The Mill in Boston

Was very upset and disappointed today when we turned up for my husband’s birthday with friends who had travelled two hours to surprise him to be told we had no booking. This was made almost a month ago and I even rang last weekend to double check the time and was told there was no booking. After explaining I was reassured that all had been rectified and it was all sorted and ‘in the book’ Today they said we booked on 1st November but I wasn’t even around that day as I was in Lincoln at an appointment. The 1st doesn’t even sound like 10th and I rang to double check on 3rd so that was after the 1st. I even said it was Remembrance Sunday so there was no mistaking the date. Definitely their error even though I was made to feel I had lied as ‘nothing was in the book’ Just got told they were full and nothing they could do. Wouldn’t be quite so bad had I not double checked the booking last weekend and yet they still got it wrong. Thank you for spoiling my husbands birthday and the surprise of our friends joining us when she had to ring to tell us there was a problem and thank you for leaving us with no lunch as everywhere was booked.

We held a 60th Birthday get together for my husband. The meal was fantastic everyone really enjoyed their food. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very attentive . Special thanks to Tiff and Natalie who made sure we had everything we required.

Found this place by chance, so glad we did👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Lovely pub, great meal! The pie is a proper pie. Lasagne is lovely too. Great service. Highly recommend

We were staying at the Premier Inn around the corner (literally), and had had it recommended to us. We were not disappointed. Service was a little slow but that is because everything is cooked from fresh, so not 'fast-food'. Atmosphere was good, well patronised by locals, always a good sign. On two visits, we had Beef Stroganoff (good but a lot of sauce- needed a spoon really), Sticky ribs (very meaty and tender), salmon and Sea Bass. All delicious and, best of all, served with home-made chips- quite literally the best I have ever tasted. To die for! Beer was a great pint of Batemans XB. Service was cheerful and attentive. Highly recommended, do try it.

What a fantastic place to eat. The service is exceptional and the food was divine. Both my sister and I will definitely be visiting again next time she’s in Boston. Well done to you all.

Although the mill is only a 5 min car ride away, we don't go, however my son recently took me for evening meal for my birthday, staff excellent, food wonderful, because of my experience I returned this week with my youngest son, who lives in Cambridge and regularly eats out and is used to a high standard, we both had sticky ribs and rice, we both agreed, out of this world, best ribs ever, and was served by a young gentleman, sorry I didn't catch his name, customer service at its best, can't wait to return *****

Disappointed. 2 hours to receive our food. It was our wedding anniversary, so felt let down I know it was busy but could have been told there was a delay On the plus side the young man who appeared to be in charge was very helpful.

I went with a group of friends and one of them is Vegetarian. She chose from a very limited option and found the pasta dish to be bland and tasteless, she complained to the very surly waitress who took it back to the chef who simply added parmisan cheese onto it. Still too bland and the waitresses said 'what do you want me to do about it, I didn't cook it". Weren't offered the dessert menu. Definitely won't visit again!!!

We went here to celebrate my Husbands Birthday. We were made very welcome by the Manager, really lovely lady, and shown to our table. A young man came and took our drink order, delivered and then left us to choose. He can back and we ordered our food, and chatted as we waited. The choice of food was wonderful, and had lots of choice. The food arrived and looked, and was indeed delicious. It arrived hot and well presented. We all enjoyed our food, and the young man checked everything was okay, and refilled our drinks. I think this restaurant well deserved the 5 stars, and the staff were brilliant. Would I go again, yes in a heartbeat. Would I recommend ... definitely. Need to book as it gets very busy.

A first visit and we’ll be returning. Friendly staff in a comfortable and stylish contemporary interior. A varied menu but not too large. Very good value for very good food. Background music was quiet which was REALLY appreciated!

On holiday locally for a week. Ate there twice. Excellent food, good real ales. Efficient service, though a smile or two might not go amiss

Went for Sunday lunch with my family, the roast beef was nearly raw and inedabble. We was just given a poor excuse by the management. The vegetables and dessert was lovely.

Food was very tasty, very generous portions. Next time we would ask to be in the restaurant as dogs very close to where we were eating was off putting. 5 stars for food and friendly service.

We turned up in an unplanned visit as we drive through Boston on the way back from Skegness on a Sunday afternoon. We were lured in by the promise of a Sunday carvery, but this wasn’t available for some unexplained reason. However, we ordered from the menu and were not disappointed. I would recommend the steak and ale pie. Good value, would recommend.

