Great pub with exceptionallly kept beer, lovely staff and nice atmosphere. Proper country pub with a menu that looked quite exciting.

Very warm welcome at The Royal Oak. Visited Saturday night, steak was excellent, some of our party are vegetarian and so by special arrangement on ' steak night' they had salmon which was also excellent. I wish we lived closer. From ..cask ale pub, food pub, live music pub, they do it all so well. Live band on the night we went were great. Definitely return :)

Had a really lovely time at the Craft and Cocktails evening. It was well organised, with a great choice of cocktails. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday night. Also ate in the pub - a good offer on steak and wine.

Couldn't fault a thing about this pub. The staff are so friendly. The Sunday dinner was the best I've ever had in a pub. A very good price for such delicious food. I was so full I had no room for a pudding which was disappointing 🫣🤣. Delicious beer too

Sunday lunch with a 2 year old child in tow and can honestly say not only was the food absolutely perfect and full of flavour but also the staff were so friendly and accommodating.. Engaged with not only us adults but also my niece and the chef did a a couple of sausages for her instead of sunday roadt meats which was such a nice gesture.. Would so highly recommend and we will be returning to try other offerings on the main and lunch nenus in future

Quite simply the best roast dinner I've had and this is now the standard setter for all other pub Sunday lunches. I had the 3 meat roast, and the plate arrived with generous proportions as the photo shows. All meats were individually cooked perfectly, if I wasn't full at the end I would have been happy to have another plate! All the staff were really friendly and attentive and served with a smile and as busy as it was, the time waiting for dinner was perfectly satisfactory. All the rest of my family really enjoyed their respective dinners. Lovely Leicestershire beer by Everard's on draft too, so couldn't resist a pint of tiger. Highly recommend a visit

It's a typical pub, with a skittle ally that serves pub food. They do a mean vegetarian lasagne which you can request if you are vegetarian.

Been using this pub for about a year now, after moving to the village 2 years ago. The owner Faye is just brilliant, always welcoming and has turned this place around in such a short time. Some great live band nights, and quiz once a month. But like all successful businesses, it wouldn't be anything without good staff, and I think Faye has the best staff around. The most fantastic bunch behind the bar, who don't take long to get to know you, and what you drink. In truth this place has been a lifeline for me. More than just a pub, and I don't think they realise how important to some that is. And that's down to the warm, friendly welcoming atmosphere you receive, whether it's you're first visit or you're hundredth.

Food was good value large baguette & lovely chips. Nice coffee. It would be better if you could have a pot of tea rather than the cups of tea we had.

Steak night was lovely, rib eye was cooked beautifully, Stilton sauce was really creamy and served with a lovely mound of salad and chips. A really nice pub, very friendly, great food and great service.

Popped in for a late afternoon drink after a walk in the area and ended up staying for dinner. We both chose pork tenderloin in blue cheese and leek sauce, which came with roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli and garlic bread. It was perfectly cooked and portions were good. Had no intention of having dessert but after perusing the menu fancied sharing a portion of the raspberry and curly-wurly traybake with ice cream - which was so delicious we wished we'd ordered two! The staff were really friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was good for late afternoon/early evening. We'll definitely be dropping in again in the not too distant future.

I went to a Skittles party. I found everything to be all right. I found nothing about the venue impressive (apart from having a Skittles ally), but nothing put me off enjoying the evening either. We had a reasonably typical pub lasagna and garlic bread. Not too good, not too bad.

Lovely Italian food by Massimo. We had the sea bass and the sirloin steak in mushroom sauce. Really tasty dishes served with veg and some crispy new potatoes. Top quality food for a reasonable price. Definitely want to go back and try some other items on the menu.

Our theatre group recently used the skittle alley for our monthly social evening. We had great fun playing in teams and enjoying a hot buffet. The staff were great at organising the evening for us. We will be back again!

Wasn't here for long - post work drink at the end of term - but the staff were friendly and gave recommendations on drinks, of which there was a good selection. The inside was clean and there was also a lovely outdoor area to sit in. Didn't have food here but I have heard from others that the food is good. Well worth a visit.

Went to a lovely fused glass workshop with cream tea. Location & experience was excellent. Will be back.

