Morning Coffee? If you are bound for Waitrose in Saltash, but cannot bear the thought of a morning coffee in its cafe - where the almost dead gently rustle and wheeze- then there is always an interesting alternative - Concoran Farm, a few miles on, in St Melion. The surroundings are calming, coffee and croissant are excellent, the bakery is promising, and the people watching is wonderful, as each newly arriving couple finds it difficult to suppress its disappointment that other people know about their special place. There is a restaurant, too, which serves an expensive and slightly odd dinner on certain nights of the week. Why only four stars? Well, I just wish establishments would train their staff to be more welcoming, charming, friendly. Here, it could have been. “Good morning. Welcome to the cafe? What would you like?” But rather it was a head down, no eye contact “Hello. What do you want?”. It costs so little to make people feel special.

Amazing find. Food was on another level and possibly one of the better meals I've ever eaten in the UK. Service friendly. All in all a great restuarant.

Previously visited the restaurant for taster menu and cafe a couple of times. When in the area we call in to the onsite bakery to pick up some sourdough bread. Recommend the whole setup!

Respect to anyone who starts a business, especially a restaurant that pursues high standards. & one located in an area not known for good food - just west of Plymouth. We chose the shorter menu; 7 courses, each mainly consisting of a couple of mouthfuls, and 4-5 of the dishes served cold to warm - i.e. 5 peas in a pod, or 4 broad beans halved atop a small pastry. The “main course” was 2 small varieties of turnip, in onion gravy. It’s not cheap - with drinks & service costing around £100 / head. & it takes patience - our meal was 2.5 hours from start to end - and so 20-25 mins between each serving / mouthful. We felt the evening lacked some joy. Each dish served with too much reverence, & a minute monologue as to how it was created, & how great each tasted. Let the diner judge on its taste, and as there are 9 or so tables inside, you get to hear each course’ monologue repeated many times through the evening. The wine list is v short. The single loo needed a clean. We like the idea behind the place - quality; seasonal produce, locally grown / sourced and prepared. & the food tasted good. But in the South West many restaurants, pubs & hotels deliver on these principles - but most with less pretension, and more warmth, fun and charm.

Went here for my wife’s birthday dinner. We had the 12-course tasting menu which was spectacular from start to finish. Genuinely not a single dish was less than amazing. Super service from lovely staff, and a lovely dining room too. Excellent value for money for one of the best meals you’ll ever have.

We came in their first weeks and have been coaxing mates to come back since. Out here on a very wet February night the most satisfying and delightful session here has just happened, coinciding with the announcement that having held their Michelin green star for almost a year they have now been awarded a fill on Michelin red star for quality and creativity. Highly deserved and we will be back and back.

Truly a special experience of food created and crafted from the earth with creativity and passion. The range and uniqueness of the food and taste was extraordinary. The ambience is a small cosy restaurant in a farm building serviced by staff who are charming and offer extensive details of each course. We dined. On a tasting menu day. A wonderful experience and special place. Thanks to the team for a special evening..

Four of us ate at Crocadon on a cold November evening and the food was sublime. Owner and chef, Dan Cox produces a tasting menu very reminiscent of three star L'Enclume at Cartmel in the Lake District and indeed he worked there for some time. The whole ethos of Crocadon is based around its own home grown produce and the care lavished on the flavours and presentation is mind blowingly good. We spent £500 for four including wine and my advice is to go before it gets three stars and the price more than doubles.

A Hidden gem if you are a foody and totally appreciate the concept of home grown in every sense of the word. Even the delightful meat rested on the farm. Absolutely stunning meal, great atmosphere and service. Attention to detail with presentation and taste perfect for us. Would highly recommend this dining experience.

Went as a party of 4 for the £95 tasting menu and it was absolutely stunning. The food was beautiful, the way it was explained was perfect and the flavours were just amazing. I loved the local herbs and learning about the history of the meat. Would definitely go again and recommend to anyone.

