The Castle Bar in Nottingham

We booked a table over the phone and explained that 11 of us would all be having the £8.95 lunch deal (sandwich and a soft drink). We were asked to order in advance which was absolutely fine with us and we went ahead and emailed the advance orders to them a few days ahead. On the day, we were shown our table and the food took about 15 mins to arrive which was fine. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches and all plates were clear so that's a positive! Upon paying we were expecting to all pay £8.95 each. However, once we had all paid we were told there was still a £30 balance but they couldn't find out why. This went on for about 10-15 mins. Then the waitress discovered it was for a service change! £30 to serve us 11 sandwiches that we'd pre-ordered! Wow! We were never told of this ridiculous charge at the time of booking. Eventually they took this charge off the bill and apologised for the error. The sandwiches were great, the lunch deal was great but the managements decision on adding a service change to a lunch time deal offer should be questioned.

Had a lovely walk around the town centre and finished with a fantastic Sunday lunch at the castle pub. The staff were really friendly, the roast dinner was very tasty and the pudding was scrumptious. Highly recommend

Had an evening meal here and enjoyed the ambience of the place. It is adjacent to Nottingham Castle and Robin Hood's statue.

I’ve spent the past 10 years trying to find a pub in Nottingham that serves a decent chilli, all to no avail. We visited The Castle pub this lunch and tried their Habanero beef chilli and I have to say it was excellent. Good quality beef, a great consistency - not too liquid, not too dry - and a nice bite to it. Washed down with an Inches cider it was delicious. It was even worth the battle to get in and out of the city through traffic. Oh, and the service was also very good.

Visited this pub last Sunday , initially just sat for a quick drink , but kept seeing the food coming out so looked at the menu. Great deal for 2 courses,£20, we were not disappointed . The food was very good quality , hot and plenty on the plate . We all really enjoyed our lunch. We were not disappointed by the puddings either , great portion size, presentation and quality . Will definitely be returning and highly recommend . Only downside were the uncomfortable chairs , cushions would be nice !

Three nights in Nottingham and the Castle was on the must visit list. On the Wednesday they had a singer, the weather was fab and it was a great night to sit outside enjoy a glass of wine or beer. We decided to eat there as well - fish & chips and chilli con carne. It is so good to have a chilli that is full of flavour - spicy & warming rather than bland. The fish & chips also went down a treat. They can’t guarantee the weather but the Castle is the place for good unpretentious food, beer and wine.

Great vibe, friendly staff and delicious food! Highly recommended! Zoe and Heather were brilliant, give them a rise. :)

Average meal selection. When we were there they were out of some dishes. Typical pub food. Mostly for bar scene. Reservations for meal’s recommended.

We have been to the castle pub a couple of times and each time we have been very impressed. We have a one year old and every one is so accommodating to our needs. The food is fantastic and so is the atmosphere. Keeley has been ever so helpful every time we have been. Looking forward to our next visit!

We were 3 friends who went for lunchtime drinks, we were really well looked after by Georgina who made our time there easy.

An excellent pub with the most warm and welcoming service. All the team ensured that the party I arranged for my work colleagues was amazing. In my opinion, the food is not only of exceptional value, but it is of excellent quality too. The bar is superb with a great range of cask ales, ciders, wine and soft drinks (also great coffee). Whether popping in for a coffee, enjoying a brilliant lunch or as a great place to start your evening drinks, I encourage you to visit. Situated in a lovely part of the city, with seating outside that overlooks the castle. Easy to park nearby and relatively close to main transport links. This is a superbly well-managed venue that seems to care for its customers.

Fab pub Fab food! Georgina behind the bar was the most attentive friendly bar maid. Nothing was too much trouble and had an amazing smile.

We were visiting family in Nottingham for the weekend so I'd pre-booked a table here as it was Saturday night. The pub was absolutely packed but the staff were still really attentive and even found time to come over a couple of times and ask us if the food was ok (which it was - it was lovely and arrived really quickly too).

Had a really lovely experience here for Sunday lunch. I had the chicken roast dinner and friends had the veggie roast (mushroom wellington) - all gorgeous, especially the potatoes! Plenty of gravy, friendly staff and lovely setting. Will deffo be returning! Shout out to Keeley who gave amazing service! 😊

Jerky was a fab waitress dealing with a large order with ease . She was welcoming and very knowledgeable about the food and beverages offered.

This isn't the case, The Castle is a place that it looks like a traditional pub with his tipically furniture and the wood counter. They have prices that are more or less aligned with the rest of the city, and offer the chance to get a relatively fast meal (we went to the goal with some tex-mex quesadillas), and they give the opportunity to enjoy excellent English beers, keeping on tap mainly modern breweries but capable of excellent interpretations. Great situation for a pub, opposite Nottingham Castle with a large outdoor terrace. Georgina served us with a smile and a chat, very friendly. Will definitely come again for one of their pizzas.

Upon arriving I was warmly welcomed by Georgina who promptly served me a drink. No sooner had I sat down and I was asked if I would like food. The Castle has friendly staff and a good mix of customers. A special mention to HL Lewis for being on top of his game. When I left a young lady (I think Heather) wished me a safe journey.

This pub is a lovely place to stop for food and drinks. It’s set snuggly across from the castle (no sheriff in sight) with options to sit in or outside on the terrace. There selection of craft ales (try the wipeout) good food (portions are very generous) make this a welcome break when visiting Nottingham. Josh the superb barman will guide you in finding the craft ale that matches your thirst.
