It's just reopened and the food is great and the portions are very filling

Went recently and had a brilliant meal - homemade chicken pie was delicious! Took done friends who eat out a lot and they said it was one if the best pub meals they’ve had in years can highly recommend.

Went for a night out with friends and really enjoyed our meals. Service was really good, and nicely paced between courses. Portion sizes are very generous! Really good value for money. Very nice coffee too. Looks like the place has been recently repainted and was looking very smart. Under new ownership and from our experience, they’re doing really well. Didn’t make a 5 star review as really disappointed that they don’t really have a very good drink selection for non alcoholic options (other than basic soft drinks) - no mocktails, no alcohol free Prosecco etc.. They did offer to make any of their cocktails alcohol free but turned out they couldn’t so bar staff made an apple juice/lime mix. Not the greatest. Would definitely recommend adding 3-4 mocktail options to your drinks menu. Not hard to do and would make a big difference. Would certainly go back. FYI - we were seated in the upstairs room. It was incredibly noisy as we had a large (very loud) group behind us and very little space between tables. Felt very cramped and became almost impossible to hear ourselves talk. Much better downstairs in the main restaurant so will be sure to book here in the future.

Amazing Friday night meal with family! We enjoyed 3 courses of delicious food with friendly service. Our food was served in good time, staff were attentive and the atmosphere was great. We enjoyed the pork croquettes, cheese soufflé and Camembert to start, pork, beef, hake and the pie of the day for mains and the special dessert, all of which went down a treat! This place has been recently taken over and the experience is even better than before. Highly recommend!

This pub restaurant had only recently opened when we went, and is a sister to the unique and wonderful Plough at Normanton. The menu is the same as there but the pub is far smaller being quite cosy. The ambience is very much of a traditional English pub with beams and the like with excellent decor throughout. The service was provided by a couple of young people who did an utterly sterling job and well deserve praise. The food was superb with our chateaubriand being as good as any steak we have eaten anywhere. The chef knows well how to prepare steak to perfection. Thank you!

Had Chicken supreme as a Sunday Lunch. Chicken overdone, supreme sauce was separate and luke warm, roasties disappointing, yorky pud burnt, only carrots and cabbage, tasteless swamped in thin gravy. Staff lovely tho. Not many people dining, quiet. Nice place.

Visited Friday night. Late booking. There was obviously some kind of issue regarding the menu, it had been scaled down as to what was online, and freshly printed out. We waited over an hour from ordering. My fish and chips were ok, but the chips weren’t triple cooked. My partners burger was burnt. Wouldn’t rush back.

Had a family meal for 21 people in the garden room then drinks in the garden ,lovely food staff looked after us very well Thank you ,highly recommended

My first time at the windmill as new to the area and it was recommended by a few people Well it’s a lovely pub and everything was perfect, food was amazing, lovely staff and nice atmosphere, definitely recommend the Sunday roast and I will definitely go there again, I was really impressed 😊

Took my little one and wife to celebrate her birthday with a hopeful lovely Sunday roast after some fruit picking round the corner. Pub is lovely in design and pleasant to sit in and relax but unfortunately for our experience that's where the pleasantries started to fizzle out. Orders were taken quickly which we were pleased with however starters took roughly 40 minutes to appear and a further 40 minutes to receive the main courses, people had entered after us, ordered and exited before we'd even managed to get round to our main course. Pub was quiet at this point in time which caught us even more by surprise. We'd both ordered the sunday roasts and were chomping at the bit to get stuck into them but unfortuantely flavour was lacking, which for the price, really took us by surprise. The slow service on top of the what tasted like a watered down roast (gravy was very runny and watery) meant we didn't enjoy our experience. With some concentration on table service, clear communication if things are running behind and some tweaks to the food this has potential but unfortuantely we had a poor experience. The waitress did apologise for the experience but not sure the slow kitchen service was entirely her fault.

Beautiful pub, in this lovely village, serving a delicious menu, prices comparable with most pub menus. Food is hot and well presented. Plenty of choice for various palette and food allergies

I have eaten here many times. The menu needs to be revised, £8 for a small slice of toast with a small portion of crab meat is to expensive.

Came here today for family lunch. Matthew and Aimee were very friendly and polite. We are given options where to sit and offered help with choosing from food and drink options available. Would recommend!

Me and my partner came here for a Sunday lunch, set in a nice village but parking wasnt great, very limited space on the road. We walked in to clearly see they were short staffed, the small bar was full of dirty glasses and was met by a lukewarm reception from the manager behind the bar. The pub itself was quaint but very dark and gloomy. It has a lovely multi level garden where we decided to have our drinks and food, cocktail was missing a key ingredient and the food was average which didnt justify the price. Cleanliness was not up to standard, womens toilets had no lock on the door. Our waiter was a young fair haired guy with glasses who was very friendly and had great customer service. With a few tweaks this place could be the kind of high standard country pub it should be, overall not sure we would go again but we are grateful for the positive aspects. Thank you

I recently went to The Windmill for dinner with two friends. The food, wine and service were all excellent. There was a great menu choice; between us we had the Chef’s Home-made Pie of the Day, Devonshire Crab Linguine and Pan-Fried Chicken Supreme. All of which were delicious and we cleared our plates. The desserts were very good too. The atmosphere and service was friendly and relaxed. All making for a lovely night out. Will definitely be back soon!

It's been a while since we visited the Windmill but so glad we went today. We had two different starters, two different mains and we shared a sweet. Food, wine and service were all excellent. Friendly and relaxed but professional too. We'll definitely be back sooner this time! Thank you to all for a lovely lunch.

