Had the worst experience. Their staff has no manners or any training in hospitality. They are rude and don’t know how to treat customers. Don’t go there. There is a much better restaurant just around the corner called Kabuli kitchen which is more clean and has really nice staff and food is good too . Avoid these rude and ill mannered people if you don’t want to ruin your day!!!!!

GO AT YOUR OWN PERIL! Always check your bill before paying. We visited twice, and both times they added extra platters to overcharge us. The first time, we thought it was a mistake, but when it happened again, we confronted them. They were clearly embarrassed and tried to brush it off. The food is mostly below average, with only a few decent items. Worse yet, more than half of the dishes they advertised in the buffet on social media weren’t even available. Plus they don’t really serve fresh food. Over oily and misleading menu.

Food was ok but not as good as to birhm or london restaurants . Long wait and no communication. Had to chase staff couple of times to get the attention. Bit costly.

Went for Iftar today to their buffet and everything was delicious! Nice hot and fresh, will be back :)

We used to go to this restaurant because their food was very good, especially the namkeen karahi with naan. However, we recently went for their Iftar buffet, which costs £22, and I can say it was the worst Iftar of my entire life. All the main dishes were not fresh, as if they had been made the day before yesterday and simply reheated before serving. None of them had any taste. The only fresh items were the appetisers, but every main dish, including the rice, was completely tasteless. After eating just three to four bites of mutton, I started feeling sick, and hours later, I began vomiting. I don't understand why they offer an Iftar buffet if they can't manage it properly or don’t want to serve freshly made dishes. I felt so embarrassed in front of my family and friends because it was my idea to have our family Iftar at this place.

Myself and my family went for a fantastic dinner here almost 2 years ago and I completely forgot the name of the restaurant and only remembered today. We asked for the chef's recommendations and got an absolute feast of incredible food, creamy kerahi and fall-off-the-bone lamb, well worth the visit, excellent food, service and atmosphere.

Too much rose water in chicken biryani, ordered a large meat platter, but got so disappointed as everything tasted like leftover food from yesterday🥲

likely not fresh food, upon mentioning to the staff they say they cooked and fried or grilled everything fresh but not sure how long they have prepared the meat and other dishes ahead of time. chicken, lamb and chaapli didnt taste fresh. unfortunately we were misled by the high rating on google. also there was too much rosewater in the chicken biryani.

Great place to open fast and close to mosque. Buffet is really good and service too.

Best tasting namkeen karahi and kabli plao ever

I went to the iftar arranged through Building Bridges. A *fantastic* buffet selection and a warm, family atmosphere.

It was my second time doing iftari buffet at the restaurant..the food no doubt is very very delicious but they are not keen on refills ..after keep insisting they started to serve people on their table what they asked for mainly the last stock ..if u want very very tasty food highly recommend,.trick of trade is get all food u want to eat on ur table at the start of buffet specially rice ,lamb stuff and gulabjam

I recently had the pleasure of trying Charsi Karahi, and it was absolutely amazing! The meat was so tender and juicy, cooked to perfection with just the right balance of spices. The aroma itself was mouthwatering, and every bite was full of rich, authentic flavor. The fresh ingredients and traditional cooking style really stood out. Paired with naan or chapati, it’s a meal I’d highly recommend to anyone who loves true desi cuisine. Can’t wait to have it again!

Best Pakistani restaurant in town . Great food i was there on vacation and stop by twice . Our waiters Ali & Danial were very attentive and made excellent recommendations . Great menu choices and really excellent food and at affordable prices. Charsi karahi was epic Will be back.

Had Charsi Chicken Karahi, and Nihari. Chicken Karahi was delicious and tasty , just erupted the nostalgic memories of Peshawar’s restaurants. Karak chai (tea) was extremely tasty too.

Absolutely delicious food! Tried some of the karahi dishes and kebabs at this Pakistani/Afghani restaurant, and everything was bursting with flavour. The spices were just right, the meat was perfectly tender, and the naan was fresh and fluffy and I had no choice but to leave my plate clean. Exceptional service by the waiters and a cosy atmosphere—will definitely be coming back!

Pretty good desi halal food if compared to Uk desi foods. The staff was helpful aswell. It is quite spacious and can accomodate alot of people. The only big negative for me was the cleanliness (they need to work on cleanliness of floor/ toilets)

We tried this place on a whim, to see what it was like. While there was nothing wrong with the service, they were not particularly forthcoming in friendliness. The decor was a little tired and aged but this is nothing we wouldn't be happy to ignore if the food was fantastic. Was the food fantastic? In short, no. Some of the kebabs had clearly been reheated and were tough and dry, others seemed fresh but were obviously undercooked, being chewy and overall having an unpleasant taste to them. The naans were actually decent, you got a lot of naan for your money. However the curry's were poorly spiced and the meat was not properly cut, which was disappointing as it resulted in food that was chewy and unpleasant to eat. My family hate leaving leftovers so we thought we'd take the naan home. They charged us for the takeaway boxes and bag. I really hate giving negative reviews and would have simply not left a review if we hadn't gotten food poisoning the next day as a result of our dinner. Overall, this was not an experience we will be keen to repeat and we will not be going back. I hope other diners have a better experience.

