Buffet Island in Brighton and Hove

Was really quiet ..food just warm .. was desperate for food n drink reason why we went here ..its not worth the money especially the food is always just warm

It is one of the few restaurants in central England that serves salmon sashimi. Other food is mainly Chinese hot plates, which taste good. Only the parking spaces are narrow and less hygienic.

The food was really tasty. Very wide selection of all the classics, each dish was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of rich flavours, very tender and juicy.

Nice place but it felt a little unorganised not enough cutlery on the table and in a half empty restaurant they decided to seat me by the toilets. No notice that the chocolate fountain would turn off so we were disappointed we couldn’t get that. The food was pretty good but what ruined it for me is that I had two marshmallows and I felt terrible after eventually getting sick. Good food just stay away from the desert

Great selection of food. Everything is self-serve, which they could technically do a drinks service - but it was a great atmosphere to celebrate my nephews birthday.

Quality of food not as good as it was few years ago. Tastes a lot cheaper with less variety. Restaurant was really quiet so not much atmosphere. Average value for money

Came here for my nieces birthday I know it's a buffet but there isn't much room to move with all the tables been squished together. The chicken balls tasted abit odd but the rest of the food I tried was nice .. sweet and sour chicken was really nice. And the jelly and ice cream haven't had this for years that was lovely.

Charge any child over 10 as an adult. I asked for 2 adults and 2 children on entry they said nothing and showed us to our table. When we left they charged for 3 adults and 1 child. Treating any child over 10 as an adult is ridiculous, basically paid £20.00 for my child to have a few chicken nuggets. Sneaky, and not clear on pricing.

Really enjoyed this chinese buffet, lots to choose from. Went on a weekday evening. It was busy, but the table layout didn't make you feel cramped.

Food decent . Best dish was king Prawns! Great selection of food . Friendlyl staff! One of the better Buffets I have visited! 23 pounds with a pint of Stella!

The food is diverse and delicious, including salmon sashimi. There will be a cake and birthday song played on the birthday! The floor is not very clean and can be improved

Really good food the only thing I would change is they use to do satay skewers that was amazing. Apart from that and a bot of a wait for the table there was plenty of food. For as busy as it was you didn't feel like you had to que for anything with was nice and the price wasn't too expensive either :)

This is a nice place; however, being a customer for the last few years, the food has always been the same.

First timer and I'll definitely go again. Lots of delicious food options. The area was constantly kept clean. I only had a problem with the drink menu, I think more options should be added. But in all, I had a great time!!

All you can eat for £18. Plus dessert and ice cream. Drinks cost extra. Water is free. Plenty of choices for vegetarians. Hot spicy and mild Asian taste.

Went out with workmates on a Saturday, unfortunately food wasn't as good as I remembered. Was better when I went with my mom for lunch the one day during the week and with my dad also on the Saturday for dinner. Hadn't been to Buffet Island for several years and yet have been 3 times this year. Everybody that knows well enough when the Boss Lady is there on Saturday everything is usually great I.e Sevice, food. She wasn't there this time around. The staff was taking plates quite regular at first but then became sloppy after a while I.e finished plates left for over 20 mins etc. I also asked for a jug of water and glasses twice each to different staff. And it took a third time for my one workmate to ask who is always firm to say and ask for things lol. Not in a hurry to go back this time but will probably go again next year sometime for lunch. Don't think the more expensive dinner is worth it. As it seems you don't get that much more options then at lunch

The food is average and there are few types of fruits. From an Asian perspective, the food is more suitable for Western tastes. The restaurant has a beautiful appearance but is slightly dilapidated. The indoor atmosphere is gloomy, as if it was renovated from an old bar. There are steps between the indoor dining area and the food area, which may make movement more difficult for people with mobility issues. The price is not cheap, and drinks are charged separately. The bathroom doesn't smell bad but it doesn't feel clean either. There are enough parking spaces. The overall feeling is average.

Fund it on Google maps, looks like a pub from outside but definitely a good place and affordable

We came to Buffet Island to celebrate a family members birthday, there was quite a few of us and we were treated so well. We had booked a couple of weeks prior to our visit to be on 'the flat' as there was a couple of a party that have mobility issues. We were shown to our seats straight away and a drinks order taken, they arrived promptly. We helped ourselves to the food buffet and empty plates were taken straight away which was great. The waiters and waitresses were so attentive and friendly, they couldn't do enough for us. The food was beautiful and piping hot, there was so much choice! Thank you so much to the whole team at Buffet Island, we will definitely be back and would highly recommend to everyone! Thank you!

Been twice now when passing past on m6. Well worth the diversion to get food. Food is all brilliant, all hot and topped up regularly. One of the best all you can eats I have been.

Went for lunch with my husband and the kids, good amount of choice, food was absolutley delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient and the place was nice and clean. Reasonable pricing too. My son when leaving said he know's what heaven feels like now.

Haven't been here for a few years. came here once and food was just average, hardly anything there, just scrapping the bottom of the bottom. the only time staff was helpful is when they was taking your money.

We had booked a table and not informed they closed at 3pm. There was hardly any selection so you can't go by the menu on there website. We should have had 2 hours but had to leave after 1 hour.

Absolutely lovely food, great variety, and desserts too. Brilliant price. Very popular car park busy and full. Limited to an hour and a half for two people or two hours for three or more. Which tells you how successful it is. I'm definitely going again and would definitely recommend if you like Chinese food 😀

We have been a couple a times to Buffet Island. Went with family and friends. Odd time food can be warm. Food is quickly topped up once emptied. The service was ok. We had to ask for water twice as no one came. Other that it was good.

