Caledonia Cafe in Edinburgh, City of

Spontaneous visit to this local cafe after passing many times and always appears busy. The menu has a huge selection of hot, cold options along with sweet treats and drinks too. You can also sit in and take away if preferred. Upon entering I received a warm, friendly welcome from a polish lady who appeared to be the manager and in charge of serving. Good size cafe with lots of tables to choose from and very clean. Also, level access from the street is provided so good for wheelchair users. Decided to dine in and order the lentil soup with a buttery roll as I was short on time. With lots of food options to choose from, keen to return and try some of the other items on offer. Service was prompt and the portion was large. The soup was also piping hot and very tasty. Overall great first experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good cafe near Gorgie area.

Family just moved to area, so we visited today. Had checked the menu beforehand and the wide selection of choices was appealing. The cafe was spotless and staff were lovely. The food was fresh, hot, tasty and real value for money. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend it.

You must pop in when in Gorgie Road. They cater for any time of day. I enjoyed hot chocolate and a large slice of carrot cake to die for. Staff very welcoming too to a stranger

I went here today the food was lovely and so was the staff especially a girl called Julie at Glasgow Airport. Very helpful and excellent service she should be commended for this as made my day chatting and being served by her .

Great little cafe on Georgie Road (opposite Tynecastle football ground) where you will get a very friendly welcome from the staff. Nice extensive menu, with plenty to choices. Ordered two breakfast rolls and a coffee to go, and was freshly prepared in no time. If passing by again will be sure to visit.

Passing through Gorgie looking for breakfast and stumbled across this wee gem. Both of us had big breakfasts, I had the biggest one. Two of everything - bacon, sausage, tattie scone, hash browns, fried eggs - plus haggis, black pudding, beans, mushrooms and toast. For a tenner! It was lovely too, I polished off the lot. Coffee was nice too and service was really friendly. Would definitely go back.

Very nice service and foods is okay ;) Location is great for me so I’m happy:) Because there are little places like this in the area with such a price.

Friendly staff. Reliable basic menu. Rolls, sandwiches and not a complicated menu. Coffees are ok, and there are pictures on the wall from around the world.

The food here was delicious and exceptionally well priced! Best wee spot for a quick pick me up. The hot rolls are my particular favourite.

Apparently we should’ve ordered the typical English breakfast, because our burgers and paninis were average at best. Prices were good.

I needed respite from a particularly dreich afternoon and was more than happy with what I found. Good coffee and the bacon roll was generously filled, which is always a good sign. The service was prompt and friendly. Close to Tynecastle Park and full of Hearts paraphernalia but very quiet considering it was a match day. Hearts had lost at home to rivals Hibs so that may explain a lot!

We had breakfast here after reading the Tripadvisor reviews. We fully agree with the other 5-star reviews here! Good food, very decent coffee and very friendly staff. Not in the touristy part of town, but if you’re near this place we certainly recommend to get a nice breakfast here!

The best place in the whole length of Gorgie. The super breakfast is just a wonderful feast. After having a few meals in Edinburgh this is the best place for a great breakfast. OFflint the tourist track, but just perfect for locals.

Veggie, un desayuno aún más GRANDE, y almuerzos. Lugares como este deberían protegerse contra las modas culinarias. Su café es mejor que los lugares de "Cadena", también.

Hace poco volvimos a Edimburgo y este café está justo al final de mi calle. ¡Qué hallazgo! Este café tiene una amplia gama de desayunos y comidas, todos de muy buena relación calidad-precio y todo fresco a la orden. Prueba el desayuno escocés o inglés, no quedarás decepcionado, y todo por 6 libras. El café está bien servido por muchos autobuses, está a las puertas de Tynecastle y a poca distancia de Murrayfied Stadium. Tiende a cerrar a las 5, así que no es un lugar de noche. El personal es muy atento y amable.

It simple grub, done well. Coffee is good, breakfast is ace. Not many good cafes like this left, so use it. Quite often packed, for a reason.

Excelente lugar. Aquí POR LO MENOS 4 veces al mes ya sea con amigos o familia. La comida es excelente, amable y servicial personal bueno y el personal femenino son todos muy acogedores y sonriente. Nunca tienen suficiente de este lugar. También un lugar para ir a como una mujer solitaria para comer algo y un delicioso chocolate caliente en un un ambiente seguro y agradable y libre de problemas. Muy relajante y estimulante.

Este es mi café ir cuando me he centrado demasiado en los comentarios de bar" de la noche anterior. El desayuno xxl tiene haggis, tatties scones, morcilla, salchichas. . . Básicamente todo lo que debe. tener en un desayuno escocés, pero que la mayoría de los cafés se pierda.

This was a family visit after spending the morning at Gorgie farm , we were looking for some food, and bumped into this little place, that was rather busy, we sat down and were welcomed by the staff, the attention throughout our meal was very good, all the staff were nice and friendly, we got chicken nuggets and chips for the kids, which included a juice, for the adults tattie scone rolls, and 2 orders of Mexican chicken panini, all the meals were nicely cooked and hot , and had good flavour. Prices are really cheap, attention excellent and good food, can't fault them...keep up the good work!

Cup semi final in Edinburgh stopped for a pre match snack. A fantastic wee "greasy spoon" not pretending to be anything else. Excellent haggis burger & XL Scottish breakfast. Good value & Friendly staff. Cash only is always a pain though.

went to this cafe on 31/07/2015 for breakfast on the basis of tripadvisor revues. glad to say they were correct. as a resident of edinburgh it is getting increasingly hard to find a decent little cafe for breakfast and this one ticks all the boxes almost. the only fault was not cooking egg the way we liked it apart from that great.

I've come here a few times the morning after a night out and never been disappointed, in fact it's probably one of best places to have a hungover breakfast in Edinburgh. Puts the life right back in you.The staff are welcoming and attentive. The orange juice is fresh and not from concentrate, and the cooked breakfasts are excellent and very substantial.

This cafe is situated in the heart of gorgie.just 5 mins away from Tynecastle stadium(home of Heart of midlothian)The staff are friendly the place is kept clean & tidy.Menu is decent & reasonable priced.portions are very good.Footie fans are welcome..not just the home fans although dont let the maroon & white(hearts fc colours)decor put u off if ur a visiting team.

This is the place to come if you want a warm, chatty welcome.Choose a menu in the saltire's colours or the Jambos'!There is a good breakfast choice plus mains and snacks for the rest of the day.Fruit scone comes with butter and jam and is toasted.