We have been going to this restruant for over 8 Months travelling over 30 miles for the food 🥰. This place is amazing has a huge menu full of delicous pakistani dishes, drinks and deserts. A perfect place to take someone on a dinner date or as a family dinner. The owner is always welcoming and helpfull. Asad, Naeem and Asif are great people and we hope to see this restruant open in more cities soon. Bravo !

We visited this restaurant and noticed a strong smell of varnish after placing our order. Concerned, especially with an infant and a pregnant lady in our group, we politely brought it to the staff’s attention. To our shock, the staff member curtly told us to leave if the smell bothered us. Such dismissive and rude behavior, especially towards a lady, was extremely disappointing. While the food was decent, the attitude of the staff left a very negative impression.

Nihari with Nan is absolutely out of this world.

There are not enough stars to rate how amazing Shinwari, restaurant, food and staff are. Yesterday night was my brothers surprise birthday party. It was the first time for me visiting Shinwari. When I say I was so amazed. The customer service of the staff and how caring and accommodating they were as well as the food. This is a true family restaurant, they were treating us like we are their family. I can not fault even one thing or person. Very attentive, quick service, amazing food. I have never been to a restaurant with such amazing service and delicious food. Well done Shinwari. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Whatever you are doing is amazing. You made my brothers surprise party amazing and a night to remember for years to come, the music when he walked in and letting us put up decorations absolutely amazing. First time trying Pakistani/Afghani food and wasn't disappointed! The service is excellent, we felt most welcome and received detailed recommendations for dishes which were excellent! Highly recommend!

So nice and welcoming staff. Food was so nice. Tried the shinwari karahi and kabili pilao. Meat was so tender literally filling from the bone. Rice and nan was great. I'm not a frequent visitor to pakistani restaurants but this one was really impressive and would be one of my favourites whenever I'm in Edinburgh. Location as well is so great. Prices are reasonable.

Terrible customer service, food not up to standard, not worth it!!!!!!

Terrible the kebabs tasted way to salty, the nan bread came 20 minuites after we ordered and the lamb chops were very dry and warm at best. The only thing I enjoyed was the mango lassi but spending £62 for a decent mango lassi isn't worth it.

That was the worst ever dine in experience i had in UK ! The charsi karahi was pathetic and had small serving also lamb kebab and naan was too average ! Next morning me & my friends woke up with diarrhea and stomach pain. Not recomended at any cost ! Too much over priced resturant with dirty food

I'd like to have given it more stars. Some of the food was tasty like the namkeen karahi and the lamb koobideh but they need to work on the logistics of service and fullfilling orders. Some of what we ordered never arrived, they never asked what portion size we wanted and we had to constantly hunt for staff to make an order or chase what's happening with the orders.

We ordered Charsi Karahi, and it was a big disappointment. The food was not fresh, and even the salad looked stale and outdated. The Chapli Kabab had a strange foul smell, which was quite off-putting. To make matters worse, I ended up with an upset stomach after eating. Overall, the experience was very disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality food.

They served us rotten biryani where they had fresh biryani, they changed the biryani when we complained. The chappatis was very thick and not cooked properly.salad was also not fresh. I will never visit this place again. Service was also terrible.

What a lovely experience, food was really tasty, reasonably priced, service was good, attentive staff. Liked the mix of pushto and Urdu songs in background; not too loud. We order the Shinwari lamb karhai, kabuli pilao, charsi lamb pieces, lamb chops, chicken kabeeda, everything was tasty, there was 4 of us and all enjoyed.

Make sure you check there are no flies dipping in the sweets please before you serve the customer.

Incredible food and great service! I've never had food this delicious before. My favorite was the vegetable samosas and the chicken charsi karahi. We also got the lahori karahi, which was also really good! The charsi karahi had a blend of flavors I've never had before and tasted INCREDIBLE! Very tender and well-cooked chicken, and so unbelievably flavorful. I believe our server was the owner, who chatted with us a bit and was very charming and kind. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! Definitely a hidden gem in Edinburgh.

So the people giving good reviews here have, unfortunately, never had proper food. Lamb karahi was basically pre boiled meat and onion gravy mixed . Chappal kebabs had a taste with distinctive smell. Wanted tea that is in the video and images but was told no as it was 25 minutes to closing time. Really? No one came and asked if food was ok like they do in proper restaurants. Disappointed

Chapli Kabab really good but chicken biryani not good.

The food was very good. The restaurant is far too bright and somewhat uncomfortable for my taste; The ambience could still be worked on. We had a nice chat with the owner, who then told us he would serve us Indian tea. Mind you, we hadn't specifically ordered this, but were all the more surprised when the two cups came to £5.50 (!) on the bill, even though the impression was given that the tea would be served as a gesture of goodwill .

Very delicious Pakistani restaurant. I tried their special meal, which was a large piece of cabbage meat, sufficient for approximately three people. The restaurant’s food, according to what they told me, is halal, God willing

The food was AMAZING. The service was really good. And the flavor of the food was so comforting. Felt like home very traditional.
