Paul and Fari are such nice friendly people. The bread making day was superb, as was the lunch and other refreshments. We feel we not only learnt a new skill but made two great friends. Absolutley well worth the time and money.

Called in today for rather a lot of flour ( for all that Christmas baking). Had coffee and cake before we left. It was a lovely place to have a break and we will be back before the flour runs out!!. Very knowledgeable and helpful owners running a lovely clean and attractive cafe .The coffee and cake were delicious. The windmill looks fascinating and we will return for a guided tour very soon.

Tuxford Mill actually works and you can have a tour of it! We just popped in for tea and cake, but loved the range of products for sale that the mill itself processes and has available to buy. Will definitely be going again!

Visited here with my immediate family to celebrate my parents 30th anniversary and the staff can not do enough for you. We booked for the afternoon tea and it was amazing. Food is fresh and made on site unlimited hot drinks. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

Can't quite put my finger on it. The place should be excellent as its it a nice location, set back from the road with a car park and of course a Windmill. Food was ok, it just lacks any atmosphere. Service is prompt, opening times variable.

We've just moved to the region and Tuxford Mill is, thankfully, exceptional in our experience so far. On arrival, we saw signs warning against eating any food not purchased on premises; also groups of six or more could not be accommodated (WHAT?!). Does chewing gum count, or wine gums? Thought this all a bit odd. Beautiful windmill. On entering the Cafe building we greeted a young female staff member and were completely ignored. A sign advised us to 'Wait Here to be Seated'. Is this a classy restaurant, we (two adults, two children) wondered. No; it's a Cafe! Oh well; we were given a choice of tables (all marked 'Reserved', strangely). We ordered tea for three (£4.80), one squash and four slices of cake. The menu gave no prices for the cake. The bill came to £18 - £18! Cake and tea was good but not exceptional. Customer service slow, unfriendly and distracted. My advice: employ fewer people. Clean toilets - tick. All in all, very little to write home about...which is a shame, because were visited with a view to regular purchases of flour in large quantities. Won't return. Far too expensive and we're clearly too much trouble.

Lovely location and having visited mills local to us in Norfolk we decided to visit. Nice clean cafe, and we decided to have a roll each, made from the mills own flour. A bit disappointed when arrived as it was just put on a plate with no garnish or salad! For £4.50 I would expect a bit of salad, coleslaw or crisps! We then had a look at buying some of the mills flour to take home but it was not priced so didn't bother. No room for motorhomes either, which is a shame too.

Returning from Leeds back to Suffolk it was breakfast time & we decided to stop here to see what was on offer. It was a great decision! It was a Sunday at the end of July & we arrived at opening time to a very warm welcome. My wife is gluten & dairy free but this was not a problem as we both chose jumbo oat porridge & it was made with soya milk & served with delicious honey & coffee to follow. The cafe is clean & comfortable & very much to our liking as a stopping place along the A1. It is easy to access & has a working windmill where they make their own different flours. The owners & staff are very friendly & the menu varied. The cafe quickly filled up on that day but it was still relaxed & we didn't feel hurried in any way. Highly recommend.

We love this place & buy lots of the specialist products from the windmill. Have visited several times. Nice garden with tea tables. The staff tried very hard to accommodate us as a vegan family and came up with a very nice snack that was very enjoyable, tasty and made from proper milled grains. One problem, last time we visited, the grass in the garden was covered in dog mess...really put me off. I wish they would sort this as I would love to go back one day.

I live in Tuxford and have done for a couple of years but until last week had never visited the Windmill. Met my friend there last week and we were both really impressed with the welcome we received and the choice of food. As it was lunchtime my friend had homemade soup and I opted for a homemade cheese scone, this was followed by carrot cake and all we has was delicious. Despite the fact that the café was busy the staff were very efficient and we had hardly any time to wait. The café is bright and airy and there is a large selection of jams/chutneys/ honey to buy, plenty of information leaflets to browse and a really friendly atmosphere. Will certainly visit again and would recommend to anyone thinking of visiting.

We came off the A1 looking for a cafe and immediately stumbled upon the Tuxford Windmill. It was a beautiful warm day so we sat outside with Dog. Although the menu is not extensive, everything is home-made and very tasty. Husband had soup and coffee and I had a toasted tea cake and tea. The service was friendly and efficient. We didn't tour the windmill this time as we were too late. We will definitely return when we next holiday in the area.

Living locally, I often walk up to the windmill but hadn't eaten there until friends suggested visiting. What a fantastic place! Although the menu offered plenty of choice we all chose the same meal - the millers lunch. It was delicious. Although the cafe was quite busy there was a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Clearly nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and I shall certainly return.

I finally decided after a few years of visiting family to go and what the windmill was like, wonderful. I adore the produce, so far I just get my flour from them but I'm sure this will increase. One lady was very nice but the other young lady seemed reluctant to talk. The produce was a little pricey, maybe deals every so often would be good. Looking forward to my next visit.

