Xiangbala Hot Pot in Edinburgh, City of

First time for me to try chinese hotpot and it was delicious!! We tried a few things on the menu and loved everything. We got the spicy broth and the special chicken broth, but I prefered the spicy one! There is also a sauce bar where we can make our own sauce and little hedgehog red bean bun! The price was £23,50 per person with a drink for £3,50 with free refill. Booking a table beforehand is better. Highly recommend, I loved it!

Delicious hot pot, just like in Shanghai! Service is quick and all you can eat for 20 quid is a bargain. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Definitely recommend to book in advance as it normally very busy. There were plenty of dish selections for the hotpot which all tasted great and the staffs were friendly and warm welcome.

First of all, the taste is really good. The boss is very generous and always provides a lot of dishes. Even though it is a buffet, I am worried that I will not be able to finish it as a customer. Once again, the waiters are really great. They are friendly and diligent. They treat every customer with care and are very discerning! The boss should be kind to them attentively~~Many Chinese restaurants will probably be vying for such a great waiter😆

Booked a table, Showed up 5 minutes early and can see a table isn't available yet. Tells me its cash only. Told them no problem i will just go to cash machine. I comeback and they have given my table away and wanted me to wait next to the toilets

Totally authentic. I've never ever seen this before in the UK. My colleague has spoken about this type of restaurant in China and I have always been intrigued. Essentially you cook your own food on a heated table. Choose two different broths and then order fish shellfish meats, veggies to cook in the broth. Help yourself to a spice dish and have fun. I totally recommend but be prepared to have dinner with the local Chinese community and just enjoy.

It was more cost-effective and delicious than the Hai Di Lao I had in London. The tomato soup was especially great! The ingredients are fresh and I'm so happy to have a restaurant like this so close.

Absolutely loved this place! Staff are friendly and attentive, food was great and they kept it coming, nice selection of choices and loved that soft drinks were also free refills. They have little hedgehog shaped red bean paste bao buns which are simple and delicious! Nice atmosphere too!

All you can eat for around 20 british pounds. Soft drink flat for 3 pounds. Choosing from quite limited selection of ingredients. Broths are okay and authentic. Very nice and flexible personnel (we spoke mandarin) High demand, the restaurant is extraordinary full in terms of space.

Awesome eat all you want hotpot in Edinburgh, fresh, a wide variety, huge amount, great pricing and excellent service. Spoilt for choices sauces, love this, there are also dessert such as fruits available. Definitely recommended 👏🏻👏🏻.

點了鴛鴦鍋，辣是真的辣，但也很香， 屬於吃到飽，價格也不貴， 大概是倫敦吃到飽的一半價格。 店內幾乎都是華人， 有一種親切感。

The food was very good and reasonably priced. There were lots of options and we enjoyed the meal. The interior itself is fine; it is quite basic though. We will definitely be back next time we are in Edinburgh.

Feels a bit cramped but staff are very nice and helpful, food is tasty. There are vegetarian options but you need to ask the staff to find out which broths are suitable for vegetarians

A good variety of soup base to choose from. Love the razor clams and scallops! You don’t get these from an all you can eat hotpot in london. Service is very efficient. Remember to book otherwise it’s hard to get a seat at dinner hours.

Poor customer service, the staff rushed me to order the soup for the hotpot and drink. The dirty plates were left on the table until we paid the bill. They kept the menu at their counter unless you asked for it to order food. The crab was tasteless. They wouldn’t tell you if one of the item is out of stock. I asked for the water to the staff, he nodded his head without answering, he ended up didn’t give us anything. One of us went to the staff and ordered again. So disappointed, I had hotpot here couple times before Covid, the food was good and customer service was fine. We could keep the menu and ordered anytime.

Never tried hotpot but it was great! And its all you can eat which makes it better.

