Buffet Island in Brighton and Hove

Absolutely lovely food, great variety, and desserts too. Brilliant price. Very popular car park busy and full. Limited to an hour and a half for two people or two hours for three or more. Which tells you how successful it is. I'm definitely going again and would definitely recommend if you like Chinese food 😀

We have been a couple a times to Buffet Island. Went with family and friends. Odd time food can be warm. Food is quickly topped up once emptied. The service was ok. We had to ask for water twice as no one came. Other that it was good.

My family's favourite place to go. Let it be birthday or just a weekend family eat out, you will not be disappointed. The food is always very nice and fresh with a wide selection, while the prices are very reasonable. Best buffet restaurant in Birmingham.

The place isn’t bad but the food was absolutely disgusting will never eat from a buffet again the chicken was hard the curry sauce was like water and tasted off the only good thing was noodles but how could you possibly do noodles wrong !

Very busy, waiting for even a booked table. However, staff are apologetic and are really considerate. The food was lovely and seating area spacious and clean.

It's been a long time since I have visited but, definitely improved. More like a restaurant than a canteen now. Good range of food, will not leave it so long for the next visit.

So it's the first time in years I visited this place, it's changed a lot. Amazing food & Service. Staff are super friendly & very welcoming. Restaurant looks very clean & the food area is spotless. Food is hot as well which makes all the difference. There was a problem with some customers kicking off with each other but the Staff sorted it out the best they could. Then after came around & apologised for the noise. The customers should if apologised not the Staff. Will most certainly visit this Buffet Island again... Thank you to the Management & Staff...

Quite cold in there. No warm plates to put food on. Food wasn't hot, some dishes very chewy. A number of dishes on the website weren't available eg crispy seaweed. Children in large parties were throwing food on the floor and overfilling plates, then leaving it. Staff were a bit slow clearing plates from tables. Won't be returning.

Lots of choices.................... the food 🍲 was absolutely delicious 😋 well worth the money 💷. Went with my son and grandson. Atmosphere was lovely and premise was clean. Will definitely recommend eating here such polite and helpful friendly members of staff............

We went today at lunchtime Sunday (21st) January, a lot more options this time as compared to the previous lunchtime visits and everything was really nice, tasty and fresh! No waiting for things to be filled up and the back bit was open, offering stir-fry and crepes for dessert! The service was great, and the girl that was doing the table service was lovely. 10/10 for our visit today!

It's gone downhill. Staff are rude, The food is boring and overpriced. I wouldnt recommend it unless you want the next day on the toilet dealing with yesterday's greasey mess. 0/10. I wont be going again!

Food was out of this world and the ribs........so delious. Staff very polite and helpful. Will certainly be going there again.

Food was lovely for buffet the only issue was the two waitresses who stood 1m from me and my gf table starting at us and chatting away…their conversation was louder than ours and they did this the whole hour so we sped up desert as it made us feel uncomfortable at that point !! maybe they thought we wasn’t going to pay or they found our date amusing treating us like a little show to watch but yeah ur at work babes not college…

Buffet all you can eat style. Impressed by the range of dishes available. The service was excellent. Would definitely go again.

Lots of delicious vegetarian options

A great place to go with a family, a small group, or a large group (this time we went as a group of 17 ranging from aged 3 - 71! on New Year's Eve.) Everybody enjoyed themselves. The food was good quality as always, and although it was busy, our plates were cleared away quickly and regularly. Thoroughly enjoyed the Tepanyaki, and the children (and grown ups) loved the ice cream machine 😃

Brilliant void, every dish just perfect. Staff very attentive, quickly removing used plates. Great choice of food, starters, mains and dessert. Highly recommended.

Food was nice although some dishes are very spicy. Took over half an hour to be seated which isn't there fault if its busy it's busy I get that.

FLIED RICE -- Fly in the rice, a fly that didn't fly, possible from a maggot, Didn't want to kick up a fuss due to being with partners family, I think they felt the same and staff just apologised and never even offered to reduce the bill or a complimentary drink to wash down the maggots or 🪰. I felt so sick, so sick for days, I was excited for my food and then that. Fuming! Absolutely disgusting!

