Amazing place, on the pricey side but worth every penny, I had the hunters burger and sticky toffee pudding for dessert absolutely amazing presentation, I didn't get a starter but looking at others they looked fab also. My partner and I stayed here for one night in order to break our journey. We had the Fagin room, which was quirky and interesting and had a lovely, comfortable 4 poster bed. The en suite was excellent. We had a drink in the bar (lovely pint!) and then had a truly superb dinner. The service was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The continental breakfast was also good. All in all, it was a great place to stay.

I came here to celebrate my birthday on Thursday. I couldn’t not leave a review. The service was so wonderful, warm and welcoming. Your front of house team couldn’t do enough for us and made my birthday meal feel so special, especially the lady with the blonde hair (and stripy t-shirt) … thank you so much for such fantastic service and especially for being so lovely with my little boy. We got to try the new summer menu and it really did exceed expectations! The salmon and cream cheese arancini were better than the ones I tried in Sicily! I only wish I had room for dessert. Compliments to the chefs, everyone’s food was exceptional. Just a really really impressive evening and I can’t wait to come back. Thank you!

Chosen as a 'halfway between' venue for meeting up, we had no idea what to expect. When we arrived the bar was very quiet, and the decor looked a bit tired, so we were a little worried. Fortunately first impressions were proven wrong. We were seated at the dining end of the room which was comfortable with a view of the garden. Everyone enjoyed their food, except the risotto was a little disappointing, but the desserts (raspberry blondie and mango parfait) were outstanding. The staff were welcoming and we were very impressed with their efficiency, warmth and respect when dealing with a large funeral party, mainly in a separate room but spilling over into the dining area.

We went on a Sunday 4.30pm our first time since the Hunting Lodge has been taken over. I can honestly say PLEASE bring back your normal menu which we've always enjoyed on our many previous visits over the last 3 years. Unfortunately one party had the no meat Roast Dinner the Roast potatoes were hard also the Yorkshire pudding vegetables not cooked properly. £18.00 for this meal was a joke . I throughly enjoyed my pasta dish but not a great deal of choice on the menu for vegetarians. If your serving a Roast Dinner all day it should be fresh this certainly wasn't. Won't be visiting again on a Sunday.

We were lucky enough to be invited to The Hunting Lodge for a family meal on Sunday. This was our first visit since the Lodge was reopened. We had a very nice welcome, and I was pleased that the bar and restaurant areas hadn't changed much, but the food definitely had. Being Sunday, we all opted for the Roasts - beef, chicken, lamb and pork. The vegetables were beautifully presented in a sharing bowl and the cauliflower cheese was very nice. We did save room for puds, and between us we tried the Eton Mess, the Crumble and the Bread and Butter pudding. I was slightly envious of the B&B puddings - they were certainly the most substantial of the desserts, though the Eton Mess was very fresh and pretty. Staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble (like switching the ice cream for custard or the chocolate ice cream for vanilla - thank you - little things, I know, but they do make all the difference) No complaints from us and we'll definitely be back for a Sunday Roast again soon.

The evening started badly with the greeting ‘Hello my lovelies!’ In a very loud voice. Menu was good - Chateau Brian’s advisory would take 30 minutes to cook (but non available anyway) so one assumes other meals much quicker. Arrived 7:15 meal arrived 8:15, Beef bourguignon had huge lumps of beef not strips and almost no gravy. Pie of the day, chicken & leek arrived in a frying pan with a thick dry crust of pastry placed on top. One assumes the pastry was previously frozen as it was hard and when cut had white streaks through the middle. There was a dark gravy crust about 1cm above the little gravy - assume it had evaporated whilst being over cooked - maybe why it took so long to be served! When ordering wine the waitress didn’t know what Rioja was nor pronounce it. Discovered a fabric strip towards the bottom of a glass of red wine. ‘ My Lovely’ said it was a bit of cloth from a drying up cloth. Now at the end of the meal and ready to go but was offered another glass which was declined. However when the bill came no deduction for the read wine as ‘My Lovely’ put it she had already drunk the glass. So these ‘Lovlies’ will not Bev going back. Just for the record the restaurant was not busy so such a delay in serving overcooked food is unacceptable and needs better management.