Wow! Was so looking forward to our meal, and it exceeded our expectations. The best meal we have ever had the pleasure to eat. The food is totally of the farm and local area, the sheep dishes were sublime, however the pudding evoked memories of a childhood spent with French "family" on Brittany. Tastes from humble ingredients that combined to make something exceptional. Dan and his team are totally engaged in their "soil centric" ethos, which made a truly unforgettable experience. How I wish we lived closer....

The best meal and overall experience I have had for ages. Beats the much Michelin Starred restaurants I have been to in London in the last year hands down at a quarter of the price. Outstanding

To start with you drive down into this very rustic drive and into the carpark, there you walk through a beautiful front garden with old walls decorated. The restaurant has an open kitchen so you can see your food prepared and has a wonderful outside area with seating, interesting veg plants for sale and we had started to have a look around and were given directions to go and explore all of the fresh produce growing which was amazing. The food was like nothing I'd ever eaten before and every dish was more interesting and amazing than the last. The chefs and staff we lovely and the experience was very special. Would highly recommend!

Amazing place, food was exquisite I sometimes worry that such pretty food might be style over substance but that was definitely not the case here. You can watch chef from the restaurant and each course was explained in detail. Everything was lovely even down to the crockery that’s handmade on site I believe.

We chose the £95 full tasting menu last night, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. We enjoyed 13 courses, including four starters, three fish dishes, two meat main courses (I and my brother in law enjoyed two pork dishes and my sister in law had a venison equivalent), and finished with two desserts and two petit fours. Everything was made from fruit, herbs, vegetables, and meat from the farm and fields surrounding the restaurant, with selected key ingredients (scallops, mackerel and mushrooms) from local producers with aligned values. Everything has a strong emphasis on soil health and regenerative agriculture. I had forgotten that food could taste that intensely – it was like the volume was turned right up, and every dish had an incredible variety of textures and complementary flavours. It's hard to pick favourites, but my stand out dishes would be the following: Nettle tempura (see photo) with cheese made on site with cardoon "rennet" and pea-miso. They were crunchy and tasty and I could have eaten plates full of them!! Venison liver parfait with sakura, white currants and savoury bread. The parfait was light and perfectly matched with the sharp currants, flowers, and plum powder, and the bread was light and unbelievably tasty. A perfect combination, and really left me wanting to take some home! Mackerel, rhubarb, magnolia + turnip – the mackerel was served sashimi style and was tender and scrumptious, particularly against the tart rhubarb, magnolia and crunchy turnip slices. I literally licked the plate clean as I couldn't get enough of it! Saddleback pork, black garlic, purple sprouting + kalibos. The pork was a piece of loin and a slice of incredible sausage. It was accompanied by kalibos cabbage, first as leaves, but also made into sauerkraut and then cooked and pureed. It was absolutely delicious. So, so good! And finally the aged bonfire parsnip was mind-blowing (see photo). Who knew that parsnip could be cooked in so many different ways, that all worked together to create a dish with a depth of sweet, smoky, crispy, chewy and light moussey flavours. Nothing I can write about it would do justice to this dish. It's phenomenal. This restaurant has been 6 years in the making by Dan Cox, and his attention to detail is evident absolutely throughout the restaurant, drinks and menu. The crockery was all hand-thrown on site, much made by Dan himself. There is a matched wine AND a matched non-alcoholic drink option to go with the tasting menu. The non-alcoholic option was hugely appreciated and included amazing drinks such as an apple, parsley and black pepper juice which was completely delicious. Crocadon already has a Green Michelin Star, and it has only been open for a couple of months. I highly recommend that you make a booking before it's too popular to have any availability!!

First visit but not last. Only previously been out here for producer etc fair event at Christmas time but not for several years. Came on recommendation of reliable friends for evening large set price taster supper. £95 plus booze. All or almost all food grown or raised hereabouts. Spectacularly good. Chef Dan Cox has wealth of experience at Michelin level and those skills are well displayed. Our meals were so large they were almost more than we could cope. But we will be back. We would have liked to have been able to find out more before we booked. There seems to be no telephone option, it all has to be done by email. But we’re learning.
