Lovely service, gave me free kimchi with my order as well so I can’t complain!

Between two topics I received a total of four small pieces of (dry and overcooked) chicken. Rice was mushy. Everything was on dire need of salt. Not nearly enough topping for the amount of rice they give. Have been to other Chows and it was much better.

I’m starting to become a bit of a connoisseur of these motorway Chinese foods 😂 this one was pretty good, the food was decent even though the portion was probably slightly smaller than in some of the others. There wasn’t a huge selection of sides either, no panko prawns but I was there at around 830 at night so it may have been bad timing. Overall though it was decent enough

Ordered lunch here for the first time, the sweet and sour sauce was really watery and chicken didn’t even look edible, took one bite and threw it away. For £8 (not including a drink I don’t think it’s worth it

Had a medium pot, it’s basically all rice with a few bits of chicken, paid £8 and only a few bits of chicken. Couldn’t see when he served it as he closed up the box but would have complained if I’d seen it before paying. No flavour either, really bad. Defo do not recommend!

I have to agree with the previous review left on here. A definite 'hit and miss' at this store when you make the mistake of purchasing a meal from here whilst hungry and tired. You end up never wanting to return based on the far from optimal service rendered here. The rice was 'undercooked' on one occasion and when I tried to simply relay what was a legit concern, I found the store Manager rude, VERY rude .... ! Simply NOT the kind of front of house manner one should have whilst a customer is speaking to you. Some of the young servers are pleasant and cordial. And I've enjoyed being served by them as also the food bought but again it's very 'hit and miss' as mentioned previously. The rest including the Manager needs to be sent on a crash course in Customer Service! [I was once charged 50%off the main meal but full price on the side of prawn, @£6.90/7 for four in the bag even tho' it was 10mins before closing. When I pointed out the inconsistency in pricing to the server, all he could do was shrug his shoulders. I didn't ask further, just paid for the main and left. You won't have many returning customers if you keep up with such impolite and inconsistent service. Also, cutting down on 'food wastage' is something food outlets need to consider and do their part to minimise the same. It's a 'VERY' ethical and moral thing to do. I've seen 'vats' of red/green curry just 'poured' into the bin. You'd rather bin a side order of prawn that's been sat on the hot plate all day than sell it to the customer, given you're about to shut. Make it make sense to me please, both from a business and ethical sense. Anyways, each to their own] I would think twice about purchasing another meal from here, for many a reason.

Red Thai chicken curry- They should learn to serve in proportions properly and talk to people who come exhausted. The curry though tasted ok was insufficient for the rice. lack of consistency in serving rice and curry was appalling. As a customer, I expected a balanced meal, but what I received left me thoroughly disappointed. When pointed out ,they were quite rude. The store manager apparently was very rude. I was explained they serve by portions. I understand that they serve by portions, but I believe it’s essential to maintain consistency in serving both rice and curry. I would personally not waste my time and won’t try here again.

Katsu was good but they served COLD steamed buns.

This was a surprise, really really good Thai green and red curry on noodles. Exceptional for a casual services stop, really cheered up our trip!

Food = meh Venue = sh!thole Set up somewhere else dude - surely you don't want your brand ruined by being associated with a place like this? Moto is the worst!

Staff had no knowledge of what vegan was. Asked for gyozas, he didn't ask what type and started cooking me chicken???

I had the Thai green curry with rice as I am Wheat intolerant. Very tasty. My server was happy and polite, and still the same after a fush of about 20 people.

did not understand the prices, they are alone and then you pay more because they add a tax of 20percent, and workers need to better understand English

Before I start, must say the service was lovely. Got a “kimchi salad” and it was very disappointing. For a start, it was room temperature to warm, and it doesn’t taste like kimchi much at all. Hardly spicy but heavy on the vinegar. It’s as if it’s just pickled cabbage from a supermarket with some chilli powder thrown on.

Good flavours but way overpriced. However it's a welcome alternative to standard motorway service 'food'. I love noodles so had to try it!

Called when visiting my girlfriend in Reading. Fantastic service with a smile, and food was perfect before a night out and a few Margherita cocktails.

Really nice food. But save yourself £4 and get the kids meal same size

Stopped off at M4 eastbound services & saw ur counter. Wasn't sure what to have, but Katherine, who was serving, gave me a recommendation of Thai Chicken. It was amazing. Great food & great service!

For motorway service station food this isn't too bad. We had the green Thai curry veg with rice. Tasty enough, filling enough, rice was a little stodgy but ok.

I had the red Thai vegetable curry & rice with prawn dumplings it was so delicious I loved it...

