Best Cafe in Workshop for good value, honest, fresh cooked food. The staff we have always found to be friendly and efficient too. My wife and family have been frequenting this place for more than 15 years and have never had a bad experience. Yes the building is old Victorian era and has been many things before in its past, so it has obviously been knocked around quite a bit. This for me gives it character, look at the old creaky staircase and wonder who and how many people climbed them in the past.... If this building could speak it would tell some interesting.tales I'm sure. There are many things you could say are not great standard if you are hard to please but the food quality and staff are top notch and this makes it a comfortable place to eat, our type of cafe. My particular fave dish is the Cheese Omelette, but between me, my wife and our children we have tried quite a good selection from the menu without complaints. We are always greeted on entry and the food is always served in a timely fashion, with a smile. We have tried other cafes in Workshop but they don't have the value, character or warmth that this one has. So try it out, if it's not for you go and be robbed by some of the other pirates in Worksop.

Wife had Vegan breakfast and oat milk latte and I had Mega breakfast with black coffee, both excellent, everything spotless with tables quickly cleared and little delay waiting and very well run by the very hard working guy at front and young girl on coffee machine!

What could be a cozy and warm, charming tearooms was totally spoilt by simply not heating the place appropriately. Why on earth wasn't the wood burner lit on a dark, wet and freezing cold January day? It was absolutely freezing cold! I get that the staff maybe warm but such places need to bear in mind that the comfort of the customer should be the priority. Who wants to sit in their coat, shivering? Come on guys, this is England in January. Get the heating on and the wood burner roaring.

Fantastic gastro pub, tucked away and only found by those that know and value it! This was a valentine's dinner, late table booked but place was still buzzing with people coming after us. Bit of a change round of rooms since my last visit a few months earlier, and I preferred it, the dining room was very comfortable, while being intimate at the same time. Very tasty food, well cooked. Don't expect vast portions, but you won't need them! Rich sauces, great ingredients and a good wine selection mean that you will be more than satisfied with your plate. Always good to see a limited menu, not vast swathes of choices, just good, local food done well. Pigeon breast to start, followed by the pork platter, one to have again! Staff were attentive without being intrusive, and the ambience was great.

18 members of Dukeries U3a had lunch the food was excellent . The garlic mushrooms delicious , several people said best they had had in any restaurant. Luke and Euan looked after us so well nothing too much trouble and served with a smile which is always appreciated. So good that we have exchanged it for one of our venues later in the year. The only complaint, portions so big I had not room for a sweet which I really wanted the passion fruit baked Alaska as I ha had it on a previous visit and it was wonderful. Thank you so much for making today such a good day. See you soon. Beryl Lee Group leader

Out for a family meal on the 16 February and have to say overall it was a very pleasant experience, the family were tolerable and the staff were excellent. With the exception of my meal everything was as expected. I decided to upgrade to a fillet steak Diane (+£5) but when I was presented with what looked like a beef burger and to be honest tasted like one, I asked the waitress to confirm. She did confirm it was a fillet steak and to her credit had no hesitation in offering a replacement which I accepted. When my meal arrived it was very similar to the original but even more overdone, certainly not a medium cooked fillet. Due to the family trying to enjoy some time together I did not complain any further. I would not recommend upgrading to what is perceived as a fillet steak if you know what a real fillet steak should be an how it should be cooked “medium”. I might be a little critical but I have included a couple of pictures of the second meal I received.
