He estado varias veces y la comida no me decepcionó.

Having used this Restaurant for the past 10 years when Terry had it and then again once it was sold to the current owners some three or four years ago. Last time we went was for my birthday last year. Was very disappointed and decided not to use it again. However we were looking for somewhere to eat yesterday and saw a post on Facebook giving Oriental Village a good review. So thought we'd give it another go. Although it was fairly quiet we ordered our starters with some trepidation however we were pleasantly surprised they arrived hot and very tasty. We then ordered the main and was equally as pleased. We shall definitely return and hopefully the Oriental Village is back on track and will surpass everyone's expectations. Well done. Glad we took the chance again

Went on a girls night out. The best I could say about the food was that some of it was cooked. The chicken satay was served hot but was very salty. The duck and half the pancakes were cold. The main course was edible but not much flavour. Had to ask repeatedly for drinks and was then charged for more drinks then were served. Service was appalling and the staff just kept asking if we wanted more drinks. Took 2.5 hours to be served starters, couple of pancakes and duck and a main course. No atmosphere or background music. Not worth the money!!!

Having eaten at The Oriental Village for a number of years we visited for a friend's birthday. I ordered my usual combination of salt & pepper squid, sweet & sour king prawn and chicken chow mien. We immediately noticed a difference in presentation. The squid included a garnish that hadn't been part of the dish before as well as freshly chopped red chilli. These additions made a real difference. This standard was repeated throughout our meal. When asked if we were enjoying our food we were then told that they now have a new chef. The food has always been nice but their new chef clearly takes pride not just in the cooking but the presentation also. All sauces are prepared to order from fresh ingredients. It really shows. A couple of minor issues with service but overall a wonderfully food experience from start to finish. We will return!

Food is great, never have to wait long and when it turns up we can t wait to tuck in. My wife and I went here for dinner on Saturday the 30th of May.....She had been before with her friends and said it was nice,so I trusted her judgement as she knows I can be a bit fussy at times. We were greeted and shown to our table...ordered our drinks. Which was the first of many frustrations,I had water my wife had pimms and lemonade. The waitress came over to ask again what my wife wanted and then the manager came over and asked what she wanted. While we were waiting for our drinks another waiter asked if he could take our drinks order.....seriously I thought front of house staff communicate. We ordered mixed ordorvies,it wasn't anything to write home about...Luke warm and greasy. Then we ordered duck, which was cold and the pancakes were stuck together......We then ordered a selection of the main course dishes...as we like to share. It tasted the same, very bland and lacking in colour as well as flavour.I kept saying to my wife this is a bit of a sideshow,as the manager/owner was shouting at one of the waiters in full view of all the other diners in the restaurant. He looked very embarrassed then after about 20 minutes the chap walked out,I was tempted to follow him. I for one won't be returning, food was rubbish, staff friendly but unprofessional. All in all a waste of my time and most importantly my hard earned cash.

A smart restaurant with friendly staff, but serving very westernised Asian food, and for people who don't like chilli. Compared to most places which do all you can eat buffet food, the quality is much better, and as you order from a menu at your table, there is a huge range. It's also a nicer experience. For the lunchtime buffet, you do get a huge amount of food for £15.99. But sadly it isn't like real Asian food. Most things also seem to be sugary and sweet, even the crispy seaweed. If you want Asian style food without chilli and other 'foreign' flavours, this is the place to go. But if you want authentic Asian food, give it a miss.

The restaurant is in need of TLC as and attention to detail as the walls needed a lick of paint, there were cobwebs, the menus were stuck together with Sellotape. We like to give local business a chance but this one is worth a miss. The starter we ordered the waitress got the order wrong and offered to take it away as we don't like waste we said we would keep it and ate 3/4. Then we ordered our mains which we ate all but one dish as it tasted "off" so we asked to order another dish, at this point we were told we would HAVE to pay for this dish on top of all you can eat price because of the waste. We were not asked if there was a reason we had not finish it. We were not asked if we had eaten in the restaurant before or if we understood the principle of restaurant. The waitress was more interested it watching the TV show on very loudly on her iPad with her back to the restaurant I am aware that there were only four people in the restaurant, but the two members of staff in the room to both be looking at electronic devices, meant I had to get up from the table to ask for what we needed. When we queried the fact we were being told we had to pay extra we had both members of staff putting there hands in our faces saying we had to pay, and they even said they were not interested it what we had to say as we were just there to pick fault, which we were not, we were there for a 'nice' meal. I'm sure that the service and food offered to us upset and ruined not only our evening but the other customers in the restaurant. We don't like to write bad reviews but this was beyond belief and when we said we would not pay they insisted we pay for half the food (the drinks we would expect to pay for) they even had the cheek to put the service charge on!This is an absolute disgrace of a restaurant and I have never been treated so badly in a restaurant. We both work in a hospitality customer service based industry and would never dream of treating customers the way we were treated this evening.Visit this restaurant at your peril or visit the take away a 5 min walk away called PHOENIX PALACE which is where we normally go but thought we would try all you can eat again...how stupid we feel for wasting our money especially when we were told "I do not wish to serve you again"!Don't worry you certainly won't!