The biggest thing was half of it was luke warm not hot which is one of my biggest problems. Didn’t ask for them to be warmed up as it had taken so long to get to us we were hungry and also didn’t have the time. The starters were amazing. There was a lot of wasted extras so as a suggestion may be only bring one bowl of each but make the customer aware more is available if needed. Extras included bowls of chips, new potatoes, salad, veg!

Poor selection of vegetables (probably reheated). Second dish of chips were warmer than first. My husband is a Yorkshire man and never leaves food on his plate but he left plenty this evening. We were only customers in restaurant you would expect better service if they want more customers on a Tuesday evening.Offered free desert but were full with chips so excepted free coffees ( an Irish coffee for me )Having spoken to management and hopefully given constructive criticism we left satisfied with the outcome even if disappointed that my Birthday meal was spoilt.

My family and I have been coming here for probably over 10 years now and always loved it. Always great food and great service.I hadn’t been for a while until tonight and I’m sad to say I was disappointed with the direction it has gone. I always order from the triple combo section which always gives huge portions but it seems those days are gone and the plate was half empty. My boyfriend ordered a curry which was on a specials menu. I tried to warn him against it as I expected they might not be good at making Indian dishes and unfortunately I was right. He said it was very watery and the portion was small. We had desserts which was a very small apple pie and the waffles which I always order. The waffles are usually great but this time seemed very hard (not properly cooked?), very dry due to hardly any sauce, and one very small scoop of ice cream which all made it quite unenjoyable.Service was still fantastic and I can’t fault any of the staff but based on tonight’s visit, I feel we may not be keen on returning like we used to which is sad.

We then realised at the end of our meals that one of the side dishes hadn’t been served. The response from staff was - well shall I go and get it??? No apology this time! Hot summer night, we fancied dinner out with our dogs and knew this place had a big garden. Only one table in use when we arrived - but every single other one was strewn with food, too low to eat at or just covered (literally covered!) in cigarette butts and ash. After constantly picking food, litter and butts put of our puppy’s mouth and too late to cancel order, we moved inside. On a lovely summer’s eve?!? The place should be heaving & busy but I guess - like us - people don’t want to eat sat in a glorified ashtray or hovel. Real shame. Sort this out and they may find it gets busier!

Arrived having met with parents for lunch at 1pm on Saturday lunchtime. Told when bought drinks there was a 45 min wait for food. No problem to us as it was a hot day we would sit with drinks in the garden. My mother went to get menus and was told again a wait for food - we knew we were only having baguettes as we had eaten here before and we told the young girl this. We chose our fillings went to the bar to order baguettes at 1:30pm to be told they were no longer serving food due to being busy! Quite where all the customers were is a mystery. The place was pretty much empty. It was clearly a staffing issue - dirty tables with empty glasses and food plates covered in flies. Empty glasses thrown on the grass. A complete shambles. And the staff attitude couldn’t care less. Only 3 people there and couldn’t crack a smile between them. We found somewhere in the village far nicer.

What do you have to do to make someone take notice! I went with a friend today. We ordered and a shared started came pretty ok in a reasonable time and it was fine. Then we waited and waited and waited. Eventually I caught a passing waitress and asked about our order. Off she went and came back within a few minutes with our food. It had obviously been waiting for I dont know how long. Soggy veg and dried up chips and chicken and nut roast overdone and over waited. when I explained to the waiting staff they denied that the food had been waiting. They did not seem to care about our expectations and comments at all. When we went to pay we reiterated that the food and service was awful and she deducted £3 from our bill. What sort of impression would it give to visitors. I certainly wont go back ever.Avoid this place at all costs it doesnt deserve you and they do deserve this bad review.

We visited sufficiently early on a Friday to qualify for the early bird menu. Staff were friendly and switched on to customer service. The food was nice with plenty of choice and good value on the early menu. We had a great table and there seemed a pleasant amount of space. As the evening progressed there was a good Friday night lively energy feel. As we left I realised that the Friday band had started up. Somehow the layout of the place allows the bar to have a great (loud) atmosphere while the dining room is appropriately buzzing with conversation without it being too loud to hear older relatives.

