We tried this cafe for a quick snack as it was very close to our accommodation. My wife's sausage in a bread roll was served cold and my Panini was OK but with far too much Pesto and not enough of the other ingredients. The Iced Lime Tea was very good. The service was absolutely bonkers. On ordering the Iced Tea one of the staff left the premises and returned with bags of ice. Although our order had been written down they had to write it down again to work out our bill. Two young students at an adjacent table were handed the pad and pen to write down their own orders. An older gentleman who initially appeared to be a customer suddenly became a member of staff. He got quite annoyed because he couldnt find a pen to write down an order - the same pen another member of staff had given to the students. He then cleared a table and dropped all the cutlery. It was all rather hilarious - but not actually good value. We didnt return. (PS Cafe Impromptu is wonderful)

Unfortunately we really would not recommend this place. Only 5 of us but took over 45 mins to get our coffees and breakfasts. No one really seemed to know what they were doing. Everyone complaining who came in. Shame as such a nice little cafe and nice location. Food was not good when it did arrive.

Nice cafe but service was very poor, only go if you have a lot of time to waste, needing a better competent staff. Having said this food was good when it arrived 50mins is to long to wait foe bacon and eggs.

Oh dear I think they might have been having a bad Sunday. To be fair we were warned it could be a long wait. People were definitely complaining, a number of bikers seemed annoyed and flabbergasted by the service, some people left without having anything. We ordered coffee, bacon and sausage on white rolls which the menu said came with salad and crisps (I know slightly odd but it was nearly lunchtime so seemed ok). They had issues with credit card machine and I felt a bit bad as a queue formed and a chef was taken away from the kitchen to sort it out. There seemed to be no process or efficiency (like taking the dirty plates in with you from an empty table after taking an order out). Coffee took ages but at least did come before the breakfast. Breakfast wasn’t a roll, just very cheap bread with the sausage and salad missing. We did point out the missing sausage, and two sausages promptly appeared. We ate quickly and left with our coffee still in hand as our one hour parking ticket expired. On the plus side what a gorgeous interesting square to sit in, lovely market town after a fabulous camping trip near the Manifold Inn in Hulme End.

Also ordered 2 cheese and chutney baps, didn’t get baps at all got sandwiches on nasty cheap white bread it was the worst sandwich I’ve ever had. Don’t think the staff understood what I was saying. We stumbled across the Flower Cafe - and what a find! Two of the four of us are dairy intolerant, and it was such a pleasure to find food that was guaranteed dairy free but not necessarily vegan. Being able to choose dairy free options for any dish we wanted was such a treat, and I was delighted to find that the grill was cleaned down after every meat or dairy item to ensure no cross contamination. A brilliant example that is followed by far too few restaurants and cafes. The Flower Cafe is well worth a visit regardless of any dietary preferences or needs, with a friendly welcome and helpful staff. Sadly we don't live close by, otherwise I'd be a firm regular.

Lots of veggie and vegan options, and gluten free can be catered for too according to the menu. Pay and display parking outside, which seems to be very busy, however we found the coop carpark always has space and is a 3 minute walk. Lots of choice of coffees, and witnessed staff being happy to fill people's own mugs which is great. I had the veggie oatcakes breakfast ( a must try for visitors to the area, even if just once for the experience!) And husband had the sausage and bacon bap with egg. All hot, and plentiful. Reasonably priced.

We visited Ashbourne while on holiday in Buxton. This cafe is by far the best we visited while on holiday for a week. Coffee spot on. Butter flapjack superb. The best example of Bakewell tart anywhere (both raspberry and apricot). Home made. Reasonable prices. Good service. After an absolutely dire experience visiting Chatsworth House after 56 years (stripped bare in the house) and ok experiences elsewhere including in Bakewell … this cafe was a gem! I am Gluten free and vegan, which makes eating out a bit tricky however I had Googled cafes in Ashbourne before we arrived and found The Flower Cafe was the most recommended. It did not disappoint, even though it was busy (which is always a great sign) the staff were friendly, the food was tasty, cooked well and quickly. We had a mixture of breakfasts, beans on toast, eggs on toast, then an amazing chickpea curry, gf vegan toasted sandwich and a range of incredible cakes to suit everyone! They had soya and oat milk, normal milkshakes and dairy free milkshakes, most items can be make gf or ve. They were so accommodating. I would highly recommend this place for everyone, but as it was so inclusive I feel that they are really catering for all dietary requirements. When we come back this way, we will definitely be back.

