We stayed for a couple of nights in August 2024. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet, and the hotel is walking distance to various amenities. Staff were friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable. My partner and I have stayed at multiple Premier Inn hotels across the UK previously, including this hotel, and always enjoyed our stay. This visit, I was disappointed by the hygiene standards, particularly in the bathroom. The ceiling and shower/bathtub was mouldy, and the shower curtain appeared old and tired. An awful musty odour emanated from the bathroom. The spoons provided were also visibly dirty from the previous person who used it, and only superficially wiped (at best) as there was dried coffee/tea stuck to it. There seems to be a drop in standards across the Premier Inn hotel chain, as we observed a poor hygiene standard at another Premier Inn. There is no air conditioner in the room, and it was quite warm during our stay, but I can imagine this is only a problem for a few days in a year.

Went for a quick drink and something to eat yesterday. But wasn’t allowed in with my wife because I was wearing trainers!!! It was 4pm. Had been in most of the other pubs. Botanist, white hart hotel, Tap and tonic. All not an issue. But not allowed in here 😂 Fair enough if it was in the evening. But it was 4pm.

This is our local pub and we can’t fault the food it’s always served to a very high standard. There is a varied menu on offer and the chefs lasagne is one of my favourites. Last night we attended a Mexican themed evening which was fantastic, food was plentiful authentic and very tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive and ensured the food was served quickly to all tables. Well done to everyone involved a good night was had by all!

Good atmosphere, with sports and music.sudden price increase although the budget kept prices the same. No wonder pubs are closing. £6. 15 for a pint and half or 10 bottles of Sol from Asda for a tenner you do the Math. But saying that not the dearest pub in Sawley.

We ordered 4 meals - after 15 minutes someone realised they had no salmon. 2 meals then arrived and we waited 15 minutes for ours ! The fish was not nice , chips were stone cold. We have eaten here previously and it was good. We won’t be returning - don’t waste your money.

I had a cheeseburger this evening and unfortunately both the burgers were only cooked halfway through. I did tell the barman and had an underwhelming response. I asked him later if he had told the chef, and apparently the chef didn't know how it had happened. The barman said he was going to come and find me but he was too busy with other people. There were only a few people in the pub, so not sure what he was busy with. The apology was half hearted, no eye contact, and noo attempt to make amends. So I paid £13.50 for a plate of fries. Not all bad, my friends burger was fully cooked and the fries were fine. I'm just so disappointed at the barmans response. Anyone can have a bad day in the kitchen but it's how the problem is dealt with that makes a difference.
