Best Chinese takeaway by far in Reading area. Asked extra spicy for our dishes. Amazing taste, ordered Singapore fried rice, Singapore vermicelli, Szechuan chicken and black bean sauce king Prawns. Our new favourite takeaway place👏.

Third time I've had food from here and it gets better and better. Best Chinese chicken curry I've had in decades! I'm in my sixties and this is one of my favourites dishes. Been eating it since I was a student. The curry sauce was perfect, thick, with lots of onion. This is a very good takeaway.

Best chinese in reading! Tried different places but none have topped hong kong city yet. Good Portions, flavourful food. Tried Mixed meat in black bean sauce and yummmmm!!! Sweetcorn and chicken soup is how it should be done, chicken balls are tasty - crispy and the batter hugs the meat, very well made and not greasy! Duck 10/10.. I could go on. Don't be shy to try something different on the menu, it's easy to get stuck on familiars. Everything we have tried we've loved. Well keep coming back for sure! *pop in and pay using cash to help keep independent business's like this going*

Today we ordered take away from Hongkong city restaurant. This is our second visit. This is the best Chinese I have ever had in Reading and surrounding area. The quantity is really good. Please remember to carry cash as they accept cash only.

Shocking shocking!! Nearly £40 for 3 meals for 1, portion of chicken balls plus delivery. The container was Jam packed with stodgy rice (probably a few days old), overloaded with chunks of onions, peppers & carrot!! Very small portion of the Hong Kong style pork and curry!! Probably as there was only 2/3 pieces of meat. Hong Kong City you used to be our favourite but now we won't be returning & will have to look for an alternative. Very disappointed!!!

Only go and try… very clear, good staff, nice food.

We've been ordering here for 3+ years. Yet to be let down. There is nothing oily or cut corners about the kitchen. Excellent quality and they make small adjustments for us, too. Kind, quick, delicious, and never greasy. The veg in any dish is super. Light tough and just lovely. If hungover they the prawn or chicken balls with dip. They are deep fat fried but OMg does it hit the spot. From calling in to pick up under 15 minutes. Very good adherence to covid-safe pick up. Lemon chicken crispy with perfectly zingy sauce, beef chow mein was tender and the noodles not greasy and just right for flavourings. Mushroom rice was perfect and fresh, no odd aftertaste, and a really lovely crispy duck pancake quarter without overcooking or gelatinous fat. The spring onion for the pancake was finely cut and all around a fantastic experience well worth the price and just such an indulgent treat. Thank you & see you soon!

It never disappoints! We tried different Chinese takeaways in Reading and this one is definitely the best! Portions are large and everything I tired so far was good, the satay chicken on skewer is absolutely amazing, the best satay sauce I’ve ever had! The only downside is that it’s cash only, sometimes we have no cash and cash machine is a bit far hence we have to order from elsewhere… Other than that, great! 👌

Applause worthy. We were immensely impressed at such phenomenal customer service. Spring rolls were genuinely out of this world. As for the fried beancurd and black bean sauce… OUTSTANDING. The Thai Red Chicken Curry was so divine it made us speechless — and not because of the spice.

Really fantastic food. Would recommend for a great take-out. Food is always fresh and flavorsome. The staff are really nice and super-helpful. I don't know the delivery range, but parking around the shop is mostly permit/pay and display and it's worth getting it delivered if you can.

By far best Chinese in Reading! Hadn’t been in in a long time after moving out of town. I was glad to see the shop still thriving after 3 years of not being in. Especially with COVID. I was delighted by the service and the food made me hungry for more. Ordering again today 😊😁

My parents have a caravan facing this takeaway so as I visited this weekend I treated the family to a meal as my dad was unwell so we couldn't go on our planned dinner date. I ordered a King Prawn Sweet & Sour, Chicken Sweet & Sour and Pork Sweet Sour, paid for fried rice separately (no rice as part of meal) also Ordered a Pork Curry and boiled rice with Large chips. Well the Chips (overcooked Fries) went in the bin, the Pork was like chewing cardboard both meals went in the bin and the Fried Rice was spot the egg. Chicken & Prawn okay although the order was wrong, chicken was without batter but came covered in it. Prawn Crackers were nice and fresh two of the sweet sours also had no veg or Pineapple in the sauce, Not sure if they think that when you spend £40.00 here that your a one of visitor so they don't care, but won't be going back. Also noticed no food hygiene rating was available to be seen.

Horrible food this evening, everything was drenched in salty sauce. Unfortunately we wont be comng here again, the food used to be very good from here.

Hands down been using this place for 10 years now and it is the best Chinese in Reading by far 💯 percent have tried others but nothing compares to this one .very friendly and the food is always so good.

Excellent take away. Had Chinese Chicken Curry and Beef Chow Mein and it was delicious and delivered hot to my hotel room.