Me and my partner ordered from here a couple of weeks ago and I was extremely disappointed,The food used to be really good here but the quality has since diminished,Our Chowmein was tasteless, the rice was overcooked and the rest we ordered was hardly better, especially when your paying 30% more then your would at another Chinese place. The food took ages to arrive yet there was no apologies when it finally arrived.Such a shame as this used to be a highly respected establishment but as I can see has clearly gone down hill,Overall it was a complete rip off for what we got and we will definitely not be ordering from here again!

We went for afternoon lunch and had the place to ourselves. The waiting staff were nothing short of lovely. We opted for the buffee which cost £16 a head, but you can order as much as we wish from their menu, stage by stage, so you select from the starters, then the main courses...its all soooo freshly cooked and having had many a chinese over the years i can honestly say from both of us this is the best chinese food by far we have ever had. The spicy chilli squid is incredible. Dont have a bad word to say about the place honestly try it!!

my partner and i dined several times here but not recently.we booked a table to celabrate our anniversary. MISTAKE. i understand it has changed hands.GONE are the tablecloths and ambience and decor. in place are bare tables making the place reminiscent of a cafe! we were the only people in there-- most unusual i thought but soon realised why!! starter was piping hot as though it had come out of a microwave and the spare ribs were very spare indeed. The thai red curry my partner had tasted terrible. the deep fried ice cream for desert had completely melted!! so disappointed. will never go again

I have been here a few times but not for about 5 years so was a bit wary on reading the reviews. We booked a table for 9pm as they were quite busy. On arrival a table was not ready so we sat on the outside chairs and were offered a complimentary drink. We did not wait long so that was a nice touch. The restaurant was very busy with large Birthday groups. I think if I was just with my husband it may have been really annoying as they were very loud. Maybe they need to warn you of this when booking. Saying that the service was very good seeing as they were so busy. House red wine was nice and a reasonable price. The food was lovely. Apart from giving us meat dishes when we were all veggies/pescatarians. Not a problem just changed. I would definitely go back but not for quiet meal !! Would rate as good but can't on here.

We were very surprised at the some of the bad reviews this restaurant has had as it does not match our experience. We have been coming here for several years and it is particularly good for large groups as you all pay the same whatever you eat. Although it has changed hands and some dishes are not quite the same, the choice is great and the portions are small, which is a good thing, so you can try lots, and ask for more of those you like best. We tend to try not to have too many starters as they fill us up too much. A lot of the dishes are Thai, not Chinese, and we particularly love the mussels in Black Bean Sauce. The crispy duck is delicious and the toffee banana with leaving room for. It is very good value for money and as good if not better than other similar restaurants in the Brighton/ Hove area. Much better than some of the buffet style ones as food is individually bought to you. Special occasions are celebrated with free balloons and cake!

Possibly the worst Chinese meal I have ever had.The food was so salty that it all tasted the same and some dishes felt suspiciously 'warmed up' in a microwave as they were piping hot to the point of burning yourself - not what you get when food is hot from an oven.Duck was so shredded it was like sand. All in all, just a horrible experience. I wont be going back

We've used the Oriental pretty much since it opened and its always been good value and the food always good quality and well presented. Whilst we noticed the change of management (we where friendly with the original owners for many years) it didn't seem to affect the service and quality we have come to expect. Our last trip was last month and we used a Groupon Voucher on a Saturday. I can honestly say it was as good as its ever been, food was usual high standard and service was good.We have never had anything but good service and food here, believe me if I felt otherwise I would reflect it here - so I stand by what I have said...

Me and my boyfriend came here both having loved it in past years. But unfortunately it had changed and is not the same anymore. Bought a groupon voucher and felt we got treated differently to others which shouldn't have been the case. Food portion and presentation and taste had all changed. And the staff didnt seem like they wanted to be there. A bit of a sour atmosphere. Won't be returning until I hear things have changed to the way it used to be.

if you're looking for Chinese food in Hove or Brighton.Oriental Village has smart modern decor, an eat-as-much-as-you like of oriental "tapas", charming and attentive staff all for an extremely reasonable price. They occasionally run deals with the voucher companies, but in all honesty their product is well worth paying full price for. We have been twice and we will be back.