We stopped over for lunch. Chose to order from chow. The guy serving was extremely unhelpful and just stared at us. It wasn't busy and clearly had no customer service experience. I don't expect a 5 star service. However, he couldve easily just said " with a small/medium/large box you can choose either rice or noodle and a curry/sauce, and additional charges include if you want more than one item etc". Instead he stared at us and looked irritated and when we asked how does it work he responded with you're the one paying get what you want. The other suggestion I will make if you insist on having unhelpful servers is clearly display how to order so the servers can just stand there and stare. We were at the moto service station around 3pm -3:30pm on the 19th August 2021.

Delicious food... I hope they will increase the number of branches, so can enjoy it other than only in services.

Utterly tragic noodle soups. Bland and watery waste if money. Be better off buying a sandwich from the petrol station.

Disappointing, had my meal heated in the microwave and was still cold, pricey as well for the price

I believe that Teriyaki Sauce is not supposed to be hot, but at Chow Asian Food at Reading Services the Sweet Chili Teriyaki Chicken is quite hot. Not so hot that I couldn't eat it, but I would prefer it milder. But I guess it's because most English people like hot Asian food. The Duck in Hoisin Sauce - which our son had - wasn't that bad at all.

Sweet Chilli Teriyaki basically tasted like gravy and the Siracha like Tomato purée. Not even close to Asian food.

Amazing food and customer service and they have halal food

Stopped off at the Services for lunch, tried the large Chicken Katsu Curry and rice. It tasted okay, but cost about £9 which for the size and quality, is pretty poor! All it was is chicken, curry and boiled rice - no vegetables, pickles, etc - Wagamamas it isn't 👎

Normally me and colleagues love a katsu curry from here with noodles! But we feel we've been let down as they used to fill us up when large came in the tubs. But came here today and now the large is alot smaller :( we left still hungry.

We bought lunch from here on Monday 4 February. The man behind the counter was extremely unhelpful to an elderly man that asked a simple question. I end up helping the man as the guy behind the counter had a face of don't ask me a stupid question. It is totally unacceptable to treat people like that. On another note, if you advertise a vegetable curry, please add some vegetables in there and not just a few left over carrot bits.

Ate the same meal as a college only difference was I had duck spring rolls and rice, he had noodles and have been sick as a dog for three days after. Unsure how long food had been out for as skin on curries, no timing signs and katsu sauce was the dregs of the pan not sure if correct temp and only one person serving at peak time. This is the only thing I’d eaten and resulted in three days of sickness in bed!

Absolutely delicious udon roast chicken soup. Lots of udon noodles with plenty of chicken and vegetables. Cooked perfectly and very filling. My husband had the Teriyaki chicken with noodles which he said was just as good as mine. Service was great with a lovely smile and very helpful. Would thoroughly recommend anyone to try their food.

Very pricy for the chewy noodles and extremely salty sauce!! Chicken was tasty but overall very disappointing. Also, the side duck springrolls were tiny and only luke warm and way overpriced!! On the road for 10 min and already looking for the next Services!😬

Thought the katsu curry was really good and a proper portion!! Could have fed me and the kids but was too good and I didn't share. Don't bother with the sides the complete opposite bad value for money bad portions

Three of us ate here today - i have read the other reviews and it does not seem like the same place ........visited at lunchtime 1200 - 1300 and there was plenty of everything. I only saw one member of staff but she had everything under control and even offered the customer behind me a taster as she was not sure if she would like something too spicy.......We had 2 x Katsu curries and 1 X Green Thai Chicken. Paid just under £20 - i think they have put the prices up slightly just recently - but i still think £20 was good value - we got plenty of chicken in the Katsu and Green Thai. This is a regular stop for us and we normally head for Chow rather than the Burger king next door and i will continue to do so

15 minutes wait for rice at 6.30pm, then noodles got low, then as the rice came out they started to run out of curries. No forward thinking for busy periods. Only seemed to be two young uninterested girls working there.

No queue, but had to wait 5 mins as counter was unmanned. Paid almost £9 for a good size portion of sweet and sour chicken. Unfortunately 98% was rice and the rest source with almost no chicken. You would get more protein from a Pot Noodle. Very disappointed, avoid!!!!

Regular box rice with teriyaki chicken: 6.29 pounds. Good taste, but half kilo rice and only one spoon of tariyaki sauce. I am not going to repeat. And the box is very dirty externaly with sauce when served.

We were going to eat next door as we didn’t fancy Asian food, but the place next foor had nothing vegetarian. Chow had 2 veggie curries or you could get noodles and 3 different veggie sides, or a veggie sushi selection. The man working there was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.

Fab place - great member of staff, so chatty and friendly and the food was amazing. Perfect for mid-journey stop. Will defo recommend.

