Food was excellent. Best were aaloo paratha, veg chow mein and even veg steamed momos were good. Fries were hot and crispy. Parking only available for 2 vehicles but you can park at rear street. Very polite staff. Old building with old furniture and restroom. But the food and service was worth visit. Will definitely come again.

Food is fantastic, site still under renovation as it was the food of the pub, but now it’s the restaurant only. Look beyond the decor and the food is very good, the momos, both fried and steams are a highlight. The chow mein noodles are crispy and have good spice level without being too overpowering. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. Parking is restrictive as there is only 4 spaces outside directly, there are other spaces that are private! Beware! We parked at the top of the road outside the school for free (2hrs) and it’s a 3min walk.

Neighbourhood pub that does great food. The loveliest staff and tastiest momos (dumplings). The food is perfect - and amazing value - especially if you love spicy food.

Best place to have Alo paratha, filled with perfect amount of alo and chatney is just wow perfect perfect perfectt ~ can’t wait to go back soon just to have their alo paratha.

Very disappointed with the overall experience. Was fined £200 parking charge as it is not clear there are only 2 parking bays owned by this restaurant. The receptionist just assumed we didn’t have cars, and only later realised his mistake in informing us too late. In efforts to compensate, he offered a ‘10% discount’ on our check but in actuality was only 8%. Also, the interior needs serious development and the ambience is unwelcoming. The only good food were the momos, but we waited a long while for each order to come through. We basically got scammed, would not recommend.

Nice vegetable curry and service there! The waiter is very nice and warm. Me and my two little friends really enjoyed the meal😊

Excellent Nepali food here. Highly recommend the momos especially the chilli pork. The service was on point. I guess the location leaned its self to some less than pleasant clientell not that it particularly bothered me. Five stars for food, three for the location. The place is a little tired but I enjoyed the multitude of green plants inside.

Went to Namaste Kitchen after a lot of suggestions and no wonder they have this great reputation! The food was amazing! Ordered chicken Chowmein , chicken Momo and a mutton thali. The momos and the thali was just so perfect, not a big fan of Chowmein but my husband loved it! The mutton thali had my heart ♥️

Do not bother to come if you want some authentic Nepalese or Indian food. It was probably worst food I have ever had. On top of that it arrived 2 hours late. I ordered some lamb biryani and it looked like fried rice with loads of food colouring. It was bland and not spicy at all. Naan was the same, it was very bland and so orange inside. They provided me some potato gravy thing which I didn’t ask.. and ohhh it was very greasy and oil was dripping out of the container. Probably my first and last time ordering something from here!

Please don’t take your dogs to this pub On Monday 25th September 2023 around 12.20pm a man with his assistant dog was assaulted by the manager of this establishment he was told by the manager he could not bring his dog into the bar as they serve food at this place manger all so told the man if a blind person goes in with his guide dog, he would kick any guide dogs or assistant dogs out of the bar. This has been reported to the police and the victim has asked for witnesses to come forward. As the victim has reported this assault to the police. I visited for the first time and I liked their food. Though the ambience was not so nice, their food still tasted really good and the price is also very reasonable. I will definitely try their Momos again.

Extremely lovely place just out of sight of town. Food is very authentic, delicious, and the deals are very good: lunchtime prices are a great deal. Staff are friendly and recognise us because we've been back lots of times!

Just a basic pub with pool table, but the food I ordered ie Momos, not 6 but x10, amazing value and the veg rice and lamb hot spice, was amazing, chapati spot on, I travel the UK , and I taste a lot of rubbish, but this little gem of place will bring me back, also staff are very welcome, keep up the good food and service 😀 😋

Went there for some chilli momos, very nice yet a little bit hot for me! Prices for drinks are reasonable, especially for the Reading area (at the time of writing this review, under £4 for a Stella), with a pool table if that's your thing - though as I found, good luck getting on it when the big group of regulars turn up. The barmaid was always friendly and helpful too. Update: Review updated upon my return as the one negative thing I observed has actually been changed. Its nice to see that the management actively read reviews/take notice of feedback.

The whole items from the menu are over priced, Chicken chilli doesn’t taste the same it suppose to be. Pork choila has nothing but a fat with no more than 8 pieces and is priced at £8.95. None of the food taste like an authentic Nepalese cuisine. Bad experience and won’t recommend to anyone.

Arrived ontime but the food is far from authentic. Dal mahkhni was a container of butter /ghee and tasted awful and Paneer Tikka Masala was just food colouring (almost radio active). We unfortunately binned it.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID this place at any cost in your life. Especially if you want to have a peaceful time at home with family. Ordered simple food that took more than 2 hours delay to arrive. In between tried to call 10 times and none picked up. After I declined to take that cold garbage and complained, the person from thw restaurant screamed at me over the phone. The whole family friday dinner ended up getting ruined, and chances are these waste of space will not pay my money back. If you care about life, AVOID this place.

Delicious! We are vegetarians and we actually called up to check the Momos were vegetarian as they had convincing soy protein in them! Everything was great, arrived fast and hot, and friendly staff.