Nice atmosphere, unfortunately the main course of Baked Salmon was a huge let down, cold sauce, and just served with chips and some leaves, hardly a festive main course - very disappointed.

Disappointed with our steaks, (3 of us) yesterday, they came cold returned them to the kitchen to reheat but no different on their return, the actual piece of steak can’t fault, no fat, but do like my steak hot. The room looked lovely, decorated for Xmas

This restaurant scores top marks in every respect. Superb food, very nicely presented. Wonderful, attentive staff. Very pleasant ambiance and atmosphere. It is just a shame that I do not live closer; I would come here all the time. The four of us all had different dishes and to a person we said they were superb and and at a reasonable pro-ice. i would give this 11+ out of 10 if I could.

We visited for a mid-week dinner recently, deciding to have a main course then dessert. My husband had ribs which he ate most of but complained some of the meat was burnt and it did seem like some of it may have been left on a hot plate or something. One of the kids had a small bowl of pasta with tomato & basil sauce which was ok but a bit pricy for the size of it at about £7. I had a burger which was very nice and one of us had a steak ordered rare. The meat was cooked exactly as requested but the steak itself had an awful lot of fat on it (not just a thin strip down the side) that was difficult to cut away from the meat so quite a lot of it was wasted. For desserts we ordered a cheesecake and a portion of profiteroles. The profiteroles were quite small (though the chocolate sauce was divine) and, again, seemed expensive when four small profiteroles were about £8. Service was good and overall it was a pleasant meal, if a bit expensive for some elements. I doubt we’d visit again as a family but if invited to attend with friends as a couple maybe wouldn’t turn it down (though my husband wouldn’t order the ribs or steak!)

Had dinner Thai Green Chicken Curry it said on the menu what I got was 6 strips of chicken 5 strips of peepers, A weird creamy sauce that would have been more at home on the Salmon on the menu , some rice that had clearly been in the microwave. Frankly i very poor effort . Staff are nice venue is good but I reckon the steak would have been a safer bet !

The food was amazing and really good value but what made the day was the lovely lady who looked after us- nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely waiting staff, clean establishment but let down by the food :-( Ordered from the lunchtime menu, Calamari to start, Rump steak and chips and chicken sizzle with rice for mains. The calamari was processed pre frozen and over cooked and at almost £9 I’d have expected something a bit more appealing tbh, then came the mains..the rump steak was ordered as medium rare and more on the rare side, unfortunately it arrived medium to well done yet the chips were greasy and undercooked which was odd, I still ate the steak as it was a nice cut overall but only ate a few chips, the chicken sizzler however was delicious according to my husband who polished off the lot! We aren’t from the area and were passing through and used trip advisor to navigate us as It was ranked number 6 on places to eat in Boston…. Maybe we went on chefs off day I don’t know but sadly we’d not go back for food.

I have had a couple of meals here in the last couple of months and the food is outstanding. The huge choice available made it a difficult choice but all the meals that came out to our table were delicious. I highly recommend it!!

Options of 3 meat, not nice as full of fat and gristle. Luke warm veg and potatoes were hard. Gave feedback to waitress and when paying no acknowledgement or refund for the bad experience. Desserts are very expensive and have reduced portion sizes. Sorry to say we will not be back

We are not local, but meet up with friends every year at Christmas. We choose the Mill because, the staff are amazing, the food is delicious and nothing is any bother. The fact that this pub is packed is a credit to the owners, they offer no fuss excellence. Great value, tasty food with outstanding service. Nothing in my view comes close to the Mill in this area.

We've been driving past this place on & offer years & kept saying we'll have to give it a go, So eventually we did, Now from the outside & by its name I was expecting it to be a few steps above the average pub, but no, well not to my mind anyway, we've only been in the once,it all looked bit drab, the menu didn't excite me & neither did the prices, give ita try as this is only my opinion, plenty of parking to the rear.

