Captain Cod Traditional Fish And Chip Restaurant in Boston

Called in as was passing never been before. What a wonderful find despite being very close to slowing time the staff were all fantastic and the food was great. we had a cod a nuggets and a pie all with chips it was one of the best chip shop meals around.

In town after attending a local event, bit pecking so popped in. Tasty fish and chips, very tasty, crispy batter, cooked to order.

The staff were attentive from the moment we entered. The cafe was clean and there were several copies of the menu on each table. There appeared to be lots of vegan options but I was here for sausage and chips. It was delicious. The chips were crispy and lightly browned, very appetising. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Chips are my favourite take out meal but not my husband's, however he said he enjoyed his meal too - chips and mushy peas. We were the last people in the shop, near closing but the owner was lovely, telling us we could sit after we had finished and there was no need to rush. He chatted with us and is obviously a customer friendly person. It's a pity we live so far away because this could definitely be my regular!

The best Fish and Chips I’ve had in a long long while. Service was excellent. Restaurant was spotless and food was exceptional and plenty of it.

I have never had a bad meal from this place. The fish is always cooked to perfection and I buy takeaways from there regualrly - even after the trip home the food is still excellent.

Excellent! So fresh. Light crispy batter, not greasy. Ate in, table service. Very friendly and welcoming. Mini fish, chips, mushy peas - portion just enough. Partner had cod bites, 10 strips of cod. Again portion just enough. Both now stuffed. Best fish and chips we’ve had.

rudest customer service, kept speaking over me wouldn’t let me talk at all. When i asked for my money i had the phone hung up on me. rude and will never ever order from here again!

Visited this restaurant today with my partner and kids. The kids are normally the harshest critics for food and they absolutely loved this place. Fantastic fish and chips- full flavour and fresh. Batter has a beautiful crunch and the curry sauce is just what you need on a cold winter day to accompany your meal. Perfect portion sizes and great value for money. The restaurant is extremely clean and the ambience is lovely. They offer a wide range of food and drinks and the staff are very friendly. Dare I say - this place is a little gem in Boston!

Great fish, with super-crunchy natter and no soggy bits - the box helps i guess. Chips are excellent too and every time I go, I think I'll have a pie, but the fish always looks too good to miss.

I took my friend to this place I ordered large fish and peas I cod for coffee And a milk shake it cost £20.30 to which I was appsty disgust with with the large fish I counted 14 chips in total on my plate my friend asked for 1 cod roe on its own but was sereved 2but she did not like sorry will not be going there again absolute rip off will spend my money else we’re please be warned with our experience at this place

This is a must place to visit.... They where the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life and I'm nearly 50 years old they are beautiful xxx

Visited this afternoon for lunch with my partner and was not disappointed. We had our buggy with us and worried about taking up space but we were made welcome despite this which was appreciated. The staff were so friendly and talkative and despite it being in the afternoon just after lunchtime, it was nice and quiet inside. Our food arrived very quickly, piping hot and I must admit I was overjoyed to see ‘deep fried pizza’ on the menu, as a Scot living in England, I had not yet found a chippy which offered a local delicacy which is so personal to me and they absolutely did the deep fried pizza justice! Tasted just like home and made me so happy. My partner didn’t understand my feelings of joy but I was happy nonetheless 😂 If you go here, you should absolutely try it. It was all delicious and for a great price. We look forward to visiting again 😊 Keep up the great work and the great food.

I visited this fish and chip shop today as my brother has been in Boston Pilgrim Hospital since July, surviving on hospital food after having the trauma of leg amputation. I thought I would surprise him by taking him haddock and chips ( which is one of his favourite meals ) and something he was craving for. The lovely lady serving ( shoulder length blonde hair ) went out of her way to make this takeaway so special, added a slice of lemon, tartare sauce sachets, double wrapped it to keep it hot while I got to the hospital, and the charming man frying also added an extra piece of fish at no extra cost. I watched my brother eat and thoroughly enjoy his takeaway and he said it was the best fish and chips he had ever had. The fish was white and freshly cooked and the chips cooked to perfection ( made my mouth water watching him eat it ) These two kind people went well above their role and I cannot thank them enough for being so nice. I will definitely be returning to enjoy some of their fish and chips myself and would highly recommend a visit to anyone.

During a touristy type visit to Boston my wife and I were in search of an eatery to satisfy the hunger pangs. The first place that took our fancy was Captain Cod, pretty much in the centre of Boston. We both ordered fish and chips and I had my usual mushy peas on the side. We were both extremely impressed with the quality of the cooked to order fish. An excellent meal.

Visited twice within a few days (as enjoyed it so much the first time) so this review covers both visits. Ate in both times. Staff friendly and efficient, premises very clean throughout. Menu has the usual chip shop food but also a separate vegetarian/vegan portion of the menu which is always encouraging to see. Wish we lived closer to try more items. Interesting sounding Aspen chips still intrigue us. Food very good particularly the battered Halloumi and vegan chips. Definitely worth a look if you`re in the local area.