I have visited the Windmill Tea Room a few times. The most recent visit was for a cup of afternoon tea. The tea room was quiet. The visit was on a Friday afternoon at other times of the day they have been much busier. There was a selection of homemade cakes available or choices of a light afternoon menu. I had a scone with Jam and cream (my favourite at the Windmill). This is a small family run establishment with a regular visitors. It is nice and friendly do pop in if you are passing through Tuxford. You can but flour milled by the windmill and other similar local products.

We stumbled across this for lunch and were very impressed with the service and the food. So much so, that we returned the following weekend for more. The home made soup and the cheese melts are to be recommended. Both come with special bread. The home made cakes on display look delicious - but we have yet to fit one in. A very clean and well looked after building. You can also look round the mill, which is currently awaiting the return of its refurbished sails, and there is a small garden shop. The setting is lovely and there is plenty of parking space.

What a lovely place to stop for a coffee scone and teacake, well that's what my husband and I had and it was very nice too. I purchased some pancake mix to take home for my daughter that was ground by the windmill. It looked like they had some fab cakes using locally sourced ingredients. I would recommend a short detour off the A1 to visit this lovely place, you can tour around the windmill and purchase plants and herbs from a small selection.

We went to buy some of the windmill's own milled flour and stayed for coffee and cake . Flavour of the cakes is fabulous and not to sweet. Customer service was fantastic the young servers were very attentive to detail . This is a very small place so holds approx 25 at one time . Outside they sell herbs etc , this is a working mill and sells many different types of flour and also does bread making classes well worth a visit if nearby

Have been past many times and thought it looked nice so we decided to try it. It had parking so a group of our friends with vintage motorcycles met us there. 7 bikes in total and a car. Imagine our dismay to be met in the car park by a man I can only assume is the owner who wanted to know how many more of us were going to turn up and saying we should have rung and asked if they could accommodate us before turning up as they ' get busy and if there were families there we would've turned you away'. We didn't know there was a group size limit of 8. We do now.Feeling like a scolded child I was ever so slightly put out. Business is business isn't it? Why prefer families over a group on motorcycles? We said we didn't think anyone else was coming and we were allowed in and shown to a table. Then to my horror the lady who showed us in sat us down and turned to the couple at the next table and said " is that ok or do you want to move to another table ?"Really??!The group comment I can live with , but just because we ride motorcycles doesn't mean we have a contagious disease and we don't expect to be treated as a second class citizen either. Coffee and cake was nice. Prices are fine. Waitress was lovely ( not the first one). Shame about the attitude. Won't be returning.

Wed just moved to the area when we visited in June this year. Decoded to come and try this place before we took visiting family at a later date. I consider myself a cake conisur, and was blown away by the cake here. Also well worth buying some of their flour for home baking too. Only down side is that it gets too busy (we like quiet non too busy places personally) 10/10

I was taken here by friends for tea and toasted teacakes. They warned me that if I wanted to take a photograph of the windmill I'd best not let the owner or staff see me do it as they were likely to try to charge me to do so. That rather set the tone for the whole visit, really. The teacake may have been made with their own flour and was a good size but it was not particularly special, although the jam was quite nice. The atmosphere was that of a pretentious, middle-class tourist attraction and the service was slow and, if not hostile, certainly not friendly. I really don't need to go here again.

Left Lincoln on a cycle ride to Tuxford. Arrived at the cafe as a group of 12, and was refused to be served. They claimed to have reservations for mother's day from twelve, it was 1115. They would not even serve us outside. They claimed the signs stated that they want no more than 8 cyclists at any one time. They obviously do not need our business, and can afford to loose money. Maybe they charge too much in the first place!

This is a small cafe at the side of a working windmill. The food is great, all hand made by the millers wife. Soups, jacket potatoes, quiches, millers lunch & cakes to die for. A wide selection of flours for sale all milled next door. Guided tours round the mill are available. We have been calling in here for years to pick up our flour & a bite to eat.The staff are always friendly. What a refreshing change to go to a Tesco store and find they have a proper café in situ. My local Tesco changed to Costa some years ago and it is dire in there, noisy, very expensive and very limited on choice. The café in Tesco Worksop is wonderful, clean, bright, great value for money and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I visit my sister who is in a local Nursing Home and the Tesco café has proved a godsend for somewhere comfortable and reasonably priced to get food and drink. Long may it last, wish my local store still had its decent café.

Went for Sunday carvery, really not what we expected. It’s not your usual carvery as you choose the meat and the server puts the rest of the food on your plate. The veg is on a table to the side but it’s mostly stood in hot water keeping warm, but making it tasteless and you cannot help yourself as it’s put on a plate while you stand there. There are different size plates to choose from but £12.50 for what you got seemed a bit much. The whole place is in need of a refurb and the loud music being played throughout made us decide we’d try elsewhere in future.
