My wife, my 6 months old son, and I stopped at this place 22 years ago for look around, and we were caught off guards by the shop owner and his wife, who invited us with the best and tastiest cup of tea with some homemade chilli dip. This pleasant experience still carries its ripple with us 22 years on. To the gracious shop owner and his wife, thank you so much for the great experience and May God Almighty bless you and grant you all your wishes. 🌹

I realy do enjoy shopping at Jordans, i like herbal tea( loose chamomile or elderflower), as for herbs and spices they are the best ive come across, such a wide selection at reasonable prices, staff and owner very helpful, tried to call the shop to check for supply to pick up(phone number on site is not valid). Sure it just needs to be updated. Thank you Jordans for all you do, great store🥰

This place is great for wholefoods that are often not stocked in other places. Simply massive tea and spice collection - particularly good for Middle Eastern spices, which nowhere else seems to stock.

On my sister's last day in Edinburgh and on her way to the airport, I took her to visit this tea store this morning at 10:00 sharp. Since it seemed to be not open yet (although the working hours are from 10:00) we lightly knocked on the door to attract the attention of the people inside. What happened next was a very young man with a long hair, obviously a worker of this place, opening the door, blocking our way inside and yelling at us in a disrespectful and unfriendly manner. He screamed something along the lines of "don't you dare touch the door again, we are not open yet" and when we asked when will the store be open because we were on our way to the airport and wanted to buy a lot of tea gifts for our friends and family, he started raising his voice again. He continued repeating "you can go inside only when I tell you to go inside, don't touch the door yourselves", nudging us to leave the store's door front, which we eventually did. We don't usually leave negative reviews but this was a really unpleasant and embarrassing situation, especially because she was my guest in Edinburgh and her experience was an amazing one before this morning. Prior to this situation I was a very loyal buyer at the Jordan Valley tea shop and I had enjoyed many times the hospitality of an elderly and a very friendly person working there. However, the young man's behavior this morning was odd to say the least and this is definitely not the way people should be treated where they want to spend their money. For all the reasons mentioned above, I will not buy tea in this store anymore. The purpose of this review was to warn others of how disrespectful unfortunately they are and suggest you go to some other tea shop.

I am not sure how to review this business. Although they have a large selection of items that cannot be bought anywhere else their raisins were very dry as were their apricots which may be that some of their stock is a long way past its sell buy date.

Lovely shop and a great selection of products. Unfortunately, one of the young men working there was very rude and shouted at my friend, who couldn't reach a product, and thought it's okay to use a 2 step ladder placed right there. The situation didn't require making such a scene and left us feeling very awkward.

I won't judge Jordan Valley for their dry foods: a huge range of spices, dried herbs, teas, coffees, staples (like bulgur wheat and other grains), canned and dry beans, canned soups and tomatoes, chocolate bars, halva, dried fruit, some plant milk in cartons, too. They sell some chilled bottled drinks, such as kombucha - if you're in need of kombucha, you'll find it there! But I REALLY don't like your ready meals - flavour is great, ingredients are great, but they are just SO GREASY. If you could put way less oil in, e.g. in the vegetable biryani, I would love them and eat them all the time. But for someone who can't tolerate excess quantities of oil, my advice is: stay away from Jordan Valley ready meals. I felt sick for half of the day after I had their rice meal.

I was at this store today and witnessed the disgraceful manner in which a female customer was treated. The server was extremely rude in his attitude. He has also hired a fat billy bunter lad who is laughably meant to be some sort of security in the store, and as if the server's attitude was not bad enough, this one joined in to back his little master. It got so bad the woman put her prospective purchases down on the counter and stormed out. I couldn't blame her. I will not be returning to this store after witnessing this.

I've been going in here for a couple of decades, though now less frequently as I live across town. There is a good selection, but it now seems to be run by angry and petulant young men rather than the friendly family I remember. On my last visit the man at the counter was very rude to my mother and I, with absolutely no provocation, and then told us to leave when we complained. The men in the shop had been arguing for ten minutes at this point with another customer, who was quite patiently complaining about them selling mouldy pies over a period of months. Although I can't say I'm surprised, because I have found that their pies go mouldy a lot quicker than you would expect them to, we were just there to buy a couple of things and weren't involved in her complaint at all. I felt sorry for her though, because they were ganging up on her and being very defensive rather than taking her complaint with grace. I don't think I'll be going back after that.

Is it a café or a shop? To me it is the most exiting tea shop in Scotland and a place I always drop in at when in Edinburgh. Their range of teas are astonishing, you will find a lot of blends you have never heard about but luckily the staff knows their stuff and you will be guided until they come up with something which is just the right for you. Unfortunately I am only in Edinburgh once or twice a year so I have to stock up. Wish there were more places like this!

I love this little shop (it's a shop not a cafe, though it does do a good trade in take away Middle Eastern snacks) and walk quite a long way to visit it. It has a great range of groceries, fresh foods and some eco cleaning products and shampoos, etc. The spices, etc are really good value. There is a huge choice of different types and makes of tea. I come especially for the St Dalfour jam - they have far more varieties than any supermarket - and for the organic flour. They also do good olives, pasta, lots of baclava, chocolate, dried fruits - good dates especially - and the take-away snacks are hugely popular. Prices are far lower than many such shops. The guys on the counter are very helpful and friendly too. Highly recommended.

I used to buy my falafels from this shop (in its previous location) 25 years ago when I was a student at Edinburgh Uni. As a previous reviewer said it is run by a lovely family. When I bought my goods 25 years ago it was usually the Dad who served me and we used to have good chats. After a long absence I visited the shop yesterday and the son served me, just as delightful as his Dad. I have just had a falafel sandwich for my Sunday lunch and even though I put it together, it is the best falafel sandwich I have ever had. It was also the free one the son gave me as a 'loyalty' gift !!! These falafels are really something else. I will have to become a more regular customers, for the delightful falafels as much as the delightful family who run the shop.

Run mostly by a lovely man and his family, this place is full of healthy foods and things you might struggle to find outside the Middle East. A wall of teas, more olives, herbs and pulses than you could shake a bundle of cinnamon sticks at... But the real appeal of this shop is the Jordan Valley product range. Everything from bags of millet or spice mixes to home-made pastries, gluten/dairy free quinoa flapjacks, falafels, it's a cornucopia that never ceases to please and surprise!

Bored of soulless Tesco metros and Sainsbury locals, I've been keeping an eye out for reasonably priced independents with a good choice of food. People, I have found it! This place was open late so I went in for a browse after a Fringe show. They have the best range of tea, lovely, quality deli produce, breads, pulses, confectionery etc etc. While waiting to pay the guy (I guess the owner) asked if I wanted to buy some freshly made falafel. I did, it was delicious, so I bought some for supper. Loved this shop, it was colourful, unusual, well stocked and very reasonably priced. total was the same, possibly less than I'd have paid at a supermarket.
