Paradise Palms in Edinburgh, City of

Came here on 3rd January 2025 and was pleased to find out, this was the first day of a new menu. Tried all the sharing plates and was very impressed! I don't know how chips could blow me away but they did. The BBQ 'Ribs' were great, a welcome spin compared to other vegan offerings. The Califlower bites were delish, some of the best I've eaten. I also LOVED my 0 alcohol vegan pina colada. I might have to pop in for more of these....talk about addictive! As a vegan it was nice to see that only one dish was not vegan/no vegan option. And vegan ranch! Where else can I get that. Staff very welcoming. The burger options did intrigue me, I'll have to come back to try ;)

My only tip: it gets busy, so patience is key, but trust me, it’s worth the wait. Highly recommend for a night out or even just a casual meal with friends. Paradise Palms lives up to its name—it’s a true slice of tropical paradise in the heart of Edinburgh!

I have enjoyed every meal I have had

Amazing food. I need the recipe for the corn ribs and the burger was THE BEST VEGAN BURGER I have eaten in a while. The staff were friendly and thanks to one of the staff’s recommendation, we continued our night with an amazing venue. I'd be a regular if I were living in Edinburgh.

We booked 3 months (!!!) in advance just to find out it was closed when we arrived. We get that it is Christmas, but why not mark that on your site or call/mail me when you saw you had a reservation on that date? Awful.

We were really disappointed when we arrived at Paradise Palms for a Christmas day meal with our two children which we booked a week ago and received confirmation of our booking, only to find that it was closed. We are on holiday and had looked online for something suitable for all of us and loved the look of this restaurant, though I can't comment on the food or restaurant service, I can say that whoever made this mess up caused real upset for us and our kids, what was meant to be a lovely evening celebrating Christmas ended up with us walking around, cold, trying to find somewhere else with no success, and in the end we got takeaway in our room.

Lovely place, staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, food was great, drinks are great, it's a safe space, and the vibes are great. couldn't recommend it more!

Mixed feelings about this. Normally love this place which is excellent value vegan food with good service. However while the food was still very high quality it was only luke warm when it was served, and the temperature in the restaurant near the front was a little on the cold side. I will give it benefit of the doubt, and come back again, but wasn't ideal on a wintery cold night.

Buen servicio! ¡Todo lo demás era normal! Hamburguesa con patatas fritas estaba 'bien' y nada que escribir en casa. No pude hacerme un café con leche porque no tienen el equipo apropiado, y solo un artículo en el menú de pudín a las 14. 00 . También me parece extraño que el servidor nos dijo que todo en el menú era vegano, pero ofrecen queso lácteo y leche si se solicita. ¿Por qué? No es necesario y muy extraño. El servidor era agradable y servicial. No me apresuraré a regresar.

The best place I have been to in Edinburgh, the waitresses were very friendly, they bought us two pints because we had to wait a few minutes before having a free table. The waitress also recommended places to go at night, writing them down on a piece of paper and playing each type of music they play in the place.

(My review 11 months ago 5 star) Best veggie / vegan food ever. The Mac and cheese is a must! Great vibes, friendly staff and good choice of drinks. Will be back next time I'm in Edinburgh My review now (3 star for food) Not sure what has happened in 11 months, but the difference in menu choices and quality has gone down hill. Was sad to come again and be disappointed by the options and quality when I had such an amazing experience last time :(

We had a fantastic meal with great service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious meal, an afternoon beverage, or a late night hang.

I came to Scotland for my boyfriend's memorial, who sadly took his own life in August. The following evening I went to concert and had a fabulous time. Now, where I went wrong as I walked into this lovely establishment (and I'm not being sarcastic it is quite nice), I jokingly said "sorry for being drunk at a bar" and laughed. A bit of Icelandic humour. Now I promise I did not slur my words or anything like that, but the bartenders explained that as I had said that they couldn't serve me. Fair enough. They gave me a glass of water, which I drank. Then I was told I'd need another glass of water. I wasn't sure how long I'd have to wait to get served so we left after that. The reason for my low score is the lack of empathy and awareness of the staff.