We have been here before and would say the food is about the same. It is basically an all you can eat restaurant but served at your table. The place is quite modern and the service was good if a little impersonal. The portions are smaller but you can ask for more and it is a good way of trying a bit of everything. This is not top end Asian cuisine more like your local take away type food but it is tasty. Some dishes are better than others; we think the starters are better. I think some of the negative comments that have been posted about the food are a bit unjust. If you are a big eater its probable good value, but by the time 10% service is added and drinks, the bill can add up.

This establishment needs to up the ante in terms of its offering to keep up with the times. The food being served was akin to a 1970s Chinese restaurant. The waiting staff could offer more advice in terms of quantities to order. This is a set price 'eat all you want' menu, but the portions are so tiny that when our party ordered for six one each of five dishes, there was insufficient to go around. A bit of common sense please.

This will be 3rd review I have placed about this restaurant. We have been eating here for a few years and it was lovely. Last couple of years it's been terrible. We gave it one last shot 2 weeks ago and we won't be going back for a very long time. Nothing was the same as before. Food greasy or over cooked. Asked for a variation of the mixed starters and it all came out wrong. The butterfly chicken in breadcrumbs were so over cooked you could use them to repair your shoes! It's such a shame as we always loved t come here about once every 5 weeks. Spoke to someone as they were leaving and they asked what I thought of the meal and we both had the same opinion, rubbish!

We had been regularly going to Oriental Village for about five years, but I think new owners have taken over and everything has changed for the worse! The recipes which were delicious have been replaced with cheap substitutes which tasted fatty. On our last (ever) visit, there were no tablecloths on the table, the toilets were dirty, the plates were chipped and the waiter was less than helpful. This is such a shame as it clearly had the potential to be a fab restaurant, and now its just run down and bad tasting!

Have been going to the Oriental Village since it first opened, several years ago, and always enjoyed the ambience, the food, service and friendliness of the place. After a bit of a break went there again a few months ago and hardly recognised it as the same place. The waiters were not very friendly, and it was hard to get their attention. Found out that it had changed hands and Terry, a fantastic host, had gone back to China. Thought maybe the new owners were just having teething troubles, so tried it again a couple of weeks ago, and we thought it was awful. Slow, service. Ordered a selection of starters, and when it came along it looked as if it had all just been tipped willy nilly from a great height onto the plate. It was greasy, with lots of little batter bits, and at least 2 of our starters were missing. Also puzzling, was that although there were 2 of us eating, there were 3 pieces of each starter. The mains (when we finally managed to get the waiter's attention, were tiny and almost cold. They seem to have changed all the sauces, and not for the better. What a pity that it has gone so downhill. Also when we left, we happened to look up the alleyway which their kitchen backs on to, and although we can't blame anyone for the disgusting mess up there, it was further offputting and we definitely will not be eating there again.

Purchased a Groupon voucher for £15 for two people. The food was very terrible quality, tasteless, everything fried from frozen, everything had been soaked in oil. The waitresses had been clearly bored and robotic, so I was quite upset that I had to pay 10% service charge! Even with the discount voucher it was a complete waste of money! :(

i was apprehensive having read some of the reviews but I had a groupon voucher that needed to be used so I persuaded my son to join me and we went on a cold Monday evening. Apart from choosing the wrong place to sit as we got a cold draught from the door everything else was good. The food was good and the staff were pleasant and helpful. This restaurant gives you a great opportunity to try lots of different dishes at a good price.

Just returned home after enjoying an evening meal at the Oriental Village,Portslade. The restaurant was packed upon our arrival but our table was ready. We enjoyed the food. Service was excellent. Our only constructive comment would be that some of the food and plates could have been hotter, hence 4 not 5 star rating. We used our Groupon voucher which saved us loads of expense. Our friend Jenny ordered the Jasmine tea which looked and tasted fantastic - we had great fun watching the flower unwind. We will be back for more!

Some people have been really disappointed at them which I think it's not really fair coz it always been our favourite oriental restaurant!

After reading the latest reviews we were a bit apprehensive about our visit to the Oriental Village. But as soon as we arrived we were greeted very warmly and we changed to a table of our choice. We did have to ask how the menu worked and it was explained very well. The choices on the menu were fantastic. We were happy with all of our food served but, maybe could have done with a bit better presentation but i woudnt down score them on that.they were also good with our 4yr old and what she would like to eat as she of course wouldnt of had the all you can eatThey were very attentive to our needs and we would definatly go back. the food was amazing for us, so please give this place a chance after all the awful reviewsWe are looking forward to our next visit

