Very good food and inside then restaurant it's cosy and the waiters are kind and get a little free chocolate as you leave(some of the best food I have ever tasted). :)

Fuimos aquí para una comida familiar para 7 de nosotros antes de un espectáculo en el ayuntamiento local para ver karen dunbar , tan pronto como toda la familia llegó nos empujaron 2 grandes platos de poppadoms y chutney que al chequear factura nos costó 8 . ¡50 por cada bandeja! Pensamos que eran gratis y no nos preguntaron si los queríamos, los entrantes llegaron todos bien y luego una hora de espera para el plato principal! El restaurante estaba lleno, pero casi nada de personal y además de ver para ir a comer pedidos 😕 el precio de una botella de cobra era caro en £ 7 la botella que cuesta 3 libras a lo sumo en las tiendas total de factura era £ 276 para 7 de nosotros y pensó que esto era ridículo 😳 no volveremos allí con prisa, incluso la comida era agradable, pero caro

Solo pedí comida para llevar, tuvimos un curry de rogan Josh. Pedí una salsa extra de rogan Josh, pero no creo que eso sea lo que conseguí. Fue como una salsa de tomate suave.

Found this gem quite by accident a few months ago, we've been three times for a meal and had one takeaway since. Absolutely delicious food, completely authentic, no over-sugared pastes used here!! Everything is cooked fresh to order. (The North Indian Chilli Garlic Chicken is second to none btw). The staff are very attentive but without hovering, and so friendly and welcoming. Menu prices reasonable as the quality of the food is very high. Also, importantly for us, family friendly. Looking very much forward to returning soon. I couldn't recommend more highly.

Very friendly staff, some gluten free items on menu but would be useful if they were marked so I didn't have to ask. Delicious biryani and fantastic service.

The food was very nice and delicious, it filled me up very much. The service was incredible and I was treated with most respect. The waiting time was not too long and if I were to come to an Indian restaurant again I would definitely come back to Bonoful restaurant.

Bonoful nunca nos ha decepcionado, nos llevamos regularmente y nos sentamos de vez en cuando - el servicio siempre ha sido fantástico y la comida es deliciosa y fresca! Gran lugar para ir después de una visita a la costa de Edimburgo - si no eres de Edimburgo y estás aquí para el festival, vale la pena el viaje para alejarse de la ciudad y disfrutar de algo de auténtica cocina india!

Very disappointing takeaway, onion bhajis were actually the worst I've ever had, soft, salty, overspiced patties- horrible. Garlic chilli lamb was also a bit salty and just 'okay' no depth of flavour at all, whole green chillis in there had no bite or even heat to them. Nothing delicious about it at all. Chapatti okay, Naan okay. Expensive and honestly pretty rubbish. I will never order from them again.

Had a fabulous meal, tried different dishes which we were both very pleased with, peshwari was delicious im not always a fan of this bread but im all for it at Bonoful. Great atmosphere, service excellent, definitely will be back. If not sure give it a try, sure you won't be disappointed.

Bonoful offers exceptional quality of food. The menu provides both individual dishes and classic curries, prepared by a knowledgeable chef in a high class setting. The staff are friendly and attentive. I could not recommend this restaurant more. For curry lovers, you cannot do better than Bonoful.

This is unequivocally a three star experience. The food was pretty good, sides better than curries. Service was as weird as possible. They tried to upsell us on things we didn’t want and everything was surprisingly slow.

Delicious Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine including vegetarian dishes and a very kind service. Some dals might be spicy for Europeans, so be careful. Also it is located near to the beach. Greetings from Germany

Hmmm, always wondered about Bonoful, and am unlikely to have another go now. Just tried pakora (vege and haggis) to take out as a snack, and for sure I was disappointed. It always looks so quiet too, no idea how it can turn a profit.

Really delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. I've eaten here twice in the past month and it was equally wonderful. The staff are friendly and attentive and you don't feel rushed out like a lot of places.

The ultimate BEST Indian food ever! What a gem in the middle of Portobello. The staff are one of the kindest you can ever wish for, professional & smiley. The restaurant is lovely, warm and classy. The environment spotless. The food is delicious, full of flavour and melt in the mouth. The fish curry, chicken shazlic, naaan breads and home made deserts were outstanding! Thank you chef! The food is absolutely delectable! You pretty much can't make a wrong choice because everything on the menu is just wonderful. The restaurant itself is relatively small and cozy which means it's never too loud so it an ideal environment for an intimate meal out. And the staff are always perfectly attentive and pleasant!

Great food, but that's three times in a row the food had been more than 45 minutes later than the estimate in being delivered. If I'd known the true delivery time, would have collected, but as it is any benefit of the doubt or goodwill has evaporated. Will not be ordering again.

I had the tandoori mixed grill, which was tasty, but for £21 it is remarkably expensive. Despite being advertised as coming with salad, no salad was provided. It also does not come with rice nor naan, you have to pay extra, which is really bad. The food tasted good, lots of onions which were charred and tasty. Meat was one prawn, one kofta, a very skinny chicken drumstick/though, and a couple of pieces of chicken/lamb shish. I ordered a naan which was nice, thin and crispy rather than thick and fluffy. Overall a tasty meal but incredibly expensive for what was provided.

It's a bangladeshi restaurant in edinburgh served us delicious foods but the portion of each servings doesn't match with Asian culture .. another thing is , it only opens at 4 pm

Been going to Bonoful since it 1st opened and in my opinion it’s the best in Edinburgh, staff are amazing and very welcoming, food is fresh and tastes fantastic, never had a bad experience always a great one. Lovely atmosphere, spotlessly clean. Xmas day menu is amazing and so different. Give it a go you won’t be disappointed.
