Beautiful cafe and modern menu. I plumped for the Rarebit with poached egg with a pot of home made baked beans and a hot choc. Delicious! They make their own produce and the most crusty Sour dough bread. The outside of the building undervalues what’s inside. Well worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Arrived at 11.45 am for lunch. We had not booked a table. The look on the proprietor's face was a curled lip and a look of distan! We certainly felt we had "put them out" We were offered a table outside but decided to go elsewhere...

Carpark right outside so location is very accessible. Lovely choice of breakfasts. I had the Devon rarebit with little mead gammon and poached egg with a side of cinnamon toast. The rarebit was cooked excellently with a tasty mature cheddar and gammon very tender and not at all chewy. Would definitely return. Quaint and cosy interior.

In a village of plentiful cafés, pubs and restaurants, this one is far and away my favourite. A nice little bike ride down back roads from Tiverton means that I can treat myself to a coffee and a bun of some sort. There's a little bit of secure bike parking if they don't have any other cyclists in. Always the warmest welcome from very pleasant staff; the cakes and food looks delicious (and I'm told they are). I'm not much of a one for cakes or lunch, but can vouch for the coffee and fruit scones, both of which are fabulous!

Caroline was amazing, she was ever so kind and made sure we got settled in straight away. The room was lovely, had all the essentials and we liked how they’d specified in the welcome book where they’d purchased some of the soft furnishings from other small businesses. Perfect location for a countryside get away, quiet but enough shops, pubs and restaurants to keep you occupied. The only thing we regretted was that we didn’t make time to have lunch here in the Bridge House because if the breakfast was anything to go by, I bet their lunches would be delicious! PS they are great if you have any dietary restrictions. Would highly recommend.

Taking a trip down memory lane, reliving a regular journey I’d make (1984-1986) to Barnstaple along the old A361 before the link road was open, whilst heading for a little holiday in North Devon. We were both so glad we stopped off here for lunch. The food was lovely, as was the interior and the very pleasant staff. Well worth a detour from your journey and definitely a refreshing destination if visiting Bampton.

We cannot recommend this lovely BnB highly enough. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious yet homely and fitted with everything we needed. Our towels were replaced and tea and coffee were replenished everyday. There is a beautiful garden out back where we enjoyed a cream tea that awaited us on arrival. Breakfast was exceptional. Our hosts were welcoming and very accommodating to our plans. Bampton is a lovely little village and a great location for exploring Devon. Parking was easy with the car park opposite with an honesty box. We would love to visit again.

We popped in here after going to the Heritage Centre. What a lovely place, a lovely atmosphere and friendly, welcoming staff. The menu is varied and different from the usual cafe fair but plenty to choose from. I had a small quiche, freshly made with the flakiest pastry with fresh salad and side order of wonderful rosemary salt fries, yummy. Hubby had the Devon Rarebit which was light and delicious (I had to try some) with a homemade date chutney. Followed by rhubarb abd orange cake which was just wonderful. The food is all home made and from what I could see all looked great. Good coffees and an excellent choice of soft and alcoholic drinks, the Avocet Beer was light and refreshing and the coffee excellent. Overall a great find and highly recommended.

We stayed here for a couple of nights on our way down to Cornwall to see friends. The B&B is great, and the owners really friendly and welcoming. The room was a good size with a shower and a view over the garden at the back. Breakfast was substantial and really well cooked using good, local ingredients. Bridge House is also a restaurant, but only at lunchtimes, and not every day. For evening food, there's a really good pub right across the road. It's a gastropub though, so not cheap and you'll need to book, even on a weekday. There's no car park, but there is a public car park opposite with plenty of spaces. Bampton is not far from Exmoor, but sufficiently off the beaten track not to be too busy or touristy. We'd definitely stay here again.

Coming from the South Molton direction it would be easy to miss the Bridge House – which we did, only seeing the small sign advertising afternoon tea when we were past it. Fortunately it was easy to U turn just afterwards and park nearby. And it was certainly worth the effort. We were served afternoon tea in the pretty sun trap of a garden at the back. All elements were excellent; lovely scones, a ton of tea and all for a ridiculously bargain price, particularly by Devon standards. We bought a slice of pistachio cake to eat when we got home and when we did we wished we had bought the whole cake – just fantastic. This is one of those understated family concerns, where service is a personal endeavour that really matters. We have already marked this down for a visit next time we venture to Devon from Stockport.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly but utterly professional. I’m aware that I’m waffling but I can’t help it! We had a pleasant if rather bland Sunday lunch. The welcome and service were very good, the decor clean and tidy, if a little lacking in style, and the food in quality and quantity acceptable. The only issue with the food was the blandness on the plate, pale lamb, pale carrots, pale cabbage and pale potatoes; it just didn't look very appetising but it all tasted fine. The puddings were excellent.Value at Bridge House is excellent. As a party of four we had 4 roast dinners, 4 deserts and a bottle of wine, the bill £66 !!Two negatives, the main course selection was limited (only 3 choices), and the seats rather basic and very hard, seat pads would be welcome. All in all a pleasant but not exceptional experience.