Small-ish place, one side is very much an old school pub, the other is a very simple but nice Indian restaurant, great momos, a good selection of drinks, good location (close enough to town to walk to, far enough out so its not constantly packed and you don't get lots of drunk idiots in there)It's a nice, peaceful place with great food and great service! :)

Worst customer service ever food took 2 hours to even arrive in the table. One of the waiters were one of the rudest person I’ve ever met. The man started aggressively shouting at my dad and uncle the chef was a nice person and my dad knew the manger but the waiter should get fired

Went there last week, had a few drinks and ordered some food . All very Covid safe arrangements inside and for ordering. We ordered rounds of momos which arrived quickly, freshly cooked and were delicious. Service was friendly too, will be back!

First time I have ordered food from Namaste, delivered on time, it was delicious not oily at all and authentic. The chipattis were home made which was nice, free poppadoms which was also a nice touch. I would order from them again, no hesitation :)

Ordered some food via JustEat. The food was 30 mins late, missing items from my order and the items that were delivered were cold and of very poor quality. Bland, tasteless, bad food. When I contacted the restaurant they refunded the missing items but otherwise they weren't interested in try to help me any further. I've used this place a couple of times in the past and they've been great. However now, I will never return. And I urge anyone reading this to go elsewhere.

The food and service was not bad but the facilities and toilet were too dirty. The restaurant would have a better score if it were concerned about the cleanliness of the premises.

I cant recommend this restaurant. Staff is nice but Chicken Tikka Masala was worst I have ever eaten. So I would guess there in nobody from India in the kitchen.

The best Indian restaurant in Reading! Although off the main strip of restaurants in Reading, the staff are kind as well as considerate and the food is amazing! Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

It's tucked away. The decor is not fancy. It's open plan inside a pub. None of this effects the fact the staff are great, the good is great and the prices are fab. Hidden gem. We went last night for th first time and will definitely be back.

Still my favourite local curry house/takeaway. Interesting tasty dishes. The momos are great. My go to curry is the lamb naga, hot and delicious

Mi marido fue a comer comida india y comió bhajis de cebolla como entrante seguido de cordero achari, y yo opté por la comida nepalí no vegetariana. Todo estaba delicioso, y los sabores eran intensos sin ser abrumadores. El servicio fue excelente, también. ¡Definitivamente regresaremos!

El Namaste Lounge es básicamente un restaurante indio en un pub (Hook & Tackle).El servicio estaba bien y la comida recién preparada, pero sin embargo no es un restaurante en el sentido normal de la palabra, así que me temo que el ambiente lo defrauda. La comida es bastante normal, con un montón de salsas Pakas pre-compradas visibles a través de la cocina. Solo puedo puntuar la experiencia, un promedio como muy bueno lo exageraría.Hubiera esperado que la cuenta fuera más barata que un restaurante indio tradicional, pero sorprendentemente no lo fue.

Can't comment about the food as every time we go there it's shut! I wanted to try something a bit different and this looked ideal, but despite ringing (there is no website) I have never got a answer ! I am not sure they are still trading, best look before you go!

Monthly girls night out - this is great - lots of dishes ordered so everyone just had what they fancied. Couple of the group are vegetarians and it still worked. Good value.

Never eaten Nepalese food before so just asked for a selection. Happy to explain the menu and help us pick - everything was really tasty. Would especially recommend the momos (dumplings) and mango lassi.

We went recently and the food was as excellent as ever. There have been some scare stories about it going downhill, but we didn't see any evidence of it. For those who haven't been, it's in an odd location- you would never pass it by accident. Worth the trip though.

There is nowhere better for momos in Reading - in fact I'm not sure I've had better ones anywhere.

We chanced upon finding this place (when we were just driving across) and decided to give it a try. The place was empty barring few people at the bar. We were quickly welcomed and seated by a lovely lady. Ordered momos (chilli), veg chowmein and barra. For drinks we had mango lassi and salted lassi. Couldn't believe when we tasted the food... It was lip smacking. Delicious. So much that even when hunby and I were full, we still gorged on the left overs. :)

Just across the road from The Oracle, this independent Nepalese restaurant, set in the old Hook and Tackle pub in Katesgrove was very convenient for our group of office workers looking for something different from all the chain eateries.

The owners and staff take absolutely no resposibility for their drunken patrons damaging both property and vehicles belonging to the local residents. Despite numerous requests from local families with small children, they stay open until 11pm on weeknights in the middle of this residential area, and presumably just ignore the loud and rowdy customers on their dootstep, with no thought for the sleeping families around them. They might also want to think twice about allowing their patrons to take glasses outside, seeing as it is always local residents (and not the pub owners/staff) who clear up the smashed glass.

Such authentic food. The momo and chilli chicken were delicious. I would highly recommend them. The service was friendly and generous. Excellent value for money aswell.

Went here with a couple friends on a Thursday evening. Very pleased with the food. We tried the steamed and fried momo dumplings (steamed is nicer imo), and chicken chow mein which went down very well. Would like to come again and bring my girlfriend for a meal to try the momos :)

I have been before and been impressed. This time I went for the Mutton Thukka. Noodles with mutton and veg in a spicy broth. Delicious. Probably enough for two people. What a shame I was the only person eating.