We went for the first time and had Sunday lunch, I can't fault the service received and the food was nice overall. I had the beef and it seemed dry, my daughter had gammon which was nice. It's one of those that you would think, yes, I will go again but then we won't be going anytime soon because of the price. We paid £40 for 1 adult and 1 child carvery, 2 drinks and some ice cream for my daughter. I cant remember the last time it's cost the 2 of us anywhere close to this for Sunday lunch. The Sunday dinner is also quite basic in its contents. Too add cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, stuffing and a few other extras that you associate with Sunday lunch, it's a whopping £3.50 each per side added. So £14 for a basic Sunday lunch, but if you like stuffing etc you will soon find yourself with a Sunday dinner costing around £25 for 1 person. You can share the side by the looks of the portion, but thats only if your in a larger group, you can't share if your the only one wanting that extra - this is something that should be looked at by the owners. So a tough one, really nice but price will hold us back from going again.

We have been a few times before. This time, just popped in for cocktails as they have a deal on at the moment and the cocktails here are rather good. Previously, we visited for food and that was good too. Will be coming back, especially in the nice weather as they have a beer garden. Well done.

A good welcome and a selection of unfamiliar ales is always a great start to any pub visit in my book. Confirmation that we could have a table for dinner completed the deal. After tasting the Sunshine and Tiger Copper Ales, we both settled on the Tiger Copper Ale; hoppy, with a subtle bitterness it's a good session beer. We sat at one of the high tables at the back of the lounge bar. A mellow soundtrack overlaid with the sound of local's voices created a busy, but not loud atmosphere. This pub is very dog friendly and there were several hounds in evidence, but all were well behaved, including their owners. We ordered drinks and they were brought to our table. We then ordered dinner, two burgers with grilled halloumi cheese to share as a starter. The cheese arrived promptly, served with a good helping of chilli dip and dressed green leaves, it saved us from starvation and set the scene nicely for the main course. Burgers can sound so good and then be a real disappointment, but these burgers were excellent. Not tough or overcooked with a good slab of melted cheese, fat slices of tomato, leaves and cooked onions or or an onion chutney (?) Served with skin on chips and a good dollop of coleslaw our dinners were perfect. Service was professional and friendly with checks to see if we needed anything else. The environment was clean and shiny and the facilities were well cared for. Coming into the pub from the carpark at the rear includes a short flight of steps, but entering from the main road has one or two steps to get you into the lounge bar. A pub like this as a local would prove to be irresistible and would definitely lead to an expanding waistline. We will certainly visit again.

Always a great welcome and good food

Too many dogs!! I know this is a country pub and like many country pubs they welcome dogs. Surely there should be an area for dogs or a limit on how many are allowed in at one time. We arrived to eat and there were dogs everywhere. Totally put me off as the staff were touching the dogs then going behind the bar and into the kitchen to bring food out. I won’t be rushing back for this reason!

The pub itself has a wonderful atmosphere and it was a delightful place to spend a sunny afternoon. The food is also really nice and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. My daughter and myself arrived today, not realising the pub wasn't actually open, searching for coffees. We were kindly invited in and enjoyed our drinks. Great service ! We went for a drink at the beginning of March. I had not been before we had a drink and sat in a quiet corner of the pub. We decided to have a bite to eat and ordered 2 pizzas, which we thoroughly liked. The staff were friendly and helpful, we shall definitely be visiting again.

First time back for a few months as now under new management. Much busier and more atmosphere now, more beer selection and staff much more friendly and welcoming. A good, varied and reasonably priced menu too although we didn't eat when we visited.

Myself and 4 friends meet here about 3 times a year for a reunion get-together meal. Really nice homely pub atmosphere, great and friendly staff giving really good service. Apparently, now under new ownership, the menu is now limited by comparison to the past, but it is ok giving variety. The food is very nice but not as good as we have experienced here before. Our only negative is that the amount of food on the plate is not much for what it costs, and we all agreed it did not feel like value for money. We will try it again before we look elsewhere because everything else was great.👍

Booked a meal for my sisters birthday.. very friendly staff..food and atmosphere very nice and would recommend.

The salt and pepper pots hadn't been checked as 2 pots were empty and dirty. The prices on the menu didnt correspond with what they were charging and when I ordered a drink at the table, it didnt arrive and I had to go up to the bar and remind them though this was then excluded from the bill. The food was fairly average. Wouldn't bother again.

I visited today 21/08/21. The pub is very pleasant and the staff were efficient and friendly. My visit was marred by the loud and intrusive music that was being played (this may have been for the benefit of the staff but it just irritated me). I'm planning to lead a group of walkers and I intend to call at the pub. The menu looks OK but the music is a big deterrent to us calling - may go elsewhere instead. Please take this as constructive criticism and perhaps learn from my comments. Your Wednesday lunch trade could otherwise suffer Best wishes Robert Beeech
