Our first Sunday lunch here and it held up to expectations. Beautiful food, great service, and a very good atmosphere. Imagine it's the place to go in summer too.

This pub is outstanding. The Auberge night is excellent value and always has unusual dishes on the menu . They are often dishes that you wouldn't normally choose but they are always very tasty and are a very pleasant surprise. The standard menu is also excellent and Sunday roasts are to be recommended. The staff are efficient and friendly and the pub has an excellent ambience. Binka Craven shows exactly how a pub should be run

Tiny bar area, very little in the way of vegan options , quite pricey for what you get. Staff seemed stressed . Outside space unkempt

The Ring of Bells supports the charity, The Fisherman’s Mission and we bid for a lunch there. Travelled from Padstow and can honestly say had the most wonderful experience. Everything from the moment we stepped inside the door was first class., The food delicious, the staff attentive and engaging, the atmosphere warm and welcoming with the added bonus of live music….Thank you to everyone for making us feel so special. We brought extended family to the Ring of Bells for my husband’s 80th birthday. It’s fantastic. The pub is delightful in terms of ambience and decoration and the staff are welcoming and efficient. None of that prepares you for the food which is amazing. I have had Sunday lunch in very many pubs around the UK and often choose roast beef - this was the best I have ever had. Several of our party, made the same comment. There was a band playing while we were there which added to the moment. The wine list is also excellent although short. It really is a gem.

Superb food served in a quintessential Devon pub. If you consider yourself to be a bit of a foodie then this is the place to go. The menu is not vast but something to suit everyone. You might have to ask what a particular dish is but the friendly and helpful staff are only too happy to help. The sharing starter mezze was absolutely amazing! Good value 'to boot'!

Visited several times before but never for Sunday lunch.. Wow! If you can find a better quality tastier Sunday lunch in Devon, I'm yet to have it. Took 4 guests who have never eaten there before and they all stayed it was the best they'd had. This "pub" is soo much more than that, it has beautiful decor, warm friendly but exceptionally knowledgeable staff and a kitchen team that knock it out the park. 3 courses and 2 beers was £40pp so cracking value too! If your looking for massive portions of cheap frozen vegetables and tasteless meat for £10 then this isn't the place for you. If your looking for one of Devons finest eating pubs.. book in asap!

Delicious food! Gorgeous little dog by the fire too. We had a really enjoyable family lunch.

We visited friends who have just bought a property walking distance from the pub where we had a delicious meal. Our guy serving us was only about 17 but boy did he know his stuff. Brilliant service. We'll be back!

This is not the 1st myself and my Wife have come to the fabulous place however each and every time we come we find a new menu with the most delicious food that it’s hard not to love the ring of bells. Thank you very much for giving such great value for money and the most delicious food in devon

I love this place.. Its just what everyone wants from a village pub. It's warm, welcoming and the food and drinks available are incredible.

We're regulars here. But it's about time we made a new report. The Ring of Bells just gets better and better. How many traditional locals are there these days that are packed with happy people and vibrant conversation? Not so many, but you have it here. It's the music in this place. How many restaurants do you leave asking "how did they do that?" or "I've never had anything like that before and it was fantastic!" And "That was great value for money". Binka Craven has created something rarely experienced these days. There's no obvious car park and the place is packed. Let's hope Mr. Michelin doesn't find it and tell everyone about it!

Fantastic food, friendly service and a great atmosphere. We had dinner and were blown away. Food that makes you go wow that's amazing. The chocolate dessert may well be the best thing my wife has ever eaten. We are going back. We went back, and even better than we remembered. Great food, cooked by people who clearly love food and served in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The village is an hours drive down some narrow roads, worth every pothole.

Took my wife here, as a treat for her birthday. We enjoy eating out alot. This place has got to be, one of the best places I have eaten in a long time. We were given a warm welcome on arrival, shown to our table by a very confident & polite young man. We chose our food from the Al a carte menu. We were not disappointed. The bavette steak with shittarki mushrooms & salt beef pudding, was to die for. Then for pudding my wife had sticky toffee pudding & I had the chocolate pot. Wow, complements to the chef & his staff. Incredible Food and a proper welcoming locals pub.

One of the best country pubs I have been in. The menu was limited to about 6 choices, but were very different from the normal pub fare. We were a party of 4 and chose 3 different diners. All were excellent, extremely tasty cooked very skillfully and wonderfully presented. Well recommended. The outside space looked very nice and exciting too but unfortunately we didn't have time to experience it. We will definitely return, highly recommended.

Wonderful little pub, cracking menu with loads of unusual items that I wouldn’t normally try, but they’re all great!

