Best place to hangout with friends, our team had good moments as we celebrate birthday their , They surprise us with the birthday cake that was kind gesture from them especially Ms Keshu . Their Food is really authentic , Nepali Momo is yummy. We went their thrice in 4 days span so it was our go to place when we starve. If u are near Edinburgh city then u can give a shot. Try their drinks , Nepali tea after food which reminded me of Nepal. I would recommend everyone.

The best Nepalese cuisine we have had in Edinburgh! I ordered the Chicken Chowmein, reminded of my favourite Nepalese restaurant in Delhi, took me back on a nostalgic trip. Highly recommended!! You won't be disappointed!! Great food at a reasonable price.

Not a bad spot to get some decent food. Lamb Rogan Josh wasn’t bad, Mo Mo was ok, and the garlic naan wasn’t bad either.

Namaste Kathmandu is one of the best in edinburgh. Everytime I come to this city, this is the only restaurant that I want to eat at. The food is amazing, the staff is great. Definitely give this one a try.

Very underrated restaurant near National Museum of Scotland! We were looking for some warm food to fill our tummies on a cold and windy day in December and this place was quiet, spacious, and exceeded our expectations. We ordered a Chicken Thali set and Chicken Korma curry (a cashew based curry), and both tasted like a very hearty and welcome hug.

I’d fight someone for the last bite of their food here. No shame. Also impeccable service 10/10 would recommend.

Updated Review Following a Dishonest Reply: *Avoid this place if you value honesty, respect, and genuine hospitality.* We had a profoundly disappointing experience at Namaste Kathmandu Edinburgh, and we feel compelled to update our review in light of their reply, which is filled with falsehoods and baseless accusations. This restaurant not only failed in delivering decent service but has now stooped to making up stories in an attempt to cover up their appalling behaviour. First and foremost, we are vegetarians and would never order a Chicken Thali or any non-vegetarian dish. Their claim that we insisted on sharing one is an outright lie. Additionally, no one in our group requested that a pint of beer be divided into four glasses. Only one person in our group wanted a beer, and that was all we intended to order initially. These fabricated stories are not only insulting but also an example of their lack of professionalism. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, and if they had over 40 reservations as claimed, they should not have seated us at all. Instead, they let us in and immediately started enforcing their unreasonable policy of a minimum £20 food order at first place. They even refused to take our drink orders until we agreed to their excessive demands. This level of coercion and disrespect is unacceptable and speaks volumes about their attitude towards customers. Their accusations of disruptive behaviour and “bullying” their staff are completely baseless and designed to distract from their own shortcomings. We did nothing of the sort. Instead, we experienced rude and dismissive behaviour from their staff, who lacked any semblance of hospitality or customer service. The atmosphere was cold, unwelcoming, and far from what you’d expect in a professional dining establishment. We take this incident seriously and have already reported the matter to Google, as we believe it is important to expose such dishonest practices. As genuine reviewers who contribute to enhancing service standards on Google, we cannot stand by while a restaurant spreads false information to justify its poor service. I strongly urge others to avoid this place if you value honesty, respect, and a pleasant dining experience. Namaste Kathmandu Edinburgh has not only shown they are incapable of providing good service but has also proven themselves to be untrustworthy in how they handle criticism. Worst Restaurant in Edinburgh - Please Avoid at All Costs. This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Edinburgh. The food was tasteless, lacking any authentic Indian or Nepalese flavours, and the service was shockingly bad. The staff were rude and dismissive, creating a hostile atmosphere that ruined the evening. It’s hard to believe this place is even open. Avoid at all costs!

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and friendly staff! We had an entree of lamb soup and veggie samosa. The mains of vegetable vindaloo and prawn in papaya with rice and potato naan. I personally love lamb soup the most, tender meat and tasty soup! The main is good in size too and the papaya was fresh and sweet! The gentleman who seated us and the lady who worked the table were both lovely and attentive. Perfect place for comfort hot food that makes your tummy happy!

Delicious food and great service, the staff were very nice and helpful with my allergies. The only thing I would suggest was the music, maybe an Indian Nepali music would go better with the environment.

Desde el momento en que entramos, nos recibieron con un refrescante vaso de agua, un toque reflexivo que muchos otros restaurantes carecen. Lo más destacado de nuestra visita fueron sin duda las momos. Eran excepcionales, perfectamente cocidas al vapor, con un delicioso relleno salado. El servicio fue excepcional. Nuestro servidor fue atento y nos guió a través del menú con grandes recomendaciones. Se sentía como un ambiente cálido y acogedor donde podíamos relajarnos y disfrutar de nuestra comida juntos. El precio era razonable para la calidad y el tamaño de las porciones que recibimos. Pedimos lo suficiente para los dos y aún nos quedaban sobras para llevar a casa, ¡sin duda una victoria!

Excellent!!! We are from the Dallas in the US and have alot of Indian spots, this outdid all the Indian places that we’ve tried. Great aloo gobi cook perfectly. Mother said her lam combs were cooked perfectly and not chewy at all! Highly recommend!

Very expensive. Took lot of time to deliver the food . They serve very small portions for the rate.

Ordered take away from this restaurant , ordered some chicken Momo’s, fried momo and fish pakoras. Momo’s were average portions were very small, disappointed when we saw fish pakoras portion ( 3 pieces) and cost £6.