We booked a table for 5.30pm when we arrived our table was waiting for us. We got given the laminated menu to tick what broth and food we wanted and our drinks order. They checked what broth we where having and went to get that sorted whilst we finished picking the food. The hot pot broth got set up and switched on. The service is outstanding and there very friendly. Our food arrived within minutes. The lovely lady and young man where so good the lady explained cooking times and the young man helped with the dipping sauce which was amazing. Juice is £3.50 and it's refilled as well as many times. Tomato broth and curry broth was really nice. Selection of Chinese vagtables,meats and seafood. Our pot kept being refilled with water every so often and was asked if we wanted more meat. I advice to book as there was never a table empty for more than 5 mins. People where getting turned away as there was no tables. It's a small restaurant but very busy. It does get hot but that's to be expected. It was a lovely experience as we are Scottish and never had anything like it before but certainly won't be the last time can't wait to go back. Thank you for such a lovely experience.

Pros: The food at the restaurant is delicious, with a wide variety of choices and flavorful sauces. The staff is attentive and provided good service. As a fan of Sichuan hot pot, it was a delightful experience to taste it again after not having it for six years. The staff was always prompt in refilling our water and bringing more food whenever we needed it. Cons: The overall appearance of the place could be improved. Additionally, the air conditioning was not functioning properly during our visit on a warm summer day, making it slightly uncomfortable. One significant downside was that the restaurant only accepted cash, and the notification about this was not prominently displayed. We only noticed the small note on the wall when it was time to pay, which was inconvenient and came as a surprise.

Value for money and pretty authentic taste. The highlight was the staffs, they’re very friendly and efficient!

Shared an amazing meal here. The portions of meat were generous. The broths we were cooking in were delicious. The moment you walk in the door and get the scent wafting towards you, you know it's going to taste amazing! Staff couldn't have been more accommodating and attentive. Atmosphere was vibrant and buzzing.

You had to call over the staff was difficult to communicate what we were after as we were sure of the proper name of some of the mushrooms and such like. Would of been simpler to issue the order sheets again. Found the seafood was still frozen so have to cook longer in the broth. Ticked Chinese leaf but got cos lettuce instead.Quite a small restaurant, we had booked in advance. The options were minimal, expended more to pick from. Wouldn't go here again as the service was lacking and left waiting about in between . Which ruined the experience. At £22 at head it was expensive for half the experience we expected. When we asked for the bill , they took our glasses away even tho there were still drinks in them. Did not ask if we were finished with them, as we wanted to finish them while the bill came.

The most delicious and clean hot pot in Edinburgh. The service was very good as well. But some of my orders of seafood didn’t come. It was the downside. Cash only as well.

店面很小，空间拥挤，灯光昏暗。位于 Haymarket 旁边，不是很好停车。 麻辣锅底蛮香，可惜没有烤肉。海鲜品种比格拉斯哥的 Jay’s Grill Bar（博物馆对面的旧苏格兰调情）多。牛羊肉卷看着更新鲜。有鸭血、响铃卷、青口、扇贝等。非常赞。

You need to reserve a table...and it's cash only... But it's worth it.. very friendly staff, who couldn't be more helpful if they tried.. very simple menu, you just mark everything you want and they bring it out one giant platter, want more meat, no problem. Just ask and they will bring it out. They offer unlimited soft drinks.. but have a good selection of spirits and some wines and beers (bottles only) as well. Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our time here. And I will miss this when I have to return back to London. But will definitely try to find time to visit again when I can..

I think this is the bes hot-pot in Edinburgh, it's located in Haymarket. Better have 4 people to get 3 different soups. Dont forget to bring cash, it costed me £21.5. Love it, even the dessert was delicious (melon and red-bean pao)

This place is truly phenomenal, all the servers made us feel welcome. The beef is to die for as is the hot and spicy broth. Definitely coming back and if you're thinking of coming here, please do. You'll not regret it.

