The cup wasn’t full and not very nice and together with the too loud jazz music playing in the background was not an experience I will be repeating. Strays is in a prime position in the square and should be a thriving business. This place needs an overhaul, a manager, and good staff to re- invent it to its full potential.

Hadn’t been here for a good few months as I wasn’t impressed with the food or service but I thought I’d give the breakfast a try once more and it was the best choice by far! The food was cooked to perfection and tasted lovely. I hope it stays this way.

Visited today large portions, great price and really tasty.

Aplastó coches en el aparcamiento, la zona del patio exterior cubierto de suciedad, al entrar en el hotel se asemeja a un sitio de construcción abandonado, la habitación que nos dieron era sucia, apestaba a sudor y tabaco rancio, una pulgada de polvo en la cabecera de la cama y en la esquina de la alfombra, el hotel habitado claramente por personas con adicciones a las sustancias o al alcohol, la vista desde la ventana era un techo con cientos de restos de cigarrillos en él, (ver olor a tabaco rancio comentario más arriba) , este es sin duda el peor lugar en el que hemos tenido la desgracia de alojarse y personalmente no conozco una persona que pasaría una noche en este lugar. Nos alojamos 10 minutos, nos reservé en el Ibis 2 millas más abajo de la carretera. Una queja severa planteada con booking.com que debería avergonzarse de tener este hotel en su sitio web. ¡Necesita cerrar!

Staff were clueless, quiche & salad had no taste a very disappointing visit. Long queues to be served. Tables sticky and not particularly clean. I expected far better

Them cake rolls in the glass cabinet are years old, was soooo post off to get served with rushty smelling old products 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I love a good garden centre cafe. They're normally such bubbly, relaxed, lovely places, full of middle-aged people enjoying a cake before buying another aspidistra. But not this one. This is the garden centre anti-cafe. The staff could not be slower - the queue for ordering food was more than twenty minutes despite staff standing about chatting. Then, they ran out of most vegetarian food options, including chips. But nobody had told the person taking the orders, so they happily took payment, which then needed refunding and re-ordering. It's a total mess. To add insult to injury, though this place is dog-friendly, my dogs were made to feel much less than welcome. A member of staff loudly and publicly berated me for feeding mine a sliced-up sausage roll.

Don't want to be able to see the waitresses underwear when eating my nearly cold, badly cooked food. longer skirt and different chef would be advised.

Will not stop here again, every time we have stopped there have been more toilets out of service. This time only my husband went and said they were filthy so I didn't bother using the ladies. If you can hold on until Tibshelf, only 16 miles further on.

dirty place,very rough.dirty floor, in need of a big spend on the place to update.cheap, but i would pay more for better.toilets very dirty, walls need a clean and paint. not a place to go, avoid.

Thought I'd try chips from here, never again, hot, hard and absolutely tasteless, I'm now nursing a burnt tongue.
