Wow. This was quite an experience. The food was amazing. I had pakora and paneer bhindi with rice a naan.to drink I had Mango Lassi. All was delicious. Incredible value too £20 in total. I will be back!

We ordered one mixed non veg platter and kabuli pulao for three. Decent potion and fantastic service. Very warm manager took us through the menu. Food was impeccable nothing to fault.

This is the only place my husband has actually ever liked going to. We love going out to eat. I like to try different Indian/Pakistani restaurants. I drag him along. He is never happy with the food. But after trying Shinwari once, that was all it took. This is now our regular dinner date venue. Also dinner days out with the kids. The lamb chops are according to my husband ‘out of this world!!’ I am a vegetarian and I find the daal and chunna curry really tasty. My husband has tried different curries every time we go and only one curry he found not so nice. Owner is always very welcoming and pleasant. Service is good!! Traditional Pakistani food.

Authentic Pakistani food with attention to details. We tried lamb karahai, daal , kabuli pulao, BBQ platter, brain massalaaa——— hands down the best desi restaurant in Edinburgh . There are no short cuts in their food. Very authentic taste. ( you are not going to get the typical orange “ tikka” sauce here but you will keep returning . We actually went for two dinners in a row.

Went for a late lunch and were welcomed by the owner, he explained it had been very busy but we were welcome to come in and they would accommodate us as soon as possible. A jug of water was produced without asking. There is a good choice on the menu. We ordered our food and I can only say it was delicious and fresh and plentiful. I loved the Afgan salad. We didn't wait too long for the order to come to the table. Also checked that everything was okay. When I go back to Edinburgh I will definitely go back here. Friendly staff and the prices as so reasonable for city centre. Highly recommend.

A colleague and I came across this restaurant by chance and decided to give it a try. So glad we did. It is utterly superb. I had the nahari, a lamb shank stew, with nan. It was just so good. My colleague had another lamb stew the name of which escapes me but he was equally impressed. The food is nicely presented, service efficient and very friendly. Finally, we were amazed at how reasonably priced it was given the quality of the whole experience. Clearly a lot of love goes into this place.

I asked which dishes on the menu were vegan. The waiter pointed to the vegetable dishes and indicated that there were all vegan. When I pointed out that the paneer dish couldn't possibly be vegan the waiter said "Vegans can eat paneer". I was flabbergasted. I eventually settled on vegetable biryani. When it arrived there were a couple of sauces and the waiter said "The yoghurt one goes very well with this dish". I then asked him why I was being offered something yoghurt based when I had already made it clear I was vegan. The biryani was very bland but I persevered as I had to eat. Towards then end, I felt my teeth crunch on something which definitely wasn't a vegetable. I fished it out of my mouth to discover I had been chewing on a piece of plastic. My complaint about this really wasn't taken seriously at all and the apology was half hearted. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Shinwari is the best Pakistani restaurant in Edinburgh period. Every dish we tried were awesome m. I would highly recommend their charai karahi and Haleem. Their owner Asif and their server Nadeem were phenomenal. I visited this place three times during my stay of one week. Would highly recommend this to those are looking for authentic Apmistani cuisine in Edinburgh area

We tried the mixed grill and nan breads with a jug of a mango drink. Food was very tasty and the service was great as well.

Filthy place with absolutely no respect for the customer.Owner was abusive when we tried to give him a feedback on the quality of food. Chef was very humble but unfortunately right person in a wrong place. Ordered Chursi krahi ,it was tasteless. Waste of money and time.

This is a really nice place to try authentic Afghan & Pakistani cuisines. During my trip to Edinburgh, I visited this place 3 times and tried Chappli Kabab, Matka Biryani, Nihari, Afghani Pulao and Kobediah Karahi and found everything great.

Friendly attentive service and delicious food. The lamb shank with carrots and currants was tender and delicious and two vegetable side dishes were rich and a good accompaniment to the main course.