I am unaware if there has been a change of hands however compared to a couple of previous visits I’m not impressed. The carvery was disappointing with dry food, deep fried roasts, cheap tasting meat and rotten veg! The service was completely absent! We were almost invisible until it was time to pay

We went here last Wednesday for my birthday meal. We were greeted by a polite young lady, who showed us to our table. We were given menus and offered drinks straight away. She brought the drinks over. and gave us time to read through the menus at leisure. There was a good choice of food, and it didn't take long to arrive hot at our table. It looked very nice, and indeed was.The floor is on one level therefore should be wheelchair friendly, and there is room around the tables to put a wheel chair in. The lady was attentive all evening, and very friendly.With regards to value, The Mill is ideal for a special celebration, but could prove to be a bit costly for a regular.meal out , as opposed to some of the public houses around here. It's the same story if you want a nice quiet special meal out, you'll pay that bit extra . Middle cost, not overly expensive.I would recommend The Mill, we had a really lovely evening. They do take bookings, and also have a Sunday carvery, and I would go back without hesitation.

A very busy night when we arrived and the waitress apologised for the wait before we started. But it was worth waiting for the food was excellent and the portion sizes were massive. I hate wasting food but I couldn’t manage it all. In fact all of us struggled to eat it all. I recommend anyone eating here you will not be disappointed.

Our first visit to this local pub/restaurant for food & we were not disappointed.We booked for a Sunday roast as we had seen it advertised in the bar (good marketing !) There was an excellent selection of good sized joints & vegetables to choose from with the most delicious homemade cauliflower cheese & Yorkshire puddings . The meat was tender & plentiful and the puddings ate huge if you can fit one in . The price included a tea or coffee .Absolutely excellent quality & value for money with a lovely atmosphere, we will be returning!

Having endured a very local chain establishment owned by a well known brewer, this place was a palace.Very clean with friendly and helpful staff.Good choice of menu (even catering for allergies) at an acceptable price. Food freshly cooked to order and generous portions. Drinks prices certainly lower than my local in South East England.Highly recommended

A sad occasion, we held the funeral buffet of our father at the Mill we could not fault them. The restaurant was lovely and clean and had patio doors that opened on to a court yard keeping the premises lovely and cool as well as allowing those whom wished to sit out side to do so with out feeling sectioned off. The bar was open and had a very helpful and polite gentleman serving a good selection of beers larger and other beverages. Tea and coffee was also provided which we helped ourselves too. The buffet was delicious the usual served at an elderly funeral sandwiches mini pork pie and bite size quiche. With mini sausages and sausage rolls with strawberry cheese cake and Black Forest gateaux. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a sign outside apologising that they were closed for the afternoon for a private party. Would highly recommend the venue and the cost was very reasonable with sensible bar pries. Thank you to the Mill.

Good selection of food Served and Cooked Professionally. Visited as a party of 7 on a Saturday Night. Is was very busy but Service was professional and prompt. All food was excellent with 7 clean plates. Will be visiting again in the future!

Book a table of 12 for a Saturday night meal. We were all sat at the table by 7.30. Orders taken by about 8 starters arrived at 9. Portion size of the pate was laughable. One of our party ordered scampi and chips but asked if he could substitute the peas for baked beans which was not a problem but when his meal arrived the beans were in a tiny ramekin and when he tipped them onto his plate he counted out 12 beans. The main courses were in general very good and tasty, so apart from a couple of problems it was ok, probably wouldn't make a return visit.

Normally meet a mate in the centre, thought we’d have a change at this pub near the hospital. Friendly greeting and service. I had chilli con carne, mate had sizzling chicken. This arrives in spectacular fashion like a portable Vesuvius.......lots of other customers ordered the sizzling option after it appeared.

The steak pie is absolutely massive- two pie lids give an idea on the size- Steak in in braised till melting- other dishes sizzling chicken and pasta were also fantastic-

We arrived without a booking for Sunday lunch with my elderly Father before visiting the hospital. The food was very good with a lovely array of fresh vegetables. The restaurant became very busy but the service was great nothing was too much trouble. Many thanks./

New to the area so after reading reviews was looking forward to trying The Mill, what a let down, shown to our table with the waitress right behind us we hadn’t taken our coats off before she wanted to take our drinks order, the same thing seemed to be happening on all the other tables, the Carvery vegetables were nicely cooked with just the right amount of bite, one of us had the Pork which was delicious, I had the Beef, couldn’t cut it or chew it(in fairness they took my meal of the bill).