The best vegan food I’ve ever eaten 🫶🏼

This place used to be a hidden gem for many locals alike. Unfortunately not anymore. It went from having friendly staff who were locals you’d bump into at the club to pretentious uni students who only cater kindly to those who spoke like them. It doesn’t help either that the toilets are not accessible. Surely by now you’d attend to install an accessible toilet for those who can’t go down steps or stairs or need the space? Prices have also incredibly gone up meanwhile food portions are shrinking.

Updating my review for my most recent experience here. I will always down rate any place that automatically adds a tip to the bill especially in a group of 2 people, in the UK! We aren't in America and tipping is not compulsory here. I will always tip an amount of my own choosing if the food and service is good. But to add it to the bill without a choice is unacceptable

Super fun atmosphere. Great outdoor patio that has retractable awnings for when it starts to rain. DELICIOUS food!

A creative and friendly restaurant. The staff are the most friendly, and the food is great and creative. For vegetarian soil food, which can be difficult. They have done great!

Vegan burgers and buffalo wings were over the top. Service also great and pub quiz great bonus! To make a reservation in advance is highly recommend

The oyster burger is £14.5 and the mushrooms had 0 crunch. My server told me addl sauces were £1.5 so I ordered a ranch. He came back with the card reader. Then he came back with the ranch 10 mins later. Why not bring at the same time… Then someone else was offered ketchup with their burger, which is free. He never offered any to me. Then they brought him like 2 ml of ketchup lol. Ketchup for ants. I used to really rate this place for vegan food but I’d say it’s winning the race to the bottom. Oh and because we were seated on the stage and not the main dining area they would only serve us options from a reduced menu…. See ya never.

To be honest, the place has gone downhill compared to what it was. Used to be one of my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh, but felt really average today.

This was hands down the best meal I had while I was visiting Edinburgh. I had the Philly Cheese steak loaded fries and it was so yummy! I took my meat eater of a partner and they had the vegan chipotle mac and cheese and agreed it was their best meal of the holiday also! Go there, you won't be disappointed!

This is one of my favourite places for food in Edinburgh! The service is always amazing and they are fantastic regarding allergens. The price for the food is absolutely reasonable, especially considering how much Edinburgh can be. The cocktails are awesome and they have lots on the menu that are lovely and unique! I would definitely recommend people give this place a shot! P.S. the crispy mushrooms and buffalo cauliflower are my personal favourites

Absolutely fabulous. Stopped by for a few pints and dinner after a long day of travel from Canada. Ordered a few drinks, along with the blue corn chips & cheese sauce, crispy oyster mushrooms, and CORN RIBS which were some of the best things I've eaten in 5 years of being vegan. Service was great and super friendly. Very cool vibe in the place. Would definitely recommend, vegan or not.

Had a very, very tasty, vegan meal 😊 the non-alcoholic Pina Colada was bad, very watery, tasteless and for whatever reason there was nutmeg on it.

Vegan food is ok, a bit bland. Cocktails are ok. Atmosphere is fun. Servers are a bit detached, you have to order at the counter. Food service comes quick though.

Servicio absolutamente terrible. Esperé 15 minutos fuera, después de lo cual concluimos que era mejor ordenar en el bar. Esperamos en el bar, no te bromeo, de 20 a 30 minutos, después de lo cual uno de nuestros amigos finalmente fue servido. Tenga en cuenta que el lugar no estaba lleno ni ocupado en absoluto. Solo había un tipo (un hombre bollo) detrás de la barra que seguía tomando las bebidas de todos los demás antes que nosotros, incluso tomó una copa de una señora que se saltó la fila primero. Nuestro amigo se fue con su bebida, y cuando llegó el momento de dejarnos pidiendo, el tipo nos preguntó “¿sí?” y le pedimos piña coladas. Simplemente dijo que no. Pensamos que era tal vez demasiada molestia (a pesar de que lo tienen en su menú y parecía hacer la bebida de nuestro amigo simplemente bien) , por lo que pedimos cerveza en su lugar, a lo que él simplemente movió la cabeza y hacer un gesto con la mano como si no le importara. Él era increíblemente grosero y no nos servía NADA. Nos comportamos ordenadamente y pacientemente esperamos en el bar, solo para negar cualquier servicio en absoluto! ¡Nunca volverás y correrás la voz!

