The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

The food was delicious, good value for money and the service was excellent. We ate in the garden room which has a delightful ambience.

The waffles and ice cream were very very good and the lady who was serving our table had a constant smile on her face - she also ran out of the shop to give us back the debit card we dropped. Thank you!!

Ok, but I’d go Anywhere else within Ashbourne in the future. Reheated and what appeared to be low quality food. Service confusing and they got my drinks order wrong. I’m all for promoting great dining experiences, but sadly this was not one.

Chill pub, nice beers, good beer garden

Called in for lunch & what a great choice, the food was great & the hospitality was excellent, we will be visiting again soon.

Popped in yesterday for a few bits and pieces. Was served on the till by a very lovely young lady. Made my experience very pleasant. She was chatty, cheerful, friendly and super helpful. Thank you for being so lovely!

It was nice and chips were insanely hot but would recommend.Soup was great you could choose white or brown bread. Good drink selection also the jacket potatoes looked humongous. Lots of vegan vegetarian and gluten free options

Well that was disapointing we are out on our boat and decided to moor near the The New Inn, we went in yesterday for a drink which was lovely the Bar Staff were great, while there we booked a table for Sunday lunch today 4/5/25 by the window overlooking the lock, we have just been in for our Sunday Lunch and the table we booked had been given by some other people, when we pointed this out to the girl at the bar she rudely told us its been taken you will have to sit around the back, we found another table went to order drinks and ordered a glass of Malbec only to be told we haven't got any, So we left without having our Sunday Lunch, we know this pub is on the Market so can only assume they have no interest and are running it into the ground, we did go there last year and had a lovely meal but today was a complete disapointment as is the attitude of the staff today.

We often visit the Wig for a drink, but we went out as a family and had the Sunday roast, They accommodated food for every and there was plenty of it. Chef provided plenty of gravy and the food was very tasty, defiantly worth a visit.

Drove here from Buxton. Stopped and had Breakfast it was great place, it was having some work done. Still it was lovely all the same.

Very sadly it seems the latest bad reviews are true. It's like the owners don't care or employ people who do not get training. Three things missing....service with a smile....or even a nod.....food like it used to be...great breakfasts and chip butties again....cleanliness that does not resemble the slums of London from 1600s....close it down, sell up....you can't run a cafe....sorry, but I am only being truthful. And please get reassessment on food standards....should be 0....

Visited with friends for an evening meal. I hadn't been here for an evening meal for some time. Unfortunately the restaurant doesn't have an online menu so I wasn't sure what food to expect but wasn't disappointed. We had great service and a chose between us pizza, chicken burger and mac and cheese. All were delicious and we would return again.

Went just for a drink on Saturday evening. It has been refurbished and it is really nice . Staff friendly and seats usually available. Nice glass of Pinot !
