Tasty Noodle in Edinburgh, City of

The restaurant is run by a husband and wife couple and the food is excellent. There's very limited seating but that should not deter you from dining in to enjoy a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold, rainy day. We ordered the pickled cabbage and pork noodle soup and the dan dan noodles, both of which I recommend. I hope to return to try their other dishes!

The food is quite good but it’s extremely expensive for such small portions. I don’t know if we were unlucky but feels stingy to charge so much for something that is a size of a small starter. No receipt also, cash only, so I don’t even know if we were charged extra for something, was it a mistake or just a rip off?

I thought I was in China. If you are into chinese cuisine, must visit.

I ate beef fried noodle, it was delicious. The meat is generous, the vegetables are fresh and I love the noodle texture. You can order small or large portion, It costed me £8.5 for small portion. The uncle is very friendly, don't forget to bring cash, because the payment is cash only.

My wife and I visited Edinburgh for 5 days. This was the best meal we had! Dumplings were so good that we ordered 20pcs takeaway to bring with us as we continued on to Skye. We had the beef noodle soup, braised curry beef brisket with rice, and the chinese pork dumplings. All were superb!

The beef noodle soup is amazing! Best noodle soup I've had in Edinburgh. The place is tiny (four tables) and it's a one man show. You can watch as the chef makes your food in the kitchen. Customer service is kind of non-existent so go for the food, not the service. Very much a hole-in-the-wall place. Bring cash!

The boss man cooks up a peng duck fried rice. Lovely decor, really relaxing. It is like a hibachi place, you see the chef cooking your food, it is more of an experience than a resteraunte.

Came in tonight with my sibling. We are visiting the city for the weekend. We ordered beef fried noodles, chicken fried noodles, vegetable dumplings and 2 cokes. The food is so so so nice. Portions are generous and the owners are friendly. I couldn't finish all my food so I took the rest away. Would recommend. To the owners: Thank you for the food, it was delicious

Small cosy place good home cooked food well worth a visit

The decor and set up is as simplistic as a Chinese street food stall. With only 4 tables and a small kitchen, this isn’t your typical restaurant. It’s as if you’ve walked into someone’s kitchen. But do not be put off! The food is supreme. The noodles especially, authentic as you’ll get in this city. Tasty, delicious and full of flavour. I ordered the Dan dan noodles (noodles in peppery sauce) and it was sublime. My mate ordered the pork and pickled veg noodle soup and it was brilliant. My other mate got the stir fry beef noodle - simple yet still so tasty. If you want authentic tasty food, this is the best choice!

Probably the best Asian place in Edinburgh. Some of the dishes are a bit of a hit or miss but the hot and sour never fails to impress. Very flavorful broth and well marinated beef. The price is also very fair.

This is probably the worst food and service we have ever endured in Edinburgh. The gentleman at the counter spoke zero English, even failing to understand the word "noodle", however carefully enunciated. We did not get what we ordered. The egg fried rice stuck together in obstinately glutinous clumps. The curry was one-dimensional, crude and left an unpleasant aftertaste of undercooked spice. I failed to recognise the other dish. After one tentative mouthful it was relegated to the bin where it belonged. A melange of noodles and some lumps of indeterminate flesh swimming in a sea of soy sauce. For this we paid the princely sum of £24. I have no idea why others have praised this so highly. The discerning of palate will not be back for a repeat experience. Execrable.

Tasty noodles - The name says it all! ***BRING CASH*** The broth in particular is extremely tasty! My friend and I both tried the beef and noodle soup and the seafood dumplings. We got a healthy sized bowl of noodle and delicious beef that topped it off.

I had dan-dan noodles and fried pork and onion dumplings. The food was tasty, well-seasoned, a joy to savour. To put this in context, I am an extremely fussy eater. I cannot eat at most Chinese restaurants; I avoid all-you-can-eat buffets; if there is a trace of fat or sinew in the dish I will spit it out. A word of advice though: the place is small and chef runs it by himself, so you'll have to wait for some time in the busy hours. Also, there is a bit of a language barrier. However, I will take this any day over the bland, subpar, run-of-the-mill Chinese food that nowadays too many other places put out. Will definitely be back.

The food: Looks authentic, tastes awful! Noodles too soft, too much oil and very sour don't know why. The service: awful like the other comments. The cook made the noodle while talking on the phone and service while talking on the phone too!!!

