A great pub, a real asset to Shelford and the surrounding area. The steak pie was excellent too, very generous portions! Cheers!

Disfrutamos mucho de nuestro almuerzo aquí, personal amable y buena comida. Entre los tres pedimos; sándwich de salmón y queso crema, sándwich de carne asada (patatas al lado) y la hamburguesa de la casa. Porciones sustanciales, muy sabroso y buena relación calidad-precio. No habíamos visitado por siglos sin ninguna razón en particular, pero sin duda vamos a volver aquí pronto.

Went for a meal tonight at The Earl of Chesterfield it’s the 3rd meal we have had and every time it’s been absolutely spot on, I’m really picky and find it hard to find places I enjoy and each time we have been it’s just been beautiful food with amazing service, I always ask to take things off and swap other items and they really do aim to please and have a laugh with you about it, Your made to feel welcome and although perfect food is important so is service and how comfortable you feel in a place and this is 5star all round for me, inside is lovely too, nice clean and cosy, I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough, Look forward to my next salmon and sweet potato fries soon

No como verduras ni ensalada, Tu hecho para sentirse bienvenido y aunque la comida perfecta es importante también lo es el servicio y lo cómodo que te sientes en un lugar y esto es 5 estrellas en todo para mí, El interior es precioso también, muy limpio y acogedor, honestamente no podría recomendar este lugar lo suficiente, Espero con ansias mis próximas patatas fritas de salmón y batata pronto

Great country village pub - homemade food that is absolutely delicious and plentiful - probably the best steak pie I’ve ever had - staff work exceptionally hard to ensure you have a great evening - been there twice in the past 2 weeks - be warned ….leave room for pudding. Absolutely love this pub 👍 👏

Absolutely delightful place. Doesn’t look like much on the outside but warm and cosy and beautifully decorated on the inside. The food has been absolutely delicious every visit, homemade and very well cooked, great menu for all appetites, proper pub grub. One of the best pubs for food in Nottingham in my opinion and very reasonable. Best banoffee pie I’ve ever eaten. Service is also wonderful and very friendly and attentive!

Not happy. A group of 12 of us came today. Most were walking and had drinks. But some wanted Hot Drinks, only to be told. None available at all. No coffee or tea. Surely in this day and age hot drinks should always be available. Next time I will bring a flask.

Enjoyable visit for a meal and drinks

We didn't eat so can not comment on the food but enjoyed 2 visits. One we sat inside with the dogs and one sat in the garden. Drinks reasonably and very dog friendly, even selling treats.

We were made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere was lovely and the food amazing. Everyone was so lovely and so helpful. The tartar sauce was delicious!! Thank you - we will be back!!

We booked Sunday lunch for 3 of us, hoping for great things after reading the reviews. How disappointed we were. The vegetables were frozen and tasteless apart from the carrots. Roast potatoes were frozen and anaemic, yorkshire pud raw in the middle, overdone on outside. Meat edible but not pink. Definitely not worth the money. No one came to table to check if everything was ok. We won’t be returning.

Lovely countryside pub with good food. Outdoor & indoor seating available. Accessible by footpaths from RoT & Gunthorpe if you're up for a bit of a walk. Only minor negative for real ale aficionados is that selection on offer could be a bit wider.

This was a lovely pub with a very warm welcome. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch and our 2 dogs were made to feel very welcome. Will return when we are next in the area.

Drove passed this pub quite a few times on the off chance I phoned them up to see if it was dog friendly so booked a table OMG the place is up there with the best I’ve been in staff and management so polite and the customers are really friendly 1st time I’ve been in there and felt right at home everyone in there basically came over and fussed the dogs Now on top of that the food was 1st class This was top restaurant food All in all a great Friday night Dogs loved all the fuss as well Will deffo be back

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch we were late as we got lost on our walk before hand. Phoned to let them know nothing is to much trouble for this Pub. Very friendly hearty food well done just what you need after a hike. Tasty decent portions and reasonably priced- roaring fire and lively atmosphere will be sure to return in the not to distant future!

A traditional pub offering pleasant surroundings & selling good quality food & drinks. There is an outside bar & seating area as well as a very large car park. The staff are very pleasant & helpful making for a great place to visit 👍

Had to leave this review, I am not a fan of Sunday Lunch BUT the one we had here was absolutely perfect !! Lovely meat, veg that was actually cooked properly rather than murdered, yorky was huge roast spuds excellent EVEN the gravy was nice ( not a gravy fan as a rule !) The staff were great. Well worth a visit, we shall certainly return !!