We came in front m the street after seeing a good review online and got a table easily. We had really lovely food here and good service. Food was adjusted to spicy ness that we asked for.

I wanted to dine in but because I was visiting so asked for takeaway as I was going to have a long drive. I asked the lady for fried momo not steamed but ended up getting steamed momo. I was very disappointed and the chicken momo had no flavor at all. The vegetable momo were better but the tomato chutney tasted very bland. I don't think I would recommend coming here as you are not getting your money's worth. it is over priced as well.

Jolly decent grub to be had here. The tandoori chicken was superb - falling off the bone. Light and more-ish breads. Tasty pakora, even if the portion size was small. Well-presented curries with precise flavours. Friendly staff and reasonable value for money, considering the location. Drab dining room. Very tatty stair carpet en route to lavatories.

Good service, great food and wine. We visited early evening in the middle of the Edinburgh Fringe and had a lovely meal. Great vegetarian options too. Busy family atmosphere and reasonable prices.

As well as the staples - and what you’d expect from the menu - there are some great additions - Momo dumplings, a satay and other Nepalese delights For the mains - the lamb dishes were stand out and the breads - roti and Naan - light and so fresh Portions are huge so don’t over order Sides of tarka dhal and sag aloo were huge and we reluctantly had to leave some behind Great range of beers - try the Nepalese one - Delish. Cobra also on draught Great atmosphere and great location if you are up for the Fringe

Drinks were forgotten, food was forgotten and when it did arrive after an hour it was really average. Needed a search party for the chicken in my Tikka. The staff were inattentive and took ages to clear plates. Basically they couldn’t have cared less. Not at all busy so no excuses. Notice they only respond to good reviews.

Ordered two different curries which tasted almost identical despite having very different descriptions. Tasted very watered down as well which was a shame as there were hints of good flavours, but obviously trying to make the curries stretch over many orders on busy nights. Slow service and repeated questions for the same items, so not worth the above average cost

Visited Namaste Kathmandu in Edinburgh on a Tuesday evening during the fringe. Was able to get a table straight away and the service was brilliant. Quick and friendly. The food was good, and I would return here again when visiting Edinburgh

I am visiting Edinburgh, I tried this restaurant for lunch, the service starts at 12, and we entered around same time with few other customers, after giving our order around 12:05, there was a very very long wait, there seems to be only one or two waiters. we ordered veg samosa, Lamp Thali, Mongo Lassi, Veg Rice, Cheese Naan, Paneer Makhani etc. Portions sizes were large for Thali, rice and bread, however the accompaniment gravy portion size was not enough for rice alone, lamb curry taste was good. Veg rice was too bland not spicy, not tasty at all, Samosa was good, lassi was good as well. Ambience was good and some light music, but this is not the place if you are planning to visit other attractions. the food will be heavy, and longer wait time.

Place deserves more than a 4.3 rating. Just had dinner here and it was delish👍🤤

I'm really bored by so many Indian restaurants which have almost exactly the same menu, and I needed a change. Namaste Kathmandu has a more interesting menu, has a really good selection for vegetarians, their prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. The spicing of all the dishes I ordered was satisfyingly complex, and nothing was oily. Several of the dishes I ordered seemed to have the same components and taste, and everything had a slightly sweet tinge. Several of the dishes I ordered were outstanding: the mixed beans soup was unusual and refreshing; the tarka dhal was the best I've ever eaten, and the kulcha - I chose the onion version - is utter heaven. I would have given my review 4 1/2 stars if I could have. I will definitely be ordering from them again. I just did order from them again, this time adding their paneer shashlik: I'm not a huge paneer fan, but this sounded interesting, and I really liked it, and will be ordering it again. Again, the tarka dal was utterly stunning.

Really nice food if you are in the area. The meals we ordered were tasty and slightly spicy (fine for a non Indian eater;) ). Service was ok, but not the best I have seen such as the atmosphere, but still very good food.

I got a table straight away in the evening and was impressed by the food! Very tasty Nepali-Indian cuisine. I found it a shame that side dishes such as rice or naan are not included in the price of a main course. I would raise the prices of the main course and list the side dish included. The staff was really friendly and very attentive! When I'm back in the city, I would like to try the thalis here again.

Indian food is better than many indian restaurants in the UK. Service with happy faces, nice ambience, food is rooted, authentic.

Sooo lovely! Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our starters and mains. We had Nepalese starters Vegetable 'Momo' which are dumplings. We both had a mix of steamed and fried ones and they were tasty. The curries were lovely and spicy, helped us being all warm and cosy. And it's really good that this place has plenty of vegetarian dish choices as well.😃

A must visit restaurant. We had a chicken thali and one of the lunch specials chicken curry + rice. The server was very helpful with great recommendations! Prices are affordable and worth it. Definitely recommend lunch here. The setting and decor reminds me of India. Food was of great quality and quantity.

Good food at a reasonable price. Of course, I found the beer expensive (a pint of Cobra for €6.5). The bread is great. The correct service and location. The photo is of a Mutton Thali, which I found a bit bland. Those in the group who ordered them said that the dumplings were very good (steamed, not fried). Waited over two hours for our order. I demand a refund and compensation. Not the restaurants fault - phoned them 4 times to chase the order and it was lack of couriers. Completely unacceptable.

The menu was good especially the variety of momos. Anjou organised the table for a large group (and our black Labrador) and they were all very welcoming.