Decided to go for the Dandan noodle good size of portion very flavourful and not too expensive, small little traditional Chinese noodle shop and cosy. Will definitely be back

It's bizarre to me that a small but beautiful city in Scotland fields better authentic Chinese food than one of the world's greatest cultural hubs, but it does... Not since I had noodles hand pulled in front of me in Hong Kong have they tasted this good. Kudos to the owner for being a one man show! Two types of dumplings were also superb.

Very small place inside, but full of locals. You can see directly into the kitchen and see the chef making everything. The chef took a lot of pride in each dish that was made and you could tell. The noodles are handmade and very tasty. We shared a pork and onion dumplings and a beef noodle soup. The soup was great, amazing noodles and broth. Great serving size. Dumplings were a bit disappointing in that they were very doughy, and not a great flavour. If you are looking for some great noodles come here. Note you need to pay cash.

I had the beef noodles and dumplings. Bill came to about 18 pounds. The dumpling was 10 and noodle about 7-8 pounds. It was pretty decent. A one man show who is the chef-server-boss. The food came quick even though it was just one person . The restaurant is tiny and probably fits about 15 at most.

I went to the restaurant with Chinese friends as they said it was a real Chinese food restaurant. The food was great, with many options from vegetarian, rice, beef, lamb, chicken, rice noodles, soup or fried, spicy or not, etc. The owner makes the noodles himself and prepares the food next to you since the restaurant has 4 tables for 15/20 pax max and the kitchen next to them, not a fancy place. A take away it's an option. Bear in mind that he only accept cash or WeChat. You have to see what you like at the menu and tell him the number. Since his main language is Chinese, even though, he will accommodate your order if you need it for request or allergies. Superb food, and great person, he only closes on Saturdays so still you will have 6 days to go and try it. If you like Asian food, rices and noodles you won't find a better one.

Best noodles in Edinburgh by far. He makes all the noodles himself and most of the time cooks and runs the restaurant by himself. He's always friendly and works hard.

It's really small and the entrance doesn't look the one of a restaurant/shop, so it's quite easy to miss, but oh my god. BEST. DUMPLINGS. EVER. I often dream about them. In general the food is great. The place is run by one man who works alone all day. I hate the trend of calling places "authentic", but I see lots of Chinese people go there so it must be doing something good. I think it's a unique place, you wouldn't normally find something like this in Europe, in my experience (unless you know where to go, I guess, which I don't). Great food, would totally recommend. It doesn't accept cards.

The Tasty Noodle place is by far my favourite in Edinburgh. The noodles themselves are home made by the owner and the dishes are really authentic. What I love the most about this place is that there is a personal touch as everything is made by the owner from scratch and the taste comes from the ingredients rather than just sauce. I recommend number 1 and 17 from the menu!

You don't have to be chinese to feel at home. Authentic chinese food with a dose of love. Noodles are handcrafted from scratch by the owner everyday, the soup is remarkable and flavourful. Any Item from the menu has more personality to them than the characters from the show Arrow. Me along with a load of students from Edinburgh has been here at least a 20 times. A unique experience you won't find anywhere else.

Having a sister in law who lives in Beijing who we visit every year, this is the most authentic chinese food I have had outside of China. It is absolutely superb. I've been reading other reviews aying it's expensive / unclean but that is rubbish. It's tiled floor to ceiling with white tiles so super easy to keep clean and an average og £6.50 for a meal. I've never managed to only have one dish though! You must try the roast duck fired udon. And the fried prok and onion damplings!

Tasty Noodle located in Buccleuch street has other Asian restaurants nearby, but why I am writing about it? If you like to indulge on a fancy eatery just don't go there! Tasty Noodle is a one man show. Small in size, with a standard menu, a few tables, and the food is delicious. I have never been in China, though I was warned that the food there is pretty close to what you eat on the street or small sized restaurants in China. The owner is also the chef, he works long hours, but has the best service and authentic Chinese food! Try to be plain and simple when speaking with the chef, there is the language issue. But you would not regret the food! Some people might complain about the hygiene, the only faulty thing over there is the exhaustion, so expect a very damp place, spicy air, the smell of food. Actually, I am used to this kind of restaurants! Do not be shy, give it a try. You might struggle with the menu at the beginning, or to find space to sit. There is also the option of taking away your meal. Wish more hospitality business were so authentic has Tasty Noodle. But, in fact, we just have this one, and we must appreciate it.

Not your typical Chinese outlet, this restaurant serves very tasty handmade noodle and very good fried dumplings. I moved out of this area a while ago and I still make take a huge detour to takeaway from there. Totally worth it.