Menu was appaling, couln't get a cooked breakfast, even though they sell all the components seperately, Had to order a bap with stuff in it, but it was yuck. Bap was overly processed white floury pap, fried egg was murdered and inedible, and the sausage was tasteless and had tough skin. Very unpleasant. Bacon was nice, but that's just nowhere near enough to save this car crash of a visit. Menu further restricted after midday, outdoor seating was uncomfortable, and right near the main road which carried a continual stream of concrete trucks and aggregate lorries. Never again.

Having grown up in Ashbourne (but moving away in my late teens) I always knew this as the flower shop. In the last three months I have visited the area I have gone here each time - with and without children. The customer service is outstanding (without being needy), they catered to everything we wanted, laughed at my side splitting jokes (enthusiastically and well acted) and were brilliant with my array of tedious food intolerances. The menu is fresh and different, extremely tasty well balanced flavours. The prices are reasonable and you get for what you pay for. I have taken my mother out and they were happy to accommodate her idiosyncratic break down of a simple coffee order, had breakfast with my friend and there was no judgement as we worked our way through enough food for a rugby team, complete with belches and light swearing, with no judgement and - more recently - today when we took my youngest out for breakfast, she is a fan of a cup of tea so they provided us with a mini tea set so she could join is in a dainty fashion... the fact she lurched around bleating incompressible nonsense and splashing her drink everything like Orsen Wells was just smiled upon by their lovely team of staff.

Came here one Sunday afternoon late July 2019. We had to sit outside because no room inside. The tables were full of pots and some were stacked up, obviously from people taking them off their tables and putting them on another to clear theirs. We had to do the same and took the pots left on our table inside. After waiting a while for someone to come out to clear the other pots and hopefully wipe the table, waited and waited for such an age I ended up wiping it with a wet one out of my handbag. We ordered a bacon sandwich, a mozzarella, pesto and tomato panini, and breakfast with scrambled egg, crumpet and smoked salmon. It took a while to come and with the seating outside not very comfortable, especially as table and chairs are resting on a cobbled pavement, it just wasn't too enjoyable. For saying not many people about and it being a windy and coolish day, it blew serviettes etc., everywhere, I think they could have cleared the tables while we sat and ate our meals. Maybe this added to it not being enjoyable with all the pots surrounding us whilst eating. Perhaps if we came another time it would be different, but, even so I'm not too impressed.

This was our first experience of this café on a cold and wet Sunday afternoon and it was a real treat to find that it was open and advertised that it was dog friendly on the door, which is a good start for us. The service was informal but good and there was a reasonable variety of cakes, muffins, slices, brownies etc. so that we were all satisfied. There is a wide selection of coffees and teas to choose from and the café did take out drinks if that was wanted. The meals looked appetising and the cost was very reasonable. As a previous review said there is a bowl of clean water (other cafes owners take note) and some free doggy treats - so everything one could ask for in this pretty Derbyshire town.

We recently visited Ashbourne and visited Flowers Café for lunch as we'd read that it was dog friendly. I had the bacon and brie quiche and can honestly say it's absolutely the best and tastiest quiche I have ever had; no sloppy egginess going on and just so full of flavour, it was also a really decent sized piece. Yum. My OH had the chickpea and spinach curry and said it was incredibly tasty. The staff were really friendly and both the guy who took our order and the chap who brought our food out invited us to give our dog one of the (free!) treats out of the jar and there was also a big bowl of water available (for the dog, not us!!).

