We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Slice in Swansea last night! The restaurant itself is tiny and charming — the building is shaped like a slice of cake, which must be where they got their name. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the chefs downstairs in the kitchen, who kindly took my jacket before we headed upstairs to the intimate dining area. The seating is small and cosy, with just one server managing the entire room, but she was absolutely brilliant — incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional, just as you’d expect in fine dining. We opted for the six-course tasting menu, which began with a beautiful assortment of warm breads paired with two deliciously flavoured butters, followed by a mouthwatering amuse bouche. For starters, my partner and I chose a different dish each — scallop and lamb neck — and shared them. Both were bursting with flavour and beautifully presented, with perfect pairings on the plate. The mains were equally outstanding: cod and langoustine, pork presented four ways, and then a steak fillet with an oxtail and onion tart. Every dish was cooked to perfection and packed with flavour. Dessert was a true highlight — a very stylish and delicious trifle followed by an unforgettable banana soufflé with popcorn ice cream. The soufflé was so light and packed with banana flavour, while the popcorn ice cream took me straight back to childhood with its nostalgic, rich taste. Slice may look like a no-frills, family-run restaurant, but it absolutely surprises you with the decadence and finesse of its plates. It’s already on the Michelin Guide, and I truly believe it could earn a star — although I hope they never lose the cosy charm that makes them so special. A small note to anyone dining at Slice: their card machine currently doesn’t allow you to add a tip, so do bring cash if you’d like to tip (and trust me, you will!). When leaving, the chefs again came out to thank us and say goodbye — a lovely, personal touch to end a perfect evening. We can’t wait to return often, especially with their exciting new menu changes every seven weeks!

We were in Oswestry for a short break. It's a lovely town. We went into the old coffee pot for a coffee and cake in the morning when we got there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place itself is 1940s styled and has a lot of memorabilia and themed background music. The cakes were homemade and really good, I had a salted caramel cake and the wife had a black forest gateau style cake. Our hotel turned out to be accommodation only and we went back for breakfast the following morning. I had a full English, and the wife had porridge and toast. The food was brilliant, cooked to order and nice and hot. On the way out they had put a victoria sponge out that looked heavenly. If you are in Oswestry go to the old coffee pot.

May 2025 with more photos added. Fabulous experience yet again. Well done to Tony & Debs for an entertaining evening with exceptional food. Just seen the review left by "Travel Fan" who we sat next to on the night. Feel it was incredible harsh! Sure the topics mentioned were raised but being there, they were in context to lived experiences. Such as a visit to Whitby & seeing the golliwog shop. I would class myself as "woke" i.e I care about others, try not to offend & am sensitive to the language I use. I was not at all offended by Tony's stories & neither was my husband. Shared tables are not for everyone & I would suggest they really didn't suit this very quiet (introverted?) couple - to each their own! Personally we had a great time & would highly recommend. Most of the reviews say exactly the same & rate this as a 5 star experience. But you can't please all the people, all of the time. I love this place & have been several times before but it was the 1st time for my husband. Both of us fully intend to go again. The May menu could have been written for my husband - other than the cured salmon. However each dish was lifted to a whole new level & the salmon dish was my personal favourite. That horseradish sorbet . . . . . ! I could have eaten by the bowl full - it was amazing! Every dish had the wow factor, in both appearance & taste. You can definitely see why this restaurant wins so many awards. Can't praise Tony & Debs enough, they are a brilliant couple, who bounce off one another & bring so much fun & energy into the room. Definitely my kind of people. May 2024 Fabulous evening at Coventrys Gourmet Food Kitchen with Chef Tony & his wife Debs. It's a tasting menu with a maximum of 12 people sat a one large table. You get to chat with the other guests & with the hosts as the restaurant is lovely & intimate - like being invited to a dinner party, where you have a view of the kitchen. Bring your own booze as it's not able to provide bar facilities. This is great, as it keeps down the cost & you know you are going to enjoy the drinks - you brought them! Glasses, bottle opener & water are provided. Now to the food, each dish was delicious but I'll let the photos do most of the talking. So many processes & so much work goes into each one. As an example, the Home smoked Duck- smoked in a aged oak whisky barrel. The Duck croquettes- Confit leg of Duck with a Duck reduction. Portion sizes are generous for fine dining but luckily my son was there to help out as my appetite couldn't finish every dish. When it came to the dessert - sublime Lemon tart, with just the right amount of sharp to sweet for me, I had to concede & took home some of the Lemon tart with the Honey Tuelle & the petite fours. Far to scrumptious to let my son have, besides, he was pretty full by then too. This was my 2nd visit & I will definitely return again for the fine dining. Haven't tried the other menu's - Such as Breakfast & Fish & Chips but fully intend too.

This sub-station made my visit to Seaford and the Seven Sisters hike even more memorable! It was full of friendly locals who shared great tips about the trail. The owner was especially kind, helping me with directions and recommending a delicious sub — which honestly powered me through the whole hike. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing meal at Eileen’s. Opted for the 7 course taster menu, every dish tasted incredible, full of flavour and texture. It’s extremely challenging to pick a favourite dish as they were all beautifully cooked and well thought out. The truffle and cheese lasagna was out of this world. The service matched the food. Staff were extremely attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Can’t fault the food, wine or staff.