Picked up the vegetable udon soup yesterday only to discover small pieces of chicken in it. Went back to speak to them and a lady working there said “oh you haven’t found meat in the vegetarian have you” and then disappeared, leaving the disinterested young woman behind the counter to issue a refund with minimal apology or explanation. I’m a strict vegetarian and haven’t eaten meat in years so this was very upsetting. Anyone with any kind of nutritional requirement should avoid as labelling cannot be trusted whatsoever.

paid 7.50 for basically a carton of flavoured rice. no more than a spoon on full of ingredients in the whole large tub. rip off

Good onigiri, but clearly made in a mould. Rice was fresh and filling was well seasoned.

Slightly petulant as I'm really hungry and what they've given me is awful. I went large, which meant for an extra 2 quid they fill up the pot to 90% and then layer on a thin gruel of curry. The veg spring rolls were dry. And they had run out of soya sauce... Really?!!

I travel on a regular basis down the M4 . The addition of Chow to both sides of the motorway has been a pleasant suprise. Excellant Asian style dishes like the Panang Curry or Seasame style chicken. Sushi also looks nice and fresh

At least a decent Asian food offering at a service station. We stopped for Green Thai curry and the Katsu. Both meals very tasty and filling. Excellent value for money and a nice alternative to BK or KFC

Amazed at the poor reviews. We stopped off at the Bicester outlet on the way to and from our holiday in the Isle of Wight. Excellent attentive staff both ways; even down to the man bringing mine over to the table I was sat at after it was prepared (pumpkin katsu), due to my disability. This was even with a long queue. Unlike others we had a large amount; in fact far to much for me as a small eater. I found out later I could have bought just the katsu and sauce by itself without the noodles (which I did on the way back) for the princely sum of £1.29p. I would love to see more branches open and also maybe tofu and quorn katsu added to the menu.

Infelizmente fui obrigado a comer nesse restaurante (???) por estar em um shopping de alimentação a beira da estrada .Como não podia sair da rodovia,optei pela comida dita asiática dessa monstruosidade.Tudo estava péssimo,do frango desmanchando no garfo de tão passado ao arroz tão empapado,que caia também do garfo devido ao excesso de cozimento.As verduras pareciam papel molhado de tão moles. Os rolinhos primavera eram massa pura e dura , quase sem recheio. Passe longe dessa porcaria .

Stopped on way back to the south west, don't normally eat at the services as too expensive and poor choice for vegetarians. Chow has superb food choices for all, had a soup which was very tasty and service with a smile by Ellie which is becoming a rear commodity these days. Made us smile and we would definitely stop here again. Thanks.

Awesome food for a service station great value too went large for an extra £1.50 feel thoroughly fed for my ongoing journey thanks

Worst Asian Food that I ever tried. Really disappointed.

Eaten at the Reading branch twice now. The Thai green curry and noodles have been consistently very good.So nice to have something available other than a full English or burger and chips. At £6 for a regular portion, it is good value and filling. Love it!

The smallest porsions I have ever seen . So overpriced for one spoon full in a box . If your hungry don't go there

Stopped on the Way back from London and was amazed to find this Fast Food Take away! The Food was top quality and tasted really good! Service was also very good!

We stopped here because it was a convenient place, and as it was a services rest stop, we weren't expecting much more than the usual burgers and fries fare. The menu looked much more interesting and appetizing than anywhere else. Our group had the Sweet and Sour Chicken, The Green Thai Chicken, and the Katsu Curry. Everything was great. The portions were good, with decent amounts of meat and vegetables, and the noodles were very nice. The Green Thai was my favorite, but the Curry was also very good. Just make sure you give your noodles a stir once in a while as the sauce (which is very tasty) tends to settle in the bottom. Two thumbs up.

Stopped for a quick snack at Reading services. It the first time we have seen a Chow's, the katsu chicken curry with noodles was amazing. The go large for an extra £1.50 was great.

Stopped for lunch on the way to Bristol - had the chicken Penang with rice - very delicious - I'll try this again. Bit of a surprise sitting inside and eating out of a box but the food is worth the culture shock!

Stopped in Reading services westbound for quick snack on way home from Heathrow. No food on airplane so somewhat hungry. Chow Asian Kitchen looked bright and inviting but we were unsure of the menu - instantly offered tasters to help us decide which curry to have. Staff knowledgeable and friendly.Curry (panang) absolutely beautiful! Noodles great too. Really disappointed to find out on website that there are only two outlets.

On the way to Bristol, when we stopped at services for lunch, it was good to find this amidst the usual BK, Greggs and Costa. Variety of starters and mains available. We chose sushi, veg spring rolls, Thai red curry and chicken teriyaki. Main dishes are served with rice or noodles and there are two sizes of portions: regular or large. Although served in takeaway containers, the food is fairly tasty. A welcome change from the burgers and sandwiches.

Amidst the typical BK, Greggs that you find at welcome services, it was a pleasant surprise to find this Oriental place. There were sushi options along with hot Chinese and Thai food. The dishes that we selected were very good to taste and there are also options for starters (spring rolls, dumplings, etc.) Loved the food. Was quite filling and tasty.
