The best restaurants serving British food in England

We enjoyed another three course lunch at Sessions. We began with a cocktail each, a Negroni and a Espresso Martini, both of which we excellent. The starter we chose, a mousse from Lincolnshire blue cheese was the dish of the day for me. The sharpness of the blue was at exactly the right level. My wife chose the Masala mackerel for mains while I opted for the boeuf bourguignon. The dish was rich, with succulent pieces of beef and a delicious red wine sauce. We both had apple and blackcurrant crumble for dessert. Portion sizes were perfect and the students worked hard at getting their heads around everything. Well done to Josh for great service to us. Two 3 course meals and two cocktails, £35.

A wonderful place to eat; such a pleasure to visit and find a place that was so welcoming and being able such enjoy top quality food. Nothing was too much trouble; we had delicious sandwiches freshly prepared from local ingredients. Coffee that was fully flavoured, but refreshingly not bitter. All the cakes were definitely home made; tasting well and looking gorgeous. The cafe was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our first visit, but definitely not the last.

Honestly this is the best breakfast by far in Chorley !! The staff could not be anymore friendly and accommodating, specifically to my needs . Food is always cooked to perfection and the place is always clean and ready to go . I’ve been going for food since around November 24 and it’s always my first choice to go since then . Would highly recommend and have recommended to mates etc ! Top job team

Popped in here for lunch on Saturday 27-08-22. So impressed. Good quality ingredients, reasonably priced. Home made pies,quiche. So good went back half an hour later and purchased takeaway salad for tea as well!!! Service and staff first rate.

Ordered a medium beef dinner, yorkshire pudding wrap, lemon cake and a apple crumble/custard. All were lovely! Fast service and good price for quality food. Would definitely come again and recommend x

It's a lovely farm cafe with exceptional quiches and pastries full of flavour. There is not much room inside as there are only about 5 tables, one of which is quite large, but there is plenty of seating outside in the pleasant courtyard. I would recommend it to anyone who asked.

The staff were attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu and truly passionate about ensuring that every part of the meal was perfect. Every staff member we encountered made us feel like honored guests and their professionalism truly set the tone for the evening. We opted for the taster menu with wine pairings. Every dish was beautifully presented, bursting with vibrant flavors that were both innovative and comforting. From the delicate amuse-bouches to the decadent desserts, each course was a perfect balance of texture, flavour and creativity. The wine pairings were equally spectacular, with each pour complementing the courses perfectly. The sommelier’s expertise was evident, guiding us through the selections with detailed descriptions and insight into the origins and notes of each wine. Each sip seemed to enhance the flavors of the dishes, making the experience all the more enjoyable. However, what truly set this experience apart was the service that went above and beyond. After our meal, we found ourselves in a bit of a predicament when our taxi failed to arrive. Without hesitation, a staff member offered to drive us home, ensuring we had a safe and comfortable journey back. This kind gesture left a lasting impression on us. It wasn’t just about the meal; it was about making sure we felt cared for in every way. This restaurant offers not just an evening out, but a genuine escape into a world of luxury, fine dining, and exceptional service. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will undoubtedly return to experience more of the unforgettable magic they create.

You get such a warm and friendly greeting from all the staff here, this has surely got to be one of the best places in and around Derby to enjoy one of their fresh salad boxes, sausage rolls, cakes or filled rolls, all at a very reasonable price.

What a little gem of a cafe! Next to a decent sized car park, we popped into Yam Frae Yam on a disgustingly wet Saturday afternoon. We had missed the breakfast menu (served until 12) but one of us had a bacon and brie panini and lemon meringue blondie. Both were delicious and great quality. We both also had coffees which were expertly made. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful, even giving us recommendations on walking trails locally and showing us specific routes on Google maps. Loved the unusual decor and the cafe felt spacious - unlike many others where you feel like you're sat on top of other customers! A lovely place to spend a few hours on a rainy afternoon. We hope to return again and sample the breakfast menu! And a shout out to the young lad working there who served our drinks and food and was proactive in clearing our table.

Difícil de elegir, así que compramos bastantes cosas y ahora estamos sentados en casa en coma de galletas 😂 😋 Recomiendo encarecidamente a otros para visitar, no te decepcionará!

Truly deserves 5 stars in all aspects. Delivers what it says on the tin. Great ambience, bright, airy and modern in beautiful setting. Great cafe style food and wonderful service. Rocky our waiter was wonderful - very attentive and friendly. A hidden gem I would say.

As The Royal is our local, we do pop in to enjoy the relaxed, and very welcoming atmostphere that The Royal provides, wether that be for a drink, weekend cocktail (thank you Cain for your fabulous Espresso Martinis) or lunch or dinner with family or friends. This afternoon booked a table for Sunday lunch. We have been here for an few sunday roasts, but i have to say...Oh my word, today's Sunday roast was absolutely exceptional, we could not fault a single thing. Amazing, keep up the fantastic work in the kitchen Pete and Chris :-) we love it.