We chose this place because all the reviews raved about it. It took an hour to come, paid for delivery and the guy took about 20 minutes to find the flat. Not the best. The food was not great either, I’d highly recommend Chop Suey House in West Reading. I think the food is much better there and the staff are so great too.

I’m so disappointed with this Chinese takeaway. I genuinely typed in ˋBest Chinese takeaway in Reading’ and this came up. However from the delivery man, not communicating effectively. To the actual food. It’s been a disappointment. The egg fried rice wasn’t very nice. The ribs were very tough and not soft at all and so were the chicken wings. It’s really disappointing because I thought this would be amazing. The prawn crackers were the best thing about this takeaway. Very lovely people on the phone, but not nice food unfortunately.

We ordered chicken satay and it was disgusting, chewy chicken and satay sauce so hot it burned our mouths, prawn balls chewy and tasteless, with a sauce that was not hot and jelly like in the middle. We did complain and were told sorry about that I will pass it onto the manager. £26.70 totally wasted, perhaps I should have taken the hint when I picked up the food and wondered why it was empty in there. Now we know, terrible food and could not recommend it to anybody. Should anybody ask I could only say steer well clear as there are much nicer places in the area. Just to be clear we will NEVER go back and will advise everybody else to do the same. My stomach is churning just thinking about how bad the food was.

This is one of the best Chinese in the area, we order from here all the time. The food is always delivered in good time and hot. Our favourite is what we like to call prawn doughnuts (sweet and sour prawn balls). I ordered lamb in black pepper tonight and it was like beef, I called and they said it was definitely lamb but it didn’t taste like it, it was definitely better the last time I had it. Will definitely order again.

We were visiting the area on a boat and managed to persuade them to deliver to a pub car park by the river. Driver arrived on time and the food was hot and tasty. Saved their number in case we moor here again.

It's a good archetype Chinese takeaway with the usual menu and usual standard of food but what makes it a regular for me is it is consistent, always good never bad or exelent but encredably reliably good, you know exactly what you are going to get and I prase them for that.

We have been using this take away for several years now, and not once have they delivered bad food. The quality standard is high and reliably always good. We will not be going anywhere else while it remains so. Keep up the good work folks

Pedí un mein de setas solo para encontrar un pedazo de pollo bastante grande. Como vegetariano, esto es muy angustiante. Además, no hay ningún símbolo en el menú que indique si un plato es vegetariano o no. Como el platillo simplemente se tituló mushroom chow mein, creí que sería una apuesta segura, obviamente estaba equivocado. No parece que se suponía que había pollo, porque si no, ¿por qué habría sido solo una pieza?Estoy muy decepcionado y molesto, y me alegro de haberlo notado antes de comérselo todo, pero para ser honesto, el hecho de que me comí algo con el pollo me hace sentir un poco nauseabundo.

He estado usando este lugar con mucha más frecuencia ya que mi señora acabaron con un amigo desde el gimnasio, así se hayan familiarizado con el menú de la ciudad de Hong Kong. Tengo que decir que es bastante bueno y fresco, puedes ver a los cocineros detrás del mostrador. Las bolas de pollo son excelentes, con una masa crujiente y muy sabrosa salsa dulce y agria. Quizás los precios son un poco elevados, particularmente con tanta competencia... pero bueno, son normalmente ocupado y así la gente parece dispuesto a pagar.

Since moving house and discovering Hong Kong City just around the corner from us, we have had fairly mixed experiences of it. The crispy duck is usually good, as is the rice. Though, there really is not much to say about it in difference to other Chinese takeaways in town. It is better than some, and worse than some.In regards to price, on the other hand, I find myself struggling to find a reason to visit Hong Kong City. Especially now that Golden Rice, slightly further away, has changed hands again and become great again whilst offering free delivery, it is generally cheaper to get a delivery from another takeaway rather than walk around the corner to here. As well as this, appetizer portion sizes at Hong Kong City are considerably smaller than, say, dumplings or prawn toast would be at another takeaway - and at a higher cost here.Given that the cost is higher and the quality indifferent, Hong Kong City falls down to somewhere we do not order from very often, which is a shame because they could offer so much better value given its proximity.

Food is very tasty and the potions a good size to share. A bit more expensive than I'm used to though.

Maybe a monthly visit on a Friday night a the end of the pre-weekend trek down from town. A good selection of Eastern food. Portions are a bit large for solo eating but leftovers do freeze down. Fu Yung and Duck in Black Bean Sause is my fav.

The House Special Chow-mien is the best I have ever had and I have had a few, if this was master chef they just won! I find it a pain being more than 3 miles away and you have to order over £15 for them to accept an order plus a delivery charge. My wife loves the Mongolian Lamb so 2 very happy food customers for the food, it has to be a special occasion at the price though so a once a month option, which may keep it special. Highly recommend the quality and quantity of the food. Thanks Honk Kong City.
