The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

Wonderful venue, lovely, kind staff/owners. The home-made ice cream is delicious and the special coffee excellent. All enjoyed while taking in a breath-taking view across open countryside to the Yorkshire Wolds. Well worth a visit.

My OH and I called in to Rossini's on Friday evening for a quick bite to save cooking. The restaurant is in a cordoned off section of the Two Brewers Pub, and although the pub itself seemed quite busy we were surprised that there were no other diners in the restaurant area. The restaurant area is decorated with artificial plants, vases and pots, and photos of Italy - it's not really flash but feels cosy and like a little authentic Italian family neighbourhood restaurant. Service was excellent, both of our servers were friendly and chatty, and despite being the only diners we didn't feel uncomfortable or unwelcome which can sometimes be the case. Food was first rate, again nothing flash but authentic and reasonably priced pasta, pizzas and main course grills in good sized portions. My OH had Arancini for a starter, I tried it too and we both thought it was very tasty. I had a spicy chicken, bacon and tomato penne and it was very spicy but lovely, my OH had the house pasta which he declared very good. We were both too full for desserts but next time we will save room! I do hope Rossini's gets more customers as they deserve to succeed, it is so nice to have an authentic and well priced Italian in Chelmsford instead of all the chain restaurants and over priced 'special occasion' restaurants.

Atmosphere is wonderful and very peaceful, food is passable. Staff are quiet and helpful. Ordering process is uniquely hands off. I had some nice banana pancakes for a late breakfast; however my review is necessarily poor because after my last visit ended I was violently ill when I got home for roughly 20 minutes, and then voided my bowels for another 10. As such I can’t recommend you eat here.

Wouldn't recommend if you are gluten free / coeliac. When I arrived I asked for a gluten free menu and the waitress was very abrupt / made me feel like an inconvenience. I then asked if there was anything they could provide gluten free and then waitress just listed all the things which had gluten in them and then didn't attempt to accommodate for me. The only good thing is that a manager took my order. I understand that not all cafes can provide gluten free products but we would appreciate if they were a bit more understanding / could explain what dishes they could provide gluten free.

First time visited today , will certainly come again , food was lovely, and staff very friendly, I would certainly recommend it, and will certainly go again, when I can get there my P A took me today. Thank you Mark Apted.

Visiting Penkhull we popped here for some food,staff very pleasant and the sandwiches were very good.We definitely return when visiting here again...

Un café absolutamente brillante. Vengo aquí casi todos los fines de semana para una fritura de calidad - uo pero el menú es muy extenso. A mi hija le encantan sus batidos.

Beautiful place- inside lovely tea room and outside terrace available, friendly and extremely quick staff. Tea and scones are the best ever. Highly recommend!

Esta es mi cuchara grasienta favorita en Londres, nada más se ha comparado hasta ahora. Los precios son menos de 10 libras por platos 3 veces el tamaño normal más bebida más tostadas? No es solo un robo absoluto, la comida y el café sabe increíble también. Nos atendieron las mejores personas de la historia y honestamente simplemente lo pasamos de lo mejor. No me gusta escribir comentarios, pero estoy feliz de hacer cualquier cosa para promover este lugar y su increíble servicio. Me encanta.

Stopped in for a much needed bacon roll whilst out a cycle. Staff were great chat and a good laugh, all the locals in there were friendly and the roll & coffee we had was 10/10. Will be back! Cheers from the lads in Lycra!

My mother and I had a delicious lunch at Waltham Place. It’s a set menu and everything was delicious and the service very warm and friendly. We enjoyed a very informative and enjoyable 2 hour private tour (£40 total for a group of up to 4 people) by one of the estate’s very experienced gardeners, Tim. The gardens are stunning and set against the backdrop of the beautiful house. We had a fantastic afternoon and will definitely come back.

Menú de barra recta, bastante variado, desde bocados ligeros hasta bistec y papas fritas. Los pedidos son recibidos en el bar por un personal muy amable, encuentra una mesa y siéntate en ella y, si tienes suerte, puedes sentarte junto a uno de los grandes ventanales con vista al green número 18. Precioso salón, servicio rápido, precios moderados, bien servido y buenas raciones. Si lo que busca es un almuerzo de pub en un entorno encantador con un excelente personal y buenos precios, ¡definitivamente salga aquí!

Este café existe desde hace unos años, pero lo acabo de encontrar ya que nunca lo había visto publicitado.  Un gran descubrimiento, el personal muy amable y buen servicio. Menú variado y buena comida tanto para mirar como para comer. Un montón de obras de arte para mirar, libros para leer y mesas y sillas bien decoradas. Mi primera visita, pero se convertirá en una visita regular, muy feliz de encontrar un valor tan bueno a nivel local, tanto en términos de precio como medioambientales.