Had wonderful food and a great environment. Great portions, and the staff was wonderfully helpful with food suggestions. We were well looked after. The Momo's were wonderful, as well as their curry selection.

Having been before as a couple, I brought my friends for a meal out on a Saturday night. Although quiet, the food was delicious. Authentic Nepalese food and the waiter was extremely helpful in providing assistance with the menu. The interior leaves a little to be desired as it looks like an old pub but don’t let looks fool you - the food is interesting and different. Would definitely recommend.

After the new management/owner takeover the interior has had a face lift, table linen, etc. Food quiet good and service was with a smile. I expressed the concerns I had whilst on my last visit and the gentleman serving us (perhaps the new owner/manager) listened attentively and made sure our order was cooked perfectly and prompt. I understand the previous errors were due to teething problems any establishment has during a transition as all the staff were new as was explained by a pleasant lady staff member then. I have been frequenting the place since the last 2 years. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, just 5-7 minutes walk from Oracle shopping centre, Thank you Namaste Kitchen for the lovely momos and sukuti :)

Found our way here, as many have, off the back of Edible Reading’s recommendation and we were certainly not disappointed. While the atmosphere was lacking (we were the only 2 in the place for a while) the food was excellent. Having not tried Nepalese food before my girlfriend and I were looking forward to a new experience and everything we tried was suitably tasty.

The only thing I’m disappointed about is that we found this place so late! The venue isn’t great and could do with a lick of paint and bit of renovation but the food is amazing!!! So yummy! Everything we had was absolutely delicious and it was very reasonably priced. Good variety for vegetarians and dietary requirements. Unfortunately they did say they would be moving on soon which is such a shame, but hopefully we will see them somewhere else again in the future. Would make a killing on Deliveroo

Heard so many good things about the converted Hook & Tackle pub that I use to haunt when I was a student, I had to take a visit. Word had certainly got around as it was busy when we arrived an although the delay in the food it was explained that the Veg Samya Bank set require 7 individual dishes to be created! Well it worth the wait my tastebuds were on overload! The dishes in this restaurant are so full of flavour and every dish was faultless. The Black beans we had were the most flavoursome I had every had. The chilli momo, lamb Sukuti, Veg bara & pakora, each one so full of flavour! I don’t want to shout too loud as this place is a hidden gem but you have got to check this place out, one of the best flavour experiences I have had in Reading! Can’t wait to come back!

Stopped here for lunch after shopping at The Oracle. We were not disappointed......the food is very authentic, spices and heat are ideal!

Absolutely superb food, friendly and helpful staff. I think we tried a bit of everything, including the delicious momo (both steamed and pan fried). Not the most auspicious surroundings but don't let that put you off. Well worth a visit!

Hidden away near a popular flyover in Reading is this homely Nepali Pub. Its not fine dining or a place with fancy decor. It is rustic, homely and warm. The owners and staff make you feel like family. The menu is short but takes on a journey of Nepali delicacies.

Nice with a good variety of dishes. For vegans the owner is very kind and helpful and is happy to tell you which dishes are vegan friendly.

We had a delicious meal here with friends. The service was excellent, with guidance when we weren't sure exactly what to have. The food was amazing and I will definitely be back.

Myself and a friend visited for an early dinner after reading a good review about Namaste Lounge. What I liked most was that the staff, noticing perhaps that we weren't sure what to choose offered to suggest an appropriate selection and (importantly) and appropriate amount to order. After asking a couple of questions about our tastes he recommended what turned out to be spot on. It was all delicious.

I went there with my housemate and my boyfriend. We had previously read a very positive review on the ediblereading blog. So we definitely went in with high expectations. And boy, were we right to! The chicken was so tender and the spices were all so well balanced! It was amazing. We shared 6 sharer platters and were dry full! The whole meal and drinks cost us £40. My boyfriend, who is always sceptical about new food, enjoyed the whole evening! I recommend the chicken chilli and the chicken lolly. We ordered the latter as a last minute impulse but we all 3 agreed it was the best out of what we ordered.

I could list all of the food I would recommend in Namaste Kitchen but I might as well just post a picture of both sides of the menu. The food is outstanding - particular highlights (although difficult to seperate the 9.9 out of 10 from the full monty 10 out of 10) include the Sukuti with Gravy, Chicken Lolly, all manner of Momos, and the Paneer Pakoda. Although that list could have gone on for a long while, if you are visiting for the first time I would recommend all of the above (to begin!).

A tucked away little gem just outside the heart of Reading. Everything about this place makes it worth the visit. The food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is homely and warm, and the staff are so welcoming and accommodating that you might mistake the experience as going for dinner with friends. Cannot recommend enough.

Brilliant restaurant for a group dinner, we all found the food delicious and staff really friendly and helpful. Very reasonable prices and good pub beers too. Highly recommend and will hopefully be back soon.

This place is fabulous! We went following a review I had read elsewhere and now I strongly suggest that if you are near the Oracle riverside, you walk an extra 5 minutes and come here for food instead.
