Ordered a home delivery while on holiday. Firstly surprised it was cash on delivery - had to scrape around between us for enough. Delivery then took forever - despite 2 phone calls to chase it up it took 90 minutes from ordering online. We nearly cancelled (I suppose the one advantage of cash), but glad we didn't as the food was actually excellent. Large portions, lots of chunky vegetables in the rice dishes, rich and tasty curries. All correct and piping hot.

Sadly they can’t get many “walk-ins” here, as the appearance from the outside isn’t at all welcoming. It looks like some sort of bunker on a council estate. (see photo). They may as well put up a sign saying “Do Not Enter!” Luckily we did; to find inside, a well-appointed dining area (though admittedly with no outside views). Perhaps that was the reason why there was only one other couple eating. Such a shame, as the food deserves to be widely appreciated. It’s that good. There is a no-frills laminated menu of the basic kind, which reminded me of my past life of regular visits to Brick Lane in London, or indeed India itself. Thankfully, the authenticity extended to the food as well. We ordered off the quite short Nepalese Specialities section. Both main dishes (we had only pappadoms for starters) were superb. Unlike anything we’ve had in Devon & Cornwall. A real home-cooking feel; it seemed the spices and herbs etc. were cooked and prepared in the kitchen, not merely covered with bought-in sweet sauces and powders as one often encounters. Even the two sides (chick pea and mushroom bhajis) were so different and full of a variety of textures and tastes. They were almost meals on their own! My wife had the Gurkhali Chicken and I had the Momo Lamb. Both were really plentiful and quite superb. The chicken was fried in a mild rolled Flour ; the lamb was 10 mini dumplings served with a hot dipping sauce. Fantastic! Unlike anything I’ve eaten in a long time and I can’t wait to try again. The Peas Pulao were a lovely accompaniment too. Washed down with some lovely Kathmandu Lagers (a little warm) and diet cokes, the bill, with service was great value at £64. (Without starters, we still needed “doggie bags” to take home with us.) All I can say is, ignore the frontage; try something other than the usual suspects (listed under “British Traditional Dishes” and enjoy genuine homemade food that is something different and extremely tasty! In addtion both the greeter and the shy, but highly efficient waitress only added to a wonderfully calm and enjoyable meal. We'll certainly be returning.

We visited Kashmiri Karahi today with family for a small gathering. I could not fault the experience, from the lavish interior redecoration to the delectable food. The mixed grill came piping hot on the new sizzlers and it tasted divine. Additionally, customer service provided by our waitress Surekha was top tier she ensured all of our needs were met and tended to us with a lovely smile. The facilities were well maintained and overall I can’t recommend the experience enough and will be returning again with friends.

The food was old, cold and crusty. Was so not worth the £21pp! Majority of the options were empty so there was even less to choose from! My partner raved so much about this restaurant but he swears it’s gone down hill so much and will not be returning.

What a pity! The food was great however…. My wife and I had come to the UK 🇬🇧 to visit our son and wife and two grandchildren. As we had not seen them in a long time we decided to go out for our first dinner together in Winchester. The evening was so amazing catching up on the present and reminiscing on the past. We had not yet finished eating our dinner when we noticed a change in the atmosphere of the establishment. The staff were hurrying around cleaning and packing away stuff! and making it known that they were getting ready to close. Suddenly one staff member swooped in and took our side dish away without confirming that we were indeed finished. There was an exchange of words however when confronting that person afterwards to clarify why we were so offended there was no real sincere apology. We still had wine to finish as well. When a patron spends money in your establishment and the occasion is special to them surely you don’t chase them out with this poor behaviour! There is more to running a business than just making money 💰. Try some human emotion and service. Just a thought.

We stopped at Moto Reading for a quick bite and I wanted something else than a burger from the usual sources. This was the first time for me to try out Chow and their katsu chicken was a pleasant surprise. They are not going to put high end restaurants out of business, but you get a healthier alternative to the burger places on their left and right. I would have preferred it with a large amount of veggies, but all in all it was a decent portion of a good curry with friendly service. They also sell sushi; that's for next time.
