You can eat as you wish here. Either a full meal or some really interesting snacks. Our favourite is the cheese on toast or mushrooms on toast. Such a lot of flavour. Service is always attentive and friendly. We notice there are some regulars too which says a lot.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Poppy's today. The cafe already had a number of customers eating when I arrived but I was able to find a table after a warm greeting by the staff. There is a good variety of food on the menu. The cheese, bacon and mushroom jacket potato was lovely, piping hot and accompanied by a very tasty salad. Excellent value for money. A must visit if you are visiting Crediton!

Not been in here for a while, so I was wondering if the service and food were as good as I remembered, it certainly was, breakfast now also included black pudding if required, it certainly was on my plate, so willingly paid the small extra fee, yes still the best cooked breakfast in town, with great friendly efficient service, a must if you're in town before 1.30 pm and like a good breakfast.

My daughter and I enjoy the white bread cheese toastie (her)/cheese and pineapple toastie (me), served with a great salad, and a portion of chips. It may not reach the table in the quickest of times but everything is cooked from fresh. I have had a tasty cottage pie and a stew with mashed potato, both were served piping hot. On another occasion the leek and potato soup took some beating, served with two warm 'home made' tasting rolls. This was followed by apple and sultana pie with custard.

We all ordered different things for breakfast but yet it all came out together and was hot. The gentleman serving was ever so friendly but not overbearing (just the right balance). English Breakfast was fab and you can also build you own. My sister was awkward and ordered something not on the menu but they happily put it together for her with no fuss.

Late Last year my son was in Poppy's with his childminder. Something must of happend (my son being silly or too loud) because since that day he went there he would walk past in fear saying, he doesn't like the man in there! Today, 18th June I went for lunch with my boy and a few friends. I didn't realise the extent of his fear of the chef (I found out he was the chef today)! My son caught eye of him and cried quietly in fear. He was hugging in to me and kept looking over his shoulder. The 3 of us had to comfort him and put menus up behind my son so he couldn't see "the man". The chef was then coming out front to serve food, my son in fear hid under the table and cried. I went under to ask him why he was so scared. He said "The man said he was going to cook me!" I believe the chef must of done this in the tone he may have used when telling my boy to keep the volume down or to tell him to stop messing around. One of my friends removed my son from the situation! Now as a mother I was concerned and felt so sad for my boy that a grown man had said this to the point he was physically scared. It's not right. The older bloke that served us asked me and my remaining friend why was he scared of the chef. I explained why. He then told the chef why. Now out of courtesy and being a local business I thought I would of got an apology. But no! Now I'm sorry but for a little boy of 3 at the time to be so scared by these words I think sorry of helped the situation. But now I will have to avoid such a nice cafe because of a man having a go at my boy and saying he was going to cook him! Now maybe the chef should stay where he should be and that's in the kitchen! My rating is for food only!

This is becoming a habit now, for the last 4 weeks on a Saturday morning we have ended up in Poppy's for an amazing home cooked breakfast, the produce they use are excellent, none of that cheap vast produced rubbish, always comes out piping hot, and the service is exceptional, always friendly always with a smile, always wiling to go that extra mile. We really must get there for the lunch menu sometime in the future too. Will be going back, probably next Saturday morning ;-)

Had the joy of having one of the best cooked breakfast's ever, here this morning. All cooked freshly while you waited, and all locally sourced fresh foods as well, the bacon and sausage were highly tasty, waiting time was a minimum too, and everything came to the table piping hot, really friendly staff too, well recommended, will go back to experience their lunch menu in the near future too.

Very good food. Had a breakfast here and I was completly full after it. A great choice on the menu and certainly worth a visit if you are nearby. It might be a bit hard to find as it is not near a street. This place is more hidden inside a shopping centre.

On holiday in Down St Mary, wet day, decided to visit Crediton. Found Poppy's by chance, it really is a hidden gem! I am really surprised it hasn't more reviews. Friendly staff, great homecooked food! Chose homemade lasagna - only criticism, no sliced tomato on top, but a lot of places don't. This was served with a large salad which had everything in it - omg. If you have never had salad with strawberries and sliced pear try it - pure heaven. Also came with coleslaw, french dressing and garlic bread - a real hearty plateful, and this was lunch! And a lovely hot pot of welcome tea. Other half chose scampi & chips with peas which he pronounced extremely good, and a cafetiere of coffee. The sachets of sauce, mayo etc was in a ramekin, unfortunately no tartare sauce, but no doubt if he had asked, he would have got it. It's also lovely and clean, nicely decorated and has a conservatory. Thoroughly enjoyed!

My friend & I go for breakfast on a monthly basis. Didn't really enjoy as the quality of the food was poor quality. Would prefer local sourced sausages rather than a value brand

You could easily miss this little gem set back from the high street so look out for the signs. The food is all homemade on the premises. The owners are friendly and helpful and the service from waitresses is spot on. Highly recommended so don't miss out.

We went here one Tuesday lunch time me my husband daughter and two grandchildren. We arrived and were shown into a conservatory part very nice. We were served with our drinks very quickly and were given the menus. The lady came and took.our order and a little while later the food arrived. Our meals were excellent couldn't fault them at all. All in all a lovely place and great staff. Will definitely return. Anne walker

Beautiful cafe and modern menu. I plumped for the Rarebit with poached egg with a pot of home made baked beans and a hot choc. Delicious! They make their own produce and the most crusty Sour dough bread. The outside of the building undervalues what’s inside. Well worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

I have eaten here several times and it has been okay but I have to say that a couple of days ago my friend and I had the same choice on the specials menu and it was dreadful. Three skewers of halloumi, tomatoes and aubergine on two pieces of ciabatta, covered with rocket. The aubergine was practically raw and inedible, and the bread had nothing on it, no olive oil or tomato pesto. There was little of it and hugely expensive at more than £13, with no price upon the board. I thought it was disgraceful and they are taking advantage of having always been popular.