Upon arrival at the restaurant, I waited by the door while my partner asked for a table. He was informed by the staff that all tables were fully booked due to reservations. Subsequently, we witnessed and clearly heard a group of four individuals arrive and request a table in Chinese without a prior reservation. To our surprise, they were promptly accommodated despite the previous statement of unavailability. My partner doesn’t speak Chinese, so I attempted to seek clarification from the staff in Chinese, but was provided with false information regarding the group's reservation status. They continued to insist that the group had a prior reservation even though I knew it wasn’t true. This experience left me feeling disappointed with the level of service and honesty provided by the restaurant.

We were here a couple of days ago to eat hot pot and had fortunately reserved in advance, because it was full to capacity. The ambience is rather simple to rustic, the focus is clearly on the food. Our two kids, 3 and 5, loved it (we only had to pay half price once, the other ate for free). The food was exceptionally good, the service very efficient.

Amazing for our first time doing hotpot. Cash only but other than that cannot fault it. Recommend to avoid the crab. More faff than it is worth. Scallops and squid and beef and enoki mushrooms all recommended.

Amazing experience, fresh food...what is the most important very welcome atmosphere. We love it.

Glad we tried this, we were given a menu and we were unsure how much we could order-the staff said whatever we wanted. So we ticked off what we wanted. We had two types of broth. Plenty of food, we had refillable cola. Food was lovely and staff were friendly when we were unsure. Cash only-we went at the weekend and paid £21.50 per person and £3 each for a refillable cola.

It was very good service, food and price. I went there alone they accepted who come alone get buffet deal, a table was available at the moment, if i came to Edinburgh, I’ll come eating again.

Renowned hotpot near Haymarket for Asian people. The space is limited and always full especially dinner time so better book via telephone. The menu is various. the sauce stations are pretty interesting especially they have Thai sukiyaki sauce which I love. Of course I’m Thai. All you can eat but they accept cash only. Recommended to try if you miss hotpot

Flavorful broth, friendly staff, and fast service. We chose tomyum & oxtail broth. We toootally love the tomyum one! Perfect comfort food for cold weather! The staff refills the broth even without us asking, which is good, so I can focus on enjoying my food 😀 Make sure to book your table before coming, as it’s full most of the time. Also, bring cash!

Staff basically shoved me out the place when I asked if they had a free table. He was very dismissive even when I tried to ask when next a table would be available and shut the door in my face. Very disappointing as it used to be my favourite place for hotpot.

Good food, great staff. Didn't realize it was cash only until after I ate. Had to hunt down an atm that would take my foreign debit card. They were still kind to me when I came back in nearly 40 minutes later to pay (I'm sure they thought I did a fine and dash)

Very authentic place I almost forgot we are in Scotland and not tousands miles away on another continent. Very nice and helpful staff - speacially if you have no idea what to do as it was our first time experience (we will do better next time :D) having hot pot. Very busy on a Sunday so do consider booking in advance! We had to wait for a table but it wasn't too long. Food is of high standard, and only take few minutes to appear on your table! Scallops was huge and fresh. It's not cheap but worth it in my view.

Lovely, cozy, hot pot restaurant. Loved the tom yum and spicy broths. Great selection of veggies and seafood! Also, nice dipping sauce components. Very hospitable, quick service too! Got a reservation, and had a relaxed meal at 8.30 pm. Will go back soon!

Place was amazing couldn't recommend it more. The staff were friendly and helped my boyfriend and my clueless self through the menu and how to cook everything. The atmosphere was so fun and we never felt like a bother or inconvenience to the staff even with our stupid questions.

I think this is the best hotpot restaurant I’ve ever been in my life. The hotpot soup is delicious, the selection of meat is various (crab, scallop, beef, lamb, prawn, etc). The service is amazing! It’s only £21/person which really worth the price!

Recommend reservations on a weekend. Fast service, good range of items for hot pot, well stocked dipping sauce station. It's a small restaurant so it fills up quickly at peak hours.