Went here on a Monday lunchtime using a groupon voucher for their "all you can eat four course tapas menu". Waitress was initially fairly welcoming - my friend and I ordered a selection of starters which arrived within 5 minutes (we were the only people in the restaurant at that time). The prawn toast and thai prawn rolls were just about edible, but didn't really taste as if they had much prawn in. The chicken satay were lukewarm and we asked for them to be warmed up, but the waitress said she would get fresh ones. When the arrived they were hot, but they tasted pretty awful with a revolting tasting sauce and my friend didn't eat hers. The waitress was not at all happy about this, and my friend was "told off" for not eating it. The crispy duck wasn't too bad, although not particularly crispy and a bit bland tasting. The accompanying cucumber and spring onion looked like they had been prepared several days earlier. We ordered one main course each with a rice and noodle dish. These all arrived in small orange plastic bowls similar to the bowls I serve my cats their food in. We were not offered a plate to eat off and had to eat the food straight from these tiny bowls. The food was quite simply disgusting - we've both eaten in many oriental restaurants in the past and this was absolutely the worse we've both ever been served. I just about managed to eat my bean curd in thai spicy sauce and the plain rice, but my friend couldn't eat her chicken in black bean sauce, and again was told off quite harshly by the waitress for not finishing it. We weren't offered dessert but both wanted something to take the awful taste away of the previous dishes, and we asked for banana glazed in toffee. This was edible and tasted okay, but nothing special at all. The waitress left just before we finished our meal and gave us quite a dirty look as she walked out, leaving a colleague to give us our bill. Quite frankly, probably the worse restaurant I have ever eaten in. It was cold in there, the food was terrible and the waitress rude. Several hours later, feeling rather queasy, and haven't been able to face eating anything else today. Avoid at all costs.

I have been going to this restaurant with my Wife ever since we first started going out and easily over 7 years. It was always held in high regard - so much so that at one point we were going monthly it was our 'meal out'.However we went for the first time this year on Friday - having not been this year as it was poor the last time.I'm sorry to report it has not improved one iota. ALL the staff have changed; I actually was on recognition terms with the old staff. We ordered our mixed h'orderves off the bat with the drinks (after waiting AGES for service last time) oh dear was that a mistake. After seeing 2 tables full of people arrive after us and move from starters to mains before ours arrived I checked. They had lost the order. 40mins after arriving the starter arrived. The portions are considerably smaller than before, the recipes have changed - for example salt and pepper squid seemed to be devoid of salt. All of it was over cooked and COLD - quite a feat. The duck was dry and we were given half the number of pancakes we'd have gotten before leaving us with a surplus of duck. The disappointment didn't stop there. The main portions were also smaller, and were in a boiling hot bowl - but hardly warm themselves and smarted of a microwaved serving. All in all the service was poor, the food was poorer and we went home wanting. I doubt we will ever go back - I can however recommend the China Palace in Worthing which seems similar. (salt and pepper squid still isn't as good as it was at the OV tho :( )

Have enjoyed several takeaways from Oriental Village over many years, but the last two I have had have been tasteless. Tonights one though was so bad that I actually called them to complain. Tasteless, but also, the dishes I ordered should have been crispy, instead they had a peculiar glutinous, fatty texture, making most of it entirely inedible. The sweet and sour sauce was like vinegar, the crispy seaweed was soft and tasteless except for pure sugar, the prawn crackers were rubbery. When I called to tell them I was unhappy, they offered me 20% off my next order. I told them I expected at least £10 of the £25 I had spent back and they could pick up the food to see I had eaten very little of it if they wanted proof. They told me I would have to bring it back myself. I did this, meaning I had to bring my toddler out with me at 7pm on a rainy Sunday night. As we had agreed they would refund me £10, I was not expecting any further inquisition at the restaurant. It was a generous compromise on my part, giving them £15 effectively for about 4 salt and pepper squid, the only thing really edible and I was still being polite despite having to come out and then go home to start cooking. However, some little waiter guy then started arguing with me in the restaurant, trying to imply I am making it all up! Even though he could see I am standing there with my toddler and a full bag of their inedible food! The manager told me that sometimes it's just a case of 'bad luck'...well I hope they start to realise we live in difficult times and for a business to survive in the long run, it's going to have to do a lot better than this.

I get you’re not supposed to review for too good to go on here. As it’s probably not meant for it. But the sushi is bomb even for that. 4 quid for 14£ worth of sushi I got. Don’t listen to the 1 star reviews trashing this place for it. Those reviews should get removed because they don’t get how the app works. The sushi was amazing. reckon I’ll come here and try it properly. The katsu curry was only 7.50 not including student discount. Haven’t seen that any other place. Wish this place all the best 👌🏻

The food is tasty, but youthful and not very authentic. On the plus side, it's a spacious place with plenty of room and an interesting menu, but on the downside, they don't serve meals together, it's first come first served, so in practice each of the four of us ate separately.