Went here for a family lunch, eating out can be difficult for me as I have Crohn's Disease and am gluten intolerant but they had a good selection for me to choose from, Hannah and Alyssa served us and were very friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful steak dish with sauce, best meal I've had for years! Will definitely be going back :)

Food nice and hot . Very quiet as we were the only ones in at the time.... furniture very dated . Otherwise I wood certainly go back for food

Went here for a lunch time meal with my grandmother, she is gluten free and there were plenty of options for her on the main menu and on the dessert menu. We both decided to try the flat iron steak which was cooked beautifully with great flavours ! After this we decided to have a brownie to share which was absolutely fantastic. Great service and wonderful venue for a meal will definitely be coming back.

This may just be our new favourite and I don't mind the 25min drive to get there! All the meals stood out and were of an excellent standard, been once only, and will be back to try more of the menu. Excellent!

Popped in for a lunchtime sandwich, very warm welcome, lovely food (steak sandwiches chunky chips and side salad), good selection of drinks. Dog friendly, thoroughly recommended.

Oh dear. We've been coming here for ages, but not been for about 10 months. When we walked in the floor was sticky and the menu was disappointing, not the variability with what we were used to. We actually wanted to leave, but thought we'd carry on. Menu was boring. Anyway we did order, but I felt it was microwaved as even the fish was really hot and the skin soggy. What I got was a plate of tough trout and loads of greasy potatoes, no crispy kale. The tables were not placed properly, so had to move the table to get in to sit down. I went to spend a penny and the toilet next to me was constantly flushing and the toilet rolls were in a basket behind me. The paint work was in need of a work over. The bar was full of unwashed glasses when we went to pay, but the two girls serving were lovely. I really don't think that it's going to be a visit for a long time...... I was so so disappointed.

Smart classy food led pub. In a nice village and especially cozy location. Nice easy on line booking system, draft beers were from the HUK list with their 2 best missing (Cruz and Brixton) shame. Nice pleasant service, only small ish gripe was limited vegan options, but there were some choices tbf (salad or burger) so am grateful for those, pudding choice was sorbet, which is the vgn option in 95% of places but hey. It's a nice place and to be fair would return when next in area especially if given more choice

The food is always good and the staff are always really friendly. It's also nice that you can bring your dog and also sit outside with the log burner in colder months.

Great location, food was disappointing unfortunately, portions were very small on the steaks especially considering the price. I'm happy to pay £25-£35 for a steak but this was really not a filling meal. Others in our group had a burger and other dishes that looked far better and they were very pleased, if I'm being honest the childs fish dish was better than my steak.

Really lovely pub in a small village and set next to a stream. Visited recently for a working lunch. We had the fish and chips along with the burger and a pint. Staff were really accommodating and the place feels very relaxed. This is an ideal location for a circular walk following or followed by an excellent meal.

Went for Sunday lunch, food arrived luke warm with main accompaniments missing, (which should of been served at the time)had to wait for veg(cold) and cauliflower cheese (cauliflower which needed cooking longer as it was very raw with no sauce)waiting staff very inexperienced, had to ask twice for condiments and gave out wrong information regarding the desserts.said waitress put her head in her hands just before she got to the kitchen, which we saw, not professional.We had mentioned about our disappointment to the waitress when she asked but had no response , said the manager would sort but manager uninterested.

Dined at the Windmill last night. Lovely atmosphere and great service. Chose fish and chip supper. Large plates so ideal for the larger appetite. Fish very fresh and well cooked. Good prices and warm, welcome staff. Couldn't wish for a nicer village pub/ diners.

Had a family/friends birthday here, with a booked function room, service and food was outstanding, Inside setting is lovely and cosy, with an indoor log burner come winter and outdoor fire pit. Brilliant traditional country pub. Will definitely return for food and drinks.

A beautiful summer experience in the garden with a delicious lunch. We saw someone else's lunch arrive and just had to try it: the cauliflower taccos! I've never been disappointed here. Wish it was nearer so I could go more often 😊

The food was great with a good selection of ales.

I ordered the hot roast ciabatta with sides for lunch. It was extremely tasty the beef being tender and cooked as described. Being the curious type I made discreet glances at other diners food. Everything looked fresh and well presented. The people next to me told me they had enjoyed their meals I will dine at The Windmill again when I am in the area. The service was efficient and value fair for the quality.

As a Coeliac it is so nice to have a good selection of the menu that is adaptable, staff that understand and gluten free beer 😊

Lived in the area for a long time and only came across The Windmill Inn a week ago. Really nice place, so much better than the chain pubs now all over the place. Warm environment, friendly staff and very nice food. Had a three-course meal and couldn’t fault it. Everything seemed home-made and was very tasty. Only cheeky mention would be a request to add two scoops of ice cream instead of one to the double chocolate cookie desert as gets a bit dry when the single scoop runs out. Great place, thoroughly recommend eating here.

Expensive good quality food in small portions. Tables uncomfortably close for proper social distancing makes conversation difficult.

The service is always friendly and the food is second to none. Great value and even better taste. I had ordered from the party menu along with some friends of mine and really there was too much to eat. I will definitely be going back next Xmas xx

Christmas roast was excellent. Steak (sirloin) was really good, but had better elsewhere for less £. Steak night is a good option, especially if you want to share a bottle of wine but I believe the wine deal is limited to Rump only. Really enjoyed the visit and the meal. The bill came to about £70 for a steak, Christmas roast, two desserts, two pints and two soft drinks, so it's on the pricier end of pub meals, but you do get quality food for that price so it's worth it.

We had booked a table for 7 on a Saturday lunchtime. The staff were friendly, attentive and we were given a big table. Great service and superb food. It’s great to find a pub that doesn’t rush you, and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed our visit. Only 4 stars as the vegetarian options were awful. The only option was Jackfruit or a cheese sandwich. Please can you offer more vegetarian options.