We had heard some very good reports about this restaurant and so decided to try the Sunday Carvery as a pre-Christmas family get together. Whilst the staff were friendly enough and the room was quite pleasant, the food is quantity over quality and by the looks of it several customers were certainly taking advantage of the quantity. We were hoping for something special, particularly after the recommendations we had had. We were also rather squashed in. Maybe our expectations were too high but we have been told that the Italian food served during in the week is better.

Good friendly service. Good choice on menu with really good size portions. Found the lighting a bit bright in the restaurant and it could do with a lick of paint in places. My wife found the King Prawn Linguine had to much garlic my Pollo Alto was really nice.

The staff are friendly, jovial, welcoming and professional. We went for the carvery a party of four, from start to finish everything was perfect. The food was excellent everywhere was clean and tidy and the service second to none. We will be visiting again.

Went here last night for a meal with my boyfriend and grandma. The food was absolutely delicious and such good value for money! I had pasta etna and it was amazing, I am very fussy and I loved it. My boyfriends ribs were incredible and he was extremely impressed. The staff are very friendly and the service was great. Can’t wait to return!

I have been several times and the food is always lovely, homemade chips and salad. If anything i know you shouldn't moan but you get to much which I suppose is a bonus! You can always take it away. Staff are friendly and responsibly priced. I like to go to local pubs instead of chains. You can take your dog in the pub also. Nice outdoor area and often do fun day events and stuff.

We went to the mill for a friends birthday, we had all pre ordered and booked the meal for 7-30pm and as there was another party in we were asked to go to our table as soon as all our party was there. The starters were eventually served at 8-50pm and the main course at 9-10pm. I had the steak pie which was tasty but the pastry lid was cooked separatley and just popped on the top of the meat and just crumbled to crumbs, the veg was a mediterranean mix and had 4 small pieces of potato in with it. Very dissapointing and would not rush back

Great selection of dishes on menu but no main meals on Specials Board. Staff very pleasant and attentive with very prompt service. Four people in our party all chose something different off the menu and all the dishes were very good. Will definitely visit again

Rather disappointing food tonight. Garlic mushrooms were ok but sat in a bowl and of oily garlic sauce. There were far too many but I guess that is ok. The sizzling chicken was lumps of chicken on a sizzle plate with peppers onions etc. A carefully sliced breast would have been more presentable and better to eat....again far far too much food. The onion rings tasted like fish.

Have eaten here twice recently, both very good, simple food, well cooked and tasty. Pollo crema highly recommended!

Visited on a busy Friday night. We hadn’t booked a table but luckily we managed to get the last one. I had Pollo Crema, it was delicious, my partner has tried to recreate this dish at home but failed. We will definitely be back.

We stopped in Boston on way to Butlins Skegness and drove past the Mill which looked busy outside so thought let’s give it a try. The food was great, kids loved the chicken nuggets and the beef and ale pie was out of this world, huge portion beautifully tender beef in a tasty gravy. Washed down with a nice local ale. All food was homemade and freshly cooked to order. Our fellow dinners dishes looked great. A great find. Compliments to the chef!!

The meal was really good, beer even better.I haven't been for years but the quality is still there .

My husband and I had lunch here on Monday. We had a gap between hospital appointments and it was an easy walk from Pilgrim. We had eaten here once before a couple of years ago and both opted for the prawn and pepperoni linguini as it is still on the menu and we had both enjoyed it so much last time. It was excellent, piping hot, tasty and plentiful. The front of house lady was amazing, we arrived at half eleven and were there till about one o clock, it got quite busy, however she was well organised and quick yet still had time to make our visit a very enjoyable one. Thank you.

Recommended by a local. Good job we booked as the place was buzzing, at least two large celebratory groups which shows the mill consistently produced excellent food. Best whitebait I’ve had, no overpowering coating, really tasty, no need for the tartare sauce as it stood on its own fins and the portion was huge. The large poached salmon was bathed in a delicious lemon, dill and cream sauce, delicate and complimentary with sumptuous roasted vegetables. Service was attentive, the restaurant had the air of being efficiently run. Back on track with the diet to-morrow. An enjoyable but guilty evening.

We went here for Valentine's day while on holiday. The staff were very pleasant and the service was good. The menu is typical pub fayre though ran more like a restaurant. The food itself very pleasant and reasonably priced. A good evening.

Called because local garden centre was busy, how lucky were we. Excellent service and food. Steak and ale pie was succulent and enormous. Couldn't finish it too much. Would definitely call again when we're in the area. Excellent