Visited today and ate three courses as part of a Sunday roast. Nice location and friendly staff. I would have to mention that the food was of itself high quality, this was evident from the meat and fish provided. The food was also cooked perfectly and nicely presented. I would definitely recommend, and would absolutely return to eat here again.

After walking locally we booked into this country pub. Not having been in for many years I was amazed at the transformation. Now a great local pub with modern but tasteful decor and the Sunday lunch we had was one of the best pub meals I’ve ever had . Could not recommend more highly.

Haven't tried the food, as we just popped in for a drink. A real village pub, with a friendly, warm atmosphere. Could see the kitchen and it looked impressive so may well be back to try the food. Has improved enormously since the last time I was there 20yrs ago!!

After walking all morning, came across this old pub in Shelford village. Was not sure if it was open but tried the door in case and were delighted with the welcome. Ordered a couple of drinks and decided go stay for food as well. Mine host gave us a copy of the local history trail to read whilst we waited. Limited menu, but wholesome and well presented. Will definitely stop here again when back this way.

We’re a walking group and they accommodated us all brilliantly. We pre ordered as we were a big group and everything was marvellous (arrived a bit early but not an issue) Log fire warmed us all up and everyone there friendly. GO THERE 😃

Popped in tonight for an impromptu dinner. Great food and good helpings. Extensive menu (about to undergo a tweak). Selection of four real ales. The new owners were really friendly and were proud to show us round. Tables were distanced so it had a nice spacious feel. Large car park. Ignore previous old reviews, the pub is under new ownership. We can't wait to go back and try Sunday Lunch. Highly recommended.

Booked for afternoon tea (for my friend’s birthday) after visiting the garden centre at EastBridgford. We had a really lovely afternoon in the garden. Staff were really lovely and attentive and couldn’t have looked after us anymore than they did. The food was so nice, especially the salmon and prawn sandwiches which were amazing!

This Pub, owned by the locals, offers a good range of Real Ales and serves up Great Pub Food, with excellent Service by the staff. Well worth paying a visit for best value and quality in the area.

Food was lovely. But a pint of fosters £4.00 but i have larger top and got charged a extra £1.10 for a dash of lemonade unreal. £5.50 for a larger top !!!!

Walked along the river from the Cliff in Radcliffe on Trent. Great walk to the pretty village of Shelford where the pub is situated. Nice big garden, friendly staff and delicious food. I will be going back for more!

We have regularly visited this pub for the last 30 years. We were sad when it closed in 2019 so we were pleased to hear it had opened again this year. We visited tonight for dinner. Service 10/10…food 10/10..VFM 10/10.. come on people support this amazing village pub..let’s keep it open and support the amazing staff trying to keep this facility open for the village of shelford and surrounding villages.

Had a meal here whilst stopping at the nearby caravan park. Food was good, with a fair selection. I would say that the prices are average. We enjoyed it so much we went back for Sunday dinner! Nice and cosy and well kept. Dog friendly inside and out. Staff were welcoming and hospitable. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Would definitely use again if in the village. Recommended *****

Our party of four attended and was greeted with a warm friendly smile from all the staff, everyone of them was pleasant on our 3 hour stay, the food was freshly cooked, the homemade steak pie was amazing, very good portions, the beer garden is lovely.The pub has recently been taken over, so ignore any previous bad reviews, you will not be disappointed.I would definitely recommend to everyone.

We had been out on a 7 mile walk with the dogs, was driving by the pub thinking it had been closed, but lo and behold it was open. Had not booked, so wife went into the garden to ask if we could eat, and a big warm yes. Really attentive young man, sorry did not get his name, but superb service. We had beer and wine and two roast dinners. Food was very good, although I did have a question over the roasties, not certain if they were out of a packet, but that aside really good portion, great tasting, but why a 4 below. Highly recommended.

Went for Sunday lunch with family. All Covid rules observed. Received a very warm welcome from Phil and Louise and their staff. Good choice of food which was excellent and gluten free option available for my Granddaughter. All in all a very pleasant experience for us all and the bill was most reasonable! We are sure to make a return visit.
