The food here is wonderful. I recommend the beef bulgolgi bimbimbap (hot), I literally had to come back for it two days in a row. All the ingredients are so fresh and flavorful. Beyond that, the ambiance is cozy and lovely.

Halal Korean food in Edinburgh! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but cosy. The service was great - casual and efficient. The prices itself were alright, but slightly on the steeper side imo. We ordered the fried chicken and bibimbap. Whilst the fried chicken batter and fry was very well done and crispy, the honey and soy sauce had an overpowering honey taste. The bibimbap though was deliciousssss - huge portions, and very well made. Highly recommended :))

The pork kimchi stew was so delicious that I cried while eating it… The best choice for a one-month trip to Europe... The server was really friendly and brought me more tissues because I was sweating profusely while eating. Soak a spoonful of rice in the hot stew broth and make it… The owner is also very kind!! Dont come here if you have any allergies or there are more than 6 people in your party, because you will not be welcomed by the owner. In fact, regardless of whether your child is 2 years old and has multiple allergies, you will be told you can't bring your own food!

Popped into this place on my walk into the city centre. What a nice surprise. It's not a fancy place, but it served up a flavourful Korean meal. I ordered the seafood stew with rice, soondubu jjigae. It was great. It's really service and the kitchen is efficient in getting your meal quickly. Food is served piping hot. Prices are reasonable too.

Really hyped and crowded at the time I visited. Should be as early as the restaurant is open so you don't need to queue for too long! NO KIMBAP, unfortunately. Overall the food was tasty, but a bit salty for me, the waitress was nice and helpful. Defo will visit again.

We have been regular and loyal customers of on bap for at least 5 years but even though this place does great food, the management is a complete and utter disgrace. We wanted to book a table for 9 people and the management said no because they said it would be too hard for the chef to cope with cooking for 9 orders?, yet this place regularly gets packed out as soon as it opens so what difference does it make? It's not like this place can seat that many people anyway(the max capacity is 15 or so)!. We even offered to sit separately and this was still not acceptable. It was only until we actually told them that one group of people would order their food first and the other group after 10 mins time that they reluctantly acceptable. What sort of business has this type of ridiculous and idiotic policy? On a separate note, this place states that no outside food or drinks are to be consumed on the premises which is understandable however, there must be exceptions to this rule for example if a child have multiple severe allergies which my little one has (wheat, milk, eggs and nuts)!. Yet again, this was not taken seriously by management. Perhaps the lack of understanding was due to the language barrier due but i highly doubt it!

Pretty basic place. Almost like you are in a canteen. Don't let that put you off they have a small menu so it's pretty quick to get your food and is very fresh. In the time we were there the place filled to capacity quickly and there were people waiting by the time we left.

Best kimchi and vegetablian option.

This is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. Food is always so fresh and wholesome. The Korean stews are always so light but so filling. The quality of ingredients is great.. The prices are ok for what you get. Service is super quick and friendly. Vibe in here is relaxed. Sit with your book no problems. Note they shut at 830pm and have strange opening hours.

Have been dining here for 5 years straight. Don’t understand why they keep taking popular and tasty dishes out of the menu. No bibimbap anymore now. Even the fried chicken now uses random cheap pieces instead of proper chicken wings like in 2019. It is indeed a shame.

I visited On Bap for the first time this weekend and really enjoyed it. Service was quick and the food was really nice. Good value and enjoyable drinks. Will definitely be returning.

They did not allow my 3 year to eat her own food even though I told them she has severe allergies and needs to carry a epi pen. I even took her epi pen out and they still said NO! We spent over £100 on the meal there. When they said no my 3 year old cannot eat here, we decided to walk out as they where not unstandable at all. They told us we cannot walk out as the food we ordered was ready. How can they expect a 3 year old to starve and watch us eat and get punished for all the allergies she has! They rushed us and was so rude I would never go back again. The young waitresses thought it was funny and was laughing behind the counter. The lady boss was not considerate at all for a 3 year old until we threatened to walk out. Honestly you have zero customer skills, rude and so unfriendly. I would never ever recommend to anyone ever again!

We had seafood&onion pancake, and sweet chili chicken, which are all tasty! Authentic Korean food~ As an asian, I've tried many korean restaurants, this one leaves me very good impression, and I'll definitely come back.

We had pork Kimchi jigae and Korean fried chicken with sweet chili sauce. They don’t have a sauce without “sweet” and it wasn’t particularly spicy…bummer. We still enjoyed it. Jigae was good. Would have liked more kimchi in it. They do not serve all the small side dishes like in traditional Korean homes/restaurants so in good conscience I cannot give 5 stars. I will go back there to try other dishes.

On Bap is a lovely Korean dine place where you can find basic traditional Korean dishes. It's a small place with 6 square tables(for 2 or 3 people max) and window seats for max 3 people. I saw they open this place and I was desperate to visit and try their cooking. Being honest the food was good but I've tasted better in a Korean restaurant in London and Dublin. I guess I need to visit and try again... it could be the case that they still new business and that probably they are still figuring out details for the food and service. We arrived 45 min before closing time and it was the usual 20min waiting for the food to arrive. The presentation was normal for Korean dishes. The tables, the cutlery and cups where clean. They offer water for self-service and they have traditional Korean drinks. I'm surprise they're only open few hours per day and they had a couple of people trying to come in after closing time. In general I had a lovely time and I ate well. Thank you for the food.

Nice food, decent portion sizes, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Also the place was packed with Asian people which is always a good sign for an Asian food place!