Went on a Monday night, and it was probably the lowest service I have experienced in my life. The bartender served people who came after us, and when we politely asked what is the issue, he refused to serve us drinks without any comments. Incredibly rude bartender, never coming again.

The worst customer service ever! Waiting in the queue for 30 minutes to hear that they don’t make piña colada because they are tow busy. However, people in the queue before us got their choices of cocktails regardless. The bartender was extremely rude and refused to serve the entire group. Do not expect anything else but extreme disrespect and disappointment here.

Popped in for what turned out to be an incredible lunch. Every dish was fantastic and so tasty, we can’t stop thinking about it. Highly recommended!

Excellent location and quirky vibes. But the real bonus is delicious vegan/vegetarian food! The “come back sauce” was particularly good. Prices decent for the amount and quality of food and drink, would definitely recommend for veggies and their meat eater friends.

Visité por primera vez ayer. El asiento exterior estaba ocupado debido al buen tiempo. Anticipé cosas buenas dada la cantidad de personas sentadas. ¡Descubrimos, sin embargo, que solo eran bebedores, ya que el establecimiento se negó a servir comida afuera debido a estar demasiado ocupado! ¡No es ese el propósito de asientos adicionales! Ni siquiera sé por dónde empezar... Pedir comida es una pesadilla, debe hacerse en el bar y el personal es INCREÍBLEMENTE grosero. Específicamente la chica con el tatuaje de tigre en el brazo. Tardó unos 20 minutos en ordenar. Nunca me había encontrado con camareros tan desagradables. Entonces salió la mitad de la orden y estaba mal. Tampoco proporcionó cubiertos. La camarera dijo que traería cubiertos y NUNCA LO HIZO. Tuve que encontrar tenedores limpios detrás de la barra. Después de una hora de espera, hicimos un seguimiento con el resto de nuestro pedido y nos dieron la vuelta, dijo que "se perdió. " Tuvimos que seguir 3 veces porque tuvimos que coger un tren. No estoy bromeando, la comida equivocada salió dos veces más.

Horrible place, more than an hour waiting for food. The place was completely chaotic. I won't be returning

We walked in and were told we had to order everything at the bar. We went to the bar and were not even acknowledged for close to twenty minutes. After ordering ( finally) it took 45 minutes for the food to start to come out. I say start because they brought us items we never ordered. The items we did order never arrived- they mixed it up and forgot! We had a train to catch so we left before even getting what we paid for! We will be contacting our credit card company for a change back. A member of our party, out of frustration, left for another restaurant. He ordered, ate , paid and returned to us before we had even gotten our first dish. The staff are indifferent and simply couldn’t care less. Worst experience I’ve had in a very long time. This establishment is a waste of your money & time. Please do yourself a significant favor and go somewhere else.

Bad service and spoiled beer, lack of hygiene.

Just arrived in Edinburgh (as did the rain) during Fringe Fest and went for a bit to eat. This places’ menu had some nice pieces in it. I managed to get a seat inside, although lots of parties were declined because of not enough space- a bit small inside but loads of outdoor spots. Can get a spot for just drinks if you wanted. The decor was quite quirky but cute. I got the chicken burger and ribs corn as a side and came with chips. The chips were a bit cold. The burger was nice (the mayo and sauce on it excellent) but I felt it was missing something in the paddy. The corn was absolutely amazing! I would come back again and get something different. Not too pricey - not cheap though.

They have delicious and lovely vegan foods. I really liked mushroom fries and SXSW burger!!

Was excited to go here and it was recommended by friends as it’s vegan/vege. I got the Bacon Royale with dairy cheese and the Lucky Ch*cken. Both equally excellent with classic quality chips. Would give this place a 4.5 stars!

We were at the fringe for 3 days in 2024 and could have gone anywhere to eat - but we ate here 2 days running because it was SO GOOD. Can't recommend the crispy osyter-mushroom burger enough. Great vibe at night, v pleasant in the day. Staff genuine and warm, not robotic or weary. It was as rammed at night as you'd expect during Fringe, but staff were chilled and the food and drink were correct and speedy. Will definitely be back. Only gripe was paying £1.50 for a pot of mayo!

If I lived in Edinburgh, this would be an at least weekly hangout. The food was good and our server was friendly. Good vibes all around!

