I had a very bad experience for the last couple of days there Kabuli pulao portion is getting worst day by day

I order kabali pulao but received half thats many time same that's like very disappoint me

Many time I received half plio kabli

The food was below average. The service was slow and the restaurant was freezimg. The large portion was small size. Overall, the restaurant lacks quality.

We have been going to this restruant for over 8 Months travelling over 30 miles for the food 🥰. This place is amazing has a huge menu full of delicous pakistani dishes, drinks and deserts. A perfect place to take someone on a dinner date or as a family dinner. The owner is always welcoming and helpfull. Asad, Naeem and Asif are great people and we hope to see this restruant open in more cities soon. Bravo !

We visited this restaurant and noticed a strong smell of varnish after placing our order. Concerned, especially with an infant and a pregnant lady in our group, we politely brought it to the staff’s attention. To our shock, the staff member curtly told us to leave if the smell bothered us. Such dismissive and rude behavior, especially towards a lady, was extremely disappointing. While the food was decent, the attitude of the staff left a very negative impression.

Daniyel, made the experience even better. He was polite, attentive, and quick to recommend the best dishes on the menu. His service was exceptional

There are not enough stars to rate how amazing Shinwari, restaurant, food and staff are. Yesterday night was my brothers surprise birthday party. It was the first time for me visiting Shinwari. When I say I was so amazed. The customer service of the staff and how caring and accommodating they were as well as the food. This is a true family restaurant, they were treating us like we are their family. I can not fault even one thing or person. Very attentive, quick service, amazing food. I have never been to a restaurant with such amazing service and delicious food. Well done Shinwari. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Whatever you are doing is amazing. You made my brothers surprise party amazing and a night to remember for years to come, the music when he walked in and letting us put up decorations absolutely amazing. So nice and welcoming staff. Food was so nice. Tried the shinwari karahi and kabili pilao. Meat was so tender literally filling from the bone. Rice and nan was great. I'm not a frequent visitor to pakistani restaurants but this one was really impressive and would be one of my favourites whenever I'm in Edinburgh. Location as well is so great. Prices are reasonable.

Terrible customer service, food not up to standard, not worth it!!!!!!

Terrible the kebabs tasted way to salty, the nan bread came 20 minuites after we ordered and the lamb chops were very dry and warm at best. The only thing I enjoyed was the mango lassi but spending £62 for a decent mango lassi isn't worth it.

That was the worst ever dine in experience i had in UK ! The charsi karahi was pathetic and had small serving also lamb kebab and naan was too average ! Next morning me & my friends woke up with diarrhea and stomach pain. Not recomended at any cost ! Too much over priced resturant with dirty food

I'd like to have given it more stars. Some of the food was tasty like the namkeen karahi and the lamb koobideh but they need to work on the logistics of service and fullfilling orders. Some of what we ordered never arrived, they never asked what portion size we wanted and we had to constantly hunt for staff to make an order or chase what's happening with the orders.

Wow, this is certainly a pleasant spot for dinner. Good portions, delicious food, friendly table service. I enjoyed it. Garlic naan and the charsi (spelling?) was just phenomenal! Highly recommend.

We ordered Charsi Karahi, and it was a big disappointment. The food was not fresh, and even the salad looked stale and outdated. The Chapli Kabab had a strange foul smell, which was quite off-putting. To make matters worse, I ended up with an upset stomach after eating. Overall, the experience was very disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality food.

They served us rotten biryani where they had fresh biryani, they changed the biryani when we complained. The chappatis was very thick and not cooked properly.salad was also not fresh. I will never visit this place again. Service was also terrible.

What a lovely experience, food was really tasty, reasonably priced, service was good, attentive staff. Liked the mix of pushto and Urdu songs in background; not too loud. We order the Shinwari lamb karhai, kabuli pilao, charsi lamb pieces, lamb chops, chicken kabeeda, everything was tasty, there was 4 of us and all enjoyed.

Make sure you check there are no flies dipping in the sweets please before you serve the customer.

So the people giving good reviews here have, unfortunately, never had proper food. Lamb karahi was basically pre boiled meat and onion gravy mixed . Chappal kebabs had a taste with distinctive smell. Wanted tea that is in the video and images but was told no as it was 25 minutes to closing time. Really? No one came and asked if food was ok like they do in proper restaurants. Disappointed

Incredible food and great service! I've never had food this delicious before. My favorite was the vegetable samosas and the chicken charsi karahi. We also got the lahori karahi, which was also really good! The charsi karahi had a blend of flavors I've never had before and tasted INCREDIBLE! Very tender and well-cooked chicken, and so unbelievably flavorful. I believe our server was the owner, who chatted with us a bit and was very charming and kind. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! Definitely a hidden gem in Edinburgh.

Chapli Kabab really good but chicken biryani not good.

The food was very good. The restaurant is far too bright and somewhat uncomfortable for my taste; The ambience could still be worked on. We had a nice chat with the owner, who then told us he would serve us Indian tea. Mind you, we hadn't specifically ordered this, but were all the more surprised when the two cups came to £5.50 (!) on the bill, even though the impression was given that the tea would be served as a gesture of goodwill .