The place isn’t bad but the food was absolutely disgusting will never eat from a buffet again the chicken was hard the curry sauce was like water and tasted off the only good thing was noodles but how could you possibly do noodles wrong !

Very busy, waiting for even a booked table. However, staff are apologetic and are really considerate. The food was lovely and seating area spacious and clean.

It's been a long time since I have visited but, definitely improved. More like a restaurant than a canteen now. Good range of food, will not leave it so long for the next visit.

So it's the first time in years I visited this place, it's changed a lot. Amazing food & Service. Staff are super friendly & very welcoming. Restaurant looks very clean & the food area is spotless. Food is hot as well which makes all the difference. There was a problem with some customers kicking off with each other but the Staff sorted it out the best they could. Then after came around & apologised for the noise. The customers should if apologised not the Staff. Will most certainly visit this Buffet Island again... Thank you to the Management & Staff...

Quite cold in there. No warm plates to put food on. Food wasn't hot, some dishes very chewy. A number of dishes on the website weren't available eg crispy seaweed. Children in large parties were throwing food on the floor and overfilling plates, then leaving it. Staff were a bit slow clearing plates from tables. Won't be returning.

We went today at lunchtime Sunday (21st) January, a lot more options this time as compared to the previous lunchtime visits and everything was really nice, tasty and fresh! No waiting for things to be filled up and the back bit was open, offering stir-fry and crepes for dessert! The service was great, and the girl that was doing the table service was lovely. 10/10 for our visit today!

It's gone downhill. Staff are rude, The food is boring and overpriced. I wouldnt recommend it unless you want the next day on the toilet dealing with yesterday's greasey mess. 0/10. I wont be going again!

Food was lovely for buffet the only issue was the two waitresses who stood 1m from me and my gf table starting at us and chatting away…their conversation was louder than ours and they did this the whole hour so we sped up desert as it made us feel uncomfortable at that point !! maybe they thought we wasn’t going to pay or they found our date amusing treating us like a little show to watch but yeah ur at work babes not college…

Buffet all you can eat style. Impressed by the range of dishes available. The service was excellent. Would definitely go again.

Lots of delicious vegetarian options

A great place to go with a family, a small group, or a large group (this time we went as a group of 17 ranging from aged 3 - 71! on New Year's Eve.) Everybody enjoyed themselves. The food was good quality as always, and although it was busy, our plates were cleared away quickly and regularly. Thoroughly enjoyed the Tepanyaki, and the children (and grown ups) loved the ice cream machine 😃

Brilliant void, every dish just perfect. Staff very attentive, quickly removing used plates. Great choice of food, starters, mains and dessert. Highly recommended.

Food was nice although some dishes are very spicy. Took over half an hour to be seated which isn't there fault if its busy it's busy I get that.

FLIED RICE -- Fly in the rice, a fly that didn't fly, possible from a maggot, Didn't want to kick up a fuss due to being with partners family, I think they felt the same and staff just apologised and never even offered to reduce the bill or a complimentary drink to wash down the maggots or 🪰. I felt so sick, so sick for days, I was excited for my food and then that. Fuming! Absolutely disgusting!

I used to go here fairly regularly and the food would be great. But recently their food is really mid (terrible). The sushi is dry as if it's been leftover for a few days. The food is typical Chinese buffet food but somehow slightly worse and one of the salads at the salad bar says Vietnamese salads but what I saw there did not resemble Vietnamese salad whatsoever. Drinks are overpriced and take really long to come out.

The food is awful but the actual service is amazing. The place seemed rushed like a feeding pen and it's completely overpriced especially the drinks.

Poor quality food, even for a buffet!

Absolutely the last time we visit here. As a family of 6 we were shocked this time that my 10 year old was charged an adult price of £20! How can a child be charged the same price as an adult when they’re not even near a teenager. Terrible! And then our children were repeatedly chastised not to waste puddings… over and over again by the staff. We wouldn’t mind paying if the food was worth it. We enjoy eating out, but none of us enjoyed anything there. Dry awful tasting meat, bland and tasteless. Dishes tasted like they had been reheated over and over. We found numerous hairs all over the serving areas too, not impressed this time and we won’t be visiting again. Barely any selection and not worth the money you pay!

The guy on the counter was trying to time me and my boy. He said you don't have a booking so you can only stay for 1 hour. Completely bizarre to be timed for a paid dinner

Experience.... Like a cattle market!!!!! Rushed throughout. 15 of us attended to celebrate a join 21st. As we only booked for 10 and needed an extra 5 seats we were asked to pay on entrance to secure the seats. Due to queuing up to pay we got to our table 20 mins later than booked. Just under 1 hour into the meal of 1.5 hours the staff kept coming up to the lead booker. At 1st they were reminding us that they wanted the table by the stated time. Then as the time got closer they began hurrying us along. The manager saw our dismay & agreed to give us more time... The more time was an extra 10 mins, before they came buzzing around us like busy bees telling us that they had people waiting who needed the table. Our whole meal experience was ruined. I felt like I was prison visit, not an enjoyable meal, at £20 per head. Shocking treatment and experience for what they charge! AVOID if you want quality time and an enjoyable experience and to feel like your custom matters.

The staff were welcoming and the restaurant was clean and tidy ,the food was tasty and varied from salads ,sushi to fried rice and lots of mains , the tables were cleared quickly,the only fault I found was it was very very loud and lots of children running wild dangerous for people carrying hot food ,a lovely place good value for money well worth a visit
