The best restaurants serving Asian food in City Centre Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

This place simply does not disappoint. Whether it is the speedy and friendly service or the beautifully laid out food that fulfills all your cravings, you must visit this place. There are a lot of vegan restaurants that boast being great, yet they lack the key ingredient: simply great food, without anything extra. For a vegan restaurant, I look for comforting flavours that deliver and make me and my tummy happy. I have finally found a place I can openly recommend to everyone. Reasonable prices, great services, friendly atmosphere and food you can actually be happy with. I need to go back here, asap. You should too.

I have never given a 1 star before, and to their credit the restaurant gave me full refund of the meal, so gets 2 stars to be fair. But, having booked a table for 20.15 to specially celebrate my daughter's 21st , we had to wait 20 minutes to get my table, and a further one hour to get our food. The icing on the cake was seated next to about 30 people drunkenly singing along with an amplified song track. Wtf ?! It's not about the money - you only get one chance to celebrate certain things. Night ruined.

Meal for 2 with starters and mains came in at less than £80. The dishes were all really tasty and in good portions. The menu is quite small so don’t expect masses of choice, just really good food. Get a seat in the back room, it’s more intimate and (importantly in winter) much warmer than up front.

Had the worst experience. Their staff has no manners or any training in hospitality. They are rude and don’t know how to treat customers. Don’t go there. There is a much better restaurant just around the corner called Kabuli kitchen which is more clean and has really nice staff and food is good too . Avoid these rude and ill mannered people if you don’t want to ruin your day!!!!!

Came to Hakataya for the Sushi making class with Tang! He was so kind and informative as we learned to make our own maki rolls. The whole process was explained, giving us details for where to source ingredients, how to cook the rice and how to roll the sushi properly. Also, it tasted AMAZING. Most importantly, we really feel we’d be able to make maki on our own now at home — though never as quickly and expertly as Tang. Would definitely recommend!

Tasty food, good choice of drinks, excellent service and price.

The food wasn't as good as the reviews suggested, and many of the dishes lacked flavour and were too sweet. In our group we ordered tom yum which tasted sub par, the green curry, which was too sweet but average, I order the pad thai and that was way too sweet and not very flavourful, unfortunately the worst pad thai I've had. The staff seemed ok though, but sadly the food wasn't to our expectation.

La mejor comida tailandesa que hemos probado. Están ocupados por una razón, un montón de cabos y comer en los clientes. Buscamos comida tailandesa dondequiera que viajemos y esto era lo mejor todavía (aunque no he estado en Tailandia)

Everything was wonderful until we received the bill and the ten percent service charge was automatically added to the bill. When asked, that was the tip, which we could have happily declined if we had known what it was. When paying by card, we immediately removed the device. But I also saw that we should have used the opportunity here to give XYZ tip. This means that we Germans, who like to give ten percent tips for good service, would have ended up giving twenty percent because we would have been ripped off without being informed. We think that's a shame in such a great, vegan restaurant. This has never happened to us at any other pub in Scotland, where everyone was always nice and fair and we were happy to tip. But we think it's a shame to be ripped off like that.

I have been here several times with my partner as the food is superb. Great atmosphere and good staff. The only thing that let's it down slightly is the wait for a drink. Our past 2 visits our food arrived before our first round of drinks. If the bar staff were to work half as fast as the kitchen, there would be no stopping this place

Without doubt the best place for sushi and Japanese dining in Edinburgh. Criminally underrated.

Had the lunchtime menu. My wife had lemon chicken - yuk - the sauce did not smell of lemon and was watery, and the chicken was iffy. We had gluten free rice due to a celiac being in our company. Wrong move. It was bland. The beef with green peppers and black bean sauce was good.
