I love a good garden centre cafe. They're normally such bubbly, relaxed, lovely places, full of middle-aged people enjoying a cake before buying another aspidistra. But not this one. This is the garden centre anti-cafe. The staff could not be slower - the queue for ordering food was more than twenty minutes despite staff standing about chatting. Then, they ran out of most vegetarian food options, including chips. But nobody had told the person taking the orders, so they happily took payment, which then needed refunding and re-ordering. It's a total mess. To add insult to injury, though this place is dog-friendly, my dogs were made to feel much less than welcome. A member of staff loudly and publicly berated me for feeding mine a sliced-up sausage roll.

If I could give this no stars I would. So waited in a queue for ages whilst one person was serving yet there were 2 other members of staff who could clearly see people waiting (who were stood around) .. Anyway finally got served by a not very receptive staff member,, no apology for keeping us waiting, to be told there was no food being served as they had no cook. They were only serving tea & scones. My questions are why wasn’t there a sign up informing people because we would of left (& not wasted our time waiting to be served) & what then were the other 2 members of staff doing if they weren’t cooking food. Absolute disgusting. It’s a shame as the garden centre is great. Cafe needs an overhaul, especially teaching customer service skills. If your not happy in your job which was evident then quit.

Recently came for lunch here for in the queue @ 11:20 , did not get served with my coffee until 11:45 , the person doing the drinks was so slow . Tables were dirty , there was no cutlery, we have been here several times and it happens every time we come . Needs more staff by the looks of it .

We recently lunched here, midweek, whilst visiting Glebe Garden Centre. I had a prawn sandwich, £5, my husband had a bacon, cheese & mushroom baguette, £6 and my mother in law chose from the specials board, a very reasonably priced choice of 4 items. She chose a roast chicken dinner, £6.50. My sandwich was delicious, on really good wholemeal bread. My mother in law enjoyed her roast chicken dinner, as did my husband with his baguette. I would have given the cafe 5 stars because the food was excellent and very reasonably priced but the young girls behind the counter unfortunately let the cafe down. One of them was rolling her eyes at elderly customers who were taking their time, I saw one lady place her order, then she took her elderly mother to sit down, whilst waiting for the coffees to be prepared. The young girl preparing the coffee turned round and announced to the rest of the customers in the queue, 'Where's she gone? How rude!' She thought she was expected to deliver the coffees to the table, however the lady returned (oblivious) to collect the coffee, she merely needed to seat an elderly lady who was unable to stand for long. When placing my order she was quite surly and not very friendly, she forgot to put milk for the tea on my tray so I had to return to ask for some but received no apology. The other young girl was busy filling up salt and pepper pots rather than dealing with the queue waiting. I suggest some customer skills training for your counter staff so that the staff can be as excellent as the food you served.
