No volveremos

Good food no complaints on that....enjoyed.But waited sometime for food after ordering....waited 20 minutes for plates to be removed and asked if we would like desserts.Seems staff are busy, and not checking who needs serving. If they had their own areas to attend iam sure they would see what was going on clearer, and customers attended to quicker. After reading other reviews staffing seems to be the main problem yet it's still going on!!!!Needs dealing with asap before a nice place no longer exists..

This was our third visit to The Lime Tree. Yet again delicious food, really lovely staff and brilliant atmosphere. Bar staff were very busy but efficient, polite and friendly. The Prosecco served in martini style glasses with strawberries was such a good start to the evening! There were 4 of us and ordering was made complicated by our request to have some starters followed by more starters with mains! R our waitress, with great humour and a big smile got it all completely correct and we got exactly what we ordered. Fish and Chips, Pizza, Mussels and Pâté were all cooked to perfection. The Cheesey garlic bread is particularly good. Well Done Chefs. I was delighted to find the Flapjack Brownie dessert was on the specials menu again. Heaven on a plate! Please don't stop including it! An extensive menu, appropriately priced. This is just what we needed in Whetstone. Keep up the great work.

Rang last minute Sunday afternoon for a table for 8 and they managed to fit us in. Carvery was lovely we especially liked being able to help ourselves to as many Yorkshires as we liked, some restaurants are fussy about this and we are huge yorkie fans! Food was hot, table was set lovely and the staff were attentive. Name has now changed to The Lime Tree. Overall nice sunday dinner. Had better had worse. :-)

We visited here last night for a birthday meal and have no complaints. We decided to pay for drinks separately at the bar. Meal wise, 10 people in total came to less than £80 which was very surprising, food tasted good, was warm and all came out together. Staff were friendly, you could tell they were inexperienced but apart from that they were welcoming and did nothing wrong.I would definitely visit again.

This could be just what the area needs, however disappointingly poor I found it.A very busy Friday night may be the excuse but the food was average at best. They are trying to compete with the Bakers Arms style and missing the mark by a long way. Bar prices are expensive, food prices expensive for the quality.Same standard of steak as the Manor- and that's Buy one get one Free. The service was poor, slow to react, lack of smiles at the bar etc. Ella was great though.I am a food snob and I like quality- I will give this another chance but not in a rush.

We visited on a Saturday night having booked for 8.00pm. We had been a few times since the pub was re-launched and had enjoyed it. The bar was very busy and we had to queue for about ten minutes to say that we had arrived. (they really need a separate space for diners to book in). We were then taken through into the restaurant at 8.00pm (there was then a whispered conversation between the waitress and the manager) only to be told that our table wasn't ready. We were then taken back to the bar and had to queue again to get drinks! Not a good start! About ten minutes later we were taken back to the restaurant and seated. Five minutes later our wine arrived but it wasn't the one we had ordered. Apparently they had run out of chilled white wine. Five minutes later another bottle of wine arrived plus some drinks that we hadn't ordered. It was very busy and it just seemed like the staff were trying their best but really didn't know what they were doing. Our food was good but very different from other times when we have eaten there e.g. the tikka masala was completely different both in taste and in the way it was served. I think it is obviously very early days and I am sure that it will settle down but we had taken friends with us and assured them it was good and quite frankly it was disappointing. The staff all seem to be trying hard but it needs to be sharper and more organised. We will go again at some point.

Went for a family Sunday lunch and it was delicious and the service excellent. couldn't fault anything at all. However visited on a Wednesday night after booking a table earlier that day and they were obviously having a bad day. Hadn't got a table to start with and then the items we wanted weren't available. Eventually got served and the food was still delicious even though not first choice. There were 2 other tables we know of that were complaining due to delays and wrong meals being sent out etc. We had decided to go back there because my husband had really enjoyed his first meal which was great because he has had treatment which meant he hadn't been enjoying his food and this had been a turning point. Unfortunately the second time we went we ate far too late because of the wait which rather took the shine off the evening. We probably will go again because the food is good and hopefully the poor service was just a one off.

Refurbished and now The Lime Tree. Nine of us arrived and were shown to a really nice table. The décor was 'shabby chic', pleasant and comfortable. A good range of spacious seating. The service was great, just enough time between courses and reasonably priced. My poached salmon was cooked perfectly and vegetables just right. It is what it is, pub food. No disasters and everyone seemed ok with their choices. However, the ice cream machine wasn't co-operating so my summer pudding sundae had collapsed and was running down the side of the sundae glass.Had pooled on the table and had dripped on the floor just missing me. A cloth would have been helpful. The apple and sultana crumble was rather stodgy but overall a very pleasant evening.

Lovely atmosphere. The food was tasty but not presented at all well. A few salad leaves would have made a big difference to the scampi (six or seven pieces), large fries and peas ( especially when one of our party asked for no peas it would have been good to have been offered salad). The lemon sole gougons were delicious but one again a wee bit of coleslaw or salad would have made it into an attractive meal.

I don't like reviewing hidden gems as usually like to keep it to myself so its doesn't get too popular ! However have to share the fact that having been for a large family lunch here today , the food and the staff were beyond outstanding. Its undergone a recent refurb and is comparable to any upmarket gastropub you might fiind in Norfolk or Cornwall. The staff couldn't do enough and the quality of the food was outstanding and definitely homemade and not reheated microwave nonsense. We also ate from the Carvery which was again high quality properly cooked food, overall we will definitely be back and cant fault the place , its also exceptionally reasonable in its pricing.