I used to go here fairly regularly and the food would be great. But recently their food is really mid (terrible). The sushi is dry as if it's been leftover for a few days. The food is typical Chinese buffet food but somehow slightly worse and one of the salads at the salad bar says Vietnamese salads but what I saw there did not resemble Vietnamese salad whatsoever. Drinks are overpriced and take really long to come out.

The food is awful but the actual service is amazing. The place seemed rushed like a feeding pen and it's completely overpriced especially the drinks.

Poor quality food, even for a buffet!

Absolutely the last time we visit here. As a family of 6 we were shocked this time that my 10 year old was charged an adult price of £20! How can a child be charged the same price as an adult when they’re not even near a teenager. Terrible! And then our children were repeatedly chastised not to waste puddings… over and over again by the staff. We wouldn’t mind paying if the food was worth it. We enjoy eating out, but none of us enjoyed anything there. Dry awful tasting meat, bland and tasteless. Dishes tasted like they had been reheated over and over. We found numerous hairs all over the serving areas too, not impressed this time and we won’t be visiting again. Barely any selection and not worth the money you pay!

Always great service and amazing quality of food, A good selection of hot and fresh food to choose from, they also have a good choice of Sushi, a crepe bar and a teppanyaki bar Money spent well and I do visit here often

The guy on the counter was trying to time me and my boy. He said you don't have a booking so you can only stay for 1 hour. Completely bizarre to be timed for a paid dinner

Experience.... Like a cattle market!!!!! Rushed throughout. 15 of us attended to celebrate a join 21st. As we only booked for 10 and needed an extra 5 seats we were asked to pay on entrance to secure the seats. Due to queuing up to pay we got to our table 20 mins later than booked. Just under 1 hour into the meal of 1.5 hours the staff kept coming up to the lead booker. At 1st they were reminding us that they wanted the table by the stated time. Then as the time got closer they began hurrying us along. The manager saw our dismay & agreed to give us more time... The more time was an extra 10 mins, before they came buzzing around us like busy bees telling us that they had people waiting who needed the table. Our whole meal experience was ruined. I felt like I was prison visit, not an enjoyable meal, at £20 per head. Shocking treatment and experience for what they charge! AVOID if you want quality time and an enjoyable experience and to feel like your custom matters.

The staff were welcoming and the restaurant was clean and tidy ,the food was tasty and varied from salads ,sushi to fried rice and lots of mains , the tables were cleared quickly,the only fault I found was it was very very loud and lots of children running wild dangerous for people carrying hot food ,a lovely place good value for money well worth a visit

Chinese buffets can be very hit and miss but this one is definitely a hit. No frills interior but a good selection of well prepared dishes.

Great place overall its good price for a buffet offers a large variety of dishes very friendly staff and it has the price for the money dates birthday parties or anything could be a great reason to go there over great exspirience will come here again👍👍❤

Great Chinese buffet. One of the best. Recommend. Good variety of vegetable and meat dishes, including salad bar, soup, ribs, duck and prawns. Nice range of desserts including cakes, chocolate fountain and ice-cream. Child friendly. Easy on site parking although can be a bit tight. Friendly staff. Good casual atmosphere.

This place although very busy food wasn't all that. Most of it was overcooked or not fresh.

2 people paid 50 for 2 drinks and 2 all you can eat I feel like half the restaurant was missing only serving very basic Chinese food with a couple English options Nothing was amazing I wouldn't recommend The rice was ok Pork was ok And chiken wings was good Everything else please look at ways to keep it fresh or just overall make it better Very disappointed

Why not call it Chinese islands or 1/4 Chinese menu with soft serve it's was a joke and for the price rip off

I've been coming here for years. My old rating was 5 stars simply because the food is great and it was a reasonable price. But they've been jacking the prices up every now and again over the past few years and it's getting ridiculous. Anyone over 9 years old has to pay adult prices... on what planet is a 10 year old classed as an adult? My 10 year old probably has one plate of food and a bit of dessert and he's done. No way is he eating £20 worth of food! Surely adult prices should start from 15 years old... Extortion to get every last penny out of their customers.

