A beautiful little cafe hidden in the Chalke Valley. Tucked away behind the shop they serve a great choice of local cakes and coffee. The Dorset Apple Cake is a firm favourite. The service is amazing, always friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm. I would return anytime.

Visited at 3:40pm, they close at 4pm, and was served by a very cheerful lady with a great cuppa and piece of cake. A very smart, multi-functional cafe that's been really well maintained and is a credit to the village. We were not pressured in any way to leave and had an enjoyable chat about the history of the building while supping our drinks. I'll definitely be back.

We've visited twice, December 2017 and October 2018. We made sure to come again as we were bowled over the first time. The shop and the cafe are run by a team of friendly local volunteers. The cafe serves delicious home-made food, tea, coffee etc. The shop stocks a selection of lovely eats, including fresh local produce, bread, cakes and the veg. They also have a fine selection of excellent cards. To cap it all, there is a Post Office as well. Each time we've visited we have come away laden with goodies. If you are in the area make sure to call in. If you are farther afield, why not make a detour and discover the delights of Broad Chalke? To find the store and cafe, look for the Methodist Church, because that's where it all happens, except for Sundays!

Quite often stop here to get my sandwiches for lunch. Clean store in an old church run by volunteers from the village. Opens at 08.30 in the morning. There is a coffee shop at the rear. Keep it local or we will loose places like this.

In the village and saw the signpost indicating a coffee shop in the church. Plenty of off road parking. Well stocked village shop leads into the coffee shop, with plenty of tables and comfy seats. The cakes etc on offer are all homemade and a little pricey in my view. But the cheese scone I had was very nice indeed

A little delight! The coffee shop is through the small village shop in the main hall of the chapel. Of note is the very nice home made cakes and scones that are clearly the work of people with great skill and passion for cooking. I had a tasty and well prepared panini, moist and tasty Victoria sandwich cake and a delightfully traditionally served pot of tea. My lunch was served to me by ladies who volunteer in the coffee shop and did so with a friendly smile. It felt like having Sunday lunch at my grans, and that is one of those memories I treasure. Definatley a lovely place to stop and rest in when travelling through or enjoying the great walking nearby.

Easy to miss this café in a church and behind the community run shop. Easygoing atmosphere, lunch was limited choice but freshly prepared [panini or quiche with salad] - service a bit slow as a result. Fresh scones as well. Good value for money, not a lot of space for children. Very good stop if you're walking in this beautiful valley.

I went here a couple of weeks ago for a late lunch with my mother and sister - it was late because we couldn't find it!! My husband had told me about the cafe but there was no signage and we lost GPS signal but got there in the end! The food is made by volunteers and I have to say we had the best pea and mint soup ever! Really delicious, served with a generous supply of warm bread. Just what was needed. I think we arrived after the rush had gone - very popular spot. Well worth seeking out. - great idea running a community cafe and shop in a church.

Found this while cycling route 20. This is a church building used by the community not just on a Sunday for worship. it has a shop selling local produces and a cafe where you can pick-up a quick snack, cakes and drinks.

I have visited here twice recently with my elderly mother. The Cream Teas are superb with the best tasting warmed scone I have tasted in a while. The home made cakes are also superb with a decent cup of tea in a large pot with extra hot water. We will definitely be returning for a light lunch at sometime. The friendly personal service in the Cafe is lovely.

Came across this gem by chance. Upmarket community run venture which includes a shop, post-office and coffee shop- enterprising . Delightful ambience and shop assistants, all very much top notch. Excellent cappuccinos and warm apple cake - gorgeous. A variety of home baked cakes on offer. Sat outside in the sun with our dog and our order was brought out.

Imaginatively run by the community, for the community, this village store in a redundant chapel welcomes visitors too. Already popular with cyclists, (who are a picky bunch) and walkers, this is an ideal stop for a light lunch or refreshment. Home-made cake is excellent and reasonably priced, but be warned! The cafe is the other side of the well stocked shop and you will be tempted by the interesting selection of locally made goodies. We ended up buying Birthday cards from a local artist. If you are white-van-man in a hurry, you can also pick up a hot snack to go or a filled roll with your tea or coffee.