This was highly recommended to us whilst on holiday. Our dogs were barked & chased at by the local dog, which we understand sometimes happens, but then the dog kept coming over to our dogs while we were at our table. It would have been appreciated if their dog was behind the bar if it took such a dislike to ours until we had left. I had the lamb kitsu curry, which was awful, but the mussels and fish & chips ate by others were delicious.

Second time I have been to this pub and I have to say everything has been topnotch. Going out from Exeter and trying new places this is definitely top of the list. The food is exceptional and the service is second to none would highly recommend will definitely be back

Friendly relaxed village pub, if you are a bit of a foodie you will definitely enjoy. Good selection of ales. Service quick, landlady and staff professional and friendly. Took friends for Sunday lunch, veggie option available. Good value. Dog friendly. Very lucky to have on our doorstep.

Pretty much flawless. Really personable staff who went the extra mile. All the meals our group had were fab. We brought our dogs as we knew the pub was dog friendly and they made friends with the pubs dog. Great relaxed atmosphere for a Sunday lunch. Parking is a little challenging but worth the effort. I think the front and back room staff should all be applauded for what they’re doing. We will be back - particularly for the sticky toffee pudding.

Superb food and service at this lovely Devon pub. Could not be better. Great local beer, and good wine list. Menu was really interesting and all 10 of us were impressed. Also good value, for such high quality. Every dish would be happy in any fine dining restaurant. I loved it!!

We visited this pretty, thatched pub for Sunday lunch and were met with a warm welcome, despite being quite early for our booking! The young staff were smiley, friendly and very efficient. As it was a sunny afternoon they set up a table in the lovely garden for us. The food was simply divine. The crab linguine starter was perfectly portioned and a good balance of flavours. The rib of beef we had for our main course was meltingly tender, the accompanying vegetables beautifully cooked and presented. My daughter had the slow cooked pork, which was devoured before I could try any! I didn't really have room for pudding but the chocolate and cinnamon pots were too tempting to miss. Served with mini churros, they were sublime. The landlady keeps a selection of local ales, Telus A Story was particularly good. All in all, a perfect Sunday lunch at a pub that masters everything a really good pub should be. If Cheriton Fitzpaine wasn't 200 miles away we'd be here every week!

We had made a reservation for Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrive and the service we received was excellent throughout. We had heard the food was good, but I was surprised by just how good it was- some of the best food I have had from a pub in Devon. I normally only have two courses, but it was so tasty I had three courses and would love to come back and try more of the menu. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Had the most lovely dinner at this traditional, welcoming and friendly pub. The quality of the dishes were amazing. Myself and my son had the Roast Duck which was simply delicious, my husband has a roast beef which he thoroughly enjoyed. My youngest is very fussy so we just ordered him a chicken drumstick starter but he said it was lovely. We then had different desserts one sticky toffee, one chocolate cake, an ice cream and a passion fruit and strawberry meringue and each one of us enjoyed our individual dishes and the dishes we dried of each other. Our dog was with us and being only the second time he has been somewhere like that he was quite loud especially when he thought another dog was trying to befriend his best human or his treats but the lady was very. understanding. Amazing food and friendly staff ideal after a long walk along the Devonshire country lanes X

Lovely traditional pub. Welcoming, helpful staff. Small, original menu. We were a party of four and all had something different. All agreed food was delicious. Beer was great too. We will definitely return when next in the area. I have never awarded 5 stars before. I couldn't fault it. Very happy diner!

Four people, three courses, 12 cleared plates, says everything and the beer and wine were equally enjoyable. Add to this that all the staff were friendly & knowledgeable tells me that you need to search this pub out. Well worth it.

This is an excellent pub. Setting, staff and atmosphere are all spot on. The menu is original - every dish is well executed and there's always something original and a nice surprise. The beers and gin we had were locally sourced, great quality and sensibly priced. It's always very friendly and welcoming.

Absolutely stunning menus here. My husband and I ate here three times in one week whilst on our holidays. All meals prepared to the highest standard. We are foodies and often eat at Michelin Star Restaurants and Ring O Bells is without doubt up there amongst them. 10/10 every meal utter perfection. One of the best pubs in the whole country let alone Devon.

Just did a dog walk and had Sunday lunch here. It’s the best food we’ve had in a pub in Devon, in the seven years we’ve lived here. We had mussels with tarragon, bacon and cream, followed by a sublime chicken hot pot, and incredible...

THE best Sunday lunch. Just had the amazing Roast Beef...tender and served pink, vegetables beautifully cooked and full of deliciously unusual flavours, slowed cooked beef bon-bon hidden in the Yorkshire was a delight and the jus packed full of flavour. Will be returning!