We went to the flower cafe 13th Jan having been before a few months earlier. There seemed to be a good choice on the menu and some home made specials as well. The initial impression of the cafe was it was a bit messy, we sat at a table that hasn't been cleared from previous diners. The table was cleared relatively quickly but not wiped leaving a lot of crumbs which I brushed off myself. We then chose our food, 1 sandwich and 2 "homemade" country vegetable soups. It probably took 20_25 minutes for the food to arrive which given what we'd ordered seemed an overly long time and clearly as we could see from other orders the soup was being heated in a microwave. The sandwich was ok the soup however was not, totally tasteless which is probably a result of how watered down it was, it actually started to separate. At £5.95 I expected something better, a tin of vegetable soup from the local Aldi would have surpassed what we were served. I really try and support independent local businesses but they also have to put the effort in to be supported. Very poor experience and food,I'll spend my money elsewhere in future.

Wow what a find ....on a three day break really struggling to find vegan food which isn’t hummus ! Found the flower cafe perfect....loads of choice I had vegan cheese salad baguette and coconut coffee sooooo nice and even offered vegan mayo and chillie sauce ,the owner was in and was very helpful and informative about vegan food on the menu . There was so much choice I’m going for the chick pea coconut curry and home made vegan cake .. staff lovely and patient as I changed my order 3 times .my friend is veggie and there was also a lot of choice to keep my fussy friend happy . This place is absolutely gem!

Having recently been diagnosed as gluten intolerant I didn’t expect to find a cafe that had such a great choice of allergy free foods. The cafe has a huge offer of food including gluten free and a long list of coffee to. Nothing was to much trouble. Helpful, smiley team. Really enjoyed our visit. Will definitely be returning soon.

Called in for a light lunch en-route to the Peak District. We both had soup and coffee and we were both very pleased. The soup is clearly home made and was absolutely delicious. Highly reccommended.

Often visitors yo Ashbourne for breakfast but our normal venue was closed so we thought we we would give the flower cafe a try thus was a mistake. We decided to have the large breakfast which should been two of everything. Although I requested no tomato or beans I was not offered anything in there place or a reduction in the price. When the breakfasts finally arrived my wife's was nearly warm. I only had one has brown, not two. Thus in fact was a blessing as the has brown fell to pieces when touched. The bacon was the best thing on the best thing on the plate, if it had been cooked rather than just warmed. Finally neither of us received the toast. When we left I mentioned this to the person behind the counter she just says sorry and offered a refund for the toast. Once tried never tried again. Back to the usual venue for us.

Ive been here many times before but Tuesday was the first time my parents came with me . The cafe was a little quite when we got there which I was pleased at so that we were able to get sat down comfortably and take our time . such a nice change to order food and have a choice of dishes without any fuss about two of us GF & DF . We all had such an enjoyable time with nice food . Hope we will all be going back soon .

We used this cafe as a meeting point with my parents before our trip to Peak District as it had good reviews. It is dog friendly and the food was reasonably priced. It is small but that adds to the experience. There’s a car park next to it that I think cost around £2.20 for 2 hours.

Arranged to meet up with family here yesterday. We picked it as we were going to Dovedale and because it was dog friendly. Friendly staff. Good menu. Liked the fact the full English breakfast came in different sizes depending on appetite size. Ranges from medium to Legend. Well worth a visit

Lovely little place and always busy. Love their sandwiches made fresh to order. I can go in with my dog as well. Nothing I can fault.

We popped in with our dog for breakfast. A full English comes in 3 sizes. The biggest is mammoth. All cooked to order and fresh ingredients. The rest of the menu for lunches looked very appealing. Very nice cafe.

We live locally yet do not often visit the wealth of cafes on our doorstep. The Flower cafe has new owners and an updated menu. The cakes are homemade by owner Sue. Great portion sizes, extensive range of the usual and unique cake recipes.

The food was dreadful and expensive. Can’t say it any plainer. Schnitzel was burnt and poorly presented. Pasted was soggy. The very worst was the waffles which had been microwaved and were solid! Just the two us for a birthday meal with one drink each and it cost £91!