The name of the restaurant is not misleading at all - TASTY NOODLES INDEED (plus they have wifi so what more can you ask for)!

I went recently for dinner and very impressed, although inside seating is limited the overall experience is great with the most authentic chinese food I have had outside of China! So many great choices on the menu, I will be back many times for sure!

Honest food - delicious and good value.

お店はヌードルとなっていますが、麺が充実した普通の中華料理屋さん。オールドタウンから少し離れただけなので、そんなに不便じ ゃ無い。日本人にもなじみ深い回鍋肉や麻婆豆腐もあり、この点でも楽しめるレストランでした。メインの麺は、少しテイストが変わったスープ麺。麺自体は日本のうどんに近いのですが、乗っている具がトマトが入った洋風お鍋といった感じ。お鍋のシメを食べる感じで頂けました。

Food is affordable and cones quickly. More amazing when you consider that it's only one guy operating everything.

Great fried noodles and pork dumplings!!

Tiny sparse place which feels like you are eating in someone's kitchen, however that's part of its charm. You are right next to the kitchen and can smell and see dishes being churned out which all look great. Everything i tried was like home cooked simple and straight forward Chinese food. I also like the fact it sticks to noodles and dumplings instead of trying to cook everything. This is a no thrills straight forward place i would definitely return to. Also every table had a big pot of chili oil (the proper stuff with all the seeds in, not the usuless red oil stuff) and a big bottle of Chinese vinegar. That's all you need for noodles and dumplings. Great place and not too expensive.

Realmente auténtico agujero en la pared restaurante chino. Los precios son geniales el servicio rápido y eficiente. No esperábamos una cena elegante o una cena romántica, pero si quieres un plato de sopa de fideos veef satisfactorio o algunos hechos a mano sin vaciar su cartera bolas - este es el lugar para estar!

Cada vez que he ido a sido su sabroso fideos una experiencia fantástica comida. Nunca dejar decepcionados, la única razón por la cual le doy 4 estrellas en vez de 5 es porque cuando estuve allí el mes pasado con mis amigos me sentía como cada plato de carne y verduras menos de lo habitual. Además de ser difícil de preguntar sobre la comida debido a la barrera del idioma. Es un lugar donde vas a tener gran fideos, si un restaurante con lo peaky parece quizás no será su lugar, pero puedo asegurar que parece son engañosas, especialmente cuando se trata de fideos sabroso.

Este lugar no es para todo el mundo, pero me encanta, voy allí prácticamente cada vez que tengo hambre. En primer lugar, es más de un agujero en la pared de un restaurante café y la mayoría de los platos principales son de 6 libras. 50 Así ajustar sus expectativas en consecuencia. El chico que sale es muy bonito, pero no hablan mucho inglés, así que no podrás preguntar sobre platos en detalle. La apuesta más segura es la sopa de fideos de ternera para que él hace un caldo muy bueno por huesos de cocina por horas. También tengo el número 9 que es con carne y fideos con vinagre pak choi chile. Si me apetece arroz tengo la berenjena picante y carne de cerdo, que creo que es un plato tradicional de Sichuan. Si quieres probar algo auténtico, este es el lugar y no mucho de un riesgo a 10 libras por cabeza.

Visité sabrosos fideos en una noche de viernes, en busca de algo de comida china deliciosa y auténtica. El restaurante en sí es pequeña, pero puede acomodar a 16 personas cómodamente.

My friend introduced me to this place. I have to admit I had never heard of it, but now I'm definitely considering it as an option when I feel like noodles! I had king prawn noodles and my friend had a seafood soup. Both well cooked and very nice. The service was ok. If you're looking for a fine dining restaurant this place is not for you. But if you're looking for good asian food then Tasty Noodle is definitely worth a visit!

I popped in here yesterday for a late night dinner and I have to say I wasn't disappointed with the food. I ordered prawn fried noodles which came with onion and bean sprout, although it was very light on the vegetables. The food was average and filling, but asking any questions was a total no-go. I shan't return.

We have to go to the Tasty noodle every time when we visit Edinburgh. Our local friends were recommend this restaurant to us a few years back, and we have been visited ever since! We tried every dishes in the menu (although there is a new menu come up this year with more choices!) and we love every dishes! My first favorite dish is the cold beef with chilli oil - it melt in my mouth! The food is more like a 5 star restaurant choice, and every time I can't believe that how much cost that we have to pay when the bill comes! What a great price! This will be one of my favorite restaurant in Scotland.