Really tasty, good value for money for Edinburgh - I particularly enjoyed the chicken biryani

Kabuki pilau was quite good. It's the type without much colour but the gentle oil brings flavour and the bite of the grains was good too. Lamb charsi karahi was quite decent too. The combination of spices is quite unique, and despite the description it's not too heavy, quite comforting. The garlic naan was a little dry but was quite unique, and has a bit of crisp. Overall food was quite solid, worth a try

One of the best Pakistani/afghan food spots in Edinburgh. The food was so good my family visited thrice within the week. I’d recommend their lamb karahis with naan, mixed grill and the matka biryani. Food was so well seasoned and warm which was so good during the cold edi weather. Both managers/waiters were really nice and provided excellent service.

We tried Lamb chops, chapli kabab and chicken charsi. We loved the food. One of the best chops, I’ve ever had.

I must say mashaAllah I had food at the restaurant and I fell in love with taste. Its authentic, so I booked them for my daughters marriage and every single person praise the food and all my guests cant wait to use shinwari for there functions.

We had Shinwari Edinburgh doing the catering for a function for us. Words cannot describe how tasty the food was! We had many dishes and each and every dish had its own authentic taste. All my guests requested a doggy bag for the food! Asif Bhai, who is the owner was so so accommodating from the very start and nothing was a problem for him. The food was delivered in a timely manner and was hot as promised. We have often eaten at the restaurant and service is always fantastic. Thank you so much

I Always come best place seriously

After a day out in Glasgow, went to Edinburgh to this restaurant, assuming the food quality and quantity will be the same as other's Pathan restaurants but this one was totally the opposite. I have shared the photos for comparison and information purpose only so that if you are assuming the Big Naan size for the big naan in Birmingham then you are wrong. Always ask to give you the naan in full size and oder the small naans because big naan (£2.50) size is of no different to small naan. Quantity of meat was also less. Service was poor but i don't blame waiters for this but kitchen staff was a bit slow. One suggestion for the owner/manager that please don't just make money from naans by reducing the quantity same for Kababs as well because they were half to the one in Birmingham restaurants and price was the same. I will say if you keep the quality and size the same but increase the price as this will at least make people understand that Edinburgh is so expensive and people will order accordingly mean required quantity. I hope my review will help a lot of customers to decide good quantity food so they don't have to wait for things.

I'll start with bad and end with good. Atmosphere is bland. Table decor is simple with white sheets and plastic tables. Not much wall decor. and the music box at the end gets annoying as it plays the same song over LOUDLY at that [but not so loud thaat you can't chat]. It looks simple which for a quick grab n go is fine but if u want to dine in and have an experience, I don't recommend it. But the round tables are spacious so you can eat comfortably without having to compress your body and limit your hand movement to nanometres. Service is mid. The first thing waiter says ever to us [me and a group of friends] is "wait for a second". No hello, no welcome, just "wait a second". My friend even cracks a joke but doesn't improve the atmosphere. And we had to be moved twice as there're a lot of people which I forgive, it's not his fault. But the inexperience shows. he could've asked how many are comng and judged the best seating based on that but i digress. But moving towards better, they respond to enquiries very fast [i'e seen abysmal staffing service in other places] so its nice to get a response fast. On to the good thing. Food is quite tasty. it's on par with other restaurants but not better. the kebab felt original and not homemade and karahi was nice. I especially loved the fact that they refreshed the sauces and salad [so many restaurants either put very little or charge for more]. weirdly, some complain the food portions looked small but i found them to be normal. But on to the worst part of the food. the fricking naan was an abomination. it was so tiny proprtional to the price that we had to order 10 times to get enough naan for everybody. Ig prices differ between regions in the UK but even London has better naan values than this. £2.50 for what's essentially a homemade rotI? thats £5.00 just for naan which is unacceptable. and to make it worse. the same nan goes for 25p in the UK. unfact u can get a massive one enough to feed 4 people for just £2. So def the worse. to end it, the tea was alright. i like the unique serving clay mug which was original.

Firstly, the staff was good to interact with. Secondly, the knowledge of the dish and serving portions. Recommendation of the dish and customisation as per the choice was done. Budget friendly. Finally, the food, portion size , taste and quality of the dish. Just fantastic, delicious flavours.

Best Indian halal food in Edinburgh

The food was absolutely amazing. It was super tasty, especially the haleem which wasn't as oily as one nornally gets in restaurants. Everything else that we ordered was really good and the mango lassi was super creamy and rich. Stayed in Edinburgh for four days and this was our family's to go to spot for one big meal. Would definitely recommend and the servers are extremely helpful and friendly.

Today I had my lunch here, it’s my first time trying Pakistani food, It was amazing. Highly recommend it. I had Shinawari as a starter and chicken kubbeh with kabuli rice for the main dish. Both come with salad. Also, I ordered Gud wali Chai, All been great. The staff are very welcoming and their service is so nice.

We have been in Edinburgh for 2 days and we have had dinner here both days. We have ordered charasi chicken, roti, biryani and gulab jamun. The taste of food is awesome like the taste of INDIA. I would recommend this restaurant for sure. The service was good and the staff were friendly and helpful.
