One of the best restaurant meals I’ve had in many months. We went on impulse to celebrate my partner’s birthday yesterday evening, having had a very bad experience there in the past when it was owned by someone different. The food was superb and the service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended and we’ll most definitely be going again

Well, I don't know what to say here to be quote honest. We came to this establishment for a dinner reservation, it started off nicely with the Barman mark i think, promptly addressing us and seating us at the table and giving us menus and he said our waitress wpuld be with us shortly to take drinks order. We saw him tell the lady we had arrived and that's where it went wrong. The body language on this woman (didn't get her name, big blonde European maybe) was dismissive. She told another memebr of staff to "deal with this table" while she was on her mobile phone. Needless to say, very rude. The lady took our order Kiyro I think her name was, very lovely and smiling almost made us forget about the other lady, Almost. We had our drinks, starters and main and when I came to dessert, we had seen and heard enough so we asked for the bill and we left. Unfortunately we won't be coming back, the food was beautiful and Mark? and Kiyro were very welcoming but the other lady I think was their manager wasn't at all. If you do go to eat here, I'd suggest the bar area, staff are lovely there.

Nice pub with friendly staff and fellow customers. Only went in to keep warm before going to a Southwell Minster Evensong (we like sacred music and fab architecture). Beer okay, excellent home-made sausage rolls straight out of the oven - could have eaten three! Coffee poor but it doesn't set itself up to be a coffee shop. Overall worth a drop in.

Having been to view the seals with a friend, we decided to have lunch at the Axe and Cleaver - what a splendid compliment to an enjoyable morning out! We all chose the fish and chips, and the fish was beautifully cooked, my wife making comment on the wonderful light batter, and the chips were hand-cut. The welcome and attention from the staff all added to the warm ambiance of the ocassion.

A long time favourite but haven’t been since it changed hands until this weekend. Sunday lunch with friends - roast beef was inedible /soooo tough. Mentioned to serving staff 🤷♀️ no apology - nothing! Prob won’t go back after that experience. Interesting that it wasn’t very busy either- used to have to book way in advance to be sure to get a table !

Really quite bad experience culminating in paying restaurant prices for wines that are quite clearly bought from the local shop or supermarket!! How can an establishment expect members of the public to folk out almost £20 for a bottle of wine that cost no more that £5, literally around the corner!!