Needed to meet a business colleague for an update and the coffee shop in the Chalke Valley Stores proved both a suitable location and ideal. Prompt delightful service in a room with plenty of tables. The meeting was quite private but we were undisturbed other than to be offer complementary mince pies. Tables were rotating well and we were surprised at the gentle volume of customers passing through. The meeting went well and our privacy was maintained under the local chatter. Ideal and thank you for making us feel so welcome in this brilliant local facility which is clearly the envy of the valley and surrounding area. Bravo!

I love the village shop. Having so many locals join together to support the village shop and help run it is wonderful to see. The shop is small but has a decent range of items and supports quite a number of local businesses, which is lovely to see. The cafe behind is spacious and a great place to meet locals or to have a gathering. And all this in the old church!

Still a church on Sundays and lovely soups, quiches, salads, cakes during the week. A brilliant makeover of a URC chapel. Local foods e.g. honey in the shop. You can drive on through the village to the watercress beds to put 50p in a pipe for a large bunch from the tank, fresher you won't get. Reddish House was the home of Cecil Beaton and his grave is in the churchyard.p

The Coffee Shop is such a restful place, - and the volunteers so helpful - whoever you are, young or old, male or female, and even children are made to feel special here. The Cakes are really delicious - and generous size cake slice for an extremely reasonable price. Not only do people come here from the local area, but have seen people coming from further away. Very attractive cards for sale, and some paintings by local artists.. Cycles i note love stopping off to stretch their legs, and seek sustenance

Not been to the cafe but I find the shop is pretty poor. It has won an award but compared to Ludwell Village Stores, the previous years winner, it is no where near as good. I found the food quality available was poor, they should find a new supplier of sausage rolls, pasties and sandwiches etc. The quality of birthday cards was poor. Also, and I realise that it is a community run shop, but the service is bad, bordering on rude and very unorganised.

There are a fair number of fine pubs in the valleys to the west of Salisbury, but very few cafés. This establishment fills a void, and does so admirably. Ellen and her staff could not be nicer; and the coffee and cake that I had this morning were delicious. The old church has been cheerfully converted (there is still a chapel at the back), and there are a few tables outside which will surely see more use in the coming months. I'll be back — with my friends — to try the soups and other lunchtime fare.

But for the 'A' boards outside you could drive by. Once noticed curiosity took over and in we went - though the shop and into the café area that was once the nave of the church. So after some warming homemade soup and tea and cake for lunch our needs were fulfilled. Everyone (mostly volunteers) seemed happy and possessed with a sense of fun. Well worth the stop and looking forward to future diversions from the main road!

We were in the area and I had sung the praises of this establishement to my wife so I took her there. Two bowls of Broccoli and Stilton soup with beautiful rolls and my wife was a convert too. We followed it up with a pot of tea and two slices of Cherry and Almond cake, great. We also took the opportunity to buy some home produce, runner beans, plums and a bunch of flowers inside the cafe. Then we remembered we needed some bread so bought some locally made bread in the shop.

We were passing through Broadchalke on a beautiful morning( enjoying superb unspoilt Wiltshire countryside)and gasping for a coffee, and thinking we would have to wait until Salisbury. A sign indicated village shop and coffee in the United Reformed Church so despite expecting only instant coffee and a Kitkat we stopped. Passing through an immaculately organised and well stocked shop the cafe area was beautifully set out in the high ceilinged former chapel with an array of delicious locally made fresh cakes and what turned out to be an excellent cafetiere of fresh coffee. The volunteer staff (apparently 100 on the list!) were chatty and friendly and we sat in the sunshine outside greeting the locals as they arrived. I have since discovered that it won a community shop national award (Daily Telegraph) and touchingly was opened by Terry Pratchett in 2013 who was a local resident. The local community deserve huge appreciation for what they have achieved here and I cannot recommend it enough if you are in the area ( it is actually multipurpose with meeting rooms and functioning chapel area).Give them your support!

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.