My grandson wanted pulled pork with his burger but was told 30 minutes later they did not have any. The chips were lukewarm and my husbands fish looked anorexic and overfried. My potatoes and veg looked like they had been thrown on the plate. I find it difficult to understand why people still go there.

After reading some bad reviews I thought I'd try it myself. It was quite busy when we arrived at 6.30 so was expecting a little wait. No worries. Drink order was taken and then food orders instantly. Big menu sometimes means poor food but not in this case. We had lasagne, roast lamb, tuna loin and steak pie. Large portions of veg, salad, chips and new pots arrived first. Closely followed by mains. All deliciously cooked. No complaints from anyone. Staff were friendly n helpful. £51 for 4 meals n drinks. 10/10. We were all full n out by 7.30 so not slow with ordering or cooking.

First time coming here and the food is nothing above average. Probably the first and the last for me and my family.

The most annoying thing about this restaurant is the five speed bumps we have to go over to get to (and back) it. It offers excellent food with a good wine list and if you've overdone the wine a bit you can stay the night in one of their four guest bedrooms. It's great for parties, romantic meals and everything in between. Very popular so booking is advised especially if you don't want to spend your romantic evening in the middle of the floor. They have a couple of more secluded tables for this.

It looks good from the outside , it looks good on the inside , that's where it stops , the menus are falling to bits , food ordered starters , the roll was hotter that the soup , main if you found the meat you where lucky only one small pot of veg between 4 we asked for more and where charged for it , the deserts came out of a packet , save you money and eat else where or cook your self it would and will be better than this , over priced and not worth the time of day

We used to be very regular diners at the Hunting Lodge up until about 3 years ago, then we found better nearer home, so by default, just stopped going. We found ourselves there today for Sunday lunch and not much had changed in terms of layout of the building etc. `the building has always been nice and the decor pretty good too. Today it felt like things had slipped from how we remembered it from 3 years ago. The place looked tired and in desperate need for some investment. The gents toilets were quite disgusting with a very strong urine odour!Food was just about okay if im honest. The veg is very processed and piled high in the dishes. Swede and carrots - lacking anything green. Chips were oven chips and decidedly over cooked. The meat and deserts were nice but not WOW!Staff are nice and friendly and we remembered Gavin who we believe is the manager from previously? Lovely chap and very professional and friendly. In our opinion it needs an injection of cash to tidy the place up and the food could do with being looked at. Menu is tired and dated. Exactly the same was we remember from years ago. Come on Michael (Owner) we love your chain of gastro pubs - the HL needs some investment!Establishment (building) and the staff are great. Decor and food needs attention!

Popped in for a drink whilst cycling as this was near to home. Great staff, friendly and courteous with a lovely beer garden to the rear with lots of seating. Reasonably priced as 5 drinks were under £20. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food. Will definitely be back on the next ride

Ok-nothing special but fine for regular pub food. Have been for evening food and a funeral wake and whilst can't find anything specific to criticise it's not really far above average.

I had 3x 50p sized crab fish cakes with salad that were tasteless, then braised steak with mash & veg, the steak was a bit dry & not enough gravy was served. The carrots & beans were OK but the swede was well overcooked. Mash was also OK. My wife had fish & chips main course and the fish was so thin she could hardly tell it was in there! Highlight was the Cajun chicken starter my wife had. We'd met friend here as it is roughly half way. We won't be rushing back.

Sadly, whilst this location is temporarily closed, I look forward to being welcomed back to a local and convenient place to eat which serves typical menu items at affordable prices.

A passable Wetherspoons pub that served a purpose that morning to give us a spot to rest up and have a coffee. Totally unmemorable and unremarkable, a Wetherspoons pub that feels like it has had it's time and they've had enough. Really didn't enjoy either of the 'Spoons in Loughborough at all which is a shame. When run properly, Wetherspoons has a place in a town, sadly not in Loughborough apparently.