We have just returned from a lunch time meal which was truly awful. Food was overcooked and probably microwaved reheated. Portion control was way out (£7 for tennis ball sized lasagne and 5 salad leaves, not to mention over cooked quiche that was like scrambled eggs in a stale pastry). Tables hadn’t been cleared and there were flies everywhere even though it wasn’t that busy. The waiting staff finally cleared the table next to us for the flies to then take an interest in us. Spent the whole time batting them away from my food whilst debating whether to finish the awful food, needless to say we didn’t and left after only 20 minutes never to return!

I went on Thursday evening on a "date night" with my partner, firstly got to say the revamp is great a fresh new look is what the place need!! It was nice to see it busy again, couple of pointers I would like to make 1. The smoking area, as a non smoker I didn't like the fact that the doors from the smoking area were left open all I could smell whilst eating my meal was smoke, in your defence it was a hot day but still not a pleasant experience whilst eating. 2. No one came to ask if the food was ok I have to get up find some to send my steak back as it was over cooked, it took sometime for my second meal to arrive by the time it had my partner had finished hers but to be honest my second steak was cooked to perfection and was amazing!!! A couple on the table near us complained about there meal and was offered a free Desert, why wasn't I gutted about that, all in all it was a nice meal, we will have another meal and see how that goes, I would say to people definitely give it a go as I think my experience was just teething problems!!!

Oh dear. It's been a long time since I've tasted food this bad. Really friendly bar person - think perhaps the landlady - but chaotic service, the food took ages and the food was terrible and really expensive. Bad quality and very obviously the absence of a chef or good cook in the kitchen. Scruffy and low rent surroundings. Also my son put his hand in dog poo on the way out in the 'kids' playground' so that summed it up! Lastly, NEEDS A NAME CHANGE. Only realised what it was called as we were driving off. As far as I know, 'Kaffir' only has one meaning and no establishment should be called that in this day and age. All in all, a horrid visit.

I used to be a regular here till I moved away in May but friends of ours who gig have recently had a December date cancelled at the Kaffir because it has apparently closed down. Not really surprised as clientele had dropped off significantly when I last went which is a shame because it has a good sized restaurant at the back and a big garden with play equipment, but the bar seating area needs a good professional redesign and not painting sloppily in cheap white emulsion or Man United colours like last time. It would have also helped if the beer towels weren't on the pump of my preferred lager nearly every time i went and food service had been a bit more consistent. I advise they get some real ales in if it reopens and ditch the big telly. Food was always reasonably priced and nicely cooked when we used to go weekly but one night we paid and waited an hour and no food came. When we asked where it was, we were told the chef had left and the kitchen was closed but they pulled out all the stops and an off duty chef made sure we had a good meal, albeit very late.

Unfortunately this is no longer the case. Today's menu is pretty standard and unadventurous. To add to that it's seems to be cheap ingredients that aid fast service. The sausages were cheap with powered mash and the sweets were packaged with powered custard. On the positive side the service was good and the portion size was reasonable. Went recently in a party of eight. The food was reasonable although slow to be served. Six of us were waiting with food until the last two were served. The sweets in the display cabinet are just like half portions at full prices so we didn't have any. Best value is probably the bar food menu.

Visiting with family, we had hoped for a decent, reasonably priced carvery in a small countryside pub. What we got was far from this. The problems we experienced were:1. The server on the till demanded payment upfront for the carvery, as soon as we walked in the door. This is the worst welcome I've known, and it's offensive to demand payment before being shown to our table (although we weren't shown to our table and had to guess which was ours). It was £10 for an adult. I have no issue with the cost directly, but in light of problem no 2, I do...2. The carver demanded a ticket before serving (which while fair enough in theory only added to the sense that they expected us to do a runner at a moments notice). The food was below acceptable standard. Overcooked meats; overcooked, tasteless, mushy vegetables; watery gravy and, I strongly suspect, instant mashed potato were the fare presented to us. It was a struggle to even get through the meal. One person in our party is a vegetarian and we asked what the option was. Mushroom stroganoff was the option, but it was inedible and not really a main for Sunday lunch, more like whatever was hanging around. No way was that worth the money. 3. Bar service was shoddy. The barman didn't know anything about the wines (I asked for a bottle rather than from the tap) and in the end I plumped for one that looked and TASTED like it cost £2 from a booze cruise. The price tag of £14 left me speechless. I don't mind paying more than that for a bottle of wine, but that wasn't worth half the price. 4. The "New" decor looks cheap and, frankly, as if nothing more than a paintbrush has seen the inside of that restaurant during it's refurb. The new management is evidently intending to fleece customers for all they can, without providing even an acceptable level of food, drink or service. Clearly treating your customers with contempt is their business model. I'm no psychic but I suspect that this business will be changing hands AGAIN in the near future. They call themselves the "best local carvery". I'd disagree, and advise you to go to the Toby Carvery at the Foxhunter. That was WAY more enjoyable than this place. I live in Manchester, and can get an EXCELLENT Sunday lunch for literally £2 more in the city centre. This place is therefore unacceptable.

Having eaten in the restaurant here a few months ago I booked a table to eat at this local pub/restaurant for a Tuesday evening at the end of January but was surprised to arrive to find the restaurant closed and the food being served in the bar. This wasn't a problem. The menu wasn't the biggest but there was an offer of 2 main courses and a bottle of wine for £20. My friend and I chose from the main menu and the slow roast belly of pork and the sirloin steak were both delicious. It was a shame that all night there was only us and another couple in the whole place plus the bar man and chef! Over the last few years this place has changed hands a few times but I would recommend that people go back and give it another try, it is a great local pub/restaurant and I am sure I will go again.Worth noting is that there is a large garden outside with childrens swings as well as a covered area for those who need to smoke.

Came here with my dad and brother to try the Yorkshire wraps. We had one of each meat. They were a great price and the portion was spot on. Flavour was really nice, especially after a long walk around