Wonderful! The best and most creative food I've had in Scotland! Also suitable for vegans. Good value for money. Highly recommended. We had a burger and a mixed platter. Both great. The cheesy chipotle sauce is also top

This place used to be great but its awful now. They used to have friendly chatty staff behind the bar. Now it's usually unfriendly young women who don't pay attention to who's been waiting for drinks. They wouldn't know good customer service if it smacked them in the face. Food and cocktails have gone way downhill. Been coming here for years but I'll never be back 👎🏻

You've gotta try the food! Don't leave Edinburgh without coming here. The food is phenomenal and so are the staff. Mac and cheese is sooo good and so are the fried mushrooms. Whoa!

Good place for a visit. Good atmosphere but bar staff need to wipe the bar. Was soaking. Pert hate is a bar you can't actually lean on!

Only a big pot, no minis. Too many sweats contesting me and not enough loot for everyone. There were good rifts near by for rotation as it isnt in the centre.

Service not the best, apart one guy who was really nice, the female staff were bit abrupt, shame because it let it down. Food was good for what they offer, and good atmosphere. Cocktails were nice but not sure I would rush back.

I recently dined at Paradise palms and, where the food was generally below average, I was particularly disappointed by their policy of charging for condiments. Whilst I am not against charging for condiments my preference would be that they are included with in the cost of the meal. I am however, strongly against being introduced a card reader mid way through a meal. When I tried to politely explain the situation that I was prepared to pay for the extra condiment after I had eaten I was met with a rude manager which resulted in us leaving after paying for a meal which was wasted.

That was delicious. The made-to-order vegan burger was excellent. The welcome was very pleasant. The decor is great! We had a great time, we enjoyed ourselves

The food here was absolutely outstanding! Amazing flavour and portion sizes with plenty of selection. My girlfriend has some very particular allergies that make it difficult for us to eat vegan food in restaurants, but the staff did a tremendous job with checking which really helped us to relax and enjoy the meal. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Fun, great drinks and a menu full of delicious fried comfort food. Everything is vegan and we truly enjoyed the food. However, most of the dishes tried to mimic meat. They would benefit from letting vegetables be the real heroes.

Loved that it was all veggie, and comfort food. Was a bit too stodgy for me from all the batter, which was mostly the only options for gf small plates. Only one "large plate" that was gluten free which was the poutine

As a carnivore, the vegetarian meal was fantastic.

Love that its a vegetarian/vegan restaurant and bar. I ordered buffalo cauliflower, it had a hint of spice which was really nice, the ranch served with it really complimented the flavours. The cauliflower would have been better if it was cooked more. I felt the staff were a bit rude, definitely not friendly.

This place is a fun and welcoming pub / eatery which is all Vegan though you can order vegetarian cheese with some dishes. It is usually busy so be prepared for wee wait. But there is a bar with great cocktails and beers, so you can have drink at while waiting. Note this place is card only.

Great veggie but not healthy options.

Really cool place, everything is vegan or vegetarian, and there's loads to choose from. The food is very American and is pretty heavy and full of flavour. We really enjoyed the foot but felt extremely sluggish the day after on account of the heavy sauces and fried foods. Great cocktail menu with Scottish twists on classics. Service was decent, only slightly slow in checking in- definitely would have ordered another drink but nobody checked on us. There's a free pub quiz at 8pm on Sundays which we didn't realise but it was fantastic. Toilets a bit grim- very student bar vibe. The decor is really fun and the atmosphere is largely absolutely buzzing. Overall recommend but don't expect healthy clean eating !

We visited Edinburgh and came here twice. Especially the small plates are a delight, amazing if you share it. We took part in the pub quiz on sunday, which was a nice way to end the day and enjoyed the atmosphere. Will definitely drop by again if i‘ll come back to the city!

The food was fine. Definitely bar food. Vibe is more of a bar that serves food rather than a restaurant. There was no wait service. You just order at the bar and then sit down in only a certain section with low tables.

Paradise Palms is a fantastic place to eat and drink. Put down your phone and spark conversation from the stimulating decor. Me, my wife and my 2-year-old were spoilt for choice by the vast. Even when our assortment of tasty bits arrived I still kept thinking of other things I wanted to try as well. Everything was perfect and we all left very full and happy!