Not a huge place , just nice. Reasonably priced and the food was lush. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would definitely go again.

Been here many times. Good food always hot and fresh. Clean restaurant every single time and nice staff to who constantly keep the tables clear of used plates etc. Only thing I’d like to see is a separate family area for those with young children as sometimes they can be a little noisy which can’t be helped, however some of us chose to not of had children for that reason so shouldn’t be forced to sit trying to relax listening to them. Other than that it’s a great place

Really excellent Chinese food. Buffet Chinese can be a bit cheap on the flavour side and choice, but this place had everything you could think of. It was plentiful, hot and delicious. Deserts were great too. Looking forward to coming back in the future.

I enjoyed everything I had from the buffet. The food was all nice and hot and there was a really good selection. I suppose my only comment is that we found the ambience quite loud, which made chatting with our fellow diners a little difficult. That said, we really enjoyed our meal.

Have been going for many years. Food good value. Only Chinese buffet in the area now as others have closed.

Good variety of dishes. Definitely coming back again, because most of the stuff I tried was up to my liking.

Put the prices up taken food off the menu. Chicken was dry the broccoli was brown will not be eating there again vile 😫

The food we had was good but did find that there were delays in some items being replaced and ice cream machine was out of order. The staff were friendly and ensured plates were regularly collected from table and drink orders dealt with when requested. There was music playing but as it was so busy and noisy it just seemed to add to the overall noise and not really add to the atmosphere. The one major complaint was the ladies toilets, they were all either blocked or unusable due to being so dirty. Even a staff member stated how bad they all were when they went to use them and said they would get someone to sort them, but they really shouldn't have all got to the point of being unusable.

We booked ahead and were 10 minutes late so they'd given our table away when we arrived and made us wait. We sat for 15 mins and went and asked someone else how much longer it would be and were called straight through. There were lots of empty tables so not sure why we were made to wait. Maybe it was a Sunday evening thing but they clearly get to a certain point where they decide not to refresh the buffet so at 7.30 we found half the dishes were finished and there was little choice. For example there was shredded duck but no pancakes. There were chicken balls but no sweet and sour sauce. What we did have was average. Just to add to this, the drinks we ordered failed to arrive. Puddings had all gone except for chocolate fountain and ice cream machine which our 4 year old enjoyed. Overall poor service, terrible food and not worth the 100 spent for 4 adults and a child. Not been there for years and would never go again.

The food was pretty tasty although also quite heavy, I couldn't have a lot of it. There weren't many desert options available and I feel like it's quite pricey with £19 per person.

The food was great here , quick service as soon as your plate is empty they take it away , the only thing that wasn't great was it was raining really heavy and the rain was coming through 2 of the lights so the building definitely needs work

Good food hot with good variety service was excellent

Awesome little buffet with great Chinese options. Was happily stuffed by the end of the night. Table service isn't 100%, was waiting a while to get drinks. However, you can go up to the bar (which I only realised near the end of my meal). Would 100% return.

Went during weekend lunch. There was not much food choices but the customer service was great. I need to try out dinner. For a reason Sat lunch is cheap.

好多選擇眼花撩亂，有好多正常喺Chinese takeaway 既餸菜都係個到搵到，好多餸如果冇晒嘅話都會即時refill ，保證新鮮滾熱辣😀 比較推薦既有 salt and pepper prawn, sour plum duck, shredded beef, sweet and sour pork 等等。甜品方面啲蛋糕都可以一試☺️ 呢度特別之處係仲有三文魚刺身，當然唔好expect好高質但係喺英國既standard 黎講都叫ok ge 😀

The place seems to have dropped in quality over the years, unfortunately. The food is now just okay, not bad or amazing.

I will use any excuse to go and eat here. Today was my birthday so the family took me to my favourite restaurant. The food is always amazing, there's loads to choose from and as it's all you can eat it's well worth the money. Eat your heart out literally.