Whether I just popped in for coffee and a read of the papers or for my regular Sunday lunch there, I always felt relaxed. Excellent food, home made cakes plus menu choices for vegetarians makes the place highly popular with locals and visitors alike. Their experience in the hospitality industry clearly shows. In summer, the small garden provides a welcome respite especially for cyclists and walkers. Booking for Sunday lunch is wise but as I soon discovered; even if you prefer to eat as late as 3pm, this is no problem. I will be returning as often as my schedule will allow.

A lovely, intimate restaurant just up from the center of the town. The menu was small and obviously planned around what was in season, what was available and what was best.An extremely good wine accompaniment and charming hosts made this a meal I would wish to repeat.Highly recommended if you love properly cooked, honest food.

Interesting and very pleasant menu. Fully booked, mostly with locals who it would appear return regularly. Good house wine. I discovered a photograph on the wall which investigation showed the property was in my family in the early 1900's. No now so the review is not biased.

A welcome return to Bridge House with good friends. The 3 of us shared the fish & meat platters which were excellent. Cosy, good value and Caroline is such a welcoming and attentive host.

We've been here for dinner. The place is really nice and cozy, we loved it.The menu has only few choices so not really ideal if you're staying in the neighborhood for a week.Food is ok and well prepared.Service is quick, and precise.Would I go back? If i'm in the neighbor again might be.

The menu is short, but the food is excellent and freshly prepared, seasonal food with imagination and served in a very pleasant restaurant, well decorated and appointed. There is also and outdoor seating area in a pretty garden area. There is also a good selection of local beers as well as cocktails, including non-alcoholic ????

Do not go to this restaurant if you favour huge menus principally sourced from the freezer. But if you like fresh seasonal food cooked to perfection from the raw materials on the premises, and hence a small but varied menu, then this is the place for you. The food is delicious, and original, and is sourced locally wherever possible.Proprietor Caroline is front of house, and is very knowledgeable about the menu and welcoming whilst husband Nigel looks after the kitchen, making even things like chutneys from scratch.Inside the ten or so tables are laid out bistro style, with an eclectic assortment of furniture. There is also a very attractive garden area where you can enjoy meals and snacks in the open.

I went here for a late lunch with my sister, partner and three young children. The lady that served us was very welcoming and extremely accommodating of the children. The restaurant is very cosy and well laid out; the walled garden to the rear is beautiful! The food was fantastic, all homemade, well presented and delicious. I would highly recommend this establishment.

Lived up to expectations. The menu is short but to me that is a plus, everything is good and fresh and made with care. Husband said his pork chop was the best he'd had is years. My soup was full of flavour -leek, thyme and chickpea, good and chunky. A pud of ginger stewed rhubarb, meringue and clotted cream was simple but extremely well done, root ginger in the rhubarb, crisp and chewy meingue and little pieces of stem ginger on the cream - perfect.

Loved it all. Great coffee, wonderful biscuits, really lovely environment, and great welcome from staff. We played and sang a few songs on Sunday morning and it was a great little venue.

We dropped earlier this week for quick cuppa. We had heard that the owners were at the Avocet in Topsham before moving to Brampton. The quality of the welcome and the beverages provided were excellent. We didn't have any food but the snacks/cakes on show looked enticing. We will return.

Third visit, each time for a different reason, time and group of people, each time lovely welcome with efficient service. Menu slightly different to other local offerings but in no way negative. Tonight we both had the best scotch eggs we've ever had and the following 2 courses were as good. 3 courses plus 2 drinks £41, great value.

Have driven past many times thinking it was a gastro pub but it certainly isn't. Wonderful warm greeting from Caroline and lovely simple decor. Simple, unfussy menu offering 'proper good food'. We arrived about 2pm and could have anything off the menu - no 'breakfast stops at 12' here. The breakfast was scrumptious and an added bonus - black pudding comes as standard so no having to pay extra for it. Beautifully cooked and so tasty. Followed by included toast and marmalade - both tasted home-made. The bread, toasted was delicious and plenty of butter provided. If you are in Bampton you must visit. Two more pluses - proper cottage garden to sit out in and dogs are welcome during the day. Caroline is the perfect host.

Lovely little tea room/cafe. Stopped in there for a Devon cream tea.Chudleigh buns rather than scones, with clotted cream and strawberry jam and fresh hot tea took the chill off the Bank holiday afternoon.Lovely quiet clean tea room and fresh food served all day.

I have eaten here several times and it has been okay but I have to say that a couple of days ago my friend and I had the same choice on the specials menu and it was dreadful. Three skewers of halloumi, tomatoes and aubergine on two pieces of ciabatta, covered with rocket. The aubergine was practically raw and inedible, and the bread had nothing on it, no olive oil or tomato pesto. There was little of it and hugely expensive at more than £13, with no price upon the board. I thought it was disgraceful and they are taking advantage of having always been popular.
