Went this evening 10th June 23, we have friends coming over next week and was looking for places to visit with them. What an absolute s**t hole The beer tasted like vinegar, children in the bar, no evidence of food being served. The place was utterly filthy cobwebs stained brown they were that old. We should have taken heed before we went in, we commented on all the dead hanging baskets. Didn’t finish our drinks, husband left his because it was so bad. Avoid at all costs, I don’t understand why so many good reviews it’s awful, in fairness we didn’t sample the food. Woman behind the bar was pleasant enough.

We happened to be passing and called in without pre-booking. This is clearly a popular place and had we arrived later I'm sure we'd have found all the tables fully booked, but we were shown to a table by a very helpful member of staff. The table and cutlery were clean, the food was good, the prices reasonable and the portions adequate. My pint of real ale was tasty and well kept. The customers in the bar were friendly and the service was polite, attentive and efficient; my only gripe was that we were seated by the door to the beer garden and the draught quickly blew my food cold with the constant comings and goings.

One of the best Sunday lunches served in a restaurant. The beef was like eating butter - perfectly cooked! Atmosphere and setting was great, such a lovely county pub style. One slight gripe would be the waitresses could be a little more friendlier, we did feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest. The food outshone that and wouldn’t stop us from returning.

Lovely old pub but the prices are high I was flabbergasted at the price of £9 for a tiny bottle of wine that holds one glass this is Boston the price for the same bottle in Covent Garden is £8. Meals also are expensive Reality is I won’t be going back

We were on holiday with friends and had dinner here twice. If the score was out of ten, I'd give it seven. Food was variable: 'chicken etna' and sea bass were excellent, fish and chips less so. Staff were polite and professional but not what you would call 'friendly'. Service times were good.

Arrived around 1200 without booking and was quickly seated. Food and drinks ordered at the bar with minimum wait. Gammon steak with 2 fried eggs and a Burger Big Stack with 2 refillable soft drinks. Given 2 glasses to dispense own drinks and ice. After short wait our food turned up. My wife's fried eggs were snotty (white still wet) which is not how she likes them. Eggs replaced within a few minutes. Food, drinks and service great, will be returning.

The pace was clean enough but one waitress in particular was very slap-happy in her tidying up and taking dirty pits away, she dropped a dirty knife on the floor, looked at it and carried on, it was still on the floor when we left over 30 minutes later!