Second time trying Korean food, in my opinion it was good. The sweet chill fried chicken with nuts on top was delicious and definitely would get it again (3/5). The katsu curry was well presented and tasted delicious (4/5). The only issue was that we waited around 20 to 30 minutes to get a table.

Finally I found authentic flavor Korean restaurant. I never ever seen 낙지 in the UK! I didn’t expect much, it was really impressive. I thought i was in Korea. The amount of food is great and delicious. However, don’t understand payment rule. Only weekend lunch= Cash only………?

I don’t know how many times I’ve been here and also have some take away! Their foods are so tasty! It’s not over priced compare to what you get (quality and portion)! I always think that you don’t need to go to fancy restaurants to have amazing foods you just know where to go and this is the place I recommend for Korean in Edinburgh!!!!!!!!!

IF YOU WANT HALAAL KOREAN FOOD - THIS IS IT! It is a small cosy eatery with fast-paced informal dining. The chicken is halaal and the lady informed us they do cook each sauce separately in a different pan. Feel free to inquire on your own as they are there to answer whatever questions you may have. I cannot recommend the place enough, the food is amazing. This is not your upscale 5-star restaurant with several waiters and table reservation options which is exactly what adds to its authenticity and charm.

Authentic delicious Korean cuisine that you can't find elsewhere in Edinburgh. Also, they are using stone pots for some of their dishes and soups, which keep the food hot until you finish it. Must try in Edinburgh!

We thought it was fab. It looks a bit rough ans ready but was delicious and authentic.

First time visit and the food was so tasty. The menu is limited to certain dishes but this reflects to the effort they put to prepare them. Easily a five star.

Great food. The fried chicken was very good, as was the bibimbap although I personally would have preferred the egg less cooked, the dumplings were also great.

Dolsot Bibimbap was OK. Although minus one star because it could have come with side dishes. Didn't even come with kimchi; had to order that separate.

We did for a take-away and it was perfect :) Nakjideopbap would be spicy for non-Koreans. Dakganjeong (sweet chilli chicken) was so great. I missed South Korean food but you saved us! Thank you!

Ordered takeaway from this place recently and i must say that everything was absolutely amazing, specially the honey & soya and sweet chilli fried chicken was brilliant. On top of that they gave us complimentary choco pie and sweet potato crisps. Thank you for the great meal, i really enjoyed it.

If I could I wouldn’t even give one star! First of all the staff have no manners and no so called restaurant service whatsoever ! They are just little girls who have no grown up yet. Arrived and asked for a table of 4 - in which there was a table of 2 free and next to it was 1 customer almost finishing and leaving . Girl asked me to wait 10-15 mins to allow the customer to finished to leave and she put the table together for me. 10 mins later - 2 customers walked in and the other stupid girl gave that table of 2 to these 2 customers and the girl who advised me to wait came and told me there’s no table for u and they do not know how long we have to wait ! I saw the girl who served me speak with the other server who served the 2 girls the table and she just had some attitude and shrugged her shoulders and didn’t give a f*** look - if you can’t deal with things in a professional manner please do not work is a customer based environment. I mean how rude is that ??? Appalling customer service ! Place was small ! And made your clothes stink of oil because there is no ventilation! Wonder if this place even have hot food consent ! Never go back again ! Customer service speaks all and sadly you have none at all !

The staff are friendly. Food is so good. It is my favorite Korean restaurant in Edinburgh. It also has options of halal chicken. The only problem is the limited number of tables.

Onbap is great value if you eat in - but don't bother with takeaway. On average, 40 min wait for a takeaway, after they take your money. This has happened on quite a few occasions. I get that they're super busy in here, the place is always packed, but they either need to prioritise takeaway patrons or don't bother selling takeaway at all.

Good price and great food! Highly recommend!

Easily the best Korean restaurant in old town!

Good, value for money Korean food. Many thumbs up for the Korean fried chicken! Tried both the honey soy and sweet chilli flavour, preferred the honey soy one!

The food was really delicious!! Though the octopus was a bit too spicy for me. I particularly like the sweet chilli chicken wings, which is probably the best I ever had in Edinburgh.

Restaurant is always busy and popular with students. The staff are smiley and friendly. Their Korean fried chicken is the best I've tried in Edinburgh- not greasy or too fatty. Gimbap is another good option. These options can also make good takeaway/lunchtime options.

We were the only “white” people here - all asian looking which made us believe the place had to be good. And so it was. My daughter had been keen on having a topokki since we tried it on a korean hotel in Thailand and finally we found a place that had it. Although it had no cheese on the top (do not know if that was a tourist attraction in Thailand) the taste was great. Moderat spicey which made us warm! Also had nice dumplings. Kind and fast service. They only accept cash. Would like to return

The exterior of this place looks as though the food would be dire. But when I went in, the food they were cooking smelled really appetising. I was very hungry, I like Korean food, and if the food wasn't good, I wouldn't come back. There were lots of vegetarian/vegan options, and I selected the kimchi pancake, the gimbap with tofu, and the spring rolls, all to take away. My order was taken by a friendly, smiley young woman, who told me my food would be ready in 5 - 10 minutes, and it was. The spring rolls were deliciously crispy and ungreasy, with a tasty filling, the gimbap looked and tasted amazing, and the kimchi pancake was actually 3 pancakes, nicely crisp on the edge, and full of scallions and kimchi. All three were delicious, among the best I've eaten. I'm looking forward to going back.

Vi åt lunch här och man fick verkligen mycket mat för pengarna. Bra smaker och snabb personal. Fullt med folk så det var verkligen populärt.
